Pizza and pasta both were very yummy. Caesar salad was one of my favorites I've had. If you don't like loud music and noisy environment then skip this spot. It's very lively. My only complaint was our server never brought our water. She started off strong but we had to flag her down every time we needed anything. After a long shopping day in SoHo, we walked into Song E Napule at around 4pm and were seated immediately. From the moment you walk in, you're transported to a Italy. From their service, the food, the ambiance, all of it has some Italian charm to it. The pizzas were so remarkably light and airy. Normally after eating pizza, I get food coma/feel a little sick from the greasiness but not here, it didn't weigh me down at all! I've been on a gourmet pizza hunt in recent weeks, so I've made it a mission to try some of the best NYC and even Jersey City has to offer. Unlike some of the fancier spots, I was able to secure a reservation easily at 7:30pm on a Friday evening. The place is pretty cute in both the interior and exterior. Definitely gives the vibes of a pizzeria in Italy, definitely Naples. Knowing the style of pizza and the sizing, we opted for two pizzas. We got the pizza parmigiana and what I believe is the Porcini, but could easily be wrong. It's the white pie with mushrooms and I guess some basil. Pizzas were awesome. Very easy to eat as the pies were very light. The pizza parmigiana was one of my favorites as eggplant is my favorite gourmet topping. Marinara sauce was also wonderfully tasty. The white pie was good too. I just think I butchered the actual item I ordered. The service is relatively fast once you place your order too. I think we finished in just under an hour. I dream of Song e Napule. It is the best place I have ever enjoyed pizza in the city. The restaurant we went to countless times was the original, size of a postage stamp and all the better for it. Seventeen months ago, this establishment graced me with the most precious moment. Eating Margherita pizza with guttural noises of approval from my compatriot Jackson, we spotted a girl no older than six roaming the restaurant with immense comfort. Hugging workers legs and peering onto the open kitchen counters. We thought this was surely blood to the owner, but it was cuter than that. Every Sunday this little girl would join her father for lunch at Song E Napule. She'd been coming here for hundreds of Sundays! Our waiter brought her over like the celebrity she is and introduced this little legend. Initially shying away, I asked to hear her favorite slice. In very American English she says "cheeeese" and then in very Italian English "and Margherita!" I affirm her by saying (in American English) that Margherita is my favorite too. Her response (in very Italian English) was "No! Mar-guh-reeta!!" Cute, adorable, sweet, all of the above. Shoutout that dad too, you rock. Our party came to share a Margherita pie and was met with the same familial hospitality. When your waiter hits you with a "there you go family" while he sets down a circle of oven-fired heaven then you've made it. Savor that moment and any future seat in this place. A final anecdote, tummies were a bit shambolic after a lot of previous restaurant stops. The lemon baking soda concoction that coats mustaches and drips onto your shoes single-handedly revived my guy Dom's stummy. Song E Napule deserves your time. Much love! read more

This is my answer to the often asked--"what is your favorite pizza place in Manhattan?" Song'E Napule serves, by far, the best Napoli-style pizza I've had outside of Napoli. Take it from those in the know. Almost half of my fellow diners were speaking Italian. We ordered the delightful Diavola and Primavera pizzas and finished with a Nutella panacotta. Everything was fantastic. We come here often enough that I also have to address the birthday celebrations. They are wild and fun. The staff will bring out whipped cream and spray the birthday celebrant's face while throbbing Italian pop booms through the restaurant. It is an experience. Also, if you're curious what the Napoli/Neopolitan style is (it's not chocolate/strawberry/vanilla, for one), I'll quickly explain because it is not your standard New York slice. If you're not curious or already know what Napoli pizza is, all I have to say is this: Song'E nails it. Napoli explainer: In Neopolitan pizza, the key is simplicity. The thin crust is made of very few but extremely fresh ingredients. Bubbles should appear in the crust and there should be a slight char to the bottom. The sauce is also simple and the cheese (fresh buffala mozzarella) is in reduced proportion but still packs a flavor punch. The pizza has to be cooked at a higher temperature and for less time, so a specialized oven is required. And, famously, the first bites of every slice need to be eaten with a fork and knife, rather than by hand. read more

I saved this spot on my list to try their pizzas. When my friend mentioned that she was craving pizza, I suggested this place. Honestly, I was quite disappointed for my first impression... I came here for 7pm dinner with 2 friends. Since I knew this place is known for it's pizza, we opted to share a large 16 inch Margherita Pizza. The initial bite was good. It was warm. The pizza was a bit burnt on the crust, but it was understandable cause it comes from the pizza oven. The sauce was good - could tell that it's San Marzano. The cheese was not covering the whole slice like a standard NYC pizza, but more like circles of cheese pieces placed over the sauce. The cheese was good too. There were barely any basil on it. Overall the pizza tasted fine. However, I didn't think it matched it's pricing. The large pie was $28, but the slice were quite small. The size of the pie despite being "large" wasn't very big. This itself wasn't filling at all. Secondly, we ordered the Spaghetti Alle Vongole, which is the pasta with clams. But I was even more disappointed in that. The dish size was smaller than I thought. The sauce on the dish was very lacking. I barely tasted the tomato sauce. The clams itself was miniature - can be finished in minutes. There wasn't much to be filling either. Overall, I unfortunately had higher expectations that weren't met. I'm not sure if it was only that day, but I wish I had liked it better. The two dishes that we shared left us still very hungry. But the pricing was kinda high for the quality/quantity that we just opted to close out the check and order more elsewhere. read more

Interesting Italian restaurant offering quality pizzas and pastas in a heavily Maradona-themed environment. I ordered the Fettuccine Nere con Gamberi ($23), which was a squid ink pasta with shrimp and tomatoes. The pasta was cooked pretty well and the shrimp were large and meaty. Other than that it was fairly standard in quality. I also ordered the Salsicce e Funghi Pizza ($20), which had mushrooms, sausage, and mozzarella. The mozzarella in particular was very good and stretchy. The other toppings were decent. My main complaint about the pizza is that the dough was a bit too thin, which also made the toppings fall off quite easily - pizza was still generally decent though. The most interesting part of this restaurant is that there is Maradona and Italy themed decor all over the place, which certainly suggests it is a very authentic and proud Italian restaurant. The staff even have shirts that say Maradona on the back. All this decor makes for a pretty nice and fun environment, coupled with the dimmed lighting for a bit of a more intimate feel, signaling that this is most definitely a proper sit-down restaurant and not just something like a sports bar. Another interesting point is that there is another Song E Napule just a few doors down on the same block - don't ask me why or how that happened. However, the other one is way noisier with loud music playing, while this one is at a far more comfortable volume level (so I prefer this one). The staff here are average friendliness. The service speed is pretty quick. Overall, if you are looking for quality pizza and pasta in a more interesting environment, then Song E Napule would be a good choice for you. read more

This place ranked 36th on "50 Top Pizza Worldwide" list, an Italian compilation of the best Italian style pizzas. I think the pizza was good, not great, and would say that there are Neapolitan style pizza places that didn't make that list elsewhere in the city that I felt were just as good if not better. Overall a bit underwhelmed, but here's what to get and what to avoid: ***DIAVOLO - really good, leans on the salty side, slices of meat decorate a nicely tangy tomato sauce and pools of stretchy white cheese. Fluffy crust, and would recommend PORCINI PIE - please skip this. The mushrooms were very wet and tasted like canned mushrooms, lacked robust flavor, and the truffle was very weak if nonexistent. The issue with truffle is that many restaurants will use truffle extract which results in a less robust truffle flavor - I suspect this may be the case here. CACIO E PEPE GNOCCHI - great idea, and love a cacio e pepe moment. Will say that it could have been pepperier, but was creamy, and the gnocchi was al dente and fresh, a bit runny at times on the inside, but is filled with the cacio e pepe sauce inside which is a cool deviation from tradition gnocchi. I liked this but it wasn't mindblowing. Vibes - intimate and cozy and feels like it was taken right out of a small town in Italy.
