    Green curry with shrimp

I came here with my 2 year old and a family friend. It was drizzling out so I wanted to go somewhere close with good service. I've been here a handful times and food is average, but I find the service to be phenomenal. Everyone is very sweet and attentive. Lunch prices are great. We went with a green curry and lettuce cups, pork fried rice with steamed dumplings and eggplant tofu stir fry with spring rolls. It was very filling and ended up taking home quite a bit. My friend wanted a spicy meal but found it rather mild. Overall a great meal and everyone enjoyed it and the ambiance. Would definitely come back.

Cute, small little Thai restaurant. Seated immediately and food brought out quickly. Very friendly. Had a lunch special menu with a complimentary app with an entree. Great looking cocktail menu. A friend that I was with said she had been here before and that they have a great hummingbird cake but unfortunately they were out of the cake at the moment. My friends both got the pad thai and said they were really good and I got the pork black noodles and they were pretty good. Would definitely go back to try other things.

Best Lunch Special in the area!!! The food always taste fresh, and the service is superb. It's just as good for takeout as it is in person. The establishment is clean and the decor is gorgeous.

My family and I recently dined at Spice, and it was a bit of a mixed bag for me. I ordered the drunken noodles, and while the flavors were on point, I found the dish a bit too soggy for my liking. The texture didn't quite match my expectations, and I prefer a firmer consistency in my noodle dishes. On a brighter note, I also tried the Massaman Curry, and while it was tasty, I personally wished it had a bit more coconut flavor. The richness of coconut is something I look forward to in a Massaman Curry, and I felt it was a bit subdued in this particular dish. Service at Spice was definitely a highlight - fast and friendly. The staff was attentive and ready to assist with any requests or questions we had. It contributed positively to the overall dining experience. The decor of the restaurant is charming and cute. It creates a pleasant and welcoming atmosphere, making it an enjoyable place to dine with family. The ambiance definitely adds to the overall appeal of Spice.

Great Lunch Special!! Located on 81st & Amsterdam, it's a nice little restaurant with very friendly staff. Lunch specials come with choice of appetizer and main dish. Starting at $12. Tom Yom Soup was delish with shrimp and plenty of spice. Holy Basil wok Chicken was packed with chicken in a good basil sauce served with rice. Presentation was beautiful . Service was friendly and helpful. Food was very good. Great local lunch spot. I'll be back!

There were 6 of us on this hot hot summer day (wished the AC was a bit stronger). We were all very basic and therefore half of us ordered pad thai and the other half ordered pad see ew. We also ordered tai ice teas and a lychee drink. We all liked our food very much but the more we ate, the more we sweat. I also thought my pad see ew was a bit on the salty side but no biggie. It made me very thirsty afterwards. The staff was very nice. A+ for service.

Half portion of eggplant and pork (two pieces of egglplant)

The pork and eggplant dish that we ordered was so bad it gave both my mother and grandmother food poisoning. Please stay away.

I've been dining at the Spice Thai restaurant chain for many years now but I have never been to this Upper West Side location. After today's experience I can honestly say this is my least favorite location. The customer service is subpar, the location is small, it has a weird damp smell when you walk in and there is lots of construction going on in front. You can't even see that it's a Spice restaurant until you walk up to it. The servers are rude and will stand around conversing instead of seeing if patrons need anything (we clearly needed napkins and one of the servers got an attitude because I took one from an empty table next to us). My friend is pregnant so she couldn't drink but I took advantage of happy hour (ends at 6:30 pm). The Thai Breeze drink ($7) was weak. It had Mekhong Thai rum and Thai Punch (lime, pineapple, cranberry, orange) in it. The next (and last) round I got the Lychee Martini and it was pretty good. Not the best I had, but decent. The main problem was the virgin cocktail for my friend who cannot drink because she's pregnant. It was super sweet (she added lots of water to it and it was still sweet), the glass was a little more half full and we didn't know it was $8 until the bill came. Had we known that virgin cocktail would be more than a happy hour cocktail she would have just ordered a lemonade or iced tea. The food was delicious though. We started with two appetizers: Crab Rangoon and Chicken Basil Egg Rolls. Both were delicious. The Crab Rangoon wasn't greasy like the kind you'd get from a neighborhood Chinese restaurant. The chicken basil egg rolls were flavorful and came with two dipping sauces. For our entrees my friend said she always get chicken Pad Thai when she dines at Thai restaurants so I encouraged her to try the Pad See-Ew because it's so good. She went with that and really enjoyed it. I wanted to try a new dish so I opted for the Bangkok Garlic and Vegetables (with chicken). I asked if they were able to add carrots to it and I was told "yes for $3 extra." Too steep for some carrots so I declined. Overall it was a decent dining experience but I wont be back to this location.

I have to update this review because I accidentally reviewed this location during an experience at a completely different location. This review is based upon my actual experience: I came here with my toddler after having experienced an accident in midtown. I was still shaken up and didn't want to drive all the way home to Westchester until I calmed a little and since I hadn't eaten anything, I decided to find the Spice that I enjoyed with my sister one night. I thought this was the one but I was wrong and since I was already here, I just decided to grab a table and make the most of it. This location is much smaller than the one for which I was looking which was perfectly fine since I was alone with my baby and would likely have to nurse her during my meal. I grabbed a table close to the host podium and the staff was pretty attentive. The food was great, as usual. I had some tea, golden fritters, crab fried rice, spring rolls, dumplings and brought home a duck curry for hubbs. The bill was not bad at all and everyone was very nice, even helping me in and out of the restaurant with my stroller. This was exactly what I needed to calm me and help me to get my bearings before setting off on the trek back home.

We had the chicken pad Thai without peanuts, and the fried curry with jasmine rice on the side. The pad Thai was a fairly standard one that will not rank among the best we've had, but wasn't bad either. If I could, I would have it again. It feels somewhat bland, and not just because peanuts were absent. Regardless, we enjoyed it. The dried curry with chicken was a different matter. It was very, very salty. I could not bring myself to finish it, which is a shame considering it had a spicy flavor that was initially appetizing. Having rice helped, but could only do so much. The salty dried curry dish somewhat ruined an experience that would otherwise have been pleasant. The service was good, with a hostess who made sure we didn't need anything further. I liked the service, and wouldn't mind coming here again, but would not get the dried curry.

I ordered a pad thai delivery from Spice after work - after the order seemed to be taking a bit longer than usual, I called the restaurant. The staff member who picked up the phone was very helpful and looked into my order right away, and discovered that it was sent to the wrong apartment. She offered to remake the order right away and get it to my in around 10 minutes. The fresh order arrived piping hot and ready for dinner! The only negative was that the bowl only appeared to be half full.

The restaurant was busy and I was by…read moremyself so I was happy to sit at the bar, and was attended to by the most sweet bartender ever. Very polite, professional and attentive. I first ordered the crispy spring rolls, which were very good. For my main I had the Massaman Curry. Now folks, this is my favorite curry of all time -- actually one of my favorite foods of all time -- and while it's common in LA where I used to live, it's not as common where I live now, in the Bay Area. And the restaurants that do carry it usually do not make it right and it's not very good. I am used to Massaman in the traditional preparation where it's more like a beef stew made with chunks of beef and needs to cook overnight. When done right it is the most aromatic curry ever -- it's almost like an aphrodisiac! -- and the beef comes out oh so tender. Usually if places have this curry but then offer a choice of protein, then it generally is not cooked properly, and that is actually how they prepare it at SaiTong. But because of such great reviews I decided to take a chance and try it. Well, let me tell you, it was definitely not the norm...it was absolutely delicious! I had it with chicken (they serve breast as default), and the chicken soaked up the curry really nicely. I also asked for there to be no onions, which I think alters the flavor of a curry too much. It does include the traditional potatoes and peanuts, and the potatoes were fine and cut into nice little chunks, the peanuts actually were thrown in raw.. what I think is the more traditional way which is to actually burn the peanuts a little bit, but that's okay, it didn't take down the dish any. Their brown rice is of the very dark kind, which I like, and goes so well with the curry. Service was wonderful from the bartender but was also provided by the rest of the staff and everyone was so nice. I left there feeling so satisfied, and cannot wait to go back and try some other dishes.

Fortunately, there were plenty of options near my Midtown hotel that offered quick delivery. Dagg Thai was just around the corner and had solid Yelp ratings. Rather than creating an online account, I called the restaurant directly and placed my order. They estimated delivery would take about 25 minutes. Less than 20 minutes later, the food was waiting for me in the hotel lobby. I ordered: * Cashew Nuts with Shrimp -- Bell peppers, onions, scallions, cashews, and dried chilies. * Dumplings -- Mixed shrimp and pork served with a soy vinaigrette dipping sauce. The Cashew Nuts with Shrimp had a flavorful, light sauce with just the right amount of heat. I really enjoyed it. My only disappointment was that the shrimp were battered and fried; I would have preferred grilled or pan-seared shrimp. The dumplings were more like shoo-mai than traditional dumplings. They were a bit dense but still flavorful and satisfying. Considering the quick delivery, the food arrived piping hot, and the excellent Cashew Nuts dish, this was an easy four-star meal.
