food (4/5) - came here with a party that prefers less spice so rating only foods we could eat. had fried dumplings (wasn't aware it would come out in a steamer like dimsum), duck spring rolls, both of the above with plum sauce. both were decent, warm and spring roll was fresh and crunchy. had duck noodles, a dry noodle dish. sauce was light and vegetables were on the crunchy side, so it didn't soak up the sauce much. also had the karee curry, a dairy curry with shrimp. there were probably 6 large shrimp for the whole dish. the sauce was eggy and flavourful, and went very well with the rice. service (3/5) - prompt and checked in many times. asked for our order really quickly, and put in an additional duck roll even though we didn't order that, and didn't try to rectify it / just asked 'is that ok'. ambiance (3/5) - really roomy and well decorated, good mix of local thai / east asian decor with reds and oranges, music was very poppy. as the night went on it got really loud even on a tuesday so it was hard to talk at times. price (3/5) - bill came out to 100 for two people for 2 starters and 2 mains. average / a little pricey for the area but seems applicable for the quality. read more

I'm going to review this without looking at other reviews. The first couple days of any restaurant opening, especially a location as large as this one will have a couple hiccups - and frankly their team did a fantastic job from what I observed. Our server Cheer did a great job managing not only our table but countless other tables simultaneously. The food came out freshly cooked just minutes after ordering so the back of house is doing a phenomenal job as well. We did arrive prior to their 3:30pm closing where they let you eat but the staff switch around - that is very understandable in a smaller restaurant and must be a little hard to manage at a larger restaurant. The aesthetic and ambiance are pretty cool, with ceramic tiling ont he walls, blue glasses, really pretty plates, and a generally nice atmosphere. The random tree in the back is kind of an interesting choice but the rest of the place is really nice! The food was delicious - I highly recommend the Moo Dang puffs. Their food tends on the saucier side with lots of flavor so do keep that in mind when going. It's a great place to bring parents when visiting, or to hang out with friends in the afternoon. read more

If you've been to Soothr's location in Manhattan, you'll find the same amazing vibes here. The food is excellent. Although there are menu items stated to be "exclusive to the LIC location," we went with some classics. We started with Hat Yai chicken and Jeeb dumplings which were very tasty with mild flavors. For the mains we enjoyed Karee Pu noodles (very savory and rich) and the Panang Duck Lychee Curry. The curry was my favorite dish of the night with wonderful spicy and sweet flavors. The service is prompt and friendly--I think we waited less than a minute to be seated. The space is much more grand and impressive than the Manhattan location, if a little louder and less cozy. Living in the neighborhood I am so glad to have Soothr as a neighbor! read more

Stopped here on a Saturday night around 9 without a res. The place looked inviting and happening. We were seated immoderately by a lovely hostess. We had amazing drinks. Earlier in the evening we went to a speakeasy, I ordered the same drink here and Soothr made the drink much better!!! We shared an amazing eggplant appetizer and a very delicious fish. Our server was lovely I think his name was Mew or Mau or something like that. I only wish they had champagne by glass and more dessert selections. I will certainly be back! read more

A great version of the Manhattan favorite. This restaurant is big but don't let that fool you- reservations are needed! It's very popular. My favorite dishes were the masamun curry, Tao Hu Prik Gluer (tofu, an LIC exclusive), and shrimp donuts. I also liked the Ma - Kuer Yao (eggplant- nothing to write home about, but I love eggplant so it did the job). I didn't love the chive cakes or much of the LIC exclusive menu. The restaurant was very busy, so I would recommend reserving a table before heading over. We ordered the crab fried rice and the green curry beef. They were both delicious although prices are quite pricey! It's definitely worth trying and a good option if you're craving Thai in the area, but prices are definitely on the higher end. read more

I visited this fairly new LIC location after hearing a lot of great things--especially since their Manhattan spot has such a strong reputation. It was my first time trying the LIC branch, and I went with a group of friends so we could sample a variety of dishes. Unfortunately, the food fell a bit short for me. The overall style felt very modernized, and I found it lacked some of the authenticity in the flavors that I was hoping for. A big issue for me was the inconsistency across the dishes: several were noticeably salty, some were unexpectedly very spicy, and others weren't spicy at all. It felt like the seasoning and flavor profiles weren't quite balanced or aligned. My top three dishes were the Tom Yum Seafood Hotpot, the Shrimp Donut, and the Panang Duck Lychee Curry. Overall, while the menu has potential and there were a few memorable dishes, the experience didn't quite meet my expectations this time around. I'm hoping the LIC location finds its footing with more consistency as it settles in. Not to mentioned everything is fairly overpriced ! read more

I spoke to the manager already. Cut the BS. These people know exactly who I am and I will continue to post this on yelp and google: Terrible service at the bar. I sat there for 10 mins in front of 3 bartenders (NOT 2) and not a single one acknowledged me, told me they would take my order soon or even gave a glass of water. Disgusting service. While the restaurant itself is beautiful and most of the dishes we ordered were good, it's quite pricey--especially considering there are equally strong Thai options in neighborhoods like Elmhurst. The main reason I'm writing this review, though, is about the service. We were a party of seven, including a toddler who became a bit fussy toward the end of the meal. To be fair, he was making some noise--but the restaurant itself is already fairly loud and buzzy. When we tried to order dessert, our waiter told us there was "a dessert place down the street, Spot Dessert Bar, also Thai-owned." The comment felt odd and, frankly, like we were being encouraged to leave. Shortly after, he returned to say the toddler was being too loud, which led his mother to take him outside while we waited for our dessert (thank god they allowed us to order some! :| ). I understand that the noise was occasionally disruptive, but if a restaurant provides high chairs, it signals that families are welcome--and young children can get restless. Given that we spent close to $600 for our party, the situation could have been handled with more tact and courtesy. We started the evening satisfied but ultimately left disappointed. The duck roll was excellent , crispy, flavorful, and fast to the table. The beef curry dish, noodles and fish were all good. I'd probably skip the cocktails next time - it's more me since I am not a fan of bougie cocktails but thought I would try it. Huge shoutout to the staff for next-level attentiveness. We celebrated my friend's surprise 30th birthday at Soothr and it definitely did not disappoint. Our party was scheduled to arrive prioe to 1pm, with the celbrant arriving by 1. The staff let a few of us come prior to 12pm to begin setting up with decorations. From the moment we arrived the staff was kind, accommodating, and hospitable, particularly Tan Wang (my apologies if I misspelled her name) and Cheer. They provided us with materials and supplies we needed to make the event special. This was not only upon our arrival but throughout our stay, which passed 3:30pm, their closing time in preparation for dinner. The food was more than we expected and although we had ordered family style from a pre-fixed menu for 22 people, there was an abundant amount of food to take home. We selected the menu that consisted primarily of seafood, and they customized a menu with our friend's name and birthdat to memorialize her special day. I would highly recommend hosting a party here. It was a semi-private room, but that was not a deal-breaker for us. read more

Not good for dietary restrictions - they don't allow substitutions of any kind in their dishes (not even swapping one meat for another). I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt and assumed this just meant they had their dishes pre-made (which is also kind of disappointing), but in our party of 6 there was a difference of more than 30 minutes from when the first dish arrived to when the last dish arrived. My friends who got theirs first could have completely finished their meal by the time the last arrived, but they tried to be polite and their food got cold. The food was just average, and not at all worth the hassle. Absolutely bizarre and avoideable experience, yet the waiter offered no apology or explanation. None of us will plan to go back. read more

My first experience here, the day of their soft opening, was quite a positive one. However, the few times I've gone back, it has only been downhill from there. The past three times, I have requested a small modification to my dish because of allergies, and every single time it has come out incorrectly. The times I've ordered to-go or online, the same issue. I've had to throw away entire dishes multiple times. The service has also been very poor. Tonight, we were overcharged for multiple drinks. The waitress also kept trying to encourage our table to order more food, so it's clear she was looking to hike up our bill to get a bigger tip for herself or find some other way to profit off of it. This wasn't our experience the first night, including portion sizes and food quality. We were treated well and given huge portions. The past few times, the entree plates have gone from that to the size of appetizers. Given how consistently bad things have been since it's clear we just got lucky that first night and this is the true quality and experience. read more
