I ordered the pepper beef and pork belly which are their more popular options. The portion was a good amount for one to two people. You have to follow the steps on the wall to get the best experience for this dish. Try to spread the raw meat and rice evenly on the hot plate then wait a good 5 mins. After that, the rice should be crispy golden brown at the bottom and meat is medium cooked. Then you can add the sauce of your choice. The meat and rice didn't have much favor even with the butter and pepper. So you do have to add the sauce if it's too bland. Overall, the meat tasted fresh without much frozen favors. Great value teppanyaki with very efficient service, clean décor, and well ventilated space. Each table seems quite well loaded with supplies, and inside dining spots all have a digital touchscreen for ordering. The dishes as served are a good base to start from, but will require some tinkering with their ample condiments to get them to the right flavor profile for yourself. Parking is relatively easy being in a plaza and getting seating had no wait on a Saturday for lunch. The food does get cooked in front of you so you will need to tend to it for optimal crispiness (flipping the food isn't hard, but I'd highly recommend pressing your rice down a bit after the meat is cooked to get optimal golden crispy rice). *Make sure to add seasonings* or it will taste bland. Our server emphasized this, so I figured it's worth a mention. They have loads of stuff at the table: sanitizer and clorox wipes in addition to pepper, pink sea salt, shichimi and their garlic shoyu and teriyaki sauces, so they have things ready. We opted to grab the pepper rices: I had the pork belly and my brother had the curry beef cheese. Both came out very well (though I will note my plate was notably hotter than his). The curry beef cheese plate is *very rich* and delicious (the curry seasoning complements instead of being overpowering), so if you're looking for something on the heavier end this is a very good choice; however it doesn't need too much except for the garlic shoyu. I love the food at Sizzling Lunch and I come here often because I live nearby. The employees are very friendly and the food is really good. They recently changed their menu to add more meal and appetizer options. They also have digital displays at each table that you use to place your orders. My go-to order is the curry beef udon! My only concern is that sometime the food takes a while to be served (around 20-25 minutes), but I don't really mind the wait. Will definitely be back! read more

Everything comes in a sizzling plate and they have you cook everything yourself. Nothing is seasoned either so you have all the control to season your own food. Be careful of over seasoning! The wings themselves were very crispy and juicy. The udon noodles and pork belly were both savory from the sauces. From the gf, the beef was very tender and the vegetables that replaces the carbs were much needed from the heavy meats. I'm such a HUGE fan of their Japanese fusion teppanyaki dishes, which are cooked in front of you on a personal hot cast iron plate. Their menu features a yummy selection of pepper rice, udon, and pasta plates, with your choice of an incredibly fresh meat selection that includes Prime Grade Beef, Sashimi grade Atlantic Salmon, Wagyu Hamburg Steak, and Black Angus Ribeye. Definitely make sure to add on a fried egg and their signature garlic butter, and drizzle their garlic shoyu sauce to your heart's content! Personally, I find their dishes a bit under seasoned, which is surprising considering that I expected their curry dishes to be overly savory. They do offer complementary shoyu and teriyaki sauces, but I wish they would fine tune the seasoning to a basic level, especially for their non-curry and non-red meat options. The perfect spot to go to when you can't decide what to eat. I definitely love taking friends and family here when they are visiting the South Bay area. Portions are pretty good. They claim to give 6 ounces of protein now! The beef is always tender and I personally think it tastes the best on the sizzling plate, compared to the pork and chicken. The curry options really set them apart from other places like Pepperlunch or Tao's Fresh. THEY RAISED THEIR PRICES! All of their sizzling plates are now $15+, which is a fairly significant price jump. Also keep in mind, if you sit outside (which is common for bigger parties), then you must pay BEFORE you get your food. This probably just helps the staff with any sort of dine and dash situations. We were seated and ordered on the kiosk that is on our table. I really like that because I am the type who does not like to bother the server. We ordered the beef pepper rice, curry beef udon and chicken wings. The sizzling plates came out first and fast. I recommend mixing the plate asap so that the food doesn't get burnt. Both plates were so good!!! 10/10!!! We were already full by the chicken wings came out but those were good too. Came here in the afternoon for dinner and we were seated right away, as soon as we sat down, a line started forming in front of the shop. We were a table of 4, but they only had tables of two open so the waitress pushed together two tables. Since they have a contactless ordering system in the form of an iPad strapped to the table, our seating arrangement was kind of awkward as we only were able to sit on 3 sides of the "long table". I ordered the curry beef udon. When it came out, I was really disappointed in how much curry powder was added. There was nothing at all and it did nothing to add to the flavor. It ended up being just a normal beef udon plate that had a yellow tinge. As they don't season the udon back in the kitchen, I ended up just adding a bunch of garlic shoyu which made the dish REALLY tasty. After a minute or so, the plate stopped "sizzling" and just became a normal plate. I should have kept the meat off the plate because by the time I got to it, it was over cooked and kinda dry. Overall, pretty tasty if you add a bunch of the sauces, but wished that they had bigger tables and added more curry powder. read more

The meat cooks very fast so I piled it on top of the rice once it was medium well hoping it wouldn't cook so much. My plate was definitely what I wanted. We've been here a few times since it's within walking distance - the concept is the same as Pepper Lunch in that your meal is served on a hot sizzling plate (hence the lunch) and finishes cooking in it. The warmth of the food and the fun in mixing it together makes it a delicious experience. LOGISTICS I've been coming here pre-COVID, and the Yelp Waitlist is a great option for timing your visits since it can get busy. I wish more restaurants utilized that option. Parking lot was a bit of a pain pre-COVID because of the nearby gym, but since COVID it's been more manageable. We usually walk across the street to get here since we live nearby, but something to keep in mind about parking. Service is quick and friendly on taking your orders - plus the staff we're taking all the COVID precautions for indoor dining (spacing folks out, wearing masks, sanitizing, etc.). Although it's a sit down place... the food is quite quick in coming out after you place your order. Just be sure to take out the paper ring and start mixing up your food as soon as it arrives. You want to make sure the protein gets a chance to cook through as the plate is hot... and spread that butter around so everything gets extra flavor! They also have sauces and seasonings on the side - I like using the garlic shoyu on pretty much everything. FOOD Since we've been here a few times now, we've tried the following: Garlic Beef Pepper Rice: The classic with thin stripes of beef, corn, and green onion! A good option if you're a newbie to the concept since you get the experience of mixing up your beef in the rice and tossing the garlic shoyu. The garlic and beef flavor up the rice as it cooks. My only gripe is I always feel like there could be more beef to rice... but you do have the option of adding extra 3oz meat. Kurabuta Pork Belly Pepper Rice: I tend to like pork belly more since it's got a distinct savory flavor that goes great on hot rice. If you're a fan of pork belly, this is a great option. It really hits the spot and is one of my favorite protein options here. It's not greasy either. Salmon Pepper Rice: If you want a lighter meal, I highly recommend the salmon version. It's light but still very flavorful, especially when broken up into salmon flakes and mixed with the rice. The fact the salmon is served pipping hot makes it tastier than some salmon I've gotten at even fancy restaurants. Like the others, I also recommend tossing garlic shoyu sauce on top. Lately this has been our go to since it's a healthier option without sacrificing taste and satisfaction. Salmon Filet Deluxe: For something a little heartier, you can order the salmon filet deluxe that will get you a bigger piece of salmon, extra veggies to cook and miso soup. Make sure to spread the butter on the salmon fillet for extra flavor! The rice will be served on the side in a bowl, but I still like tossing half of it onto the hot plate to mix it with my broken up salmon, garlic shoyu, and butter. Angus Ribeye Steak: Similar to the deluxe salmon, you get rice on the side and extra veggies with the steak. However I focus on getting the steak cooked in the butter. I do still mix in half my rice onto the plate to mix with veggies, excess butter, and shoyu sauce though. The steak itself is delicious and juicy for a fairly priced steak meal - I'd pick this steak over Sizzler's any day, it's way more satisfying. It's quite tender and flavorful (I imagine from still being warm/sizzling) and the melted butter works nicely. VALUE Honestly I think for the flavor and portion, it's totally worth the price. I really like getting the salmon and steak here... it's cheap and plate tastes better than some fancier places I've been to. For example, Rok Bistro in Sunnyvale is a more "upscale" concept where you finish cooking your steak or seafood on a hot "rock plate"... yet a lot of times the protein ends up more bland tasting. Not very satisfying for the price either. I still don't agree with paying the $1 just to crack an egg on top... but every place does that, and you can check in on Yelp for the free add on. OVERALL Solid place all around - I prefer this over Pepper Lunch in Milpitas since I feel like Sizzling Lunch has more options to provide. When we arrived here on a weekend around noon, we were happy to see that there were a few empty tables, so we were seated immediately and ordered quickly on the screen since we already knew what we wanted. I usually come here whenever I'm in the area and to avoid the rush (since it does get busy), I tend to go like right at lunch time or right before dinner. It's a nice little spot in the corner of a fairly busy plaza. They give you ipads to order yourself and then they bring the food out to you fairly quick. Today I got the pork belly rice with cheese added and it was yummy! Just make sure to thoroughly cook your meat before enjoying and be careful too since everything is on a hot plate. I also got a karaage for an appetizer, but when I poked at a piece with my fork, 2 pieces came up because a long strand hair was wrapped around it. I told the workers immediately and they replaced it and took off the charge. I appreciated that very much, but it affected my appetite a little. The hostess had a hard on for social distance. We were standing in the doorway and she kept telling us to stand behind the door threshold. Clearly we are six feet away but her internal tape measure was off. Her robotic attitude really put a damper on our lunch. We could have went somewhere else but we chose here. We both ordered the same. We both used our free Yelp check in add on item. Btw this was met with attitude. It really was not a welcoming experience. My plate came out first, garlic beef with side of Kim chee. Her plate came out 8-10 min later, garlic beef with side of onions. Side note, gyoza came out after the rice plates. So we ate staggered because her plate was obv hot while mine cooled down. If you needed anything like refills or box to go or your check, you have to flag down your waiter.
