I cannot convey enough, the gratitude to Shred Works Account Executive, Juanita Gomez for her professional customer service and knowledge; for the most part, her patience and courtesy as she helped me wade through a difficult and what almost seemed to be, an insurmountable situation; handling all communication via telephone and email. Contacting her from the Pacific Northwest for a quote was handled quickly and with a price point that I couldn't ignore given the situation of losing a loved one and traveling to the east-Bay, CA to conduct a bereavement service and close out a storage unit teeming with unknown personal effects. I had no idea what to expect; only knew that it was a monumental task! Juanita offered a minimum price quote with the understanding that costs would increase accordingly once I knew by 'guess-timation' what might have to be tossed and shredded; and, quickly needing to dispose of all contents within a 4-day maximum time-line. Upon arrival in Berkeley, all communication was handled via telephone and everything was subject-to-change as it all took on a life of its own. Flexibility was key and Juanita delivered; even as I worried about meeting my time-line and as Shred Works coordinated their workday schedule with mine. Essentially, it was bar none, one of the most 'seamless' coordinated events I've witnessed in my (almost) three quarters of a century lifetime. It didn't end there. On Day 3, after an exhausting two days of non-stop physical labor and coordinating the pickup and disposal of all personal items, I met a most engaging and pleasant young man, Brady Saephanh, Shred Works Route Sales Rep who arrived on time and offered to assist me at once. Not only did Brady tend to what his tasks were, he helped lift heavy boxes and patiently allowed me to quickly review the contents of boxes as he worked on his tasks. When all of the documents and boxes to be shredded had been tallied, Brady quickly and professionally computed the total with an explanation of what was owed to Shred Works. As an elder, I am grateful that Shred Works has such capable and courteous employees and represent the company well. This team--my 5-Star team, comprised of Juanita Gomez and Brady Saephanh, are to be commended for their effort and diligence as Shred works representatives as both are deserving of this 'shout-out'! I had been trying to get an estimate for a lot of files that needed shredding, and had left 2 messages with their competition-no reply after over a week. I was referred to Shred Works, and left a message for a call back. Less than an hour later, Juanita called me back and coordinated a date and time to get the work done. Awesome service! We were cleaning out our garage and came across some very old files, so we decided to purge. They got us on their calendar right away and showed up in the time frame we requested.We thought we had 13 boxes, but it turned out that we had 26 total. This was the first time I used a professional shedding service. They were the only one that bothered to call me back. They followed up with a confirmation call, came on time, and were really fast. The price was very reasonable, and they came to my location, so I did not have to bring the documents to the shredding facility. The truck driver, Roberto, was beyond nice. I emailed this company from yelp gave our address and was told that they service my area on Tuesdays. Today I called to schedule an appointment and was told they don't service my area. They do service areas further out from their home base than my location but the representative that I talked to said it was because of trees. There aren't any trees on the route to our address that would be in the way of their truck so I don't get it. The biggest thing is, that I wish I'd been told that weeks ago when we first communicated with them. If I could give this firm no stars, I would do it. read more

I had years of paperwork that needed to be shredded and Shred Works wasn't too far from my home. I would say that this company is good, but it would have been helpful if someone had explained the process to me. I gave them all the bags to be shredded and was led into the office to pay for it. I asked the gal when can I see them shred my paperwork and she said it's probably already been done. She walked me to this TV monitor which showed paperwork on a moving belt...heading, I suppose to the shredder, but frankly I couldn't tell if it was my paperwork. That left me with an uneasy feeling. Next time, I'd probably go somewhere else that did it right in front of me. read more

Shred Works was both responsive and helpful as a small business I did my home work and looked around for different shredding companies in the Bay Area. I finally came across Shred Works in Oakland; I was given direction by a very pleasant person on the phone and was able to find it perfectly. While they are not in a great area the facility is very secure which included a camera monitoring systems and several locked gates. I had brought 7 Boxes to be shredded they assisted me with my material and we went inside where I was able to view the shredding process the whole thing took about 5 mins. I was charged $10 per box which seemed fair and inline with other companies. About a month later a friend of mine needed some shredding done at her work in Palo Alto I referred her to Shred Works and they came out to her location with in 24 hours and picked up her material. She too was very pleased. I found them by using Google and searching shredding companies in California Bay Area. I tried to get the yelp coupon but alas, my iPad couldn't get the link to the coupon to show up. When I arrived at the High Street warehouse, the manager honored the coupon text link on my really archaic phone and I was charged $10 less for the shredding service. I bought in two boxes which I weighed at home (55+ pounds). I witnessed the shredding and it didn't take very long. The manager, workers and office staff went overboard in customer service.
