We had their food at an engagement party event at Mt Lowe Brewing. I ordered the Ropa Veija melt. My man ordered the Cubano sandwich. They forgot about our orders. When we got it we had a sandwich and a quesadilla. But I liked the quesadilla better. They both came with a potato ball & fries. Im not sure if I would pay $19 each.

Great food and friendly service from the owner. She is very nice and welcoming, she is passionate about her food anf culture. Got the Ropa Vieja combo with Empanadas. It was all delicious, definitely some of the best empanadas that I've ever had. I highly recommend grabbing a bite if you're in the area!

I normally don't go out of my way for Cuban food. It's not on my list of usual stops when it comes to new food joints and I think that's because I just never grew up around or palled around with folks who asked to get Cuban a lot either. However, sometimes you come across an amazing experience of trying out a new to you Cuban eatery or food truck that makes you say maybe I should be eating more Cuban food The Cuban Sandwich was an effing delight--chockful or meats, cheeses, and awesome bread to encapsulate them all. I always think of the film Chef when I try out a decent Cubano and this made me think of a sandwich that's worth lining up an hour or more for. So too were the potato balls worth waiting for as I can honestly say that I liked these ones better than Porto's. And everyone manning the location I went to were just a delight. They were both super effusive, helpful, and eager to brag about how much love they bring to everything they make. They were a definite highlight of my night eating here. The folks there were even nice enough to let me know or their upcoming brewery schedule and I've already pencilled myself in to see them again come April. This place effing rocks.

The owners of this little pop up were so nice! Saw them at lake fest in Big Bear. After walking past the first time I decided I had to have that for dinner. The stand smelled so good and everything looked and sounded great. They gave us a half Cuban and half quesadilla each which did not disappoint. I don't even like crinkle fries but theirs were excellent! The potato ball was unique and delicious. The green salsa/sauce they served with it all was too good! It made a wonderful birthday meal while we watched some stand up comedy. Thank you smokin Cubana!

They were at Rowdy's Brewery & we were drawn to them by the delicious aromas! David & Tanya were friendly & promised us a delicious meal! They delivered! Tasty food & yes, the potato balls were better than Porto's! Need to find their next stop!

Came across this amazing Cuban style food at Escape Brewery, honestly one of the best tasting foods I've had all week, and everything here is made from scratch! Not many people are doing that nowadays and the customer service is amazing, I highly recommend you stop by and give their food a try you won't regret it !

This was a fabulous discovery at Mt. Lowe Brewery - they have the perfect food to pair with our standard stouts! We ordered the quesadillas, potato balls and fries. The avocado sauce paired with it had a wonderful kick to it and tasted fresh and delicious. The service was fast and friendly. Would love to have them cater an upcoming event and spread the love - it is a great experience for anyone who loves Cuban food!

The owners were so sweet, and they are serving up some delicious Cuban food! We happened upon their stand today while passing through Old Town Pasadena while they were set up on Saturdays at Stone Brewing. My fiance and I weren't super hungry, so we ordered one cuban sandwich to share and it was the perfect amount of food. They give you a beeper if you eat there and the food came out pretty quickly (I would say less than 10 minutes). Our sandwich came with seasoned fries and a papa relleno (fried breaded potato ball with meat inside like the ones they sell at Porto's but smaller and crispier). The Cuban sandwich was deliciously moist (very tender juicy pork) but lightly crispy on the outside and had the perfect amount of seasoning and flavor. The seasoned fries were crispy, and it came with a small dish of green sauce (I'm guessing it's a mojo verde that tasted very fresh and possibly had cilantro in it). I would definitely get food from Smokin Cubana Cuisine again, so please give them a try (from their Instagram, they do catering and are doing pop-ups at various breweries Tues-Sat--so check their Instagram)!

The market is small and cramped and packed to the gills with Latin American and Spanish goods. They have good looking produce, a nice big butchery, multiple freezers and refrigerators filled with specialty items that will make your brain work on overtime. The way the deli works for buying their prepared food is different from some. You must first place your order at the back counter. You will receive an itemized ticket which you must take up front to the cashier. Then, you return to the back to show your proof of purchase receipt and then you get your food, bagged and ready. The total wait for us was about 10 - 15 minutes, not bad. I get it, why they have to do it this way, but it is time consuming and inconvenient at best. We did get some empanadas. They are fried, not baked, so have an extra good crunch with every bite. There are two ground beef fillings, i.e. two different recipes. Three were the wonderful filling that has green olives (my favorite), and one that was described as spicy beef (that really was not all that spicy). Both were delicious, and their dough was flaky. This could easily become one of my favorite destinations for a reliable empanada. Besides the deli empanadas, there was a nice selection of empanada disc's (round pastry wrappers) in the freezer section if you are inclined to make and stuff them yourself, and frozen empanadas made by Goya in yet another freezer. I also convinced myself I needed to buy two tamales. One Guatemalan, the other Peruvian. These are sold frozen and are ordered at the deli counter. Haven't tried them yet, but I am excited because they are not so easy to find. Other products that caught my eye included a fascinating collection of sausages, chorizo, morcilla (blood sausage), Spanish linguiça, Spanish chorizo, smoked meats (Corte's brand), smoked herring, quail eggs, and other imported delicacies. Perhaps I will not need to drive all the way to La Española in Harbor City anymore for Spanish imports? They sell a very comprehensive list of Goya brand products and prepared foods. I grabbed a bag of ready to eat sweet plantains from the freezer as well. All so tempting. By the time I had perused the whole store and was headed to the cashier, my guard was completely down. There it was... freshly baked goods critically placed next to the cashier so you can't miss them. Soft crust baguettes and rolls in baskets, and small, sweet pastries and cookies in their bakery case. There were several pastries that looked very special, some featuring custard or quince filling. We, of course, had to buy some. I have already tested the one filled with the quince and topped with finely grated coconut. It was outstanding, not very sweet. The dough was lightly brushed with egg yolk for a rich, beautiful finish. These were super fresh and very tender. The baked goods are delivered fresh from an Argentinian bakery in Burbank. This is a great find! Not your usual small neighborhood grocery. I am very excited to return.

There are a few chairs for people to sit on while they wait for their order, but no tables, no bathrooms. My wait time was 15-20 minutes. You can call in advance and pick-up as well to save time. Options: You can request for fried or baked empanadas. Sizes are quite small. Smaller than your hand. Made to order, so empanadas are served piping hot. CRIOLLA It's been awhile since I've last had empanadas, so decided to start with this. Very good starting point. The criolla was jam packed with ground beef, onions, eggs, olives and raisins. Loved the olives and raisins in it brought a briny and sweet flavor. It was very satisfying to eat, especially with the chimichurri. For reference, the spicy beef was similar in flavor profile minus the spicy kick. SPICY BEEF A must-try. This was super good! I would have ordered more if I knew what to order. This was my favorite! It tasted like a taco filling with all the taco seasonings. There was ground beef, onions, eggs, olives and jalapeños in it for the spicy kick. It wasn't too spicy either. SPICY CARNITAS Very porky flavors. Porky-licious! Definitely has that spicy kick from the jalapeños. The meat was slightly dry. It was okay, but I wouldn't order this again. CORN & CHEESE Could not see much other vegetables in it other than corn. Don't know what cheese was used, but it did taste a bit like Velveeta cheese. There was not stuffed and there was not a lot of cheese and not a lot of corn. It was very bland. I could still taste the empanada dough. It almost tasted undercooked. The empanada dough itself is bland. This was terrible and not good at all! APPLE I ordered it for fried, but it came out baked. Overall it wasn't bad, it tasted like apple pie. Yet the dough itself is thicker, so it takes away from the filling. The filling could use some more cinnamon and more apple juice filling to bring a more robust apple filling flavor. The flavor overall was good, but slightly lacking. CHIMICHURRI SAUCE Herbacious and tangy. You gotta scoop up the herbs and eat it on top of the empanada. You do need to purchase for 50 cents extra. But I think it's worth getting. CASH OR CREDIT CARD ACCEPTED! SURCHARGE ADDED TO CREDIT CARD USERS. CUSTOMER SERVICE Good customer service. The person taking my order was patient and friendly. The one complaint is that the person taking orders do go back and forth to the kitchen to check up on customer orders. PARKING Large parking lot shared with other businesses. But large enough to find available parking spots anywhere.

But it was more than the food; it was the service that made it so memorable. Our family had just arrived in Claremont for the first time; didn't know the area and were starving. Saw Inka Trails on Yelp and thought it looked good but it was about to close in 30 mins so we called to check if we could still make it. The lady who answered the phone was warm and welcoming, telling us to come on by. What followed was some of the most delicious food I've had, on par with Michelin-starred restaurants I have had the pleasured to dine at in Bangkok, San Sebastian, Paris...It was home cooking with the best ingredients - you can taste the freshness of the fish and vegetables and the fragrance of the herbs. Highly recommend the fish rice soup, the fried fish and fish stew in tomato broth. It was serious one of the best meals we have had. So the food was 5 stars, but what made me write this review was the owner Patty. She was warm and gracious. Asked us what brought us to Claremont and when we told her we were there to tour colleges, she was kind to share her insights on the school, experiences with the students, told us about safety and transits in the area. Remember this was all after the restaurant was already scheduled to be closed for the evening. We were never rushed and Patty was sincere and kind. As a frequent traveler and woman in business, I appreciate that. First off, the cafe is bright, colorful, and warm and was running a 90's - 2000's spotify mix that was right up my wife's alley. Very relaxed atmosphere and we felt welcome immediately. We absolutely wanted to note that everyone working that day were very helpful and nice. A special shout out to our waitress Trisha (sp?) who helped us with some honest recommendations and made sure we were taken care of. On to the food! 1. Jerk Potatoes - These were fantastic. Strong, well seasoned, and very filling. This was the first thing on the table, and was honestly enough food for both my wife and I. This is what we want to eat in the morning after a night out, while watching a chinese drama on Netflix, or after a nice hike. Great dish, great first impression. 2. Seamoss Shake - Tricia helped me convince myself that this was healthy because seamoss is a health food! Good enough for me! I actually love this, my wife did too. I mean, it's a milkshake so it's sweet, but not overwhelmingly so and had a really nice earthy tint to it. Would order again. For health reasons. 3. Fried Chicken Wings & Waffles - No complaints about the waffles, actually quite good overall. The chicken was also very well done, moist, tender, well fried. The highlight of this dish though, was the jerk spicy dipping sauce that came with the dish. For all those chinese people out there, it's like the sweet and sour sauce used in peking ribs, but with some additional spices that really took it to another level. 4. French Toast, Eggs & Bacon - My older son tends to order this whenever it's available. Not much to say, it was tasty and he left no crumbs. We also ordered curried goat and brown stew chicken, but we actually took those orders home since we were full from the first few dishes. Great spot, great people, would recommend! As a side note, I fully support the Seamoss Shake health food movement. Thanks y'all!
