What a hidden gem! Just discovered this place yesterday and their food is delicious. I had Thai curry soup and a Gouda grilled sandwich. So yummy and I love that they have soups by the quart to take home. Reasonable prices and good service. My only complaint is the plastic chintzy utensils. Would love real soup spoons! Also don't like to see plastic waste. But love the food!! read more

Great service, food good- appreciated getting iceberg lettuce for salad on request. Soup was good (but broccoli cheese not as excellent as Panera). It's a strip mall vibe and probably caters to the many office park workers nearby. It is clean and the people are very friendly and service is fast. Prices are good. They have many different drink types, including smoothies and others. The Cuban was an ok grilled ham and cheese, but adding a slice of deli ham and 2 pickles to toasted, sliced white bread does not make it much like a cubano, so it was somewhat disappointing. The roasted tomato basil soup was good, but not exceptional. Overall, it is a good place for a quick soup and a grilled cheese. I've wanted to try this place for the longest time as I am a soup fanatic, however after trying I am surprised at all the five star reviews. First off the environment is great and hip. Trendy music and very clean. The workers (I'm assuming the owners as it was a husband wife duo) were friendly enough and seemed to care about my order. I order half of a grilled cheese and tomato basil soup as well as a sugar cookie. It was together $10, so not terrible. However, some critiques. -The grilled cheese was ok, not outstanding. It was unfortunately not dippable into my tomato soup because it did not soak up any soup, maybe the grease I'm not sure. -you are not given any plate or tray to eat on, so your sandwich and soup you are eating on the bare tables. This may not be bad for some but for me it was a bit odd. -the tomato soup was good, but I could get the same quality in a can. Overall you can definitely tell this is a family run business. They seem to care about their restaurant but havent worked out all the exact kinks yet. Not sure again why there are so many reviews raving about this place, it was pretty mediocre in my opinion. read more

The hardest part was deciding what we wanted to eat! Everything looked amazing!! My husband and I had the Chipotle chicken grilled cheese, Turkey bacon club croissant, beef stew and broccoli cheddar soup. Everything we ate was so delicious and flavorful. We also shared a strawberry coconut smoothie with boba. Also delicious!! The staff was very friendly and let us try soup samples upon realizing we'd never eaten there. I've been wanting to try this place since this summer, and what better time to try it than after a walk on the Greenbelt in chilly weather? The restaurant is so professionally laid out and decorated it has almost a franchise feel to it, so I was surprised to find out it was a Mom and pop shop. I ordered the roasted tomato basil soup and Gouda grilled cheese on the recommendation of the friendly and helpful cashier / server. Both were excellent - I especially liked the Gouda grilled cheese which was served on soft bread with fresh grilled julienned red peppers and diced onion, with the perfect amount of cheese running out and caramelized on the grill. On the constructive side, given the price ($12 without a drink) I would have expected a real soup spoon instead of a tiny one wrapped in plastic, and to have my sandwich served on a plate instead of wrapped in butcher paper. read more

Over by my house.. saw it , but never tried until yesterday. I will be back.. only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is my mango /banana smoothie didn't have any banana & boba beads were in it ( even though I requested I didn't want any). But I am now a boba bead lover! Even other places & just didn't like them. The smoothie was delicious & loved the boba... next time try another flavor with the boba I had the jalapeño popper grilled cheese & tomato basil soup. The soup was to die for , & the grilled cheese was just okay. Not grilled enough on one side. Next time, I will try another one of their grilled cheese sandwiches. Would I go back? Absolutely! Even though couple of mistakes, the smoothie was absolutely amazing & the soup was pretty darn good. read more

About two years ago I tried to go once. I went into the place 30 minutes before closing and I was told that I would have to eat in my car-- that didn't sit well with me and it took me all this time to go back, and I have twice now! Food is food. Sure many places are better than others, but the people, the pricing, the ambiance, and did I mention people (yes, I did but it's worth a double mention) is all included in what makes a place good, right??? Well, Soup Kettle Grill (which seems backward to my poor brain) meets the top level of all of my criteria! The owner seems to always be here, you can tell she/they pour their heart and soul (wholeheartedly) into her work-- an amazingly nice woman who wants you to sample her/their works of art! She also makes suggestions, gets to know you, works hard and is overall friendly. The food is really, really tasty. Smallish portions, but just enough to get you satisfied. I recommend eating here and trying it. It's a no-frills, healthy comfort food alternative with super friendly hard-working people to meet. read more

First trip here found on Yelp. I have to say the food was pretty good. I couldn't ever quit get over the in house sit down dining with really low quality bowls for salad and sandwiches wrapped just in paper. Loved the buffalo chicken soup but my salad came out with really cheap and small "to go" bowls and the salad extras came out in small portioned cups. Barely enough to tase. Quality of the ingredients was good, Just not impressed with the salad. Very friendly people but they need to get a little quicker service and present a little better in my opinion. Morning cashier always shows up late. Ive beat him here during open hours multiple times. And then the cook who doesn't speak english is forced to awkwardly try and take the order. It opens at 8am, but whenever I come, the younger guy doesn't show up till 810-815. This is the 2nd time I've had to get out of my car in the drive thru and go inside to ask someone if they are going to acknowledge the fact they have a car in the drivethru. I feel bad for the cook. I work down the road and finally stopped in today! I ordered the Gouda Grilled Cheese and the Creamy Tomato Basil. The staff was SO kind and friendly. They seemed as though they were passionate about what they were doing. The lady taking orders at the register (Lorie) offered the indecisive customer in front of me a sample when asked what to order. She continued by telling her she could try as many as she would like. I liked that they weren't rushing her. For a place that has soup in its name I was a little disappointed. I LOVE tomato soup in all the different ways it comes. I order it every where and probably would not order it from here again. It was very bland and lacking of flavor. Been here a couple times. This place falls under the category of "GOOD EATS!" The sandwiches & soups we have tried have all been great tasting! Have yet to try their salads or smoothies, but I am guessing they are just a good. Great place for a quick bite to eat.
