Cute ramen place and comparable to Ramen restaurants in the SF Bay Area but their prices are cheaper! We ordered: Kuro Goma Tantanmen Ramen (son) Black on Black Ramen (husband) Sapporo Butter Ramen (me) Black Garlic Ramen (daughter) Green Tea Churros (kids) Everything was amazing. Minus one star because only the Black Garlic Ramen had a soft boiled egg. Yeah...we came back for a second time within a 3 day period. What can we say. We love this place. First and foremost we were greeted warmly by the servers and by chef John. It was a little busier this time, but we received the exact same wonderful service...and then some. We ordered ramen combos again, but this time my husband and I both tried the Kuro-Goma Tantanmen: a spicy pork based ramen with miso braised ground pork and chashu. It was SO. Delicious. Just the right amount of spiciness. We also tried the calamari and the chicken karange (I might be spelling that wrong, but I don't have a clear photo of the menu with me today), and had the shrimp again. The calamari was great. The chicken was good too, but not a favorite. We'll get the gyoza again next time instead. As we were starting our meal, chef John came over and welcomed us back, and then asked us if we had room to try something new that was going to be going on the menu next week. Of course we said yes. He said that they are putting dipping noodles on the menu, and gave us the choice of 3 different broths. We chose the spicy miso. When he brought the tray out, we were all so excited to taste it, and let me tell you, this did NOT disappoint. The miso broth was rich, with a mild spice. The noodles were perfect. Can I talk about the eggs? These had such a velvety, rich texture and taste, I honestly could eat a whole plate of just these. We all felt like VIPs, sitting there trying out an item that was not on the menu yet. We were extremely honored to be given the chance to sample this item. I can't wait to come back and order this. There's something to be said about a chef who is excited about what he does, and its very clear to my husband, friends and I (we've brought two different people with us) that chef John is exited and passionate about what he does, and the food he creates. I've only seen a handful of chefs talk so animatedly about their food, and its wonderful to see. When someone is this passionate, it truly comes out in the finished product. Oh. Came here after finding out a possible 3 new dishes ! and its something we DON'T have in Las Vegas ! TSUKEMEN ! For those who don't know, Tsukemen is a type of ramen where the noodles and toppings are separate from the soup and dipped to eat. Similar to cold soba, where the soba is on a separate platter and dipping in the sauce. With places like Tsujita LA in Sawtelle, CA and Mensho Tokyo in SF, tsukemen is not only popular in Japan, but in the US as well ! I'm SUPER excited to have this option be soon available as i've been craving for a tsukemen option in Las Vegas for years ! The soup itself is more "condensed" than a normal ramen soup. Tsukemen is typically served w/ thick noodles at a cold to room temp, whereas the soup would be warm/hot and thick. Dipping the noodles in the soup allows it to grab onto the thick noodles and add flavor. Some places would even offer hot water or a soup at the end to dilute the soup that was used for dipping, to conclude the meal by drinking, not wasting a single drop. Chef John has 3, soon to be 4 (shoyu) tsukemen in the making ! Tonkotsu, yuzu tantan (or i call it yuzu sesame), and spicy miso. Spicy miso was the strongest in flavor whereas the tonkotsu is "lightest" (surprisingly). The yuzu tantan falls somewhere in the middle, but more towards the spicy miso. All tsukemen's come with 8 oz of noodles (as opposed to 5-6 oz for the soup ramens). Reasons are that you tend to eat tsukemen faster due to the lower temperature and its not sitting in a soup, soaking up the broth, and getting fatter. All tsukemen noodles are topped with their signature pork shoulder chashu, torched to add some smokey flavor, their multi-day marinated soft-boiled eggs, bean sprouts, garlic chives, and wood ear mushrooms. Tsukemen noodles are cooked to perfection with a good amount of bite to it. On the side, a dish with some additional seasonings to "tweak" and "change" the flavor is provided as well including bonito flakes, green onion, wedge of lemon, and togarashi. To be honest, i can't say which one is my favorite. They are all SO GOOD ! But each for their own reasons ! Spicy miso has that nice kick with saltiness and strong flavor. Yuzu sesame has that earthy roasted sesame flavor with a nice little spicy kick. Then tonkotsu is just nice and clean with a straight forward flavor. All the soups change with the additional seasonings to keep it interesting. With all the various combinations I tried, they're all just good ! Almost want to say 8 oz of noodles still not enough but I was really hungry... so will see LOL I'm excited to have this option available in the upcoming summer season ! Wow...they've only been open a couple of weeks and Sojo Ramen is crushing it...many visits coming in the near future.. Sojo Service & Ambiance: A mom & pop sized Ramen house complete with clean minimalist Japanese decor. No murals or art but wooden wall frames paired with wooden tables and chairs makes for a very small but pleasant dining area. Our server was friendly and helped us with the menu. The owner/chef stopped by to check on us and was very friendly. When we left I was given a to go cup for my iced green tea and they even filled it up for me. Awesome Sojo Ramen+: We went with awesome $12.35 combo that gets you an appetizer and a bowl of Ramen. Our tour of the appetizers were the Pork Chasu Tacos, Garlic kale and the edamame The Garlic Kale came our warm and packed with flavor form the garlic, a pleasant surprise. The Pork Chasu Tacos are tiny in size but full of flavor. The Sapporo Butter Miso Ramen was absolutely fantastic. The broth was savory and the noodles fresh and delish and I would totally believe it if they were made in house. The pork chasu was tasty and all the portions in the Ramen bowl were generous. The ramen noodles were filled almost all the way up to the surface. A++ all around... Their secret in house "Flaming Sauce" is incredible. Located a few doors down from their sister restaurant Soho Sushi! Quick service and excellent ramen. Soft opening special includes a free appetizer with any purchase of ramen. Was able to try the ika geso, house fries and gyoza. Ika geso was crispy and delicious and served on two skewers. House fries were seasoned were furikake which gave it nice extra flavor. Gyoza was crunchy and paired well with the ponzu dipping sauce. Everything came out pretty fast. I ordered the Sapporo Butter Miso ramen with soft boiled egg which was extra. Great flavor and a generous amount of noodles. Was very filling, didn't get to finish it all! It comes with pork chashu as well as ground pork. Impressed by the service. My family and I couldn't decide where to go for dinner on Friday night. I had checked out some local restaurants near the 215/Rainbow area and Sojo Ramen popped up. There were a wide variety of amazing reviews on Yelp, so I pitched my vote to go check out Sojo Ramen for dinner. Sojo Ramen is pretty easy to get too. You can take the 215/Jones to get to Sojo Ramen, a few blocks from the major highway. Sojo Ramen is located in the same plaza as Soho Japanese Restaurant. We had entered the restaurant and was immediately greeted with a smile. A table was set for 4 and we were immediately seated. The ambiance is relatively nice and laid back inside the restaurant. The menu consists of a wide variety of ramen bowls, appetizers, and a few selected deserts. Since I wasn't too hungry, I decided to try a few appetizers out and share some of my boyfriends meal. Appetizers: Kale Broccoli Chicken Karaage Gyoza Chashu Taco [Pork] My boyfriend ended up selecting a Ramen bowl [pork] with fried rice. Our appetizers came out pretty quickly. I tried everything that came to the table. The garlic Kale was pretty decent. It was quite bland though, with very little garlic on the Kale. The Broccoli was a little too spicy for my taste. It seemed like there was a lot of pepper on the Broccoli. The Chicken Karaage was okay. The batter was a lot lighter than what I am used to. There was a lot of batter on the chicken, but the chicken itself was relatively large. The Gyoza was good. Deep-fried and not under cooked. The Chashu Taco [pork] was interesting. I typically don't like avocado cream, so I had asked for it on the side. The Taco itself was quite acidic. Make sure to include the avocado cream on the Taco if you order the appetizer. It helps balance out the acidic taste. I tried out my boyfriend's ramen and fried rice. Both were tasteful. The quantity is large, so make sure to come here on a empty stomach! For dessert, we ended up getting the green tea churro, caramel filled, with vanilla ice cream... It was absolutely amazing!! It was so scrumptious and tasted out of this world! So have been continuing a recent ramen kick which is rare since I know how difficult it is to find good ramen in the states and I have been pretty spoiled with being to Japan multiple times (15+ times) and having the opportunity to try so many ramen places. Ramen is a very complex dish in my mind and carries so many things that can go wrong....and what ive found in the states is that it tends to be too salty, or the chashu is overcooked and not tender, or the egg is not cooked in a way that is meaningful, etc. With all this complexity I find myself stopping the journey to find ramen as I feel it just wont be even half good. Even with this apprehension, I decided to try Sojo Ramen because I saw a lot of reviews on their tsukemen which is a dish I desperately love. Made my way over for their noon opening and there were no lines which made the seating process easy. The inside of the restaurant is clean and has a nice modern-esque feel. The service was extremely friendly and they were attentive so plus marks there. The menu is broken down into appetizers (which can be added if you make a ramen a "combo" for a good price), ramen, and then some bowls and salads. The two of us ordered the tsukemen in both the Black Garlic and Spicy Miso flavors and made one of them a combo with the chicken karaage. I also ordered a beer as they have small selection of adult beverages. The ramens were brought out on a try and they carry pork chashu, soft boiled egg, onions, wood ear mushrooms, bean sprouts, etc. The tuskemen is probably some of the best ive had out of the states. When I was reading some of the yelp reviews I saw a reference or two towards "Fuunji" which is this amazing ramen place that I absolutely love in Tokyo so I had high hopes and perhaps because of these high hopes it didn't quite hit that fond memory but that does not mean the ramen wasn't good. I was a fan of the broth and it had the right first layer of complexity for flavors. The second layer is usually offering some hot water or a soup base to add at the end of dipping all the noodles to allow no waste in the delicious flavors. I personally liked the spicy miso a bit more than the black garlic but both were good. The noodles were cooked to a allow a good amount of bite for it. The karaage was very good and loved the side dip. This is definitely a solid ramen joint. My husband recently learned he has a gluten sensitivity and has to avoid gluten as much as possible now. The problem is he loves asian food and he can no longer enjoy so many of our former favorite go-to spots here in Las Vegas. So we started our mission to find some gluten free options for ramen. This is the only ramen restaurant we found that offers gluten free broth options, rice noodles, and the option to add meat that's also gluten free. For this reason we are very thankful to the chef for providing these options so my husband can still have an enjoyable eating experience that's somewhat similar to what he used to be able to eat. We like that ordering online is so easy and everything GF is clearly labeled. So far he has tried the veggie spicy garlic shoyu ramen which he loves. He adds the chicken chashu to it and is always happy with the overall taste. I've also tried some of the broth and it's very tasty with a definite kick. The spicy oil can coat the back of your throat so be careful! We only tried this place once before it transitioned to serving only chicken based ramen and I don't mind the change at all. I actually recently tried the signature black garlic chicken ramen and compared to when I had it with pork, I prefer the chicken. I thought it was overly garlicky before but now it is more balanced. The other broth I tried recently was the Champon which was also delicious. It has the addition of more veggies in it so it does feel healthier. I will probably alternate between these two flavors depending on my mood. All of our experiences have been through ordering takeout and they have been very positive so far. We definitely plan on returning often and will update if we decide to dine-in, especially since it's not very far from where we live. I was intrigued by their soft opening special that was going on last week (free combo upgrade aka free appetizers with every ramen order) and we enjoyed the food so much that Sojo definitely got themselves regular customers. They have a few ramen options: Sojo champon , tantanmen , tonkatsu & Sapporo butter miso. Only one I didn't get to try was the Sojo champon. Tonkatsu was by far my favorite & comes with the egg already. Broth was perfect - not too oily & not too salty ! Light yet packed full with flavor. For appetizers - we all shared the fried rice , pork chashu tacos , mochiko shrimp & chicken karaage. For dessert , must order their GREEN TEA CHURROS. It's filled with salted caramel and topped with scoop of vanilla ice cream (altho my boyfriend and his friends said the ice cream tastes like butter (still in a good way)). Quick service here - everyone that was working was very polite & I liked how chef personally came out to greet every guest. The valley needs to get ready for Sojo Ramen! From one the creators of Soho Sushi, Chef John has decided to grace the city with his ramen creations! They are currently in soft opening week. Today was day two of their soft opening. They are opened Monday through Sunday 11:30 AM to 9:30 PM. Whether or not the hours will change later, I don't know. But currently, those are the hours. They also have a soft opening special. You get a free combo upgrade with any purchase of ramen. So you pretty much get a free appetizer during their soft opening week. Right now, their ramen menu is a bit limited but the chef does plan to expand the choices. They currently have four ramen choices for you: Sojo Champon, Kuro-Goma Tantanmen, Tonkotsu Ramen, and Sapporo Butter Miso. For appetizers, we tried their kurobuta sausage, pork chasu taco, and house fries. Their sausages was really yummy -- just the right portion. The pork in the taco is quite lean and the taco overall was pretty dry. It would have been great with some salsa. Their house fries were pretty decent :) We had a very lucky night -- we were able to try ALL of their ramen. I got their sojo champon, my husband got their tonkotsu, my best friend got their tantanmen, and the chef gifted us with the miso ramen. The Sojo Champon is a fusion ramen - half Japanese, half Chinese/Korean. The base for the sojo champon is pretty much the same base as tonkotsu but they use a wok to put the soup and veggies in to cook before serving it. Because the soup gets cooked in the wok before it gets served, some of the soup condenses down, causing it to be thicker with a different taste. The Tonkotsu Ramen, by far, is my favorite. Sojo's version is flavorful yet it's not too greasy, too oily, or too salty. It's probably one of the best versions I've had in the states. Typically, most places in the states make their tonkotsu soup base super heavy and super salty and that usually makes me sick. However, Sojo's version is perfect. The Kuro-Goma Tantanmen uses black sesame so it has that type of earthy aroma to it. It is definitely different than your usual tantanmen style. It's not dry and it's not that spicy :) The Sapporo Butter Miso ramen is by far the most flavorful. It's actually quite heavy as well. The miso paste that they use is different -- they puree carrots and onions into it as well. There is more than just miso in this soup base. Their noodles are cooked perfectly. It had just the right amount of bite to it and it's not overcooked. A definite plus from me. I hate overcooked noodles even if it is slight. On the table, there are add-ons for you to choose from. There's sliced ginger, chili, and garlic. If you ask the server, you can request their flaming hot chili sauce too! Their garlic sauce is absolutely DELICIOUS. It doesn't taste like pure garlic. It had some salt in there and probably something else to make it more savory. It was delicious with the ramen! Their flaming chili definitely as a good kick! Beware while using it. They have one dessert on the menu: green tea churros filled with salted caramel. Super delicious! They are still experimenting and tweaking stuff so they might eventually add something to the plate of churros. In fact, they're still tweaking everything! We definitely enjoyed our meal and will be back. Chef John is great! We got to chat with him and got to know what he's been up to and everything. Give them a try. Sojo isn't traditional so don't walk in thinking it is...it's out of the box. I'm glad that I finally have a place where I can have tonkotsu ramen again without feeling sick from the oil! read more

Best in the Southwest. There's just so many ramen spots opening up and it's starting to get hard to compete but I think Sojo is one of the few that sticks out from the rest. From the owners of soho sushi and conveniently located next door. The service is always spot on and attentive, and I like the versatility to substitute same priced options on the menu. For example I'm not an onion guy (bleck!) but I do like corn with my tonkatsu, or garlic; ramen sojo used substitute! ..the flavor is super effective! ~presentation is nice too, so make sure to take out your phones and make your ig followers jelly. As for appetizers I would suggest their crispy broccoli. If you're a fan of jinya ramen's cauliflower, you'll find that sojo's broccoli is strikingly similar and delicious for a healthy side dish. It is a bit of a small space but they do accommodate for their parties when they need to. Their booths are wood but it wasn't uncomfortable. Service: Now service was amazing as always! I've been here a couple of time and the service is always good. They were very quick to seat us and get our orders. After we ordered, it wasn't to much of a wait before our appetizers started coming. The staff came around often to check on us. After we ate, they cleared the table fairly quickly and separated our ramen to solids and broths for us to take it to go. Then they even gave my niece and nephew some ice cream because it looked like they had a long day which we appreciated. Alright.... Now to the FOOD! For appetizers, we ordered mochiko shrimp, kurobuta sausage, ika geso and gyoza. Everything was good. We had no complaints. Everything came fresh and quickly. The curry aioli that came with the ika geso and sausage was well paired. I ordered the SOJO Champon which was amazing! The broth was a good consistency wasn't too thick but still super creamy. First visit I got the following: Curry mayo sauce is yummy. Pork chashu taco is ok. Ika Geso is really good. Sojo Champon is okay. Wasn't a fan of the noodles. However, on my second visit, I came for the tonkotsu ramen and I love those firm thinner noodles. Service is good. Very friendly and easy to get along with. Chef John is also a gem. Super sweet. Garlic kale is a new appetizer he's trying out and it's gluten free and vegan. It's actually quite good and I'm not a fan of kale normally. A lot of the appetizers are on SoHo's menu but I have never tried over there so it's nice to discover a few appetizer gems for variety. Spoke to chef for a little bit. Super cute/cozy little spot located in a strip mall. Went in to have a little solo dinner and it was mostly empty, no long wait on a Sunday evening which was nice. Where's the pork? Their menu is all new and supposedly healthy, according to the employee. I was told the chef wanted healthy ramen so he created this new all chicken based item menu. I ordered their "tonkatsu" replacement ramen and it had ramen, wood ear and chicken "chasu". It doesn't even come with boiled egg anymore. The broth tastes fine nothing amazing. If anything, it was slightly saltier. The chicken "chasu" tastes like soft sliced chicken breast. It was kinda odd actually. The texture made me think it was raw. I'm disappointed they don't have their pork options anymore and will find a new ramen place. read more

The spicy veggie ramen is unbelievably delicious! The spice level is perfect, the broth is AMAZING! Fried broccoli has this crunch but still soft and warm inside and it's seasoned to perfection. Very clean, staff is is always welcoming. You must try!! read more

Came with a friend of mine who has never been here. I had a couple time before and fell in love. They have now added pork broth and it's delicious! $4 apps with a bowl of ramen Monday through Thursday! Can't beat that. He had the deluxe ramen and the new spicy Sriracha Mala ramen. DELICIOUS! Highly recommend. They also have servers now! Jody took care of us and was on top of it. Service was smooth and fast. And when we got the bill they gave us HI-Chews!!!! read more

Normally, I give business the benefit of the doubt but this time, Sojo Ramen really dropped the ball. I ordered a Tonkatsu Ramen along with extra noodles through a third party app and the food was prepared promptly and ahead of schedule for me to pick up. However, with less than 10 minutes drive to my place, the broth was already lukewarm, making me doubt if the broth was hot in the first place. Heating it up is no hassle for me, however, I quickly realized that the ramen topping was pathetic and doesn't match what is pictured. The tonkatsu ramen was serve with 2 paper thin slices of chasu and minimal green onions.... and that's it. The extra noodle prepares was different thickness with the noodle that was packaged with the tonkatsu ramen order. Mixing 2 noodle types with different thickness and texture was odd in general. An intimate small space for your ramen fix! I like to get the Black Garlic Tonkotsu ramen with thin noodles. Sometimes it can be a little salty, but I don't mind it too much. I still enjoy it! You must try the Pork Chashu tacos!!! They are so good. Sometimes they will have complimentary teas/juices which are self serve, so be on the lookout! It's usually right by the entrance. It's interesting how you order the food on your phone and they deliver it to your table. You don't really get much interaction with the servers, but they are always there if you need them. We tried out this gem on a last minute date night. I've only been one time, but it was some of the best ramen I've had in Vegas. I'm no ramen expert by any means, but it was freakin delicious and a good sized portion for the price. This spot is small and clean and the staff is very nice. Ordering through your phone exclusively kind of through me off, but it worked well and was crazy fast. There were some kids on tablets watching shows at full volume at the table next to us, but that is on the parents and not the restaurant. We will definitely be back soon. read more

Wanted to try a new Ramen spot for "Valentine's Day" went the day afterwards to avoid crowds (amazing idea). We walked in and the place was very clean, huge bench seats to make it spacious of course. Sat down immediately and was given water. A couple minutes later our order was taken. I order the Spicy Butter Miso Ramen with Pork, Gyoza and my partner ordered the fried Udon with chicken. The Ramen was, amazing! Really great flavor, the butter was a really nice touch (I had never had it before), it was not really spicy but had great spices. The gyoza was good but the sauce was really good. I am always looking for good mixtures to go with the gyoza and this has been the best in a long time, that I've tried. My partner said his Udon was really good and the gyoza was also really good.
