I have never experienced such poor service in my life and I'm from the east coast. When we entered the restaurant, we were not greeted at all. The host simply said "two?" and pointed to a table. I would not have been offended, understanding that there may be a language barrier, however I heard exchanges with other customers that indicated his english was sufficient enough to mutter 'hello'. After waiting over 5 minutes with our menus closed (we were the ONLY customers in the restaurant, literally) I had to ask the waitress to take our order. Based on her response, you would have thought I just asked her for a kidney! The food was decent but it is difficult to have an unbiased palate when your service is so poor. Two appetizers and entrees later, a $70 bill arrived. That amount of money for mediocre food, the least I expect is a smile. read more

We walked into this restaurant for dinner last night. We were seated immediately. From the beginning till the end we seemed to be rushed. They had an hour and fifteen minutes to close and yet they seemed to be in a hurry. We ordered deep fried taro and small coconut soup as appetizers. They were delicious(and hence the two stars). Then came the entrées- veg chow mein and yellow curry powder fried rice. Both the entrées were very bland. Yellow rice tasted like rice and turmeric powder - the potatoes in the rice were boiled without salt and hence tasted like starch. The chow mein was better when compared to the rice but was nothing compared to chow mein in other places. We had also ordered wine as they had their promotion of buy 1 wine and get 1 free. We had a glass of house merlot and white Zinfandel each and both were bad. Towards the end of dinner we were asked if we were ready for our check and when we said we r not done yet, the host just placed his book on our table and said 2 minutes. After my dad came back from Thailand, he decided that it was time to introduce to us the taste of Thailand. I've already tasted thai food. I went to Krung Thai and had the most amazing Pad Thai and Crab fried rice. So i was pretty excited to go to Siam Taste. My dad just wanted some thai food close to home, so we came here. it's in a very good location i must say, so +1 star. it was in downtown sunnyvale. Very Asian looking. i liked it a lot. We got seated and started looking at the menus. the waitress was super impatient. jeez. kinda got me mad. after she took our order my dad asked for some tea for all of us. she only gave us one cup. my dad said i meant tea for all of us. the thing that got my dad mad was that she didnt care to explain that it was one cup of tea, and she didnt apologize or say anything besides "oh well". whatever. we got mad. i think they could tell, so the guy waiter came and helped us out. he was super nice while waitress came in once in a while with a sour face. WHATEVER. So we ordered a whole bunch of food. This one sweet and sour soup was kinda sour hahah lol but thats how it was supposed to be hahaha. not my type haha We also had this papaya salad. not so great. maybe cuz i dont like papaya hahaha. lol. but my youngest sister thought it was ok. The food is medicore and restaurant feels old. A soup is served before serving food. The soup had way too much tomato which made it difficult to drink. I ordered the pad Thai chicken. It was easily the worst pad Thai I've had in my life. There was no flavour, it was very tangy and the chicken was chewy (not fresh) . I had to pour hot sauce to mask the horrible tangy flavour. We went here as a large dinner party (about 15-20 people), and while it was a tight fit, we fit nonetheless. I was a little bit unsure about the restaurant as it was pretty much empty when we entered (there were two other people there). The staff was very accomodating, and was able to add more tables and seats as needed. I should probably mention that I love eating spicy food. I had Indian roommates, and I ate spicier than they did, but because I'm white, I frequently have difficulty getting spicy food at asian restaurants (particularly Indian and Thai). As such, a measure of a restaurant for me is whether or not they're not only willing to accept a spicy order from me, and beyond that, whether or not they actually make the food truly spicy. This place delivered in spades. They accepted my order of "as spicy as possible" with equanimity, calling it "Thai Hot", and the food was great. I really don't recommend you order this unless you know what you're doing. The presentation of the dishes was fantastic. There were coconuts, etc, galore, and everything looked really nice. Members of the party were taking photos of their food because it looked almost too pretty to eat. Their Thai Iced Tea was great, and they brought large amounts of rice to share, so that everyone could just take what they wanted. Portions were the right size (although I guess they could have been a bit bigger, but we're really used to such big portions in the US ...), and the food was, while perhaps not the best Thai food I've ever had, really right up there. All in all, this is now my go-to Thai restaurant. Although it's a bit of a drive from Mountain View (well, compared to Castro Street), it's definitely worth it, and I have to say, I didn't see any evidence of the poor experiences that some other reviewers have had here. That being said, I've only been once, but I'll definitely be back. To conclude, the service was good, food was great, and it was a good experience. One nice touch was that the guy split our check so that everyone could pay individually. I've been to a lot of restaurants in this area where they'll balk at splitting the check more than two or three ways, but this wasn't the case here. There was a bit of confusion getting the orders for all 20 of us, but I'm not going to give them grief for that, since there were a lot of us, and ultimately everyone got what they ordered. read more

Good food and good service. Last time we were there, my food was a little too spicy for my taste. Our waitress noticed that I was eating kinda slow so she asked if I wanted to have it mild down and then took it back to the kitchen to take down the spice. Most of the food we've had here have been pretty good, better than most places I've been to. Prices are similar to others. The only thing I wish would be better is their appetizers. This place was exceptionally good the chicken fried rice was awesome, its "wetter" then traditional rice but very very tasty in fact its so good we have become "regulars" now. I also love their spring rolls (the fried ones) my husband loves the spicy catfish and our vegetarian buddy is working his way through the vegetarian menu He loves EVERYTHING so far. The staff is really nice and always has a smile for us. The water glasses stay filled and the tai ice tea is GREAT... Go there you wont be dissapointed. the pad thai is also very good. My husband plays at the pro-jam at Muphy's Law, and when ever we do, we always go to Siam Taste to eat before the jam. The waitress remembers us and is just great! We usually thy different things on the menu and have brought our vegetarian friend with us, there is plenty for him to choose from. The honey pork is the best! that over rice and I'm set! I waited 12 hours after eating here to post this review, so I would have something positive to say. TLDR Version: Just don't go here. Let the place die in peace. That's obviously what the staff and chef want and it's what's best for public health... PROS: 1) Twelve hours later, surprisingly, I have not suffered from food poisoning. YAY I'M ALIVE! CONS: 1) Horrible service. Made you feel like you were imposing on their evening by coming in and expecting to be fed. 2) Disgusting venue. Seriously so gross... Just look up and wonder 'Does none of that dust/mildew/grime ever fall in the food?'. 3) Disappointing food. I had the green curry chicken (an easy dish), my fiance had lamb chops w/ panang curry (their self-proclaimed special). Both were bland. My chicken had obviously seen better days (like last week when it was likely first cooked). Her lamb was outright raw and when we mentioned to the staff they just mumbled something and walked off. Both currys had problems. 4) Bad value. Prices were solid at an avg ~$15 entree, also you need to pay for orders of rice. Randomly chose this place while waiting for the caltrain. We got the combination appetizer and the green curry chicken. The combination appetizer had a good variety (egg rolls, fish cake, angel wing, chicken satay). The egg rolls were ok. The fish cake was different, had a strong lemongrass? taste. The angel wing was pretty good. The chicken satay was cooked well but the sauce for it kind of lacked flavor. The green curry was pretty spicy (we didn't specify a spiciness so i think they defaulted to medium). Standard green curry so it was good. So the green curry chicken, combo appetizers, and a bowl of white rice came out to about $31. Pretty steep to me so if I'm ever in the area, I probably won't be stopping by again since I can get more affordable and better tasting thai food elsewhere. read more

We came here as it seemed to be the only place still serving food around 10pm on Thursday night. The server was pretty short with us. When he would come asking what we wanted, if we didn't make up our minds in 5 seconds he would walk off (there was only one other table occupied, it's not like he didn't have time to wait). First friend ordered pad thai and said it was ok. Second friend had the bangkok chicken with tofu substituted and she enjoyed it. I had the crab cake app (actually has crab, pork and another meat mixed together) and I thought they were good, plum sauce was great. We sat outside, so I didn't really see the interior. The bad part was the day after. My first friend was extremely sick (the kind where you can't leave the bathroom). The second friend had a somewhat upset stomach that morning and I was ok. I'll think twice about eating here again after the food sickness and the weird service. There are other options available on Murphy for Thai food. This place is your typical thai cuisine restaurant. The food is pretty good however it is extremely expensive for what you are getting. One time, I got the crab fried rice which only contained a piece of crab claw and a few scatter crab meat. It cost me nearly 15 dollars for a togo box that was half full. Here comes my first review and too bad its gonna be a critic. I went to do some book shopping at Leigh's and while I was finished its about dinner time, there is huge varieties of option on the Murphy's but somehow I feel like eating Thai tonight so I walked into Siam's taste. Although it's dinner hour there are only a few customers in the restaurant. I ordered the house special fried rice( the pineapple fried rice) and it turned out the be a huge disappointment. They served really quick , probably after five minutes i ordered. The dish really doesn't look pleasant ,wrapping up in coil paper ,not in a fancy way, that's why I didn't even bother to take a photo. But let's don't judge the book by its cover, and start digging. The rice is fried ok, each of them separated, but I cannot taste Thai out of it, the ingredients all went wrong, and here comes the worst part, the rice beneath is cold! I seriously doubt if this was microwaved before serving, which explains perfectly why it was served in such a timely matter, and guys, if you are really microwaving good do it in a professional way, make sure it's well heated! Great food but horrible location! We came here for lunch around 3:30pm and it was like a ghost town. I noticed on a note that they remodeled, but I haven't been here before today so I can't say if it's better or worse, hopefully not worse. Anyways, we were starving so we got right to it. Its not the best Thai but it has some good deals for lunch. I went here with my sister and boyfriend for lunch and they have a great lunch menu. It comes with veggies and rice for most of the special. I got a pan noodle dish that was delish--it was like a veggie chow fun. My boyfriend got the "King Supreme" and it was a delish chicken veggie stir fry with that yummy peanut sauce they serve with satay on top of it. My sister got the curry and it is like most typical yellow curry. If you are ever in Murphy Square I recommend this place for lunch. read more
