I used to dine at the Sit Lo Saigon in Midtown, Sacramento. I am glad there is a closer location in Davis, CA. The service was quite fast. Our food came out in less than 10 minutes. I tried the ox tail pho with fresh noodles, a Chinese donut, and the HK lemon tea. I absolutely loved everything that I ordered. The broth was very flavorful. The ox tail was really tender. I loved that there was a pair of scissors to trim the excess fat. This place serves the freshest and softest Chinese donut that I've had. The lemon tea was delicious. Haven't been here since last Fall, so decided to dine here since I had an appt. next door at Verizon. The fam all got ribeye pho, while I got the "premium" pho combo (beef rib, oxtails and tendons). Didn't exactly have the "wow" factor I was expecting. Wife was disappointed they don't offer chicken pho anymore, but she dealt with it and got the ribeye, which the consensus was very tender. Going back to the combo, The rib was small and not very meaty, oxtail was ok (1 big, 2 sm pieces; none fell off the bone, but there was plentiful tendons, which was a bit tough. Broth was beefy and no grease on the surface. Toppings were fresh and clean. Not a lot of folks in here; once temps dip below 70 it'll be packed. *FYI my photo of the combo pho looks plain because I don't do onions nor basil on my pho. read more

The food is okay. Little fruit flies or gnats flying against the windows, maybe 4-5 of them were moving, more of them were dead and attached up there, maybe they have infestation in the kitchen, not a good sign. If I saw those before paying or ordering my food, I would have walked out and left and I would eat somewhere cleaner. When we arrived, we had to order and pre-pay for the food before sitting down, then I saw those little bugs flying around. The cashier told us where to sit and there were pickled bean sprouts, basil, and the picked onions on the table and uncovered while there are other people dining. They are not that fresh. Usually, other pho restaurants would bring those out after you sit down, there are always fresh. The meat and ribs were a little tough and dry. They try to rehydrate them by dunking them into the pho broth which didn't help much. Their pho is okay, nothing extra special. It is all self serve like the drinks. If you want to stay in business for a long time, fix your bug problem and improve your quality control. Decent pho for Sacramento. I've had my fair share of OC and San Jose pho and this place ain't half bad. Broth was beefy and had a good amount of tendon, tripe, and flank. However, the fresh, thicker noodles cost extra here, which I'm surprised by. They should just give that for free like other pho restaurants as an option.. The way you order first at the counter then receive your bowl is unique. They get the bowls out really fast so there isn't much of a wait. Nothing like they used to be. I want to appreciate that they're trying to adapt and change to meet customers wants, but why fix something that ain't broke? They were better off being good at their two "signature" pho offerings. Now that they have many options - "classic" pho and their fancier options like ox tail, the broth isn't good. Soooo oily and severely lacking in flavor. It honestly gave me the runs like 5 min after finishing my bowl. Onions and bean sprouts are served warm, which is weird and I've never had them served that way before. I'm wondering if it's a way to try and hide their lack of freshness?? Idk but onions are too sour/vinegary for me now..I preferred when they were a "fresh" garnish. Overall, very unhappy with the changes they've made and I no longer care to go back. The interior design is cute and has touches of Vietnamese culture, which I did admire. I ordered #1, which was the Hanoi pho. That included ribeye and a Chinese donut with a savory beef broth, which is a nice change from the usual southern style pho (although both are good). I also chose fresh noodles since that was the recommended default, while the other option was the usual thin noodles. The noodles and broth were good, but they were nothing outstanding. The beef was a bit tough to chew, so I wasn't too impressed. I heard good things about the bone marrow and saw how huge it looked though, so maybe I'll have to come back to give that a try. I've been meaning to try sit lo saigon ever since a few of my friends recommended it. It's located in the Laguna plaza next to DSW and many other shops/restaurants. The process is different but reliable, you order at the cashier first, they direct you to a numbered table, and you get your own water/tea. They then quickly come out with the side ingredients before your main dishes are out. After we sat down, our bowls came out roughly after 5 minutes. The service is very self-sufficient and if you want to order more things, you go back to the counter in the front. Regarding the pho, it was a lot more expensive than what I'm used to. However, we are in the prime spot of Elk Grove, so I understand that rent for the building may cost a lot higher than other areas. It was around $64 for three bowls plus 20% tip. The pho was a very big portion and I appreciate the plentiful pieces of meat that it came with. I also liked how they give a side of vinegar sliced onions without having to ask for them! There are a large selection of sides/sauces provided at each table. The pho was decent, the broth wasn't as flavorful as I wish it was. It tasted a bit too clean for my liking LOL but I still love to support my community nonetheless. I would suggest coming here if you're in the area and want a big bowl of pho! We have been wanting to try this pho place ever since it opened. It was perfect weather this week with the showers & the cooler weather! What prompted us even more so was the multitude of coupons sent out via Laguna Crossroads sent out to all EG residents who live nearby. We couldn't pass up 5 dollars off of any order of 25 dollars or more. Yup that did it! We came during the week especially when they first opened in the morning. Best time to come as there is really no wait! Their restaurant is situated that you have to order as you enter at the counter. They then seat you to your specific table after you order. We ordered both regular size of Hanoi Pho & Saigon Pho plus the shortrib meat side. It was very reasonable considering the amount of food they give you. They brought us veggies on a tray like bean sprouts, pickled onions, jalapeño, purple basil while we waited a short time for our pho to be prepared. It was actually very quick. We were extremely pleased with the broth which was full on flavor & no cilantro! Yay wifey was thrilled as she cannot stand the taste of cilantro! At the counter when we initially ordered the waitress offered bigger noodles but we went with the traditional skinnier noodles. We were happy we did. We will definitely be back!!! Wifey couldn't finish her pho & had to take it to go. We received several containers to put the noodles in one, broth in another & a separate baggie to place the large shortrib bones into that bag with the container. By the way they did an excellent job with the interior design of the restaurant. Very modern, stylish with an awesome Vietnamese theme! I've come here a couple times. Their meat is good and pho pretty unique, but I always have some questionable experiences there. I was eating for a while until I got a huge mouthful of plastic (bag/wrap?) hidden at the bottom of my pho last time. I try not to think too much, but lots of plastic in a really hot broth... they offered me either another bowl or only a refund, but that's honestly the least they can do. Other times, the outside patio seems to not be cared for at all. The tables seem to never be wiped, as most times they're filled with black dust (road/tire debris). Expecting a great experience isn't exactly you should ever expect from your classic pho restaurants, but the health concerns I get from eating here just aren't worth coming back when there are other options. read more
