SCW and I stoped into Shyan's Kitchen after a brief search on Yelp. We were pretty hungry after a flight into New Orleans and Shyan's looked great. The parking area is small but adequate and the location was easy to find. We arrived very soon after opening and were greeted warmly and chose our seats. The interior was nice and clean. Several TVs are around the restaurant and it being a Sunday when we visited one of them was tuned to the days NFL proceedings. We looked at the vegetarian menu and ordered some samosas to start. They came out quickly and were incredible. The samosas were so well flavored and spiced both of us couldn't get over how good they were. The samosas came with some spiced chickpeas that were equally delicious. A little hint of smoke, quality spices, really really good. SCW ordered the Channa Masala, and I ordered the Aloo Mutter. Along with some bullet naan and basmati rice. Oh my, the dishes were absolutely amazing. I really enjoyed the spices (not hot) which added so much complexity and flavor to the dishes. I could not stop with the "mmm this is so good" while enjoying the meal. I found such a good balance of flavors in the Aloo Mutter, it really was incredible. I highly recommend both dishes. The service was incredibly kind, attentive but not overwhelming you. I really enjoyed the dining experience here and would easily return if in the area again. Give Shyan's Kitchen a try.

My second time at Shyan. The first time the food was great and I couldn't wait to go back. I ordered the spinach paneer and chicken masala. This time I orders the same thing and the recipe must've changed! The food was spicier (good if you like that). My Spinach paneer tasted like the cloves soaked in it too long and the chicken was dry. They did give us a lot of rice which i appreciate The worst was the garlic naan which was hard and burnt. So disappointing. Looks like I'll have to find a new place

Very good, no frills Indian/Pakistani casual restaurant w an extensive menu and substantial portions @ reasonable prices. The service was great and we did not have to wait long for our food to arrive. This was a very positive experience.

Goat biryani. Plenty of meat to eat!

Every item I tried at this restaurant was fantastic last night! I gave the goat biryani a bad review before, but I think it was a fluke last time. This time, the rice itself was well seasoned and VERY flavorful. I loved the taste of the tamarinds that were in there! The meat was tender, delicious, and plentiful as well. Not too many of the pieces were bony (some bones are unavoidable with dishes involving goat, that's the norm, if you're not familiar). After my poor experience with this dish, the owner kindly reached out to me to give this place another chance, and I am SO glad I did! The goat biryani was amazing this time around!! My boyfriend from Nepal even commented on how great it was! I will definitely be coming back to check on the consistency of its cooking. I hope it's this wonderful next time too! I also ordered a pakora, which was seasoned and fried to perfection. (It comes with a creamy reita sauce, but I like to dip it in regular yogurt!) Great appetizer. Lastly, the chicken tikka masala I ordered was exquisite! The chicken was soft and abundant, and the sauce for it was spectacular! The naan (or rice if you prefer) was buttery, and as large as a big dinner plate - just as thick too! Zero complaints at all this time around! It seems like the owner really cares about the quality of food he serves at his restaurant, and that matters to me a lot. This makes me think my previous experience really was just a bad fluke. In fact, I thought the food was so excellent this time around, I recommended Shyan's Kitchen to a friend today!

Always great food and friendly service at Shyan's! Recently my go-to dish has been the Briyani (sort of like a South Asian jambalaya if you are not familiar with it). Love the breads too- especially the stuffed paratha.

The food was so yummy. I ordered Shrimp Tikka Masala and it was so good I ACTUALLY BROUGHT THE LEFTOVERS HOME! Their was so much rich curry flavors without the bite (I asked for it to be mild), I also ordered the ginger Naan which I also brought home. I the woman who always feeds her dogs her leftovers ATE my leftovers the next day. I did add a couple of pieces of shrimp to it because there wasn't enough shrimp but there was plenty of sauce. This restaurant is more Pakistani and serves halal meat (a had it available - I'm not sure which) so there is no alcohol not even beer.

    Mutton Karahi (Goat Curry)

The Goat Curry is one of the best in the city, the meat was super tender and the curry had good spice; our curries were also more meat heavy than other places we've had in NOLA/downtown. Service was great -- guy working the front / waiter was very nice and attentive. Restaurant was small and homey. Would recommend.

The Chapli kabob was one of the best I've ever had in a Pakistani restaurant. The naan was very good as well. However the chicken Tikka masala was a miss - not spicy and not sweet - kinda bland and could use More spice

The staff were super friendly and accommodating. The wedge salad was nicely presented and tasted twice as good. It's actually half a head of iceberg, which is usually not what I'm used to when I order this kind of salad to go--the boxes usually aren't large enough! Very nice surprise. Generous amount of toppings as well as you can see in the photo. The pizza was also very good: crunchy crust, generous amount of toppings, and perfect temperature. It's probably the best cauliflower crust I've ever had. I was tempted to order something sweet, but I decided to behave myself. There's blueberry cheesecake Maybe next time! I will be back!! Seriously, one of the best burgers I've had. I kept repeating out loud, "omg, this is so good" every time I took a bite. We also ordered the Cheesy Bacon fries and they tasted like a French fry version of a potato skin, which was amazing. Very small dining area (especially for my Mother-in-Law who uses a walker), but overall a great experience. I will 100% return. P.S. if the owner or manager reads this. We had Layla as our server, and she was super sweet. My Mother-in-Law was having a really difficult time getting from her chair to her walker, and she stepped in to help. We really appreciated that, so thank u, Layla!

I went with the half oyster po-boy and gumbo combo. The sandwich turned out pretty well, with a good amount of fried oysters that were clearly cooked fresh rather than sitting for a while. Pretty good bread too. The gumbo was a disappointment though. I guess I've spent too much time on the bayou down through the years, because anytime a bowl of gumbo shows up without a scoop of potato salad in it I'm disappointed. Worse still, this gumbo was flavorless, bland and completely lacking of spice. Were it not for the dark color, I would have not been able to tell the difference between this and the sort of store-bought gumbo that comes from a can. The server kept an eye on me and my drink of choice, so props for that. Also, beware going to the restroom here, as the door doesn't seem to lock.
