Mediocre at best. Yes a busy weekend, but many open tables and still a 45 minutes wait. Over an hour wait on food, for it to be terrible. I'm leaving hungry...brisket taste like meatloaf, chicken could shatter a window, and the $4 "premium side" mac and cheese taste like easy Mac. Don't let the three stars fool you the service is great! The food is meh. I ordered some sort of combo where I was able to get two entrées and two sides for around 15 dollars. The brisket was good but the pulled pork was bland. I enjoyed the sauces they offered at the table and the roasted corn was great. I love to use my god-given forks to enjoy my food, so when I go to Smokey Bones, I like to enjoy their wings, burgers, or street tacos. They are always delicious and they have a large selection of beer and cocktails that go great with any meal. Kristina has always taken care of me when I dine in and if I choose to go during busy hours, she always makes sure I am taken care of. She brings a fun personality to the table and I always look for her when I have a craving. She can handle busy nights and still accommodate each guest's needs. read more

As a member of their rewards program I had an email telling me of their thanksgiving day hours and offering me $10 off. Went tonight-the night before thanksgiving-and found out the offer expired on the 20th....the manager couldn't come out to speak with us because she had been there all day and was still there helping in the kitchen because they didn't have enough staff. I think Smokey Bones has a systemic issue with low/no staff. read more

This place is one of three I come to everytime I make a trip down to BG. Solid menu and great service. I normally get a "build your own" burger or their brisket. All delicious. I highly recommended if you haven't tried it before. read more

The first time was close to their re-opening and the service was good and the ribs good. Second time, the service was awful. A friend ordered something and they were out of that. My wife swore the place off because of the service. The ribs were good. I had a chance to go by myself since my wife was on a business trip. Got there and two men were waiting. The waitress said"i'll be will you in a second"and sat the men. She then sat me. I sat for a while...and the waitress passed by and said "I'll be with you in a minute." That was it. I walked out. I will now never go back. The place was more than half empty and with this kind of service I can understand why. Service in Bowling Green is some times bad even at nice places that shouldn't have issues with service. Smokey Bones is burning up inside with poor management this time. This was my first time to visit the rebuilt restaurant. I ordered the street tacos: brisket, pulled pork, and chicken. Pulled pork is definitely the best. There was a lot of sauce on the tacos so they were drippy and messy and I only had one napkin. The service was quick and very good. read more

Went for lunch and was pleasantly surprised. The burger I had was huge and delicious. Side dishes are generally not very good at barbecue places, however the baked beans and apples were especially delicious. Would recommend! read more

I took my wife to eat here for her birthday. We were seated and there was hardly anyone there, except for the bar. We waited for over 5 minutes and no one ever waited on us. At least 3 servers passed us but no one stopped. We got up and left and again no one said a word. I wouldn't waste my time there. Service was very slow, understaffed and slightly rude but how can you blame them having to literally run to keep up with everything. Had to ask when I sat down to get sauce cleaned off the table. I think that this is a good place and could really be a great restaurant. I came here on Father's Day and the place was packed there was probably a 35 to 45 minute wait which was not a problem at all. The problem was everything took forever they don't seem like they really have a system here I don't know if it was just because it was Father's Day or if this is how they operate all the time. The menu had a lot of different food options from chicken to burgers to salads. read more

Got home after work decided to order dinner from Smokey Bones thru Grubhub. When food arrived it was still hot. My wife's chicken wings were burned and extremely tough, my son ordered chicken straps and fries but didn't get his fries, I ordered the pulled pork, the pork tasted like it was cooked in a crock pot and did not have any smoke flavor. We also ordered the sack of hot donuts and the bag they were in was dripping with grease and inedible. Called the restaurant, the manager said it was because we had to wait for the food to be delivered (the chicken wings were burnt during delivery, the fries flew out of the carton, the donuts drank a quart of grease, and the pulled pork became tasteless while it was being delivered) yes that is what the moron of a manager was implying. We will never eat from there again and will tell all our friends and family about this experience, and also suggest not eating there. I will suggest to everyone I know and work with not to eat there. You would expect better food and service for a $100.00 meal read more

Never even got seated! Walked in and the host asked if we would like a round top in the bar area. Told him no I would not sit my 8yr old in the bar area. (This seems to be an ongoing issue here in the south...bar areas are not appropriate for kids. We cant be the only family with class and morals living around here) people were sitting on the right side in booths away from the bar. My husband asked if we could sit there and the host made this whole production of looking at his seating chart, and then proceeded to try and convince my husband they dont really have a bar and so he will just seat us at the roundtop. We left and went to Chuys. Great food awsome workers that are customer oriented AND they saw we had a young kid with us so they sat us in the restraunt side never making the bar seating an option. read more

But said they had the smoked chicken quarter??? Now why wouldn't they have taken a fork and pulled the chicken out of the smoked quarter and used it on the sandwich??? I see why this location only received 2 stars overall. If I could give zero stars I would! Place was empty and we were put on a 15 min wait? (Only had a party of 5 - Sunday night at 7:30 pm). After we sat down we waited another 10 min before a server came by to take our order...meanwhile the managers were in the back clapping and having a great time with their employees. Food was ok. Went here while on a business trip. The service was great. I was seated immediately and my waitress made sure that I had everything that I needed. They had a special that if you checked in with foursquare you received a free Kettle Chips appetizer (which was actually good). I ordered the pulled pork plate with bbq baked beans and slaw. The pork and beans were good but the slaw didn't have much taste. They have happy hour at this location all day, every day, so they had some good drink specials. I've been eating on the main Scottsville Rd strip of restaurants in BGKY for over ten years and it's really sad to see what's happened to this place. Although the first building wasn't as pretty to look at before it burned down, the GM John Resch and his veteran crew of servers made everything feel personable and they had a very loyal clique of regulars in addition to anyone who wanted to give them a try. We went there for years and years until the place burned down. They rebuilt it with gimmicks and flair but don't let the flames outside fool you. The new leadership of this place is a joke. The new GM doesn't even work there on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday nights, and I've never seen him in a good mood. I've heard him verbally abuse his servers and back of house and you can tell that he drains the whole spirit of the place when he's at the wide open expo counter pretending to be a leader when he's actually just talking down to his staff or chiding them for every little mistake or occurrence that goes wrong. I've seen multiple teams of junior managers cycle through the place because they eventually get sick and tired of carrying his dead weight until 2am night after night. You'll never see a server or bartender stay there for longer than a few months unless they're in the little day shift clique because the staff who do the real challenging work are there from 5pm until 3 or 4 in the morning five or more nights a week, only to be reprimanded for something that doesn't look perfect for the completely dead lunch shift the next day when a corporate assistant leader is there to pick up slack or try to align things back into a professional and positive environment. When you see one or two tables in the place from eleven in the morning to three in the afternoon, that's a good indicator of the overall health of the business and it reflects through management from the top down. I was a regular for four years and usually came to see Ivy, Dicky, Maria, Kent, or Drew, but none of those five year tenured employees are there anymore because their loyalty went out the window with the new place. Mark, Tim, Amber, Lexie, George, Jennifer ,,,, the list of amazing front of housers who just couldn't take it anymore is so long that it saddens me. We go to Smokey Pig now if we want barbecue in Bowling Green because waiting on a frowning and burned out server or bartender who is powerless to give the same standard of service they used to have is a disheartening and cringy experience. It's too painful of a reminder that bad leaders can run an energetic and profitable enterprise into the ground in less than a year when the ship captain is just there to earn a guaranteed salary buck and leave as soon as possible, with a complete mess for their underlings to inherit and deal with time and time again. This has happened to O'Charley's, Outback, and Buffalo Wild Wings in a lesser capacity but for being such an eye catcher from the road, this place is a gigantic letdown now. Appetizers are on the expensive side. Burgers are on the dry side. The bottles of sauce on the table is wonderful idea. However, be nice if they had stuff in them at the table.
