Came here to grab something before going to the theater. Staff were very pleasant and helpful. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We seated ourselves on the big table and shared with other patrons.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We ordered the Chicken Wrap and it came with shaved fennel, pieces of navel orange, pickled red onion, pea shoots, this traditional Greek cheese they call mizithra cheese, and Granch™ Dressing (Greek & ranch). It was delicious and went very well with their freshly made Greek fries. We'll definitely have to come back and try other items on their menu.

This is my go to salad. It's just so good. Skipped the frozen Greek yogurt today but will be back for the one with baklava crumbles soon! Staff were friendly and courteous.

This place was so good! I ordered the half chicken, side salad, fries , and a frozen yogurt. I split all of this with my kids and there was more than enough food. So much flavor and goodness. I have never had the Greek frozen yogurt before and they let me taste it before I purchased one. I was unable to finish it bc the portion was too big. I would definitely recommend this place!

We came to Souvla on a Monday afternoon for lunch and it was decently busy. I ordered Pork Salad with Greek Fries, and the food came out pretty quickly. The salad is delicious, decent crunch, and adequate sauce. The PORK is seasoned well and not too dry. The fries are seasoned very well as well and had the right amount of crisp. The portion is also appropriate for the price. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Ambiance here is nice, a lot of seating in the restaurant and also outside.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] People here are also very friendly and nice. I will definitely be back to try other dishes on the menu when i'm in the area.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]The place has both indoor and outdoor seating, and there's even counter seating inside, so it feels casual and easy to drop by solo.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I went around 3pm and it happened to be happy hour, so I got to enjoy some wine at a great price. FOOD The seasonal trout sandwich was packed with fresh veggies. The half chicken was nicely roasted and paired really well with the Greek yogurt sauce on the side. The yogurt ice cream wasn't sweet and tasted super refreshing. I chose the cherry syrup, which added a nice sweet and tangy touch--perfect after a meal. The olive and salt combo was a bit on the salty side since there were chunks of salt in it. It might not be the best as a dessert, but surprisingly, it worked pretty well as a dip for fries lol. The yogurt ice cream is perfect for a hot day--I'd definitely like to try other flavors next time!

A must try! My go to is the chicken salad & greek fries - a well balanced meal. You'll see the chickens roasting inside - great flavor & not dry at all. Fries are crispy! Ordered at the counter and worker brought out the food not that long after. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Indoor & outdoor seating available - take advantage of the outdoor seating when it's a nice day out![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Indoor seating looks clean & quite spacious.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Located in a good area.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Just a bummer they don't have that many locations outside of SF.

My sister recommended their ice cream, she said it was different from others because it has the Greek twist. It's basically plain frozen Greek yogurt with baklava crumbles and honey syrup. It's good if you like plain Greek yogurt which can be sour for some people. But it balances out with the honey syrup they use. The baklava crumbles give it a good crunch and different type of topping to this frozen dessert. Worth a try if you're in the area.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Great casual spot in Hayes Valley.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]There's a lot of nice restaurants in the area, but on busy weekends, you might need a reservation for those places - Souvla saves the day by being quick and casual. I've been here many times and there's usually a short wait/line, but it's never too long, so don't let a crowd discourage you. Food comes out pretty fast and the menu is simple enough so that the ordering line also goes by fast. I typically opt for one of the salad options - the pork shoulder salad bowl is my favorite. These salads are huge and filling. I'm not a salad person but these are great and well-worth the price. I also love their frozen yogurt - perfect on a hot day. All of their menu options are sharing-size in my opinion, so if you're a couple, you could easily split a salad plus frozen yogurt and both be satisfied. Overall, love Souvla and this location! Would recommend if you're in the area and need a quick bite.

Just a short walk from the opera house and symphony venue! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Love that is fast service, with a very cozy inside, that doesn't feel like fast food.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]They had some cute festive decor up too.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Don't worry about not having a seat when you order, it clears up quickly. I ordered the side salad, fries, pita, and 2 dipping sauces (harissa-spiked and garlic mint). I do wish the flavors were stronger on the dips, but everything was really so good! My partner ordered the sandwich (I can't remember what meat) and roasted potatoes (they have chicken drippings). He loved both. We also ordered Greek yogurt with baklava crumble. So so good! Sour, but the crumble is the perfect pairing. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Serve was friendly and the restaurant is clean.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Vegetarian options and pet friendly patio![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

I love Souvla! I always get the chicken sandwich with extra granch sauce and the Greek yogurt with honey and baklava pieces! The food is always made fresh to order, fast service, and I never leave disappointed! If you are in the San Francisco area look up Souvla and give it a try! They have sandwiches, salads, fries and at least 3 different protein options as well as vegetarian! I can eat this everyday honestly! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The vibes are off the hook here and you have to check it out for yourself![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I highly recommend this place to everyone!

Genuine question: how is Souvla's frozen greek yogurt so delicious? I am addicted, and it somehow tastes better every time I have it. I've visited several times, and there's always a good amount of people in line or seated. The service is super fast: with the frozen greek yogurt, they prepare it right in front of you. The interior of the store feels warm and welcoming. Even though Souvla is a casual restaurant, the decor feels fancy and polished. The frozen greek yogurt is the perfect dessert. It's a reasonable price, and every cup is always piled with yogurt and toppings. The frozen greek yogurt is not too sweet and has the perfect refreshing tartness. I'm a huge fan of the sour cherry syrup - it complements the sweet and tart greek yogurt perfectly. The baklava crumbles and honey syrup are my absolute favorite toppings. The rich baklava and sweet honey are an outstanding contrast to the sour greek yogurt. I definitely need to try Souvla's other dishes because the frozen greek yogurt impresses me to no end.

Wanted to get a quick bite before a flight and we decided to try Souvla based purely off the prospects of dessert! The Resturant is dimly lit which made it really nice and intimate. We ordered and got our food almost within 7 minutes, which was so great! I tried the chicken gyro with french fries and it was good! The orange inside was a delightfully surprise. Needed a bit more salt, but that is my preference. My friend tried the veggie salad and enjoyed it as well. For dessert, we got the frozen Greek yogurt with crumbles of baklava and the one with olive oil and salt. Both were delicious! The yogurt was the stand out. Definitely worth a try if you have ever wondered about the salt and oil on ice cream flavors combination.

Lamb Sandwich Pork Sandwich Plain Frozen Greek Yogurt (Plain)
    Emily G.

Ordered some sandwiches and baklava Greek froyo for pick up. Everything was ready by promised time. When we ate our meal 20 mins later, the pita wrap was still intact and not soggy. Lamb was not gamey or dry and the yogurt dressing gave the sandwich a nice creaminess. The fries in greek style wrap were crispy. Ingredients in the sandwich were fresh and pita was soft. The Greek yogurt was smooth and not too tart - sweetness from baklava complimented the dessert. Overall portions were good for price and would come back for the same things. Also pretty cool that they have nutritional information posted on their website for each item!

What cooking oil do they use for their meats? I thought it was Olive Oil - but I may be wrong...

That i am not 100% sure on but they are Italians so I would have to say if I were to guess it would be a italian olive oil from Italy and not just a local shelf one. 😉

When will you start offering your frozen yogurts on DoorDash again? I've been checking all week and it's not available and we don't live close enough to come in to pick-up :(

What's a good alternative dressing for the chicken salad? They forgot the yogurt dressing AGAIN on my take-out order.

They use a bit of oil like olive oil (I think).

    Are there any vegan options?

I believe there is a vegetable sandwich or bowl made just like the meat options. Suggest you call.

What is a good time to go, to avoid long lines?

I always order online! It's always done within 5-10 minutes. You can eat your online order there if you wish.

Yes, it's a somewhat expensive dining experience but you are paying for top notch service and great quality food. I am not talking about these cheap midnight specials in Las Vegas. This is type of food where you take your time eating to savor your food to taste the silky texture of the meat or let the sauce soak into the octopus appetizer to soften it and tastes good. I would have ordered a salad but with the health scare of salads recall made me hesitant to order any, although the specials sounded great! You can still cannot go wrong as every dish was great experience and great execution. Love the melted cheeses in appetizer and custard in dessert with pistachio ice cream! The meats really shined as we asked for medium rare and both steak and lamb chops cooked perfectly. Would I go back? , oh yeah and splurge on this place for sure. It just felt special to me. The area itself can be a bit off putting with the number of unhoused individuals nearby, but once you're inside it's a completely different experience. Stephanie was our waitress and she was absolutely amazing. So warm, attentive, and genuinely kind. Her service alone is one of the reasons we continue coming back. Being married into a family that specializes in Mediterranean cuisine, I admit I'm a bit biased. The flavors here lean more Greek inspired, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but I found them to be a little too subtle for my personal taste. I tend to gravitate toward bolder Mediterranean flavors, so I wasn't extremely impressed by the food itself. That being said, I can absolutely understand why this restaurant is so popular. The dishes are approachable, balanced, and refined in a way that I think appeals to the American palate. The food is consistently good every visit. My favorite dish is the octopus, and I also love the biscuit platter from their selection of sweets. Everything tastes fresh and thoughtfully prepared. The restaurant itself is beautiful, although the seating near the entrance can feel a little cramped when it's busy. The vibe is formal casual, if that makes sense. Maybe don't show up in training clothes like I did once, but even then they were nothing but kind and welcoming. Super cute spot and definitely the type of place where the men with trust funds who are somehow 6'5" seem to gather for lunch and after work drinks. Calling ahead for reservations is your best bet.

I would literally never come back here, even if it was free. The only explanation I can think of is that they made our order 2 hours early when we initially placed it, which is not only bad customer service but actually not safe food safety wise and would get them a health violation. All of this and the food was so bad. The meat and chicken were all somehow overcooked and dry like jerky but also colder than room temperature. The fries were soggy and undercooked. Thoughts going through my head "how can this taste so good," "I wasn't expecting this tonight," "this is the most tender gyro meat I've ever had," "how nicely this sauce pairs with the rice." Service was so friendly. Walked in for Friday dinner cus it's try a new restaurant night. Surprised it was empty. They got quite a bit of takeout orders but no one eating in there. Only the workers in there. Was greeted immediately with a smile. Wasn't sure if I had to order then seat myself or politely ask to get a table first. Sometimes it's confusing at some places, I didn't want to be weird. Asked for a table then server brought menus to us. But the next person who walked in just ordered and paid right away at the cashier then sat down. So I don't know. I wasn't given water with my sit down meal. Cus I ordered the food without mentioning water, so it must be one of those don't ask don't get kinda things. As requested. FOOD: *lamb & beef gyro plate: what is this goodness! Meat is so tender. How nicely it sits on top of this rice. Pour some tzatziki sauce over both and eat it. Delightful. Comes with a side of seasoned tomato much like a salsa consistency. There was a red liquid salsa sauce too on this plate so you can pick what you want to dip your meat into *hummus with chicken kabob: o what now this is something new I haven't tried! Delicious! The garbanzo beans are blended enough that the hummus is completely smooth. Good salty flavor. Comes with triangle pieces of bread oops I mean pita to dip. I slathered the hummus all over my pita. Pita was swimming in hummus. Why not, cus they give you plenty of hummus in that bowl. How many times did I shout "delicious" throughout and after this meal. Maybe 4 times. Am I talking to myself or to my friend. Doesn't matter. Sangria available in glass, half, and full size So clean inside. Got that new restaurant feel.

As a takeout place, Gyros and Tzatziki normally gets four stars, but as a restaurant, it's definitely three stars, and I'll tell you why. This place needs better management. Failing that, one of the three guys who is normally working when I come needs to take charge, because the current setup isn't working. You order at the counter, which is common at many San Francisco restaurants. One of the three guys will help you, but sometimes, one of them is just sitting or standing a few feet away from the cash register, but he won't acknowledge your presence. It's as if only people who will actually take your order are allowed to speak to you. Once you do (eventually) place your order, you're in for a wait. If you're eating in, that's all right, because the food is definitely worth the wait, and the small seating area is normally comfortable. If you're taking it to go, however, they refuse to say anything about where to be while waiting. I normally just sit down at an empty table because I know it will be awhile, but when I stand, I always feel like I'm in someone's way. When they're busy, not only does your food take forever to come out, but the service just goes out the window. Again, only three guys working, including the chef, but why does one of the remaining two guys always seem to be so stand-around-looking-dumb lazy? And the funny part is that it's not always the same guy; the one I used to think was a hard worker was sitting in a chair near the back last time I came. It was like he was in a timeout; he wasn't looking at his phone, just yelling random things to the cook occasionally while the other poor guy had to deal with four different parties eating in, plus all the to-go orders. So order it to go before you arrive. Or sit down and try to figure out what's going on.

It is not a sit-down restaurant and doesn't pretend to be. What it is, is consistently excellent food at prices that still make sense in a city where that's getting rare. We're regulars, and we usually go on Sunday evenings after my girlfriend gets off work. Falafel wrap and chicken shawarma are our usual order -- the falafel has that crisp-shell, tender-middle thing going, and the wraps are generously built. We've branched out plenty and everything we've tried has been good. The other reason we keep showing up is the people. Turna usually takes our order, and she is genuinely lovely -- friendly in a way that isn't a customer-service script. My girlfriend and I always walk out in a better mood than we walked in with, which is worth a lot. Practical notes: halal, lots of vegetarian and vegan-friendly options, open until midnight Fri/Sat, and they cater. Grab some napkins if you're eating the wrap on the move -- it's a big one, and that's a compliment.

Staff is friendly, and most of the time you can stand on their ledges to eat or sit outside. There were 2 small tables that seat 2-3 per table.
