Fantastic. Came here based on a recommendation from someone that sells pizza ovens, and the pizza here definitely doesn't disappoint. It's a small and bustling restaurant, where you have to walk thru the kitchen to get to the bathroom (which looks like it doubles as a locker for the staff). That said, the bathroom is clean and well stocked. The tables are incredibly close together. We did get moved to a more comfortable table though we did subsequently offer to move again to allow them to seat a table of 5 together, but that group sat outside in the end. I was happy to suffer through all of that given the strength of the recommendation. We arrived 20 minutes early (already ravenous, and we were basically kicked out of Crate and Barrel as they closed early for Easter) but they accommodated us quickly too. Much appreciated. Pizza is amazing. Went with the 16inch pie with sausage and mushroom and it was great. The pizza dough is delicious. I'm normally not one to eat too much of the crust but the quality of it meant I didn't want to waste any of it. The fettuccine bolognese is good too, flavorful without being too salty. Grilled calamari is almost an entree on its own, coming with grilled zucchini and eggplant on a bed of arugula. Toss in a glass of Chianti and that's a proper meal for two, with leftovers. We'll have to come back another time to try their desserts. Spoke with the host on the way out and learned that they're moving down the block for a larger space soon. Also, the passion and pride he had for the food and restaurant was obvious. Definitely worth a visit. Make a reservation for sure as it's quite popular. My friend and I were in the heated outdoor patio, and we were grateful for being seated in a quieter area because the ambience rapidly turned into what I imagine a college frat party resembles. There were multiple very large groups when we went, resulting in a very chaotic atmosphere. Impressively, the staff did an incredible job with quick service. I had a pizza Napoletana, while my friend had the calzone. It was my first time having a pizza Napoletana. The crust was fluffy, bubbly and beautifully charred. The undercarriage was not particularly well done due to the high water content in the dough, so this is a pizza that needed to be cut with fork and knife under the weight of the toppings. The anchovies had a great salty contrast to the sweetness of the San Marzano tomatoes, but I do wish there was more basil. Overall, Song' E Napule has some really solid Neapolitan style pizza that left me feeling full and content. The prices are justifiable given the high quality ingredients and freshness. Were told we would have a bit more than an hour before a reservation walked in. Nomz: We started off with the recommended eggplant as a starter (Parmigiana Di Melanzane). It was good but there wasn't much solid-ness in the dish. All melty goodness, so if you prefer more structure then I don't recommend. We had the Diavola pizza, I love spice so it was delicousness. There's not much of an ambiance and the place is small but I personally found the servers to be accommodating and friendly despite it being dinner rush hour. The burrata with prosciutto was fresh but nothing to write home about. We got the white pizza, Tartufata, and man, it was heavenly. I was transported to Italy on an otherwise uneventful Tuesday evening. It was a simple but charming place: tables & chairs cramped together in the tiny interior, spilling out into outdoor seating. Waiters squeezed by each other to get to the kitchen & everyone steamed in their seats as the tiny mounted corner fan tried to accomplish even 5% of what an actual AC could. I lost my squid ink pasta virginity in the form of the FETTUCCINE NERE CON GAMBERI. It was a pleasant experience, especially for my first time. The shrimp were abundant & flavorful and I could detect a distant ocean wave in each noodle. Will need to add more to my dataset of squid ink flavor profile but the day's flavor reminded me of tomatoes (probably came from the dish's tomatoes). We tried 3 different types of pizza (Margherita, mushroom and sausage and a white pizza with truffle oil). All were well above average but Margherita was my preference. The dough is fluffy and airy. Relative to other types of thin crust pizza this leans doughier. Some notes: reservations are accepted and a good idea. It's time for an update, since the original location on W Houston St. is now shuttered and we had to move down the block to the new location. It's equally evocative of Naples, larger, and with an expanded menu. The pizzas are still delicious - maybe the most authentic Naples style in NYC. But the atmosphere is punishingly loud and frenetic, and this is not exactly cheap eats. Be prepared for VERY LOUD music, people singing, people dancing, servers bumping you, etc. It's all in good fun, but if you are looking for a quiet conversation with your dining companion, you won't find it here. I hear they have a DJ on weekends (!). Add a star if you miss Italy and want to hear Italian spoken by half of the patrons in the dining room. I had been recommended to try this place, so we made a reservation for a Friday evening just a few days before. The place is small, so I would recommend making a reservation if you get the chance! Only thing of note is that they actually only seem to hold reservations for small parties for 1 hour, and this is noted when you make the reservation - we were curious if they would stick to this and, sure enough, the server came around to let us know the next party was arriving after 1 hour. I thought that was ok though, since the food came out super quickly and we were done with our meal by then. We ordered a pizza and a pasta to try both as a group I thought that the pizza was super tasty - I loved the thin crust and the generous amount of cheese and tomato sauce that came along with the toppings! It had just come out of the oven and you can taste the crispness and freshness of it! Compared to the pizza, the pasta was less exciting - it was good, but I would definitely recommend ordering the pizza if you are deciding between the two. The closest we've found to spot-on traditional Napoli pizza in New York! Pizzas could not be more fresh -- on the way to the bathroom, you'll walk right past the oven and get a closeup view of the fresh dough . Crust is pillowy, chewy and paper thin with delicious toppings. We tried a couple white pizzas and one red and the whites were the winners -- the tartufato in particular, which has just the right amount of truffle flavor (not overpowering) draped with slices of high quality prosciutto. Red pizza had a homemade sauce that tasted garden fresh though the simple margherita was better than others with more toppings which became a bit mushy under their weight. Aside from pizza, the meatball appetizer is a standout -- meatballs so moist they fall apart, with a sauce so addictive we were licking the remainder with our fingers. The linguini Nero w shrimp was also a winner, again with a sauce chock full of fresh tomatoes and plenty of perfectly cooked rock shrimp. All in all, a surprise gem amid a very touristy stretch of Houston with hit or or miss restaurants -- Song e Napule is definitely a hit. read more

Recommended by an NYC local. The pizzas had a very thin and slightly chewy texture that I love. The toppings were fresh and not overpowering and definitely not drowning in cheese like American pizzas. My parents loved the squid ink pasta with shrimp. The owner was super nice and tentative. The store itself is tiny with maybe 4 tables inside and a couple tables outside. The only mishap was that their air conditioning broke down when we were there. One of our favorite Italian eateries in NYC. We came for the pizza but found so many amazing Italian specialties. We loved everything!

We lucked out getting a table here without a reservation. Our visit to NYC was to meet up with some Italian friends we met while living in Milan. One of them selected this restaurant for dinner and Wow! I am so glad he did! First off, this is NYC, so there is no parking. Hop on the subway and take a walk through Greenwich Village. You'll love it. Next up, the restaurant is tiny. I mean like room for a dozen people (?) tiny and that's sitting with your back against your neighbor more of less. They do check vaccination cards here, so it's all good. Right? The tables and chairs are like you are dining al fresco, not a fine dining experience, casual. Third, scan the QR code at your table to read their menu. The waiter will let you know about daily dining and happy hour specials. An lastly, the single restroom a.k.a. employee locker room, is behind the tiny kitchen and on your left, across from the dish washer station. The kitchen staff are super accommodating when you need to get by so no worries there. Speaking of the tiny kitchen, about a quarter of the kitchen is taken up by the pizza oven, and the space is entirely open to the dining area. Like your mom's kitchen, you are sitting to the side of where they make all that delicious food. How they manage to get it all done in there is anyone's guess, but you can easily watch them as they work. Beer and wine from Italy is on offer and the space is decorated with Italian sports memorabilia, religious icons, and my favorite, several of the shirts are hung overhead as if drying on clothes lines over the street in a Naples neighborhood. For anyone who has walked through a Naples neighborhood, you know exactly what I mean! One of our friends ordered the gluten free pasta with his choice of available sauces off the menu. The gluten free pasta is made when ordered and takes a bit longer than other meals, so he ordered first while the rest of us were still making up our minds. All the meals were delivered as prepared and though they were delivered one after the other, each of us received our meals one at a time. Start eating when you receive your dish. If you dine in Italy, it's customary to eat when served, while your food is hot, not wait for everyone to get their dish. With a kitchen this small, that's the only way they can get the food out. It's all part of the authenticity. For those who wonder how this pasta went over with a man who is born, raised, and currently lives in Italy: "it's as good as my Nonna's". For real people. That describes our meal. The carpaccio was perfect, the pizza had that wonderful 'pizza oven crust': nice brown hue on the outside and delicately soft on the inside. I was so excited about that crust and the sauce is San Marzano tomato. Everything 'as it should be'. It's a small space, it can get a bit loud, all of the staff work together and just make the whole thing work. If you have been searching for an Italian restaurant in America that comes close to your food experience in Italy (Naples in this case) then you have got to give this restaurant a try. read more

Possibly one of the strangest experiences I've ever had in the name of authenticity at a restaurant. I stopped by for lunch with some friends. I had met up with them early and hadn't had a chance to grab anything at all and all I wanted was a coffee. We were sat down and I tried to order a coffee to start and was promptly told I could not have one! Which was very bizarre. The waiter insisted that he couldn't serve it to me because it would ruin my palette for the pizza. I told him I understood where he was coming from but I just really wanted a coffee. Again he would not let me order any coffee. I didn't even end up ordering pizza. Although the rest of the table did and they said it was good. Finally about an hour later after everyone had eaten, the waiter finally let me order the coffee I had just wanted from the start. I realize authenticity is important but I just did not leave the restaurant feeling great so not the best experience in my book. read more

I personally prefer my pies with tomato sauce, which they do very well, and therefore my favorite pizza is the simple but delicious Margarita. However, if I do change it up, the Primavera, Diavola, and Porcini are all top notch. Like I said, there is no bad choice here. As for the pastas, they are all freshly made in house. Their Black Squid Ink Linguine with Shrimp and Cherry Tomato is always my go to pasta, but the Spaghetti with Clams is definitely a close second. Rigatoni with Veal Ragu and Ricotta is delicious too. There is just so much flavor in all their sauces, nothing can possibly taste bad. Finally, the reason why I come often is because of the fantastic service. The staff is always smiling and friendly as can be. I have received free desserts on many occasions from the owner. Have to admit I am a very big fan of authentic Neapolitan pizza (and Neapolitans) so obviously when I walked past Song I had to sit down and try some. Even though our servers were very pleasant we did not encounter what we recognize as the typical Neapolitan hospitality and charm. Had the Burrata Pizza which was good but (in my opinion) had far too much arugla (not even listed as an ingredient on menu) and shaved Parmigiano Reggiano and nowhere near enough cherry tomatos and basil. Tiramisu was totally bland and tasteless but americano coffee was very good. Will I return? Probably not especially when I can get my fix at Puppatellas:) read more

It's hard to give an artisan pizza shop in New York City five stars. That said, how could you give them any less? The seating is quaint and tight, and I can imagine that on busy days the place is packed. The beer selection is limited, but what they have I like. The bottled water is great but the water everywhere in New York is great. The buffalo pizza I ordered was a margarita style pizza with fresh buffalo cheese, that was perfectly cooked. The dough has just the right chew and just the right balance of sweet and savory. The sauce is a bit acidic, which plays well to the cheese and dough. The star of the show though was the potato croquette with the smoked Gouda center, that is breaded and fried. That may very well be the best eight dollars I've ever spent in a restaurant in my life. I hadn't intended to order it, but when I saw it on a neighboring table, I couldn't resist. That was a good decision! The smoked Gouda makes it taste like there's bacon in there. I also believe there was a bit of chive seasoning to go with the perfectly creamy mashed potatoes, all rolled in Italian breadcrumbs and fried.
