Walking in you feel very much fine dinning with a beautiful tall wine rack and tables dress to impress in all white. The view of the red rocks however are the main attractions. Inside and out door seating. The Crab cakes were the main character, they were absolutely delicious. The Swordfish sandwich was chefs kiss with the flavors and texture blending perfectly. The Lemon Ricotta Soufflé Hot Cake had such great texture and potential however for my liking it was too much lemon so it was overbearingly tart, if you like tart this is up your alley. The freshly squeezed OJ was also very delicious. Checked in with Yelp and got me a free Avocado Fries which they honored and if you love avocado try it for the kicks and giggles it was delicious. Forget the name of our server but he was very knowledgeable and friendly, I hope he enjoyed his Miami trip. Ohhhhh man, this place is gorgeous upon arrival. The menu has great seafood offerings as well. We started with the spicy tuna eggrolls, it was delish but I thought it could have been crispier. As most restaurants in Sedona, they do have great views. We dined outside on the patio because the weather was amazing. My family & I had gone here on Friday for a late lunch; it wasn't super crowded but there were people dining both inside and outside. After browsing the menu, I decided to get the Jay Bird's fried chicken sandwich, others got some sushi, twice fried chicken wings, classic breakfast, and the Cubano sandwich. Everyone really seemed to enjoy the food. The chicken wings were large & flavorful with the sauce on top, the Cubano sandwich had quite a bit of meat (both pulled pork & bacon), and my fried chicken was cooked perfectly, super crisp! The disappointments were the fries that came with the chicken sandwich, and the classic breakfast too was lacking salt in the eggs and potatoes. The sushi looked really nice, I'm not a huge fan of sushi in general but my husband really liked it. Overall, given the quantity of food, I thought the prices were fair. Shorebird was our final meal in Sedona, and it was a good one. My top-tier chum who literally went to the school of hospitality and I came here for brunch a few Tuesdays ago, the bags already packed and the need for one last lingering look at the canyons high on the agenda. This restaurant didn't have QUITE the viewpoints as some others did, but given that the day was going to be full of traveling and carbs were imperative, the menu won the day. I definitely don't mean this to sound insulting, but if you go to the website, review their menus and also note that they have another location deep in the land of Mischa Barton and the OC, you'd come away thinking this place was much higher end than it is. We were both a bit surprised when we came in and saw a basic interior that reminded us a lot of our NJ diners, with booths and modern but simple decor. Curious, since in every other way I think they're trying to appeal to the bougier tourists. The main reason I wanted to give this place a shot was their Mimosa special, which was (I think) about $20 for a legit bottle of champagne and a smaller serving of OJ. Good bang for the buck, and something I would more aggressively promote if I were them, frankly. There's also just something about having a bottle of champagne on ice next to your table; a touch of class no matter where you are. In what has swiftly become a vacation tradition, I got the Maryland Crab Eggs Benedict (which I'm just now realizing was my second time in 18 hours here flouting my 'no seafood in a landbound state rule;' thankfully did not get burned by this either time). As nature intended, it was a huge serving and quite scrumptious. I like that they went pretty easy on the hollandaise, which should always be the case when you have a strong cast member like the crab cake involved. We got an app and a side to split, and it was the dictionary definition of hit or miss. My chum really wanted to get the avocado fries, which I was very eh on initially because I've had some pretty mediocre ones before. It was a low bar, but these were the best I've had and fried perfectly - a light touch at the deep fryer is key. I would have ordered another helping of these if I'd had the room. The sourdough toast with whipped honey and strawberry preserves was honestly pretty rough and I would strongly urge everyone to avoid that one. The presentation was really bare-bones and cheap; if memory serves, they just put Smuckers or something in a little condiment container like you'd get at a fast food restaurant for your ketchup. Just not worth it, and I'm saying that as someone who ended up paying probably $3 or $4 for it. Stick with the apps and entrees here. I think I had one bite and after that opted to expend my calories elsewhere. The service was decent. I was pleasantly surprised that our waitress came by as often as she did, especially earlier in the meal when we were the only party in the outside seating area. There were quite a few customers inside to attend to, and it would have been easy to forget about us; out of sight, out of mind. But as in regular, non-vacation life, we attracted attention and had regular visits throughout the experience. This wasn't the best place we ended up at in the area, but it was good for what it was. And if we'd had more time to play with, I would not have said no to a mimosa-centered return trip. read more

I am giving this place 3 stars because we had a great time. We had great service. Our appetizers were the star of dinner. The only photos I took. The wings and crab cakes were delicious. Well seasoned. The wings were a little overcooked in my opinion but I would definitely order again and maybe see if they could make them a little spicy! I did not take a pictures of our entrées but I got their braised short ribs with their mashed potatoes and added broccolini. My husband ordered the ribeye medium rare. My braised short ribs came with an over easy egg that I got on the side because I knew I was going to have leftovers and I was very disappointed. Everything was so under seasoned. The short ribs were dry and needed garlic salt or something! (may be that's the reason for the egg on top) Mashed potatoes and carrots were fine. The broccoli was not very good. We did not even take those to go. They were not broccoli, they were just the regular broccoli that were not steamed/cooked very long and had no salt on them. They were very hard and bland. They were served in a bowl as if they were just placed in a microwave. I was disappointed in the food. My husband's ribeye was very thin and just looked like a sad piece of steak. It definitely did not look like a healthy good quality piece of meat. Maybe we made a mistake ordering meat instead of seafood. My final thoughts are I would not recommend this place for their food and honestly my skinny margarita was the worst thing I've tasted in my entire life. I have never sent ANYTHING back before but I did with my drink and changed it to a Paloma and it was so much better. The skinny margarita tasted like straight bitters!!!! Omg that was a first. I hate leaving bad reviews and it's rare that I do but I just was so disappointed in this place. The restaurant was very beautiful though. Sedona is beautiful and romantic. read more

The Trout special was very delicious. The fish was tender and the flavor was light but flavorful. The side dishes paired really well as well. The view was beautiful. If you could , request the patio seating. It is first come first serve though. However, I am not sure how it works because there were people waiting for the patio seating but yet some tables were empty. I went there to celebrate my 50th birthday and noted on the reservation. The hostess knows too but when it comes to dessert time. We had to ask the server. This part was a little bit uneasy. I was hoping they would offer something without us asking. Stopped by Shorebird for a quick bite before heading out of town and I am sure glad we did. The restaurant features tables with picturesque views of the mountains and a bar. There are plenty of tables and they aren't on top of one another. We decided to have the Lemon Ricotta Souffle Pancakes and the Twice Fried Chicken Wings. The pancakes were absolutely delicious and the wings were crispy, tasty, and perfectly cooked. When the food is this good, there is no need to get into the details. Just get yourself something from here. The service was outstanding and although it was a quick meal, the view of the mountains made the food even better. I went in on a Monday lunch and there was no one in sight so you're pretty much free to sit where you like. I ordered the swordfish sandwich which came with bbq spiced fries. The swordfish was dry but the guacamole sauce paired with the Napa cabbage/kale slaw and brioche bun was good. You would need to ask in advance to make the fries a bit more crispy though. The restaurant is visually appealing at a glance, with nice decorations on the walls, but the booth cushions are cracked and need to be reupholstered. The lemon ricotta pancakes were the star of the morning. They have a bit of a tangy/citrus zest flavor to them, with blueberries cooked into the pancake and strategically placed around the plate in a ring of blueberry coulis. I would have liked more coulis and whipped cream on the side. They could have done away with the maple syrup entirely and given a little bowl of coulis. That would have been perfection.We ordered two lattes, and both were delivered lukewarm (colder than kids' temp), so we had them remade. The next two lattes had coffee grounds in them, but we didn't want to complain again. My daughter ordered chicken and waffles. The chicken was cooked perfectly, but we sent the waffles back twice because the batter was obviously bad and each waffle was hollowed out on one side and the doughy part was wet and off-putting on the other side. The chef sent the waitress back to the table after I sent her to the kitchen with a remade waffle that we'd split open. She asked if they were from the first batch. No, they were not, which was why we sent them back again. They ended up taking it off the bill and my daughter's breakfast consisted of fried chicken. My husband and I split the breakfast burrito. One half was put together beautifully, but the half I ate literally had a whole potato in it. Why? The flavor was great though as long as you cut it apart and downsized the potato bites. I'm not sure if it was a bad day for our waitress or if it was just her personality, but she was not friendly and only smiled once. She was not rude--just seemed apathetic and maybe a little unhappy. The service was pretty bad- I think we sat there for 15 minutes, done with our meal, waiting for the check. Also, salt on the rim of my margarita when I said "no salt". Those kinds of thing... More-or-less excusable if the food is really good. But the food is really just average- though at a higher-hipster price point. Those chicken wings are as big as they look on the pic, by the way. I believe this is a new restaurant in Sedona and honestly it was amazing food. The sushi and raw bar items were soooo fresh and delicious. We got the Salmon Carpaccio and Balboa Roll with a half dozen Oysters on the Half Shell and everything was seriously so delicious and fresh. The oysters are from the East coast and they serve it with great sauces and additions. Our server was very nice and recommended great items. The only "issue" we had was that we ordered the Lemon Caesar Salad that never came and had to ask for it to be removed from the bill. We sat outside on the patio that has a BEAUTIFUL view of the Sedona red rocks and it was great weather regardless of the Arizona heat. We were initially disappointed that the chicken chilaquiles were off the menu (that's what we came for) but our alternate choices were amazingly good and better than what I imagined the chilaquiles would've been. We started with some deviled eggs which were great, then ordered some brunch items including the CARNE ADOVADA, CHICKEN & WAFFLES, & LEMON RICOTTA PANCAKES (we were really hungry). The wasabi was mixed with a pickled garnished which gave it a different twist that I never had before, it was an interesting flavor. If you're not a tomato person then the soup is not for you. I liked it but not love it. The crab cake had 80% crab and 20% breading. It was gently crisp with the the sweet tangy creamy salad and dressing combo. If you want a variety of food, Shorebird is the place to go. It has a bar and outdoor patio seating. read more

Menu is all over the place from steak to wings to sushi- first clue this is not upscale. The food came out out in five minutes from ordering- obviously everything including the salad was pre-made and prepped so all ready to go. The wedge salad had chunks of the bitter core. Not good. Cassie took over his shift and I requested a Mezcal Old Fashioned and it was an AMAZING Smokey elixir of the god's! Our server Sam gave us great suggestions and i ordered the Short ribs which was as good as i have ever eaten. It was so tender, i didn't even need a knife. My wife raved about her Salmon plate. Came here during Restaurant Week and had a great time. The views with the stunning backdrop of red rocks simply added to the wonderful experience here. Loved the simple clean and classy decor of the interior. Appreciated the very attentive and friendly server who checked on us frequently and made sure we had everything we needed. The drinks were delicious, got the scratch margarita and the prickly pear margarita (which was bursting with sweet flavor). The avocado fries app were very addictive. The caesar salad had a refreshing lemon twist. The main entree was a braised angus short rib, super tender and juicy. It included an easy egg on top, and it sat on a bed of chive-whipped potatoes, garlic-braised carrots and soaked in a rich bordelaise sauce. The dish was a little on the heavy side but really good nonetheless. We finished it off with a dessert of Valrhona chocolate brownie, vanilla bean ice cream, salted caramel, toasted walnuts. GET THE FLOCK OUT OF HERE Tried to get into a trending restaurant down the street on a Saturday night and the wait was an hour for only a few people. We were famished and could not wait. We ended up here because I called before arriving and the hostess said they could get us a table right away. BOUILLABAISE - This was a daily special that was really flavorful dish, for a couple reason which I will explain. It was tasty but very garlicy FYI (bring mints and gum as needed for afterwards). You get a mix of different seafood so you can get a variety of tastes. However, the mussels had a funky taste. I would describe it as a baby diaper in taste and consistency. The mussel squished and oozed when I bit into it. One my dinner mates who got the scallops which included mussels, also said her mussels tasted gross. She was more kind and described them as PUTRID. I had to spit out my mussels becuase it grossed me out so much. I was too hungry to inform the waitress about this inconvenience and just kept eating everything else. When I informed the waitress afterwards, she said 'Sorry about that, I'll let the kitchen know' and left it at that. I don't know what I was expecting to make up for the putrid mussels, but it seemed like a very disingenuine response. SKIRT STEAK- it was okay. Not amazing. If you are steak person you would probably like Texas Roadhouse better. Everything is definitely pricey for what it is. Ambiance didn't really WOW for being an upscale restaurant. I guess they have some "views" during the day but much to be desired at night. I give stars for the quick seating, but they get knocks for the weak mussels. read more
