I have gone to this place twice and both times the staff was friendly and we didn't have to wait for a long time to be seated. The place is clean and the food is really good too even though second time I went, my waffles were soaked in syrup. Besides that I can't complain since the food portions are actually larger than in other places and you won't leave the place feeling hungry. read more

Sunday afternoon, a little bit of a wait. Service was great, great and atrentive waitress. Hubby ordered avocado swiss chicken sandwich on sourdough and it was delicious. I ordered the chili verde scramble and it was super yummy. Country potatoes were flavorful and not dry. Kids ordered kids chicken strips, kids cheese burger and a single Pancake. Portions were more than generous, even the kids meals. Great food and great service. Will definitley br back. About $50 for all 5 of us, not bad. read more

Went here for the first time. I thought the place was very nice inside and our waitress was very friendly as well as attentive. Coffee was great. Need to provide more regular half and half pods with the rest of the generous creamer options. Everyone in our group was pleased with his/her meal. Personally though, the gravy (biscuits and gravy) could use some improvement (add bits of ham and sausage crumbles, thin the gravy VERY SLIGHTLY, add more butter). The food is good, I had the CFS and eggs, biscuits were a tad floury today, my only real complaint about this place is every time I come here we end up with the most disgruntled waitress, I mean like a supershitty to the max attitude. I asked for some more iced tea, not a big deal but having a waitress roll their eyes at your request. Wow. If I weren't in a good mood today I might have said something to the manager. I went in on Friday jan 6 2017waited with two other co-workers over 15mins and NVR was acknowledged or greeted properly. Cashier assisted two other patrons to ring them out for thier lunch and didn't even say give me a minute or ask anything. If I could give them no stars I would, the one on Rosedale NVR does that to anyone I heard, example: make a person feel lessor than a human. I will NVR go back anytime again. read more

Hands down the best french toast in town!!! We've been coming here for a while and I've always got their biscuit and gravy, which is fantastic. Good food, descent prices. Only problem for me was today, when I didn't get any service. It wasn't just bad service, no one came to take my order for 30 minutes! I kept seeing at least 3 waitresses tend to the other customers, some of which were seated after I was. They just kept walking past me without even acknowledging me and my friend. The first 2 times I went, the service was okay, but this is just ridiculous. So disappointed, I can't help but think me and my friend were deliberately ignored because of how we look. Had breakfast at Spencer's for the first time this weekend I should've left as soon as my coffee was brought to my table. It had a lipstick stain on the cup. So me and my BF decided we're here what can possibly happen. We ordered and our food was not good. The country potatoes were hard not cooked all the way the eggs didn't taste like fresh eggs my BF said they may be egg beaters which I have never tried. Not returning to this restaurant :( read more

Unfortunately this place has let us down one too many times and so sad because it's near my home and we lack restaurant options on the east side. I emailed the owner with some serious issues and they replied but have not worked on the problems. The service is really bad and the food just not that good! It's clean and the iced tea is great ... but that's just not enough to keep coming back to get bad service. Last time I was there we had to ask for the ticket and she refused to take the payment from the table after telling me to take it up myself because she was too busy. Well ok! I love this place. I went to their other location on Rosedale when I first moved to Bakersfield. When I found out they opened one on this side of town, I was ecstatic. I mostly come here for breakfast, right after I get off work. The food is delicious, my favorite is the Chorizo Scramble and on weekend the Eggs Benedict. Lunch is good too, though it gets packed. If I come for lunch, I'll usually just get it to go because the wait can be a pain. The restaurant is always clean, decor is nice. Sarah is probably one of my favorite servers, she's always cheerful and upbeat. I can't recommend this place enough! read more

I come to Spencer's often. I love the food and it's near my home. Today, my birthday, I wanted to have breakfast with my brother and sister. My brother was running late so it was just me and my sister. A party of 3. Since all three people weren't here the hostess tells us we can't sit. I understand larger parties needing to be here but 3 people? It was then explained to me that this rule was implemented for waitresses to turn tables quicker....It's really disappointing to make such a decision without placing the customer front of mind. A party of three getting skipped for one person...but I could have said two, got a booth, and added the third. Again, if it was a large party I understand but three people. That makes no sense. As a manager of another institution I really hope you can revaluate this decision. read more
