I should have paid attention to the reviews before. They say this is a 4 Star restaurant but I don't know many 4 Star restaurants that precook salmon. Honestly the salmon tasted like it was left over and recooked from 2 days ago (done to the point you had to wash every bite down. Some of the green beans are bad (brown in color). Let's just say food and produce is my specialty. Also saige had a bad attitude as hostess. I will say the French onion soup was the only thing that was good. Even the kids pizza was burned on top and not cooked throughout. My husband got a steak sandwich was very good. read more

The Silverpine and has only been open a month at the time of this review. The restaurant, as with the hotel, has a very upscale feel to it. That being said, my wife and I are truck drivers and decided to have dinner here. We were slightly underdressed but we were greeted very amicably and treated very well. Our server was very knowledgeable about the menu as well as their extensive collection of craft beer. The only complaint was that the salads were served at the same time as the meals. The food was great. I had the rib eye steak and my wife, the fettuccine alfredo. The steak was seasoned and cooked to medium well perfection. Overall a great dining experience. read more

Sisters! I LOVE this place. How many sports bars have I entered in my life? There is ALWAYS some men's sports event on the main screen. Well, THIS time I strolled up to the front desk, and what do I see on the main TV display in the bar? WOMEN'S Fast pitch finals. Women's softball! I'm an old lady and it was an absolute delight to see women athletes competing and people are watching. Young women all over this country and elsewhere get to SEE athletes who look like them. Came in from out of town to take my mother out for her birthday. Have eaten here before since they remodeled and she like it, so I made a reservation, letting them know it was a special occasion, for a Friday night at 7. Arrived about 10 minutes early. The young man at the reception counter asked if I had a reservation and I said we did. When I told him my name, he said he had a table for us and was going to check to make sure it was ready. As he turned to go check the table , a young woman told him she had just given away the table he had reserved especially for us. The look on his face was priceless. He was clearly embarrassed since this conversation took place in front of us. She didn't appear to care. So... she said she would take care of us. She took us to a table in the middle of the room with a spotlight shining on it. This was about as far as you could get from the experience I was expecting from this establishment. I asked if she had something not in the middle of the foot traffic of the servers and she offered a booth somewhere, you know, like Denny's. Trying to make the best of it and not wanting my mother to feel bad, I said we would make the table work. So much for the good points. You need to understand that this restaurant hires much of its service staff from NAU, which is fine, but clearly they lack training on proper server behavior in a fine dining establishment. During the entire meal, much of the wait staff hung out at a booth close to ours, ignoring their customers. Maybe this only happens on Saturday nights when friends come in, but it is not the type of atmosphere this place is trying to portray, unless I am mistaken. Maybe I'm wrong on this and it is just another glammed-up truck stop. The food? We were informed we were lucky because the head chef was working tonight. That's sad. My wife ordered the flat iron steak, which I have had on one other visit. It was ordered medium rare and came out rare. It was served with broccolini, which was like straw and had all of the flavor cooked out of it. My prime rib, ehhh... cooked fine but little to no flavor. Thank goodness we recognized a wine on the menu. Safe bet there. So the reason for the two stars? The atmosphere, not the way the room looks, but the skills of the wait staff, was seriously Denny's level. Not knocking Denny's, but I expected more from a $140 bill for three of us. The food? Maybe it was an off night. Unfortunately, I don't have plans to find that out. BTW, I'm not a tourist passing through. I lived in Flagstaff most of my life, as has my mother. Hubby and I went to the newly remodeled bar for HH. Limited food menu, I thought, but we were close enough to dinner service for me to order French Onion Soup from the dinner menu. I think it was the most disappointing soup ever. It was oily, over-seasoned with thyme, the onions weren't caramelized and there weren't enough of them. The crossanti was good but the soup was too salty. Always a risk with French onion soup. Hubby's fish tacos off the bar menu were good. Wine was too expensive in my HH experience elsewhere. But, the Christmas lights are gorgeous every year. And the server from Hawaii (who's name I can't pronounce !) was lovely, friendly, efficient and fun to chat with. We'll return for each Christmas season but probably not any other time. But GREAT job on the remodel! read more

My husband and I wanted to go out for an early Christmas dinner at Little Americas Silver Pine so we could walk around viwing XMas lights also. There had been a Christmas brunch that ended at 2pm. We choose a ham dinner and a turkey dinner. We at around 430. Both dinners were cold, dry and overdone. We believe it may have just been food from the brunch, not sure. We told server but they were baffled so just ignored complaint. Not a pleasant dinner. I guess one should not eat at these holiday gigs after the brunch is over. read more

Awful service. Never again. Went there for breakfast buffet. There were 5 empty tables and they told us 30mins wait. There are 3 Unfriendly moody Hostesses chatting doing nothing and very little waiters. Food is just ok. Ordered room service they said it would take 45 mins, then called 30mins later to say they did not have one of the items saying it would take another 45mins. Then someone called saying food would be ready in 10mins. I Guess the people that answer the phone have no clue and are very rude. Never again! read more

I enjoy spending my weekends in Flagstaff in the summer and Scottsdale in the winter. The newly remodeled Silver Pine has become my "Scottsdale" home away from home. I've now had a few lunches and a few dinners here and everything I've had is quite delicious. Definitely 5-star resort style ambiance and dining experience. I have been there enough times to make my way through the specialty drinks menu and all (except for one involving frothy egg whites, which is just not my thing) are quite delicious are refreshing. The bar staff is extremely friendly and very capable of making whatever you want, even if you don't really know what you want. Two suggestions would be 1) a happy hour menu for drinks and tapas type food and 2) bring back the French onion soup!! read more

Was told 15 minute wait. It took them 30min to acknowlge me and even then the waiter hurried by me 3 times saying he would be right with me to take my drink order. That never occured, finally went to the bar and ask for a water. It took another 5 minutes for the bar tender to even acknowledge my presence. When I asked to order my food to go (from out of town and waited 45min, every other place but denny's was closed by now) Then of corse they offered me bread and tried to cater to my wants, which I no longer have patience for!! Ordered the French Onion soup ($6) for a quick lunch. Not edible, tasted and looked oily? I mean who can't make decent French onion soup. The wait staff said " your the third person who has said the soup was not good". ! They offered to either remove it from my bill or try the tomato and. Zucchini but I declined. The young food service manager said he tasted it back in the kitchen, agreed and blamed it on the early food prep cooks? Priceless! Strike three- your out- I will never return. The food is homemade which is always a big plus for me. Unfortunately, I had the Navajo frybread for appetizer and the tamale chicken pot pie for dinner. Neither were great, infact the potpie was very dry. Where the chef shined was in the desserts. My party had chocolate mousse cake and creme brûlée. Major snafu at Little America. Called a week ago and made a reservation. The girl asked "for the brunch?" and I said yes. So today we walk in and they say our reservation was canceled and we have to wait 2 hours. When we complained to the manager he insisted they don't take reservations for less than a party of 12 and to the many upset people around him (apparently we weren't the only ones they screwed up) said "beating me up isn't going to help. " Well, no it won't. Honoring our reservation would. They clearly had a lot of problems today that need to be fixed before the Christmas brunch. Maybe taking reservations for EVERYONE is the answer so you don't have 2 hour waits. read more

Beautiful decor, but the service was slow and the food was mediocre at best. We were a party of seven so I was able to sample that many different dishes. Great lodge! Terrible restaurant. Overpriced meals, slow service. We never got offered bread like everyone else and they brought us desert with no spoons to enjoy it with. My family and I staying in the little America hotel for the North Pole experience. We decided to eat here for lunch before our trip to the North Pole. I noticed that the restaurant was very busy during lunch. I figured every other family was trying to have lunch before they leave to the North Pole. I was a server when I was younger so I understood that the kitchen can overloaded with orders and that the food may take longer. So parent to parents, I would plan to go earlier to eat or be ready to wait longer. I was okay with it. Just letting everyone know on here that it gets busy! The atmosphere has a nice upscale feel. Our server Amber was amazing! She checked with the chief to make sure their wouldn't be any food allergy problems for us. My kids also liked how friendly she was. Also you must order a hot chocolate here!Trust me, you're kids eyes will light! The food was delicious. My kids finished their hamburger and mac and cheese without me asking them to. Then my pastrami reuben was cooked to perfection. And they also have sweet potato fries which is a big plus for me because I can never find places that have them. Overall the dining for my boys and I was great. So I would give it a try. read more

We made a reservation while waiting for our shuttle to the North Pole Experience and were immediately seated upon arriving at the reserved time even though it was very busy. The atmosphere, service and food was excellent and we enjoyed looking out onto the grounds that were wonderfully decorated for the holidays. We are visiting Flagstaff for Thanksgiving week. About two months in advance, I started looking for the best place for our Thursday Thanksgiving dinner. My mom's a pescatarian and we have a toddler, so a buffet was my goal. The Silver Pine was highly rated as a place for Thanksgiving dinner, so I selected it and made a reservation for the early afternoon on Open Table. I received a phone call within a day or so advising me that they had erred in allowing a reservation for their brunch time of day, and that we could come in the evening for dinner with a reservation. I do not recall being advised that this would be a menu-only dinner, but agreed to change to a 6 pm reservation so we would be guaranteed a table (the brunch is open seating and it sounds like you have to stand in line for that). The day of the dinner we looked online to see what kind of buffet options we had. However, at this time, we realized that the dinner was menu-only. The website for the hotel clearly stated that in addition to the Thanksgiving menu, the regular menu would be available. Had that not been the case, we might have canceled our reservation and gone elsewhere. We arrived early (5:30) and had about 30 minutes to kill before being seated. This was easy to do because the gift shop at the hotel is very nice and the light show, which stretches throughout the grounds, was turned on at 5:45. Our son loved running through the lighted trees around the grounds. One disappointment during the wait was that the "North Pole Experience," an added attraction we were not participating in, had signage stating their gift shop was also open and we went eagerly to see this, but in fact it had been packed up and was just an empty room. This was a big disappointment (not to mention probably saved us $50 or so in gear that we didn't buy due to their decision to close the store). We were seated right on time at a lovely table with a view of the Christmas tree in the restaurant as well as next to a window looking out on the lights. The children's menu was basic but not terribly overpriced. However, we were surprised to learn that (website to the contrary) the regular menu was not available to order from, only the special Thanksgiving menu, which was more limited. My mom was able to find pescatarian-friendly items to order from, which was lucky. The waiter was very nice and accommodating. He swapped out the yams that would have come with my prime rib for smashed fingerling potatoes, and allowed my husband to add sage stuffing and cranberry sauce to his pork loin chop. His friendliness was a high point of the meal, as was the dinner, which was very good. The butternut squash soup and Caesar salads we had did not disappoint, either. The prices were reasonable ($9-$16 for wine by the glass, $5 for a local stout recommended in place of Guinness, which was a hit). Salads and soups were $7-$9 and the entrees ranged from $22 to $35, with sides a few dollars to add on. Given that we'd expected a buffet until about 4 pm this afternoon, we felt it was nice of the waiter to swap sides around and add some for us. The dessert was hit or miss and not a good value overall. My husband enjoyed the savory, rather than overly sweet, pumpkin pie (but wanted more than the small dollop of whipped cream it came with) and my mom had the berry pie. My pecan pie was not very good and my husband ended up finishing it. In addition to being a pretty small slice, it was overdone and difficult to cut through the pecans with my fork. For $8 a slice, the slices were small and the quality was more toward store-bought than homemade. The dinner was capped off, not in a good way, by the lack of any changing table in any bathroom, including the FAMILY bathroom, in the public area of the hotel. The hard marble countertop in the family bathroom was large enough for my son, but it was cold and I had to put his jacket down under his head. One of the staff told me the management felt they didn't like the idea of changing tables when they recently remodeled. That's completely ridiculous and I knocked a star off the overall review for this, so if you don't have a toddler you can add back a star. For a dinner that cost me $180 before the tip, in a hotel that clearly caters to families, I would have expected a place to change my toddler's poopy diaper without worrying he'd roll off and crack his skull open onto the floor. So - the pluses: Really friendly staff, great restaurant service, and good value on entrees and drinks. The lights on the grounds were a real treat. The minuses: North Pole Experience messed up with the brunch vs menu thing, and we expected a buffet but didn't get one; closing up their shop despite leaving signage in place otherwise was dumb on their part; the website was wrong in saying the full menu was available; the desserts were not a good value and the pecan pie wasn't good; and the inexplicable/maddening lack of a changing table even in the so-called family bathroom. read more

Had an impromptu lunch with Mom visiting from Phoenix, just the two of us. We were greeted and seated friendly & welcoming. The remodel is very appealing and soothing; and we were seated at the window with a stunning view of the grounds and patio with waterfall feature. We started with a Shrimp Cocktail appetizer that was excellent; the shrimp were jumbo and fresh-tasting, served on a bed of shredded lettuce, finely diced avocado and celery with cocktail sauce and a green chimichurri sauce with a dish of extra cocktail sauce on the side. We nearly filled up on the appetizer and house made rolls. We had each ordered the Pastrami Rueben; mine on their menu Rye Bread and Mom's on their available gluten free bread. I selected one of the sides, a corn pasta salad, and she chose a green salad alternative. Our sandwiches were generous and the sides fresh and satisfying. We each had to take home half of our entrees and were too full for dessert. This is my third visit since the reopening post remodel and each visit has been a very positive experience with excellent food and improving service. read more

Beautiful new setting with great service! Sitting at the bar, our party never ran dry of drinks and conversation with from Sean the bar manager. Our meals were delicious and of perfect proportions, no one left hungry. I recommend the ribs! Having said that, we wanted dessert, asking to split one order. This was not a problem for our server who happily brought 5 folks and 5 plates to accommodate. We also stayed at the hotel and received great service from the staff at the desk and house keeping. The room had a beautiful view of the pool. Being older we totally enjoyed the lack of noise even on the busiest weekend nights. read more
