Troy and his team showed up early to replace our furnace, AC, and thermostat and then completed the job early. It was fascinating watching professionals (e.g. the electrician, etc.) descend on our house in perfectly timed waves to drive the completion of this project forward. In addition, Jonatan, the estimator, did a great job of informing us of our options, costs, job completion, and the like. Everything he said would happen did happen. No surprises. As you Yelpers are all aware, good reviews come a bit more slowly than bad reviews. While this is sad, it is true. This is a good review! Skip to the bottom for the bottom line section...or stay with me for the details... Simpson installed a house wide mini-split system on an Eichler a little over two years ago. A mini-split is the system you will have in your house within a decade as they have been around for decades and are starting to catch on. They are the room heat/cool units on the wall that everyone says are ugly until they completely forget they are there. They are incredibly convenient and probably the cheapest solution out there. Very efficient and all electrical! An Eichler is a fancy smancy flat roof house that is a pain in the butt to service on just about every front. I have been modernizing this 50 year old house and the rewards are amazing...go check them out. The installation went fantastic and was complicated and not routine. I was the general contractor/owner on the big remodel and hawked them at every moment. They did not need any hawking. From John in management to Sara on the phone to Leo who installed (along with a bunch of other great people) things went swimmingly. Until they didn't. Two years later, actually a bit more than two years, enough to be out of a regular warranty. It is the challenging times that define a company (or person) and how they zig and zag through the problem. The problem was a condensate pump (not part of the mini-split) that is used at each of six locations to lift condensation up and out of the unit. Usually this would just dump out the wall outside...but remember...I have a fancy smancy Eichler. That setup was not possible. The pump acted strange and I did my best DIY approach only to realize that I could spend the next couple of days becoming a mini-split quasi expert or call Simpson. I figured it would cost me labor and materials and I might make an effort to have them cover the part...per our warranty. This is where all sorts of squirreliness could surface from Simpson. No squirrels. In fact, Leo, the original installer came out, checked things and discovered the piece of #$%& condensate pump failed. Great. He had one in his truck! He remembered the job and asked around if anyone had one in a service truck this morning. 30-45min later all set. And no charge. Bottom Line: Sorry you skipped to here, but suffice it to say Simpson installed a very big project and it had a small problem. They came right out and fixed it at no charge. I checked out many installers and they won my business. I made the right call with this company. To the troops at Simpson: Each and everyone of you that has come in contact with me have somehow managed to be nice, respectful and detailed with follow through. This is not easy to do and I know we have bad days, but even if one of you had one, I did not know it and that is what counts! Good work and all the best. I had Simpson Sheet Metal install a new, high efficiency Carrier furnace in my 24 year old home last November so it has been almost a year since the work was done. Simpson was not the cheapest quote, but it was a fair price for the work. I was having problems with my original furnace and since it was 24 years old, it was time for a new unit. The guy from Simpson was very helpful in describing the various choices I had and we zeroed in on the right unit for my application. Much better than the previous quote I received from another company where the guy who came out and quoted me the top of the line Carrier that had features that were not applicable to my situation. The young man who came out and installed the unit took two days and did a very clean and thorough installation. A year later and I am still very happy with the new furnace. My average utility bill has dropped over $20 per month during the months that I run the furnace so I know the new one is much more efficient and it heats the house up much faster! I called them on Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 PM for a nonemergency service call and was told by the woman who answered that the person that could assist me was on another line and that I would be called back. I left my contact information but never received a call back. I called them again on Wednesday morning at 8:30 AM. This time a man answered and told me that the girls were not in yet to schedule an appointment. I again left my contact information and was told that I would be called back. A little background; 2014 had Simpson install brand new heater and AC System including all new duct work! They did a fantastic job; House never warmed up or cooled down so fast. 5 Stars!! 2 years later I had a "plumber" install a gas line for a kitchen remodel, during that project he damaged a large portion of the duct work and never said a word! I thought I was installing the wrong filters so my ventilation was sub par. Recently I noticed some duct work had come off one of the floor registers. I called Simpsons and had them come out last week to repair and inspect the system. The tech went under the house and repaired the loose ducting and inspect the rest. When he was finished he said everything else was good! He did mention that it seemed a little wet under the house and said I should have a plumber come investigate. Ken Mays plumbing came out and were able to identify the source of the leak. The plumber mentioned to me that the main trunk of the HVAC Duct was smashed and torn! I called Simpson to let them know what was found; their response was that they were sorry to hear that and that they would send the same guy back out!! Really? The same guy that said everything was ok? I have nothing but respect for the men and women in the Trades, that being said, it is totally unacceptable to tell a customer that everything is good, when in fact it is not. And then charge $175.00 with a straight face. At this point I don't really know what to do or who to call?? FRUSTRATED After contacting John Roncone at Simpson Sheet Metal and expressing my concerns he and his employees went above and beyond to resolve the damaged duct work! Eric came out and replaced the damaged duct and pointed out a couple of potential problem areas relating to water collecting under the house during winter rains! The fact that I was not charged for Eric's time nor materials speaks to Simpsons overall customer service philosophy! If I hadn't been so frustrated after their first visit I would have and should have called John Roncone and I'm sure the result would have been the same; a satisfied and happy customer! We just had our new system put in this month. Once again, Simpson did a great job. John set up and designed a system and Jose was the lead installer. Both were a pleasure to work with, and they even finished ahead of schedule. One of our big concerns was hot/cold spots in the house due to the number of ducts and the size of rooms. Over 20+ years ago, I had Simpson Sheet Metal put in two forced air heating systems on our property, into two different houses. Both systems have always worked so well that I haven't needed to call them for anything major. I recently found out that one of the systems had a severed duct line to the air return, along with small tears to other parts of the ducts. Animals had made their way under the house and had torn the ducts, clogged the fan, and was allowing heat to escape under the house. The house still had heat so it went un-noticed for a while. I got three estimates to fix the problem. The first company said: "replace it all, it's so old and needs to be replaced". The second company only estimated replacing the duct with metal ducts. The third estimate was done by Simpson Sheet Metal. Within minutes of looking at the problem, John their estimator said "we can repair the ducts, and clean the system" for less than I expected. I explained that I needed it done as soon as possible because of the leak letting heat out under the house. He organized the crew, Mike and Jose, to arrive the next day. They not only fixed the problems quickly, but looked at the air return in the house to only see that it also could be improved to work better. I was so impressed with John's honest evaluation. My system was very old and yet was still viable, it just needed to be repaired and cleaned. That evening the heater went out again. I contacted John and he had another crew member Leo come out to fix the problem early the next morning. Again he located that a simple part had gone bad and replaced it. It had nothing to do with the repair they had done before. I recommend them to do all your heating and air conditioning work. What impressed me about this company is that John called to see if everything was working after the last repair. They really cared! You don't find that often enough. A neighbor recommended Simpson's and I had them quote me a new HVAC system to replace the 43-year-old original furnace and air conditioner in my home in Oakmont outside Santa Rosa. John Roncone gave me a $12,000 quote for a top-of-the-line Carrier Infinity system including tearing out the asbestos-covered ductwork under the house and replacing it a new 2nd air-return, new registers (outlets) in the floor, the whole nine yards per my request: I wanted the best. The quote included pulling the city permits. A dirtball from Moore quoted me $21,000 for the exact same system except that their 75% HIGHER quote did not include a fancy computerized controller, nor a 2nd return, and it included SMALLER ductwork. SO I got a BETTER system from Simpson at 40% off Moore's price. Simpson's did a great job, they did everything promised, did it on time and on budget. The city inspector looked over their work and said "great job, Simpson's always does great work, always meets code." I recommend them highly; ask for John, he's very knowledgeable and a no-BS guy. read more

Wow - AMAZING response and service. My heater blew up just as it was becoming shrinkage season. So, I am used to cold rooms, an homage to my years working at the coroner's office...but my new roomies - not so much. To complicate my life further the fire erupted and I now had two 80 year-olds staying with me, evacuated from the Kinkade - PGE nightmare. I needed a heater because the old guys were busting my chops daily. How do you live like this!" "It's like I'm already dead!" Simpson came to the rescue. Not only did they save the old guys from freezing but they saved my liver from me drinking to make the grumpy old men voices fade away. My first date with Simpson was with an awesome tech - Leo, who tried to make the old heater work and was not trying to twist my arm into a new heater. After all lifesaving efforts were attempted, alas, the heater crossed over to heater heaven and was consigned to the scrap pile...no longer heater if but now cold Steel. Simpson's reached out to me - I'd like to think it was because I was an awesome customer, but more likely they had openings because of the evacuations - either way, they still made me feel like I was king and were there THE NEXT DAY! The patron saint of heat would visit our home in hours. The job was done in about 4 hours and the pros at Simpson's were super clean. Can't say enough...or maybe I just did?
