    Fried Calamari & Rock Shrimp
    Johnnetta F.

Went up to the 22nd floor and decided to go back down to the restaurant and eat there. Reck was the bartender whom provided us phenomenal service. The calamari and shrimp was delicious and so was the mountain of fries they gave us. My partner got the chicken fried rice which he said was really good as well. We were the only ones there besides the bartender so it was perfect. Giving us the perfect atmosphere to enjoy each other in with.

I had the best food and drink at Soliel@k! ALL of it truly rivaled even the best restos in Las Vegas! This isn't surprising to me though, because San Diego has a top-spot when it comes to good restaurants and food in general. Customer service at Soleil@k is quietly understated. Waiters are soft spoken, and are intuitive enough to respect your need for quiet solace if necessary. But even then, the level of efficiency does not take away from the non-intrusive and low key service. It's the perfect place for you if you are a business-person who likes great food. Or if you are a single lady and want to enjoy your time by having an elegant meal alone, and leave the hustle and bustle of a far too fast-paced world behind. These times are pretty few and far between, so we must enjoy them when we can recognize them. Soleil@k is such a place to be able to enjoy these moments. Trust me, this is a unique and pleasant find. Soliel@k is Marriott's Gaslamp Quarter Hotel's restaurant, located on the lobby level. There is additional dining outdoors, along the front of the hotel, where you can sit and people watch while dining. Located a few steps from Petco Park, the hotel is located at the mouth of the Gaslamp District, so it gets a lot of foot traffic. One of the meals that really stands out for me was my lunch, which was a cheeseburger. It wasn't just your ordinary cheeseburger though. I asked for bacon and counted 7 whole pieces of bacon on that burger (yes, 7 pieces!)!! It came on a poppy-seeded bun that was perfectly toasted. The taste was out of this world delicious! I ate all of it, and I usually never finish a burger in one sitting. As if that wasn't enough, alongside it came a spring salad, with a homemade salad dressing that was so good, I asked them for a to-go box so I could eat the rest of the salad later. Funny, cause I don't ever remember asking for a to-go box FOR A SALAD! Haha! This lunch was a reasonably priced $12.00. I highly recommend this beautifully designed and decorated restaurant! Go today! I promise you, you won't be disappointed! *****FIVE FANTABULOUS STARS!!!!!

Soleil @ K is our annual breakfast spot post SD Rock and Roll Half Marathon. We were able to be seated right away without any wait at the hostess station. The ambiance is nice, clean, and the seats are very comfortable. I marked my rating down 1 to 4 stars due to the long wait to have a waiter visit our table. Our waiter took our drink & food orders by memory. Our meals were delivered in a timely manner. All of the dishes looked delicious. I ordered a Carb Conscience Frittata. It was fantastic!! My friends ordered Crunchy French Toast with a generous side of bacon (there were probably 6 slices), Eggs Benedict, and an Omelet. Our waiter was friendly, helpful, and spot on.

Decided to dine here since I stayed at the Marriott hotel and didn't feel like driving. Time was after 9:00 pm and the restaurant was filled near to capacity with two large parties and outdoor dinning was also busy. The decor is chic and modern and it's nice to have an option to dine outdoors or indoors. The matradee took care of us and sat us at a booth which was great since I didn't make reservations. The waitress was friendly and attentive considering she was taking care of a large bachelorette party and another two parties. We munched on the bread basket which had a nice variety of tasty fresh bread. For my main entree I went with the Star Ranch Grass Fed Rib Eye which included steamed veggies, frizzled Leeks, Au gratin potato and red wine sauce. The steak was tender, juicy and delicious. veggies were steamed perfectly and the Au gratin potato was crisp on the outside and hot inside with a hearty flavor. Kenwood Merlot paired well with my dinner. I also dined here for breakfast twice and both times was pleased with the service and quality of the food and service. This restaurant has a great chorizo omelet and the best sausage patties!

Great food inside the Marriott hotel. I dined here three to four times on my stay and each time every selection was delicious hot and fresh. Never was there a long wait but, once after raving to my husband about the service and attentiveness of the staff I brought him to have a drink. We were seated and no one checked on us for over thirty minutes so we left without drinks or possibly food. Well that was an awful first impression for my husband. I insisted it had to be a fluke and brought him back on our next stay. He did enjoy the food and atmosphere this time around. Loved the Poutine Fries and what a great item to have on the menu to offer diversity besides latin and American Fare. Another fave is the house margaritas. Try sitting outdoors and watch the crowds go by during a game.

I do like the patio dining as you can enjoy your food while you can look at people while they do their thing. I did not like my blackened chicken sandwich. The chicken was very dry and the same goes for the top bun too. What the heck, yo? I needed to take a break from all these red meats, so I end up with this...dry bun and dry chicken. What can you do? The garlic fries were pretty good as well the ketchup. Love their ice water too.

Went here for my mom's birthday dinner. Went in around 630pm on a Friday and it was very empty and did not get much busier by the time we left. For a restaurant of such high quality, I did not find it very impressive. The menu was pretty small, with not much to choose from. When you go somewhere and it takes you more than 15 minutes to choose what you want (not because there's too many options, but because you don't know what to choose of the available options), then that is a poor start to dinner. Also, the dish that my mom did pick out, they ended up not having, and she had to default to something she did not really want, again because the small menu. But with that being said, what we did order ended up being really yummy. For the birthday girl, a huge cotton candy and icecream for dessert.

Appetizers were served in about 5 minutes. Crispy Calamari was one of the best we've had. Crispy with a balsamic like dipping sauce. Ahi Tuna & Salmon Poke was delicious as well. Everything was fresh! Seafood Fettuccine was great as well; it's just that the mussels were on the smaller side, as if it was a peanut size. The place was nice and cozy, especially its location by the bay. Been here years ago with better experience. Will avoid ordering their old fashioned, might be the worse one I've ever had. Will order another cocktail next time. Overall, it's a great place to celebrate any special occasion. We were here for our 10 year anniversary.

I was seated in a cute little corner high top with a view of what they're doing in the kitchen. He mentioned they'd course the dishes out, 2 at a time, ensuring each of the dishes were paired intentionally. Beet Salad From someone who's not easily impressed with vegetable-led dishes, this was delicious. This dish was visually vibrant, and the flavor mirrored that vibrancy. The beets themselves were stunningly soft, even juicy I'd say. It's root-y flavor was ever-present, but it never became unwelcome on the dish. "Fragrant" is another word we all used to describe the plate, with the fresh mint and succulent citrus fruit widening each our eyes. Sweet, savory, fresh and...creamy. This salad sat on top of a delightful carrot labneh, which provided a creamy element further elevating the dish. It brought a bit of tang to the salad that I appreciated. Finally, there was a crunchy detail (which we know I love) from intelligently included pieces of pastelli--a Greek treat made from sesame seeds and honey, and that sweet crunch fostered the table's excitement. Trust was firing on cylinders early, strong start. Hamachi Crudo Insane. I'm a big fan of the amount of flavor that's packed in such a delicate dish. Off rip, you're met with a visually exciting dish. Red, green, and purple from the thinly sliced pepper, cucumber, and radish pop right off the dish. Bright colors and exquisite execution, placed in a circle to match the shape of the dish, had each of us salivating. With the first taste, the crisp bite of fresh cucumber catches your senses immediately, and then subtly spicy, cream sauce. It was aguachile blanco--my first time having the blanco variant. The flavor was stupid, I struggled to describe it's uniqueness. The Mexican flavor profile was proliferated by fresh cilantro and thinly sliced radish, followed with a textured salsa seca. The light nature of the dish paired pristinely with the beet salad. Now, these next two dishes were an exciting 1-2 punch in showing you exactly what Chef is all about--that signature wood fire Wood Grilled Cauliflower I always eat my vegetables, but I rarely enjoy them. They're two for two in accomplishing that feat. In a bowl lined with curry, they served up a healthy helping of cauliflower that showcases its smokiness first. With that first bite, you taste the fire quickly, but what surprised me most was how soft each piece of the veg was. The curry and smoky flavor from the wood fire paired deliciously. Though, my favorite aspect of this delivery was the inclusion of raisins and fresh mint. This was a new combo for me, and it delivered. The sourness from the raisins and the cool, herbaceous qualities of the mint cut right through the charred flavor. A beautiful contrast. As we continued to dismantle the plate, there was a familiar flavor that we all recognized but couldn't identify. Maybe it was the serrano aioli or the black lentils. Either way, we all enjoyed this one. Wood Grilled Octopus This was a favorite of mine, but I was alone in that regard. While nobody disliked the dish, the table had mixed reviews. For me, this was perfectly cooked. The texture of the octopus was ridiculous with a cooking technique that created a crispy exterior while maintaining a tender bite. The smokiness didn't shy away here either. I mean damn. Most weren't a fan of the pepperoni, but fresh, ground meat added a rustic flavor pop that satiated my palate. It held that beloved pepperoni flavor, but this style allowed for it's flavor to spread across each bite. What made this dish unique from any other octopus I've had was the addition of castelvetrano olives and legumes. They both brought an interesting flavor and texture element that surprised me. Lastly, the salsa verde served as a perfect sauce, providing an element of moisture that complimented the charred features. Well done. After round two is when shit got real. Crab Fried Rice OH SHIT. WTF. One of the best rice dishes I've ever had. This is one we all wished was much much bigger. Despite the name, this dish includes chunks of incredibly juicy, wood-roasted lobster that there was never going to be enough of. The crab was shredded and could be found in each bite of plump rice, providing a pleasing flavor. Both a lemongrass emulsion and Thai chili were included, offering a wonderful duality of zest and spice. I thoroughly enjoyed the basil and cashew elements as they created some extra variety in flavor and texture. Not much else is needed for me to say, it's a must order. Char Sui Glazed Brisket OH SHIT. Back to back hitters, and they paired... Ruby was the first person I spoke with when I initially called, and she was lovely. The general manager Amber made planning easy - there were no deposits or minimums, I was able to order platters in advance, and she was great with communication. When I mentioned that the group loved Rumplemintz shots, Amber even set some aside after ordering extra bottles (and had it cold and ready when we came in). I was able to meet and thank Amber after we first came in, and she was so warm and welcoming and even gave us a few Rumplemintz shots on the house to kick things off (thank you again, Amber!). The reviews don't lie in terms of how good the food here is. When we arrived a little early, they had our platters ready almost immediately and kept them well-heated. We had platters of the sticky garlic wings and a mix of the garlic and regular fries, and ordered pretzels and queso and the elote dip à la carte for the tables. Everything was amazing and the sticky garlic wings and garlic fries were such a hit that we ordered a few extra plates of them as well (even though the platters were perfect for our group size). EVERYONE raved about them. We had a small amount left to bring home that were enjoyed the next evening and were still amazing after being reheated. A few people in our party got additional food items as well (burgers) and they were hits as well. The drinks were also phenomenal, with a special shoutout for the espresso martini and the Purple Haze mocktail (that a few folks liked so much they got an alcoholic version). We had a person in our group who can't drink and it was nice to see how inclusive they are with having a few signature mocktail options. The pricing was very reasonable, especially for the platters (they were perfectly sized, and we only ordered a little extra because the food was so good and we'd wanted to take some home). Highly recommend getting platters with a larger group here - you can pre-order and they keep everything well-heated for you the whole time. Most importantly, this place is a vibe and every single staff member we interacted with was SO KIND and accommodating. The service was top-notch and I wish I had everyone's names to thank them individually (thanks to everyone working Saturday, 8/1 evening!). We had the best time and Werewolf couldn't have been a more perfect place to host a Birthday dinner.

We came back recently for a nice dinner with my mom and again I was impressed! Their menu changes and this time I enjoyed the chicken roulade dish that came with cauliflower puree and succotash. Chicken was not overcooked, the sauce and flavor were amazing, and the fresh baked garlic pita bread was phenomenal. My husband enjoyed a steak. House sourdough, and yodel dessert were good. I appreciate the interior. It's rustic, but also very upscale. It's a big open space and it's not super quiet inside, but not too loud that you can't hear people at your table, and you can't hear other tables conversations. I can tell they put a lot of thought into this by having porous walls and structures or decor that break up any echoing. The music was the perfect volume as well. Our waitress, Cassidy, was so nice and knowledgeable of the menu. She explained it in detail and went over the differences with the dish sizes. She also made a great recommendation on the Pinot Noir wine. It met the flavor profiles I enjoy with wine. She came back and checked on us, but not too often. The other staff were great too! I do have to note that at one point in the night, there was a lady dressed in a suit (I'm guessing a manager) that was following the waitresses every move. I'm not sure if maybe she is in training or there was some sort of review process happening but I found it awkward. I got "micromanager" vibes. Overall a great experience! It's fine dining and pricey, but is good for special occasions. I would recommend dressing at least semi-nice, but it's not a requirement.

Definitely on the pricier end for certain dishes but many of them are well worth it! - sourdough bread: good but also why are we spending $16 here. can't say it's worth - ahi tartare: no notes, everything hit, would come back for this alone - steamed clam and mussels: these were some meaty af mussels. delicious! the clams were tiny & pathetic tho and can't say I loved having the chorizo in there - charred broccolini: honestly don't remember this well but i had no complaints - grilled oysters: another fav of mine!!! a must get - hearth roasted carrots: the yogurt & pesto were on the side (due to dairy restrictions) but the pesto was SO. GOOD. paired beautifully with the carrots!!!!! I'm dying to know how to make this at home myself - branzino: good but would skip. I do typically like fish entrees but this wasn't overly impressive. could've used more sauce - NY strip: our favorite entree!!!! paired SO with the bone marrow - duck: super tender and fell right off the bone!!! our second fav entree - almond joy: incredible dessert, every bite I felt like I was getting a little something new. vanilla ice cream in the middle. LOVEEED this as our ending to dinner

Came for happy hour (wed-sun 4-6) in the bar ONLY.The bar is located in a separate room than the…read moredining area. Happy hour seating is walk ins only, no reservations. There is a "happy hour" on Monday but it's called Ouster Monday, oysters are $1 and they have different specials that are not offered on the normal happy hour. Got the crispy chicken wings, Wagyu longaniza, and burger The chicken wings were very crispy and came topped with a jalapeño relish. The relish had a citrusy taste to it or maybe it was the liquid from the pickled jalapeños. I liked the crispness of the chicken but I think the relish was too acidic for me. The Wagyu longaniza was my favorite, very strong beefy flavor. It came on top of salsa matcha which i thought was very tasty so much that I dipped the wings and burger in the sauce. The slice of radish on top gave it a nice texture and crunch. I see the Wagyu hotdog is offered on the oyster Monday special so I'm gonna have to come back and try that for sure. The burger was cooked nicely, medium as requested. It came topped with an egg, truffled onion jam, and cheddar cheese. The bun was nicely toasted and the egg and cheese added a nice rich element to it but I didn't care for the onion jam, it gave the burger an overall sweet profile. I'd simply ask for it without next time. Over all a solid burger, maybe I'd add bacon too. I also had a margarita which was on happy hour special. I asked for it to be spicy and they added a tajin rim which was nice. Spicy and refreshing! Parking is all on the street so I had to part a few blocks away. Overall a solid happy hour. I'll be back on Oyster Monday for the hot dog and fish collars.
