Went in a group of 9. The staff was really courteous and cheerful. They had a separate vegetarian menu which was a pleasant surprise for me as the only veg in the group. Ordered a spicy noodle with gravy which had baby corn in it (can't find the exact name of the item) but it was my best Thai food experience so far, hence the well deserved 5 stars. read more

Another very good Thai restaurant in Sunnyvale. The competition around here is fierce, especially with another equally good one, Thai Basil, across the street. What sets Siam Taste apart is the ungoldly amount of sauces and spices that they soak your food in. I've eat at a lot of Thai Restuarant and a lot are disappointing. I ate at Murphy station a lot and for some reason never manage to try this place out. So on my birthday my co-worker dragged me here and i gotta say they have really tasty dishes. I order the BBQ Salad and the Spicy Spaggetti. the Salad was really good, I'm very impress at the taste and the texture of the beef. usually they would just over cook the beef and it become very chewy, but the beef is very tender and delicious. Along with the salad, sauce with lime and thai chilli aaaaahhhh it's just a good dish on a good summer day. The Spicy Spaggetti is delicious and the chicken is nice and tender not dry and chewy like other places i had ate at. Its a little too spicy for me, but you can always ask them to take it down a bit. Also, I can't help but to try the curry and it was amazing. it's the right portion, level of spicy and it's not too milky or too blanch. I can eat that stuff all day long. This is my first time here and really hungry so I guess everything is good to me. I will try this place again and see if the taste is the same, but for now i think it better then Thai Basil. read more

The food is great - there's so much of a selection though that I have no idea if I can speak for the whole menu, but every dish I've tried I've been happy with. I love the yellow curry....so, so good. I was introduced to this place by a friend of mine who knows some of the staff. Now, every time I go, they remember me and will come over just to chat, and occasionally will give us free drinks or dessert. I've been here for lunch a few times now, and I've always left happy. I usually get the yellow curry with chicken & roti. I LOVE that they have the roti lunch option, since it seems like most Thai places only have rice to go with their curry. The yellow curry here is rich and flavorful, not at all watered-down (the most common fault I find in cheap Thai curry). Their lunch plates also come with a small veggie spring roll and a samosa (very yummy, wish there were about 3 more of these!). The dishes are generally well-presented, as can be seen in the photos. The decor is nice overall, though I personally find the wall murals a bit much. The staff is friendly, but a little on the slow side, especially when it gets crowded (and it can during lunch rush hour). My most recent visit (yesterday), I sat outside and it seemed that the service for the outside tables may have been especially slow (I don't remember slowness in particular during my earlier visits, all inside). For lunch, expect to pay ~$10. Last year on my birthday, I came here for lunch with a group of about 15 coworkers. We had to wait probably 10 minutes or so for them to get a table set up, though we were waiting for everyone to show up anyway. They handled the large group gracefully, and I believe we even got free dessert (though now that I think about it, I'm not too sure since my coworkers treated me...). In all, it was a fun and tasty lunch! I would definitely recommend this place to others, and have on 2 occasions brought friends/family here for lunch. read more

Searching for some good Thai food in SV led us to Murphy St for dinner. Went with Siam over the other Thai place. Was quickly seated by a nice bubbly Thai lady. Inside was not fancy but clean and well kept. Papaya Salad- 2star This was my first papaya salad so I may be a bad judge. But $8 for some shaved papaya over ice berg with some spicy dressing does nothing me. Forest Curry w/ Chicken- 3star- Spicy red curry with out coconut milk. With chicken and a mix of Thai veggies. Curry sauce had a good flavor but it was hard to pick up the flavors of the other ingredients. Spicy Eggplant with minced pork- 3star- Good flavor and very aromatic. My complaint was how oily it was. Brown rice- 4star- above average Fried Banana w/honey and ice cream- 5star- one of the best I have had at any Thai place All and all it was pretty average. Over all impression of the food was good but came away thinking everything was oilier then other restaurants. Will definitely go back for the dessert. read more

We went there for lunch, but ended up eating from the dinner menu because there were some great sounding dishes on offer. We both had Tom Kha Gai for starters (the 'small' is plenty to share between two people) which was wonderfully fragrant. We then had Angel Wings Pa-nang Curry and Bangkok Chicken. The angel wings were amazing, chicken wings stuffed with ground chicken and some spices, with a lovely peanut curry sauce. The flavour of the Bangkok chicken was a mix of chinese sweet-and-sour and BBQ, a slightly strange taste, but not at all unpleasant, n a bed of rice noodles. Both dishes were huge, and a single one could have fed both of us. Service was very quick (we were there on a Sunday at 13:00 with 3-4 other tables occupied), although the staff weren't as cheery as they could have been. read more

I didn't read reviews prior to coming here which is probably good. The food was one of the best Thai we have had. We have a go to Thai place but decided to try this one. It was only my daughter and I so all we had was the fish cake appetizer which was so flavorful. Had to try the larb which is my daughter's favorite. After one taste, she was sold that this is her new favorite place. She also noticed that the portion is bigger. We also had the Tom Yum with prawns. Very good. The place as very clean. Staff was friendly. I like that they pay attention to detail even down to the dish where your bill comes "served" in. Got home and told my husband that we found a new Thai place!! read more

Most authentic tasting thai food I have had. Some thai restaurants have an over abundance of coconut, peanut or whatever but I felt like Siam Taste was well balanced. Even though It is plain and simple I loved the Roti!! Pad Thai was one of (if not THE) best I have had. Coconut milk soup (tofu) was awesome too! I highly recommend this place if your in the area! on a whim, my co-worker and I yelped Thai near our new office, and what a wonderful surprise! I had the Cod, wrapped in banana leaves brown rice. So good! Spicey, but not so overpowering you couldnt taste the subtle light taste of the basil and the fish. We sat outside and the weather was perfect! Great lunch experience. This is probably the worst Thai restaurant experience I've ever had... So it was a saturday noon, I just stopped by to get some Pad Thai. When I came in, the waiter never asked, or even looked at me meanwhile only like 4 people in the restaurant... After like a while he finally came and bring me to the table. I have to say, Pad Thai here is the worst. Bad smell, probably caused by how they deal with the noodles. The noodle itself is too soft like overcooked. I tried different Pad Thai in lots of Thai restaurants like MaMa's in San Mateo and Old Siam in San Francisco, but I'm sorry this place serves the worst one. I had Pad Thai with chicken for lunch. It looked more like something from a supermarket re-hydrate and eat than a prepared to order meal and the speed with which it arrived at my table reinforced this impression. The noodles were properly cooked, but that was the only good thing about the dish. It was one dimension-ally sweet and tasted overwhelmingly of scrambled eggs. The accompanying soup was tasteless, I have no idea where the flavor in the veggies went, but it wasn't into that broth. At least the fried wonton and egg roll were crispy, if also mostly flavorless. Just had lunch here: $45 bucks for two people 2 lunches, coconut water, and corn fritters. which wouldnt' be bad, but that price range usually carries more quality. tasteless corn fritters: mushy not crispy, no real taste fatty, no vegetables ginger veg. tofu: over salted, greasy, no vegetables in sight over salted, no vegetables green curry: very watery, oil slick on top, no vegetables, frozen mix? over priced, dishonest coconut water: brown matured coconut cut open and coconut water from a bottle poured in to give the appearance of a fresh coconut. lol brown coconuts don't have a center full of water, green ones like in the menu picture, maybe, but they definitely served us a brown one with mature, hard flesh and a spoon as if we were going to rake the sides to get a few bites of coconut flesh. highly recommend taking two seconds to look 10 feet away for better food. my stomach doesn't feel so good after eating here. read more

Ordered some take out today. We ordered padthai, pineapple fried rice, green chicken curry, yellow chicken curry and yellow pumpkin curry. The food tasted average. We also ordered mango sticky rice, very sweet mango (almost too sweet even). It was a decent meal I guess. But why I minus three stars is because the reaction that I got after eating them. I started coughing a lot. And I only do this whenever I eat oily food or deep fried food or MSG. So either the food are oily or they contain MSG. I am new to the area and wanted to try a good Thai place as I was craving Tom Kha soup. This is one of the best I have had, and the chicken satay with peanut sauce is absolutely delicious! My wife and I are locals of Sunnyvale so we frequent Murphy street often. However for as much foot traffic there is in the area, you would think we would have better food options!! There are only a handful of places on the street we are committed to. We've walked by Siam Taste more than a few times but I guess we always hesitated because of their reviews. One evening we were finishing up having drinks at Paul & Harvey and we broke down and decided to try Siam Taste since we were only a few doors down. It was getting late so we called in a to go order of Chicken Pad Thai (one of our favorite dishes) We are both Thai lovers and I would have to say their Pad Thai was actually really good! I loved the texture and flavors. I would have to agree with other yelpers that it is a little pricey that is why we opted to get one dish and share. Nevertheless, the price matched the portion and we are always happy with that equation. We cannot comment on the service because we've only ordered to go the last couple of times, but the employees could be a little more welcoming and friendlier. We ordered a spice level of 7 for our last visit and it was too hot for my wife but I enjoyed the kick. I would recommend 5 being a safe number for those who like a little spice but don't want to be sweating through their meal. We will eventually venture out to trying other things on the menu but at least I can say we have a go-to Thai place in walking distance and another good option while in downtown. read more

No, no, no. Thai food is tricky: when it's good, it's magnificent. When it's bad, it's terrible. I was really disappointed in Siam Taste. We wandered in one afternoon for a late lunch. I was excited because the sign in the window said "Formerly Amarin." Let me digress for a moment: we had eaten at Amarin in Mountain View a couple weeks before and my vegetarian Rama Thai was amazing: generous portions of soy protein and tofu, tender spinach, perfect peanut sauce. The combo might sound funny but it's delicious. We sat down excitedly and perused the menus. I ordered the Rama Thai again, as it's my favorite dish and if they'd retained even part of Amarin's recipe, it would be great. Well, there's a reason for the word "formerly" in their sign. A big one. The menu is quite similar to Amarin's, but the ingredients are less complex here; things are left out or changed. They obviously borrowed heavily from their previous incarnation menu-wise, but sadly that doesn't seem to include the recipes. It was a hot day and the whole restaurant was hot and stuffy. The decor was unremarkable but any efforts at ambiance were made pointless by the large TV over the door that was tuned to the Disney Channel, for some reason. It would have been forgivable...although I wasn't thrilled to notice what appeared to be a couple of people eating in the rear kitchen. I'm pretty sure that's not supposed to happen in a restaurant. Our food arrived and we dug in. I immediately noticed the small, stingy amount of tofu in the Rama (no soy protein). There was, contrastingly, an excessive amount of peanut sauce drowning what appeared to be spinach salad mix. After I ate some of the top layer of the dish, things reshuffled a bit to reveal a HUGE pool of reddish-brown oil. I wish I were exaggerating, but it looked like 40% of the "peanut sauce" was pure, clear oil. I had to drain my spinach before I ate it, and even then the sauce was meh, definitely not worth the oiliness. I sadly asked my dining partner how his curry was. He said it was not great. I hope his was better than mine, is all I can say. We regretfully paid nearly $30 for our lunch, an expensive lesson. My stomach felt vaguely sick for the rest of the evening and into the night; I took home the rest of my dish but I'm tossing it. If your system, like mine, doesn't do well with oil then avoid this place, or at least anything with peanut sauce here. It sounds like some people liked their food, but our trial was disappointing to the point where we will not come back. There are far better places to eat in the area! read more

This is my favorite Thai restaurant. The first time my wife and I went there we didn't know our way around the menu. We just picked what sounded good. My wife ordered the Crab Fried Rice and absolutely loved it. I usually get the yellow curry chicken but tried the green curry chicken last time. Both are excellent dishes. The waitress is great, she always remembers us even if we haven't been there in months. Parking is going to be a challenge, especially on a Friday or Saturday night. The only thing I don't care for is the TV playing and that's a minor gripe. Everything else is top notch. read more

My family and I love to come here whenever we crave thai food but are too lazy to drive far. The place is a great place to just relax and enjoy some authentic thai food. I have tried a lot of items on their menu like the hot and sour soup, panang curry, basil chicken, red curry, pad see ew noodles, and spicy pan fried noodles. The only dessert I have tried here is the homemade jackfruit ice cream, which is definitely rare to find around here. Definitely a place to try if ever in the area! read more

My husband had chicken yellow curry-- heavenly curry-- so good. I had a few bites from his. I had Honey Beef. It is so good. The beef is tender and cooked just right --- not dry like other Thai places I went! Also the menu is much different from others. I didn't heard of honey beef so it is a first. Then we had dessert -- our favorite from Thai places -- Roti with condensed milk. So good but wished add little more condensed milk .. Bad service, bad quality I spent 40 dollars on two plates that were suppose to come with shrimp. I only had 3 shrimps in soup. I'm disappointed because I usually love to support small business but I won't be coming back after I asked if I can get napkins and lemons I was told "can't you look for yourself" this is not how you answer to your customers. Went here for lunch in a group of 6. The service is poor and almost non-existant. Once we ordered and received our lunch, the servers never bothered to check if we needed anything more. Nobody was even at the cash register to send out somebody else. The thai ice-coffee was smelly and nothing compared to what we had at other Thai restaurants. The portions for all our orders were too small. The taste and flavors weren't anywhere near other thai restaurants we have tried.
