KBBQ in Pasadena that is worth going to if you don't want to go to Ktown. Just as most mention, quality of meat is totally there but the price is on the high side which I agree. The other thing to point out is portion size. Brisket slices was quite little for $31 (maybe 13 slices). Pork jowl was very yummy as usual but there was like 10 pieces for $37. Great selection of sides and the sauces was just like what I'm use to from my go to Kbbq in Ktown, without the long drive. The service was phenomenal, very tentative. They cook for you just like all the other KBBQ. We also had garlic wings, nice crisp but the sauce was way too sweet. Don't mind the price for quality meat but the portion size should be little more generous. People leaving still hungry after a $150, most won't come. read more

Way over priced and inconsistent service. Went on a Saturday night. Service was good at the very beginning and then the restaurant got busy and then we couldn't get anyone to come by. They only cooked one meat at a time, so the timing of our meal was off by a lot. And by the time the rice came, the meat was gone. We got brisket, bulgogi, kimchi fried rice, kalbi tacos, and two glasses of champage. $84.90 before tip. Pricey. Especially if you're used to the AYCE places. The kimchi fried rice is better a couple of blocks away at Chibiscus. The banchan lacked flavor - even the kimchi! The kalbi tacos had the best flavor, but you'd have to order several at $9 to get half full. Get your Korean food fix elsewhere and save the money. read more

This place is disappointing. If you like kang ho dong, this place doesn't compare. Even Mun steakhouse, which is comparable in price, is better. Their grill was apparently weak or maybe this was just the norm for them, but they grill your meat with a blow torch while dousing the meat with oil. Service was great. They really do a good job of attending to all customers and flipping meat, changing grills, and being available. Food was solid. The meat quality was definitely up to standard. A little on the pricier side when it comes to KBBQ but I cannot deny, it is pretty tasty. A small feedback - One of the staff was vigorously trying to flip the meat for 5 minutes and we were all forced to watch this disaster and by the end of it the meat was shredded to pieces. It was like a Benihana nightmare. All you had to do was give it some time and leave the meat to cook for a couple more minutes. It would've released itself and you could have flipped it with ease! I know the meat flip was just a snapshot of my experience but it's the only thing that comes to mind when writing this review due to it being a complete failure. 2 girlfriends and I got the Dudes Platter, Option B, which was a total of $98. This is advertised for 4 people, but we finished it clean. ;) The presentation of the meat was beautiful. Actually the entire restaurant is aesthetically pleasing, minimalistic, and clean w high ceilings. Very cute date spot that makes kbbq a more pleasant (and not as smelly) experience. The tables are pretty large so if you're sitting across from someone, it's quite a distance and hard to hear once more people fill the restaurant. Overall impressions: - Reservation: very easy to do online, so highly recommend. - Dude's Platter: not a lot of food for the price. If you're looking for an affordable AYCE kbbq, this isn't the place for you bc it is a la carte or preset meat/pork combos. - Beer: the 32 ounce pitcher actually isn't that big, so go for the 64 ounce pitcher of you have more than 2 people. :) read more

A decent kbbq place in Pasadena but I'd say there are better places to get your kbbq fix. This place is a bit pricey but that comes along with the quality of meat you get so I know what I was getting myself into. I don't mind paying for more better quality meat and a good experience. My friends and I ordered the Dudes Platter (for 4 people) which comes with beef belly, rib eye, pork jowl, pork belly, and we chose the seasoned the short ribs. We also ordered the bibimbap and kimchi fried rice. The waiter cooks the meat for your which I love since I won't smell like bbq at the end of the day. All non AYCE places, the waiter usually cooks for you. Out of all the meats, the best was pork jowl but that's my favorite cut anyways. All the meats were marinated well and I enjoyed all of them. I will say I was disappointed with the ribeye because it ended up becoming really chewy. Also, we asked for medium rare and it was cooked all the way through so it may be why it was so chewy. Another thing why I was disappointed was the banchan (side dishes) selection. I LOVE banchan and there wasn't a lot - about 5 dishes and salad. I'm used to having at least 10 and they were skimping on the salad. The salad was in a large bowl but only 1/3 of it was filled. We had it refilled like 3 times. The bibimbap and kimchi fried rice was good though. And good thing we ordered these because the meat didn't really fill me up like other places I've been to. I don't think I was completely full at the end of the meal either. Service: great service, everyone was very tentative, someone was always passing by Food: we ordered kimchi fried rice, bulgogi, two sides of rice, and 32 oz of saparro. HANDS DOWN! the best Korean meal I have ever experienced. From the moment we walked thru the door until saying our huge thank you's and goodbyes. We ordered the rib-eye, shrimp, and kimchee fried rice. A gorgeous salad appeared and then our waiter began cooking the rib eye. She was adorable, personable, and so gracious. The meat was melt in your mouth perfection, the shrimp was like nothing I have ever tasted, the kimchee fried rice and all the delicious sides were the topping to a wonderful meal. Whenever we're craving Korean BBQ, there's nowhere else we'd like to go to but Soh Grill House. This restaurant is by far the cleanest amongst the KBBQ places we've been to in LA. The quality of meat is consistently good, the banchans are really delicious, the barley tea is simply a treat. We've been coming here so regularly that everyone almost always knows what we want to order even before we mention it. Our favorites are the kalbitang, pork jowl, top blade, Soh prime cut, and the beef belly. Granted it is not an AYCE restaurant, I've never left the restaurant not satisfied, I always feel full to my satisfaction! The service is consistently good, we never had to lift a finger cooking our meats unless we so wanted to! I can confidently say this is our "home" KBBQ place. Tip for the parking: Park inside the parking garage shared with Marriott and walk from there - helps you clock in some steps for the day and is free for 90 minutes until 9:00ish! read more

Ambience 5/5 Clean, white tables. Simple modern look with large tables that accommodate a nice party. The tables are a tiny bit large though so I found myself trying to lean over pretty far to be heard without raising my voice too much. Service 5/5 Impeccable service. They are so kind and treat you like you are BFFs. Talk about great people skills. Makes me wonder what type of intense interview they go through to find these socially competent people ahhhahah!! Soh Grill is simply SOH GOOD. We stumbled upon this restaurant while wandering around Old Town Pasadena as this somehow did not come up for us on Yelp when searching for outdoor seating restaurants (which are fewer and fewer unfortunately) and I have to thank the Food Gods for leading us to this place because it is simply a wonderful experience. We only got brisket but have to say that it tasted so fresh and clean. The banchan made us say mmm after every bite. The yogurt soju "cocktail" came in a seemingly endless tea kettle and was refreshing on a hot summer evening. The service was out of this world, I was never having to flag anyone down and when they came to check on us and saw us in deep conversation, they didn't interrupt us. It's a whole level of excellence I was not expecting and it has made me a future loyal customer because I can't wait to bring more people here. It pains me to put this review because my waiter was a very nice guy but I have a major problem with this restaurant not accommodating " Solo Customers" with their menu. The most ridiculous experience because I happened to be by myself that night and I LITERALLY had no choice but to have the " Lucky Split" which clearly is designed for TWO PEOPLE and NOT FOR ONE PERSON... it's frustrating and this picture I am including says it all. I ended up ( with Tips) paying 120$ to eat what I normally pay in any UPSCALE Korean BBQ place 50-60$ max and all these food were left over ( picture ) . I don't like wasting money and I feel that this place while it is a good place , it is a rip off especially if you are a party of one. So, let me start by saying Soh has been one of my favorite restaurants even prior to Covid. Their sides are always so yummy and fresh, their meats are high-quality and deliciously marinated/seasoned, and their service was impeccable (Roland was the best). After Covid hit, we decided to try their Dosirak and I must say they are FANTASTIC! They have great portions and so so delicious. I always get the galbi where the cuts and marinated and tender, and they leave the bone (which I also love to gnaw at)! The bulgolgi is also yummy (refer to pic). Plus salad and a couple of sides - thus your one order will end up filling up two boxes! We have also tried their shrimp tempura was delicious as well. On a Sunday afternoon in May, my hubby and I met our friends for lunch at Soh grill. We parked at the school house for 90min free and walked 2 blocks over. We got seated with reservations at 12noon by the window. Our server was friendly and helpful. While waiting for friends, we got our banchans and pitcher of water. Free refills of 2 servings then it's $5 after that. We got seaweed, bean sprouts, kimichi, potato salad, ginger, wraps, salad. We got lucky split and all beef combo, and extra short ribs. The server cooked each items just right and changed the grill from cook beef to pork. The quality of meats is the tops as we took bite of steak, brisket, and short ribs. It was so tender as we dipped it in salt and dipping oil. We got free bibibamp and soybean stew with lucky split deal. Their bibibamp was delicious with pieces of scorched rice and soybean soup was really good too. My favorite banchan was potato salad and kimichi. I also love the interior with modern and minimal look. Thanks to rockstar eater we found this hidden gem. We got free soda off because we mention rockstar eater. Love this place! First of all, I m not a fan of all you can eat korean BBQ. I always over stuffed myself for those all you can eat meat. We have order the taco with short rib. They are very delicious . Fresh made and the shells are so crispy. One order comes with 2 tacos. Must try! We also order the beef which is very juicy and tender. You can choose to cook it yourself or the server can cook it for you. Did I mention they give you salad and some small dishes along with the rice and meat!?!?!? Came here with my siblings and daughter for dinner and we did the Raymond madness. This meal was SO delicious. The meat was tender but the best one was the ... I think it was the short rib and the ribeye. I can't decide. They were both so tender and juicy. Quality of the food was amazing and was only nearly the best part! At one point, I was looking around for the waitress and the chef in the back saw me and came over to get me more water. Chris, the waitress, was super fun and energetic the whole night, she even let us stay 30 minutes after close. Came for my wife's birthday dinner yesterday and we were all extremely disappointed. First, this place is supposed to be "better" because it's not AYCE so you expect better customer service and meat quality than AYCE establishments. Unfortunately this wasn't the case. Our waiter seemed like he did not want to be there. He was "cooking" our meats and he let the meat burn WHICH WE POINTED OUT. He nonchalantly says "Oh..." and just flips the meat on the other side again and walks away. Wtf bro? We are paying premium for good quality meat and service and you just burnt that meat and provided the poorest service one can provide. Seriously such a waste of time and money coming this here. Too much pork involved....and no brisket...I need my brisket. PRIME USDA SHORT RIB $27, PRIME BRISKET $16, PRIME TONGUE $17. That amount was perfect for 3 females. Beef was nicely marbled and good quality. Sides were typical, nothing too special. They don't have rice paper which is MY staple for kbbq so that was a huge downer for me :( All the BBQ was cooked for us...we didn't lift a finger. The staff were friendly...an older "mom" kept encouraging me to eat brisket because she knew I don't eat tongue. That was cute. This was an upscale Korean bbq. The portions were refined and dainty to cater to the sensibilities of the local populous. Smoke was swiftly vacuumed from the burners before it could even billow from the grills. The ambiance was very clean, with white counter tops, and backdrops of slick grey walls and furniture. I rather like smoky barbeque grills, middle aged ajumas who can barely speak English, and all you eat bbq and banchan. This was a sanitized version. Meat quality was not very good. Pretty confused with all the reviews about meat quality. Got the combo for 2 for $90. Brisket is not tender at all, nor flavorful. Even if it is overcooked, it shouldn't be too tough. Pork belly was a little better, but was flavorless. Once it cooled down, it was a little tough. This is the kind of meat quality I experience at cheap AYCE places. Banchan was also pretty meh. Kimchi was not fermented at all. Still enjoyed the seasoning though. They only serve prime beef so it can be a little pricey, but you get the quality you pay for. The pork is really high quality. The side dishes are amazing! I think they make it in house? The meal was good, but I wasn't super impressed. I only came because I won a $50 giveaway for this place on Instagram. The best thing was the seasoned short ribs. They also charge $1 for a bowl of rice, just a note. My main issue with this place was that the tables are too wide, so it didn't feel as intimate when eating with your party. In other words, I felt like the person in front of me was too far away. LOL Quality of meat here is pretty good, since it's not AYCE and it is on the higher end of KBBQs. The service was nice, attentive, but a bit extra. LOL The two waiters working there opened both doors as my family exited, like what a doorman at a hotel would do. Because they cook everything for you (so nice to be served), I felt a bit uncomfortable since the waiters would watch you eat to see how to progress your meal.
