New fave spot in Uptown! Absolutely LOVE their food. No matter what you try on the menu, you can be 100% sure that you will leave satisfied. The only reason I don't give this place 5 stars yet is because they have to work on their time management. Often times there are too many people in the kitchen area (small area) without set duties. This seems to slow down getting food prepared and ready. This place is brand new though so I'm sure they will get a quicker system down! Looking forward to coming back! read more

I ordered the lamb - so juicy, delicious, tender and flavorful. My wife had the chicken and said the same. Their rice is excellent - very flavorful and not just plain rice. We had a small family dinner party for pre Christmas for 9 people on Saturday. We picked up or food from JDO. It did not disappoint. When I went to pick up the food Rita and the staff were so accommodating. She made sure we had enough of everything. She was so helpful. The food was amazing. Everything was delicious. The hummus was creamy. The salad was crisp and the meat was juicy and tender. The rice was delicious as well. All nine of us were completely pleased. We will definitely be ordering more from this place in the near future. My only regret was not discovering this place earlier. read more

Whittier needed a place like this! The food is AMAZING! And the workers are so friendly! I go at least once a week. There is a moderate wait time (I'd say a solid 15-20min sometimes) once you have ordered but it's completely worth it. You are able to do phone orders though and they prepare it within the same time range. I never mind waiting because the food is THAT good. The quality and taste of the food justifies the wait time. You can tell they really work to provide the best and freshest dishes. I love the chicken kabob plate. The chicken has never once been dry and it's always full of flavor. I have yet to try the rest of the menu but I ordered that plate my first time going there and I'm hooked. I paired it with the Mediterranean salad which is crunchy, bright, & fresh. The hummus is amazingly delicious (you can also tell it's always freshly made) with the warm pita bread and garlic sauce. I have also ordered full side ordered of the cucumber yogurt as well and it's equally as delicious as the rest of the items. The plates are great portions and always consistent. this spot is great for Vegan's, love that all thier salads and rice and falafels are all vegan except for the cucumber yogurt of course. the falafel plate is actually very filling and they are not dry like most places. Food was good...until we got home. My daughter got sick from it, then my son, then both of my in laws did. They all had chicken kabobs. I called the restaurant because I figured they would want to know but the manager wouldn't even get on the phone with me. The employee said "he said to call the health department". I recently just wrote a kind review about this place because I was excited about their success, as I have been coming here for three years now. But as of recent this place has been terrible. I was super excited to bring my family from out of state to eat here, but it ended up being a frustrating experience. We had gotten all of our food after waiting for 40+ minutes, and after finishing our meal we wanted some turkish coffee around 30 minutes before closing. We went to order and the woman who i assume to be the owner or manager straight up told us "no i don't have time we're closing soon" and then proceeded to serve guests after us full meals. It seems 2 coffees would be easily doable in comparison to full meals, but anyways.... I came here again today with a friend and we went down like 3 blocks to get drinks and assumed we'd just run and pick up the food on the way back. We got to JDO 30 minutes after placing our order, empty restaurant mind you, and the food still was not ready. ALSO THE FALAFEL USED TO BE MY FAVORITE FALAFEL I HAVE EVER HAD AND THEY CHANGED IT. SAME WITH THE PITA. Overall this place used to be a cool gem in whittier, but as of late the prices have been raised, the portions are smaller, customer service is terrible (besides the cashiers) and menu items and experiences (customer service) that made this restaurant stand out have been completely eradicated.
