Food was good, it was the service that was the issue. We were a party of four, we're seated right away, server came over and took our drink order. Drinks came out, no issues. Waiter then takes our order, does not write anything down, walks away - we all look at each other and wonder why they don't write it down. Order was simple, shrimp basket, pop corn shrimp, white fish, and a two meat combo. The person with the white fish said it tasted weird but ate it, everyone else was fine. we called ahead on Monday May 20th to ask about any specials. The person that we spoke with told us they had $10.67 a dozen oysters on Tuesday night. we were actually headed to Shrimp Basket that night but waited until today Tuesday May 21st to go for the oyster special. Surprise!!! We arrived at 6pm tonight (May 21st) and were told that special ended last week. We told them we called yesterday and that was not communicated to us. They said "tomorrow" night!! Made a trip into Destin, from PCB, to this recommended location. So glad we did. What an excellent staff. Greeted by SERENA, Gen Mgr. Came to our table to welcome us. We encountered an issue with a gift card from Shrimp Basket. SERENA immediately got on the phone with her boss and made this dinner happen, through her generosity. What an excellent workforce to straighten out the issue. A long time waiter and bartender, RICK, took over and allowed us to enjoy a flawless dinner, with no drama. You know, that is sometime hard to come by. My side salad with added shrimp was huge and delicious.My husband ordered whitefish that was lightly breaded and perfect. He could not believe how his dish arrived steaming hot and continued thru the entire meal. It just shows you how attentive service results in these delicious meals. No sitting under lamps as other chains sometimes do. We appreciate SERENA and RICK!! Stopped in to the Shrimp Basket tonight for dinner. We were immediately seated and placed a drink order while perusing the menu. I got the White Fish Basket and my wife got a Half Size Shrimp Basket. We watched a football game on their big screen TV and listened to country music. Our food arrived hot and fresh. The six fish filets were small and thin. At least two were so thin that it was difficult to find any fish between the breading and they were very chewy. I asked my wife how her 5 pieces of shrimp were and she said they tasted good, but we're much smaller than she expected. We didn't complain to the mgmt because I didn't think this was a one off mistake. I feel like this is the norm here. While the fish and shrimp didn't meet expectations, the sides of slaw and fries were very good. Our waitress was great. Quick to get our drinks and order in and checked on us. She was friendly and efficient. She did her job well. We won't be giving them a second chance. Too many other places to try in Destin. read more

This place is great for the price. It is not the best seafood in Destin, but it is good. They do have outdoor seating, so that is a plus. We had the Boom Boom Shrimp appetizer, as well as the Gumbo with Rice. We both had the seafood basket as our meal. The best, by far, was the Boom Boom Shrimp. That was the best we ever had. The rest of the food was good, not great. We ate at Kenny D's earlier this week and their version of the Gumbo and basket was much better, but of course it costs more. We have them 5 stars because of the service. Our waiter, Juval, was very friendly and brought everything we asked for right away. It was worth it to come here for the service. Now, we weren't feeling the long waits at some of the other restaurants, so we tried this out. My wife loves oysters and the kids wanted to try them (didn't go well ). Meanwhile the rest of us got the standard fare for a seafood restaurant. Grilled shrimp, fish sandwich, po boy sandwich. The oysters were awesome, meanwhile anything fried was alright. The food was delicious, for the most part. Wife ordered the blacked shrimp combo. The shrimp was seasoned great but the broccoli was not which was disappointing since it was an up-charge. She loved the corn nuggets. She also liked the cole slaw, she wouldn't go out of her way to order it but liked the fact that it had shrimp in it. She was unlucky as her cup only had 1 shrimp in it so I gave her a few of mines because my cup was FULL of them. She also order the "Miami Vice" but didn't like it; she didn't enjoy the flavor and felt like it was lacking alcohol. I ordered the endless popcorn shrimp. It was great especially because it wasn't just flour covered specs of shrimp which surprised me. I had fried okra as a side which I thought was good as well. The sides were endless too and I thought that was great! Definitely worth the money. In addition, we ordered the crab cakes. Our hostess and waitress-Kim were super attentive and very friendly upon arrival. (Even suggesting on the free beaches to check out after lunch-which we did! we truly appreciated that information! We asked about the most ordered items and that's we ordered! We are not big on eating a lot of fried food but this was going to epic! Going out with a punch for sure on this Destin vacay! We ordered the shrimp basket and Seafood platter. Fried pickles as appetizer. All the food was delicious and crunchy and didn't see anything swimming in oil-like other places that serve fried food. I ordered the coconut shrimp basket and a large gumbo. You'd expect the gumbo to come out before your meal but it came out with my shrimp which was annoying but not that big of a deal. What made the experience really go down hill was the gumbo was stone cold and tasted like it'd been sitting out for a week. The coconut shrimp was burnt, the fries it came with were undercooked, and the serving size was enough for a 10 year old.
