Very poor customer service! Been there twice and was disappointed both times with how rude the people were there Especially the regular guy who works there in the mornings. Today I sent someone to grab food for a company event from there and she came back in a bad mood telling me that they made her feel stupid. I didn't know this cafe until I visited the BSA Space next to it another day. I passed by this modern, white, clean looking cafe and really wanted to give it a try. My visited Sorelle the first time in an afternoon, and was in a mood of having some snack before dinner. So i went into Sorelle and saw lots of pastry in front of me. Im such a fan of scone, but i didn't end up getting one because i saw something even more attractive, the flourless chocolate cake. I have to say it was very good! I have a pretty sweet tooth but I don't like when desserts are too sweet. Their flourless chocolate cake was not too sweet and not too bitter; however, it could be a bit heavy and overwhelmed after having half of it. I stopped after eating half of it cuz its a bit too rich for me, and saved the rest for the next day. But overall its a very good dessert and i enjoyed it a lot. Another day i visited Sorelle again and my friends and I planned to have lunch there after the good first time impression. I had a turkey cranberry sandwich on wheat toasts, and shared a lemon bar with my friends. The sandwich is good; there was a think layer of turkey and the cranberry sauce makes the sandwich very light but flavorful. One only down side about the cranberry sauce is that it made the toast a bit soggy, which wasn't that clean to eat. But I felt quite satisfied after eating half of the sandwich due to the amount of turkey they put in it. The lemon bar is good too! Like the flourless chocolate cake, it wasn't too sweet. The sourness from the lemon was a very good ending flavor to our meal. In general, it is a cafe i would revisit again. The staffs are friendly and the dining environment is very comfortable and relaxing, they also have moderate amount of sandwich and beverage choices. In my next visit, I think i will try their scone and see if i like it or not. read more

Disappointed. Stopped in for a quick breakfast before visiting the Boston Tea Party ship. They were completely our of all breakfast foods. No bagels, baked goods, etc. she made us a sandwich on white bread which was nice but not the same. After seeing all the great reviews about the breakfast food it was a bit of a letdown. Writing this review because it deserves more than 3 stars. Definitely a top cafe in Boston Noise level is Quiet to Average--a good place to read or to speak with a friend (it gets loud at lunch though). The food is delicious. A few dollars more expensive than the competition, but I feel as though it is money well spent for the cleanliness and ambiance. Certainly has the look, taste, and feel of a modern cafe. The oatmeal is great. Great diversity in bagel sandwiches. I enjoyed my sandwich as well. No complaints and not sure why people had such poor reviews. It is well worth a visit. read more

I just can't understand a place that runs out of bagels at 9:30/10am, hence the two stars. For the area that they are located in, you would think they would be properly stocked. On a positive note, the staff is always incredibly nice, the cookies, if they are fresh are never a miss, and the when in doubt the diet cokes are always in season in the beverage cooler. read more

Walked in yesterday, was an older couple finishing their meal, and one patron in front of me, immediately noticed the man working was kinda terse with the patron I'm front, I get it, nobody enjoys work necessarily, but I found the patron in front, a woman maybe around my parents age was happy and polite, said thank you and left a tip after she finished, I was next up and the only one in line at this moment and had been fine waiting for 5-10 as they finished because again I get it, it's one person working and one person can only do so much, but after she walks away and I'm up next, I move forward and he cared nothing more than reprint the receipt of the last patron to check her tip, he sighs and exhales upset and makes a face, now still only one here, and I am younger, 23 and I look it maybe younger (baby face) he walks away from me and then the older couple gets up and walks over, he immediately come to the counter and doesn't address me( I'm hard to ignore, I'm 6'5") and so just as surprised the older woman asks him to wrap her food, he immediately does and then again upset by the tip, now I have 3 people behind me, I walked out and simply let everyone know he won't serve me or them if they aren't gonna tip him exorbitantly for punching in an order and literally getting it over with as possible and I leave and others do too, I am human, I've worked jobs I hate and worked service industry all my life to pay for school, I made it all the way to just finishing my PhD last week and am celebrating buying a place near seaport, I have money to tip, I always tip well because I know what it's like, but never was I rude to anyone regardless of age or how they looked, I never expected anything and assumed nothing, I always tried to offer service to accommodate and make a tip "worth it" in the eyes of the patron or that I'd earned it, I've never had anyone so entitled in my life and blatantly disrespectful, never gonna be back, I'll pay 5$ everytime for a generic Starbucks than deal with this, shame too, It would've been the closest coffee shop near my new home, but I'm not going somewhere I'm not welcome read more

I have had experiences at this place so lousy that I am inspired to write my first Yelp review. My review is not reflective of the fact that the place is new and is still working out the kinks. My review is reflective of the fact that I think this place is just lousy. I work in the building where Sorelle is located, and considering this is the first eatery in the building since it opened in January, I was pretty excited. However, that excitement was tempered by the fact that I am a Charlestown resident and have eaten at Sorelle before. My prior experience is that the baked goods all look great but taste like cardboard, and no matter how empty the place is it always takes forever to get your order (whether it be a sandwich or a cappuccino). My first time at this new Sorelle location, I ordered an egg sandwich. You can only get it on a bagel, which I was a bit bummed about, but I was okay with it. Now, I am accustomed to downtown breakfast places that actually give you a freshly cooked egg on the sandwich. Let me tell you my dismay when I saw the food preparer reach into a bin and pull out what looked like (and eventually tasted like) a preformed block of yellow rubber. Said block was then microwaved and inserted into my sandwich. It tasted as bad as it looked. If I want a precooked egg patty, I can go to Dunkin for half the price. The next day I decided to give them another shot, and ordered their steel cut oats. I thought $4.00 was a little pricey for oatmeal, but I like steel cut oats and was willing to pay up. Again, when I order to-go oatmeal at a breakfast cafe I am accustomed to getting fresh, hot oatmeal. Instead they reached into the fridge and placed a container in the microwave. Okay, I guess I can deal with that. Then they take the container out and it is brown/burnt looking on the outside. Thinking nothing of it, I walked back to my office. I noticed that the container smelled odd, and that was from the burnt paper container. And when I opened it, it only got worse. The "oatmeal" looked like thick, curdled milk with some brown bits it it. It looked nothing like oatmeal. It was so repulsive that I actually considered going back and returning it. It wasn't worth my time, so I just tossed it. I have also ordered a to-go salad there, which was pricey but adequate. I have tried their coffee which is a little bitter for my taste but okay. The chocolate chip cookie I ordered tasted like wet cardboard with cheese (yes, seriously). Is it really possible to ruin a cookie? Like I said, the place is brand new but the servers seem absolutely clueless. It's a bunch of people running around behind the counter, and they don't appear to have had much training, or care about what they are doing. Example-- received this email earlier today from a friend who visited Sorelle. And I quote: ------------------ Everything you said about the breakfast sandwich is true and the service was so bad. While I tried to give them the benefit of opening day jitters, it was comical. I ordered (and got) the same awful sandwich, but I can't tell you how many times I had to give the order. Every time she asked I repeated "egg and cheese sandwich on whole wheat bagel." Her: "Now, what was that on again?" Me: "Whole wheat - egg and cheese sandwich on a whole wheat bagel" Her: "Whole wheat bagel plain?" Me: "No, egg and cheese, like it says on the board, - egg and cheese sandwich on whole wheat bagel" (Really, it was one of their items on the menu, not my morning fancy!) Her: "So a plain bagel?" Me: "No, egg and cheese sandwich on whole wheat bagel" Her: "We don't have that - there is no button for it on the register." (Someone stepped in to show her that it was.) Her: "And a coffee" Me: "No, just the egg and cheese sandwich on whole wheat bagel." ------------------------ See? It's not just me. So, not a bad place to grab a cup of coffee if you don't want to leave the building because it is raining outside, but otherwise I would avoid it. read more

To start, I literally downloaded this app just to write this review. We get there 2 minutes before it opens. The door is unlocked, it's empty, we're cold. The woman working inside says something to us, so we open the door to hear her and she looks offended. "We're closed" she repeats like 3 times. Now I have nothing wrong with honoring your hours, but if it opens at 8 and it's literally 2 damn minutes before you open and it's cold and windy, the smart thing to do would be to welcome us inside and let us wait there, or if you had a heart serve us BEFORE 8! After that experience, we wandered the city for half an hour looking for food. Even though Sorelle was one of the only open breakfast places in the city, we were determined not to give them our money. I can't speak to the food, but the service and hospitality is pretty trash. read more

I stopped in with my friends while on a Seeing Eye puppy raiser trip. We had about an hour to spare before we had to get back on the bus and I am BEYOND happy that we stopped into Sorelle!! First off, I love the interior. The shop has a light, airy, and industrial feel; a balance that can be difficult to pull off. I scooped up a brownie and tri-berry something (I think it was a muffin?? Forgive me, I'm far too caught up in the sheer splendor of the thing), while my mother opted for a poppyseed bagel with veggie cream cheese. Now listen folks.... I am BY NO MEANS a bagel person but this. THIS. was something special. I often find that bagels are way too dense but this bagel was a little light, a little toasted, and probably made with a little bit of heaven! So glad we stumbled in!! read more

So I've been to Sorelle several times now, and after this visit felt the need to finally leave a review. I get in and after waiting in no line being ignored for several minutes someone behind the counter finally asks me if I needed help. Giving a sense of attitude through my entire ordering process and not answering the one question I did ask, I finally finish with the total coming to an amount that is far more that a reasonable rate for a box lunch that doesn't include a drink. Honestly if you're looking for a good value for lunch, go across the bridge to Sportello and get a proper box lunch. It's worth the walk and a much more pleasant experience. read more

I also ordered cookies to go with a side of attitude from the cashier. I'll gladly make sure to walk past this place in the future. 3.5 stars. This place is what i would refer to as average. It's not amazing but it definitely isn't bad and i think some of the reviews may be a bit harsh. I've come here on many occasions for a quick lunch and the sandwiches have been good (again not amazing but fine for lunch). I've gotten many different items off their menu and not sure i disliked anything. They have a lot of options, stock almond milk and are pretty quick when it isn't crazy busy. Don't expect some sort of great service, it's a get in and get out type of coffee shop, just set your expectations and it will be fine. read more

This past Monday was my second visit to Sorelle. It's in a great location and the ambiance is wonderful but it stops there. I ordered the Prosciutto Panini, excited for trying out their pressed sandwich. However I should have trusted my instincts to not eat the sandwich since the panini had a foul smell to it. Afterwards I felt fine but when I went home that evening, I spent most of the evening in the loo. As others have mentioned, this place may be pretty on the outside but be wary of whether or not what you're getting is fresh. No longer a fan of this place and so not coming back. read more

I am amazed Sorelle managed to get the 3.5 stars it has, I am not a frequent Yelp reviewer, but I am hoping that management will get the hint. I, like other reviewers, work in the building and I will only go here out of absolute necessity or because I think "it can't be as bad as I remember." Surely enough, every time is terrible! The only saving grace I have found is the bagel, which is not good, but is not as terrible as everything else they serve. The coffee tastes like swill, the pastries look decent but are bland and dry, the sandwiches and salads are nothing to write home about, and you can only guess how long the deserts that look like they are covered in shellac have been there. There are yogurt items in the refrigerator case that aren't bad, but you will pay around $7 for a yogurt parfait that is basically vanilla yogurt, a few berries, and a broken up nature's valley granola bar. If anyone in management actually reads the reviews here, I beg of you, please improve your ingredients! You have a captive audience with the office building upstairs and if your products were improved your profits would not be hurt. Until then I will continue to walk to one of the many other coffee/lunch spots that actually cares about quality, I recommend Flour, Barrington, or Pret a Manger. read more

I've been to the Sorelle in the City Square location with a friend, and I was excited that there's now one downtown, closer to where I live. The place is clean, modern, and sleek. And I think the prices are much more reasonable than some other cafes in the area. Everything here looks so good! I got a latte and a chocolate croissant, both of which were excellent. When I asked to have the croissant zapped a little to make it warm, they were friendly and did it for me. I've only had one of their sandwiches so far, but it was simply amazing! It's called the cubano, a panini with pork, ham, swiss, pickles, mayo and mustard. So good! I will definitely be coming back here! read more

The problem was the owner, a 60-ish man who was loudly and continuously berating the poor people behind the counter the entire time I waited to get my order. It was extremely distasteful, and the man was dressed like a slob to boot. Is this the way to instill professionalism and a cheerful work ethic in your employees? Not likely. This was my first visit to this cafe. The espresso I had in my opinion wasn't best. It wasn't the worst espresso I've ever had, but it wasn't something you would go out of your way for and would pass up if there were a better cafe close by. The staff was a bit unfocused. They chatted amongst themselves concerning personal matters right in front of customers. A customer was never left waiting however. I blame this behavior on poor leadership. Do yourself a favor, pass this place up. Continue to walk into Southie and go to Flour Bakery. I didn't try any pastries from Sorelle, so I have no comment on that. Since Sorelle opened I've been about a dozen times as a last resort when the weather or my work load prevent me from leaving the building. I have to say, the staff seems more on-point than when they opened, and I've discovered that despite their disappointing sandwiches and pastries, Sorelle's individual pizzas are a hidden gem. They rotate combinations of toppings like spinach, mushrooms, ricotta, bacon, chicken, sausage and eggplant for the special pizza of the day and I've had some pretty tasty combos. Though I doubt they're made in house, for $5 it's a bargain. So why, you may ask, have I not improved my rating more than one star? Today, as I waited for my pizza, I felt bad for the cashier who was visibly not feeling well...until she started coughing loudly without covering her mouth. She was standing right next to the uncovered food laid out as daily specials. YIKES! Lady, don't you know people have been DYING from the flu this year!? Perhaps this is why everyone in our office has been so sick -- consider me officially turned off. read more

I live (and work) in the neighborhood and its our go-to for a quick weekend breakfast, lunch or an afternoon treat. Plus since Flour is mobbed by the children's museum crowd on the weekends, Sorelle is a superior alternative. The food is more sophisticated and you don't have to stand in line for 20 minutes. What an adorable space! Absolutely love the modern decor and architecture that is Sorelle and to boot the day was gorgeous so the rays of sunshine sparkled the place. I ordered the salmon sandwich however they unfortunately ran out of 7 grain bread by the time I ordered so get there before 1pm. The woman at the register lacked enthusiasm but that did not affect the sandwich quality. Delicious and I've been thinking about the next time that I can go. They take cards which is a plus and I only waited a few minutes for my sammwich. Sorelle is a keeper in my book. read more

I ordered catering from here for my office (~30 people) this week and it was a huge success. The Fig prosciutto and goat cheese sandwich and the Caprese Panini were the biggest hits and the Turkey Cheddar Cranberry was popular as well. One of my co-workers actually said that the Caprese panini was the best panini she has ever had. The Southwestern Chicken and Lemon Rosemary Chicken were left over in abundance and I may try different options in their place next time. Mark, the owner, took care of my order and he was very helpful, suggesting popular sandwiches and very agreeable to any of my needs including delivering later than their usual lunch deliveries. This would be an easy four star for me...aw, shucks, I was gonna give a three except for one big thing that nearly resulted in minus 1-star...they almost never have any bread left after, say, 3 or 4 pm, which is really, really %^$#@ ridiculous for a...sandwich shop. I get that they want to serve fresh, and don't want to be stuck with too much leftover bread, but...not everyone only eats a sandwich between say noon and 2. That said, this is a nice location, clean, fine service, quick...have really liked the pressed caprese panini, the breakfast potato/spinach/egg roll-up, a very nice havarti/egg/tomatoe breakfat bagel sandwich... even the oatmeal is good. Excellent, strong coffee...a nice mix of soup of the day,salads, wraps, pressed, sweets for the sweet. Just wish you could have some sandwich bread after the lunchtime rush, but a good spot nonetheless. read more
