I had been craving Kabobs lately. I hadn't really seen or noticed any places like that around here. I have driven down this street so many times before. Once I looked on yelp and found this place that is literally right around the corner from my house, I thought, I'm going to give it a try. It doesn't look like much from the outside. But once I came in and sat down, I was pleasantly surprised with the food. I tried 3 different kabobs. All three were delicious. And the employees are very nice as well. For an early father's day celebration, we ordered the 3 skewers combo plates, chicken wrap, beef wrap, lamb chops plate, chicken kabob plate, chicken n beef sharwama plates... All were delish. One thing I was dissapointed with was that the rice was not basmati rice, which I love...hence 1 less star... Other than that, definitely will come back. Food very goid. Service great. We've been going to JDO for years. The food has always been pretty good but not this time. We placed an order over the phone and when I placed the order I told the person that I would be paying cash (so that I don't have to pay the extra 3% credit card fee). When I arrived at the restaurant with cash the girl (Short, dark hair, pink strip of hair in the front, left eyebrow with a chunk of missing hair in the center and earring that looked like clavos) who rang me up told me that she didn't have the .68 change. I told her that I needed my change and that if they are charging a fee to pay with a CC you should have change so she gave me back 1.00. Personally I think the worker/cashier pockets the change as an additional tip for herself. I also think if they don't have the proper change to give back, Do they have money to buy Fresh chicken? After that she had an attitude. I nicely told her that I was going to go get the change from my wife who was driving around the block waiting for me. She continued serving the rice, ignored me and then she looked up and said "WHAT". I said "never mind" and walked out to get the change. When we got home with the food 1/2 of the chicken kabob was uncooked and the other 1/2 was so well done it was dried out like a shoe. Literally like it had been sitting out there all day! The pita was so crisp and dry it was like a chip. She only put the olive in the hummus one of the plates. The only thing that was decent was the rice. When I got home we were so disappointed with the food so I decided to call and speak to the manager but the girl who had rung me up and given me attitude said they were not there. I asked when they would be there because I would rather talk to someone instead of giving you a bad review on Yelp. She said I don't know when the owner will be in and I don't think he cares. Really disappointed in the changes this place has gone through, the staff that is running the restaurant and the quality of food, especially when you want your change back read more

This place is an absolute Gem in the city of Whittier. Delicious food loaded with flavor, clean from back to front, friendly service, and surprisingly reasonable prices. Here is what I ordered: chicken kabob, with rice pilaf, pita bread, garlic butter, tabouleh, and garlic potatoes. All for 8.99! The chickened was excellently seasoned and very moist. The fluffy bed of rice held the yummy chicken just right. The tabouleh bursted with citrus goodness, the potatoes had just the right texture and garlic flavor. Smear some of the garlic butter on your pita bread and it's over! You will leave this place wanting more, I promise you that. 5 Stars! read more

This is a tough one, ordered Chicken Shawarma platter with hummus and eggplant + an order of grape leaves + an order of falafel. The food was very okay. Platter was good, but barely got any pita bread. Grape leaves were overpriced and average. The falafel was laughable, each one was like the size of a quarter not sure what happened there. I will say, tried the Baklava and it is INSANELY GOOD. read more

Finally Whittier got a Mediterranean place! I doubt they'll last cuz all they got in Whittier is burritos. Burritos are gross, shawarma is what Iron Man eats. Go with Iron Man braaaa. Usually I have to go all the way to Montebello to get Mediterranean food from Ani's which is still good but for shawarma imma stick to this place. They also have it on that stick here. For started, Im glad I am being treated with respect. The last owner of Golden Ox was a real treat. I wouldn't say that the Mediterranean food was the absolute "best" I've ever had, but its wan't too bad. I love the fact that there portions are good, and that they serve Chicken Breast where most Mediterranean places many times serve Thigh for their Chicken dinners. The chicken was moist. The hummus was not very thick but it was tasty. The rice was pretty good given the fact that most rice dishes I see at other locations have too much buttery flavor but not here. Did a lunch trial at this new Mediterranean restaurant. Place is clean and seemed to have a good selection on menu. I ordered the chicken kabob plate with hummus and eggplant, also a side of beef kabob. Well unfortunately my order got a little messed up. No eggplant, instead I was given the grape leaves wrapped with rice. Sadly I'm not a fan of grape leaves to begin with and still am not. As of my plate order I was disappointed on how skimpy the meat portions are. Completely does not look like the picture on menu. I hate to compare but this has to be the smallest kabob I have ever bought. Flavor of chicken was ok, rice pilaf was tasty, hummus ok and beef kabob, I didn't like. Yes, it does take a while for the food to be prepared because its fresh. We waited 30 mins to find the portions are very small. The Kabobs were like 4 pieces of Jerky. Inside salads and Tzatziki were amazing but they are only 1.5 tablespoons full. The Chicken and Muxhroom Picata was like masked Potatoes and chicken bits. The pics show light butter/picata sauce and what was served was beyond overcooked bits of chicken. The rice was greasy.
