I loved this place! We took and chance and called late on a beautiful Wednesday evening and they had space for us on the outdoor patio, overlooking the golf course and lake. It's a gorgeous space (part clubhouse, part public restaurant) and they have done a wonderful job with the menu and aesthetics. They allow you to bring your own wine for an average corkage fee and the service was great. We ordered both the Country Berkshire Pork Shoulder Panini and the Handmade Oregano Gnocchi. The panini is plenty for two or leftovers for lunch the next day. It was very flavorful and tasty, served with fries. The gnocchi was absolutely delicious with a variety of wild mushrooms, parmesan cream sauce, and tomatoes. I highly suggest ordering it with the pasteurized egg on top. It's well worth the calories! We completed our meal with their Signature 32 Layer Chocolate Cake. It is quite the marvel to say the least! The chocolate mousse and cherry sauce were very prominent, reminding me of a chocolate bread pudding consistency, which I loved. There are so many things on the menu that I would love to try, so we will most definitely be returning and highly suggest you make your way out to Lenexa as well! read more

Amazing restaurant with great food and a beautiful view! Stopped by on a Saturday afternoon and sat on the patio outside. There was plenty of seating both indoor and outdoor. You can see the entire golf course and fountain from the patio, and it's stunning really. If you're into that kind of stuff. We started off with the charcuterie board, and my oh my was I blown away. It was adequately stocked with fresh fruits, meats, cheese, bread, honey, and mustard seeds! It's probably my favorite charcuterie board I've had at a restaurant. For our mains we ordered the Brioche Short Rib Sandwich and Silo Half Chicken. The short rib was so tender it practically melted in my mouth, and not in the soggy/mushy way. Just so tender. The chicken dish was bomb as well - came with chicken in three ways; fried, seared, and in salad form. It was delicious, but you really have to be in the mood for a lot of chicken! First time dining here and was pleasantly surprised. This is a Farm to Table restaurant to start. My sister had been thinking about the prime rib sandwich for over a week and was very satisfied with the presentation, the portion and its flavor. Instead of the standard fries, she substituted for mashed potatoes and said they were ok. I on the other hand tried something out of my comfort zone. I went for the Vegetable Pot Pie and was very spontaneous and added chicken. To start, there was a twist..... instead of the standard Pie crust they use a sweet potato biscuit. This added a hint of sweetness to blend with the savory that came with the vegetables. As for the vegetables inside they used diced blue potatoes, peas, carrots and a creamy corn.. Very tasty. We left feeling satisfied and thankfully not overstuffed. For next time we hope to bring a couple more people to try the 32 layer chocolate cake for dessert !! Ordered to-go food on Friday afternoon around 2pm. Girl who took order was super friendly and thorough. 5 stars for the Miso Salmon. It was amazing. And they did an amazing job with it being a to-go order. Yum. It just became a new pregnancy craving of mine, and I will probably be back for it in the next week lol I also ordered the Catch Of The Day, which was a grouper with coconut curry sauce. The fish was nice and flaky, and cooked nicely. It really didn't have much seasoning on it, which I expected was due to it being served with coconut sauce. Unfortunately, the sauce really lacked flavor. The carrots were pretty much raw. If that was how they were intended to be served for texture or whatever, I wasn't a fan, and would recommend getting them steamed or sautéed. Would be 5 stars if not for the grouper dish. read more

I have to be honest, I thought I had posted a review of Lenexa's hidden gem 2 months ago. I'm so glad that I hadn't. The review I was going to post was great, but it was a 'Fabulous place for HH. And the staff was great. And they have a new Restaurant Manager that my husband and I adore. Adam!!!' Not really specific, right? Well, I am so pleased that I forgot to do that because now I have a BETTER review to post. We went tonight. And WOW!! I have never dined there before. HH: check Brunch: check DINNER!! Holy Moley! AMAZING!! Adam, who we feel in love with 2 months ago, still there, and doing an outstanding job. You've never meet anyone so friendly, smart and engaged with the community. Then we were blessed with Shannon, our waitress, who was so knowledgeable about the food and led us to having one of my favorite meals of all time. Plus, it was our Anniversary, and went out of her way to take time for us, though I'm sure she was extremely busy. These are seriously fabulous people. Now I have to tell you about the kitchen. My husband got the Silo Half Chicken. Chicken done perfectly 3 ways. Fried, Broiled and Salad. Tender moist and lovely. (Frankly, we should have shared.) I ordered the Pork Chops. Juicy in a cherry Demi-glaze and the size of my head. Set on a Sage sauce that I will dream of recreating. The prices were a bit steep, until you saw the servings. I'm not going to fib, we love leftovers, but I will be having this for the next couple of days. And am thankful, because everything was so well made. And did I mention what a spectacular setting this restaurant is in??? Overlooking a gorgeous golf course with the sunset off to our right. B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L!!! We went here for a friends birthday on Friday night. Had a reservation for four at 8 PM. We were there slightly before eight, and ended up having to wait until about 10 after four a table to open up. We did get a lovely table right next to the windows out overlooking the fountain. Fantastic view, and our waitress was wonderful. They have a great selection of food, some nice drinks, and wine list as well. The wine list isn't very extensive, but they do have some good selections, which aren't too overpriced. We started with a charcuterie tray, which was really good. It had the whipped goat cheese, which was fantastic with the local honey and some of the other accoutrements. I ended up having the scallops, and others in my party had Boursin encrusted fillet, the ribeye, and crabcakes and a salad. I also had a Bibb wedge salad to start, which was really good. For dessert, we got a carrot cake, which was really quite wonderful because the icing wasn't too overly sweet. The only issue that I had were the prices. I do understand farm to table is going to be more expensive, but this seemed excessive. All in all it was a wonderful meal, and I probably would go back. Might look at some of the lower end entrées next time, and there were some recommendations that we didn't get to try obviously. read more

Was super excited to come in to check this place out for lunch. I have tried getting a Sunday brunch reservation previously but they are typically booked solid so I had high hopes! Our server was nice and welcoming and the atmosphere was great as its location sits on beautiful land and the big windows allow for you to soak up the beauty of the surrounding area. I ordered the half Caesar salad with shrimp and French fries to eat. The salad was good the crispy anchovies were a great addition. (4/5). The French fries were fine but lacked a bit of flavor/seasoning(3.5/5). Yummy! I had no idea this was connected to a golf course, so make a reservation, because this place gets busy. The best thing about this place is just how many gluten free, fresh options there are. My sensitive belly really appreciated that. Happy hour has a pretty decent selection of apps and drinks. We started for the hummus plate, which was delicious, and had so many pairings. Their bourbon smash was delicious, less sugary, but loads of flavor from the blackberries. Since the hummus plate was so large, I ordered only half of their chicken cobb. This was my first visit to Silo Modern Farmhouse and it did not disappoint! A group of girlfriend and I attended the monthly wine sampling and it was fantastic! The evening featured delicious heavy appetizers as well as 6 samplings of wines. I wouldn't really consider the pour of wine a sample - they were full size glasses. I feel like this place is overpriced for one thing. It seems like it tries to be "fancy" making up ridiculous names for menu items instead of just "french fries" it calls them "Garlic Herb Shoestring Potatoes". Which by the way they were ice cold when I got them. The burger was ok, but it barely stayed together. The bun fell a part very easily. The service was a little slow. They keep the dining area clean. We went for dinner on October 1st. We have been a handful of times. Tonight I chose the Beef Short Rib with Sweet Potato Ragu. The presentation and serving size was quite nice, but that is where it ended. I actually have a medical condition that requires me to be on a high salt diet, so I do lots of salt. But this dish was so salty I could barely eat it. I ate some thinking, well at least I'm getting my sodium, but blah!! It was terrible, all I tasted was salt!! No beef, no sweet potato, just salt. So to the Chef making this concoction, taste, taste, taste and taste again before you decide whether or not it's good enough to serve. This recipe as it is, is a big fail, at least October 1st it was. I brought home over half just to be polite, but it will probably go in the trash unless I can recreate the saltiness into short rib soup, might be worth a try! Other than that, our server was nice and attentive, I could tell he was new, but he did good. Side salad was great, ranch dressing is really tasty. Bread bowl is yummy and the new Lemon Curd Cake for dessert was good, very lemony and sweet, but good. I'm sorry I didn't take a pictures, but as always, the few is great. read more

My second visit to Kansas City brought me back to Silo and it didn't disappoint. It wasn't a one off got lucky with my choice. The employees are first rate. From the bartenders to the waitress who helped us, they are shining stars over the wonderful cuisine centerpiece of the restaurant. We had the goat cheese and crostini to start and I followed that bit of heaven with their steak salad. It was amazing! And oh, the burrita was unexpectedly amazing. With nice indoor and outdoor dining setting next to a green belt of a golf course, the place is indeed stylish inside out. The food quality is decent. Serving portion is generous. The whipped goat cheese was local, paired with honey, speck,grilled garlic crostini, tasted sweet and salty. Nicely done! I had salt smoked beets salad, in which the whipped local goat cheese with the pistachio butter had won my heart twice in a row, Yum! We ordered burger, salmon, flatbread. Everyone was happy. I've been back a handful of times now - a couple times for dinner and once for a work dinner. The appetizers continue to wow. We got one of each for the work dinner and I don't think anyone had a complaint about them. The pierogis + pork belly, the whipped goat cheese, the shrimp + grits, and the charcuterie boards were my favorites. I ordered the pan-seared togarashi ahi tuna with black sushi rice and (sub) broccolini. One of my favorite places! Extensive menu with dozens of delicious entrees, desserts, sides, and salads. The view is spectacular overlooking a golf course and pond with fountain. Choose between dining room seating or outside on the surrounding deck. My favorite is the Honey Whipped Goat Cheese charcuterie and Shrimp & Grits. The crème brûlée is my favorite dessert. The chocolate cake is popular and definitely eye catching but has a different taste more like soggy wafers and not actual cake more like strategically stacked mush. They have brunch every holiday but you have to get reservations early they book up quickly. The staff is very welcoming and attentive which is always a nice touch. Definitely nice for group dinners-we went for a birthday! The portions here are actually quite large. I thought the food we ordered was good, but definitely on the saltier side. I also thought some options on their menu didn't match the name of the dish. For example, there's an entree option called "Agedashi tofu," which is a Japanese dish and typically is made with a broth and a soy based sauce. However, from their description, their dish had rice and gochujang (Korean spicy pepper paste) sauce. I appreciate fusion of cuisines and such, but I think if this is the case the name should be modified to reflect such changes. read more

My wife and I attended an 80's themed costume party at the Silo this past Halloween weekend. The staff was dressed up for the event while the restaurant was decked out in style making the atmosphere feel electric. This has been the third time eating at the Silo and it has been nothing short of fantastic every time! The crab cakes were excellent! Tons of flavor, cooked to perfection. The wedge salad admittedly looked unappealing when brought out to us. That was not the case. Very fresh tasting and bursting with flavor. We had the tomahawk ribeye (no pic). Super expensive and asked for it to be cooked medium. It came out rare in some spots and medium rare in others which is disappointing. However, it was still delicious. The ambiance was super laid back, we felt welcomed and cozy! John was our server and he was extremely polite and went above and beyond for us, specially because we were first timers.
