The atmosphere is cool soulful vibes. The service was more than expected, a very pleasant surprise. The space is surprisingly more expansive than the outside looks and adds variety to the experience. I don't think having oxtails on the menu means it's Caribbean food. The menu reads more like a Carrib-Latin fusion. That's not a critic, only an observation. The food was good and it was a great after church brunch spot for the hubby and I. This spot works for day or night, intimate or group gatherings.
Great start to finish. We tried a good variety of dishes. Ceviche, Braised Oxtail, Lamb Chos, oxtail Mac n Cheese. Was hoping to try the curry chicken but there was no room. Our server Jayleen was fantastic. Loved her energy and welcoming attitude. So service was an easy A+ all the way. I loved every dish, but if forced to pick just one, I'd have to go with the lamb chops with the jerk seasoning. They were divine. Everything was great though, that Mac n Cheese will put you on the couch. So good! Glad we got a chance to go here. The great reviews were legit. Certainly recommend, especially for special occasions.
Black owned business First, this place is exactly where you'd want to go for a romantic date. The ambiance set the mood for love paired with incredible cocktails and amazing food. Next, thank you to our waitress Tye. Her fun personality and warmth gave us true southern hospitality mixed with culinary knowledge (she knew her dishes well) To start, I had to try their spicy mango cocktail and added some strawberry puree. Whew! this drink was on fire, literally lol. The presentation was 10/10 as Tye light up the cup and instructed me on how to out it before drinking. The drink was 100/100. That pure mango taste paired with the strawberry puree was complimented by the variety of liquors creating a memorable flavor. It reminded me of the Caribbean and I loved every moment of it. STARTERS We then ordered their recommended coconut gulf shrimp which came with a spicy chili lime sauce. The shrimp was quite generous in serving and the coconut flakes in the batter brought a cooling sensation to the chili lime sauce at the bottom. This was sooooo delicious. ENTREES I ordered the flaming branzino and my honey did the stewed curry chicken. The flaming branzino, another smoking hot presentation, came with a side of braised cabbage and dirty rice. The branzino was seasoned to perfection and oozing with juicy flavors. The char on the fish was amplified by the wood serving board, adding a delectable smokiness to the meal. As someone who regularly orders branzino from other restaurants, this branzino has now become one of my top 10. The braised cabbage was sinfully good. The type of cabbage that you wish you knew how to make at home because you'd likely cook it every day lol The dirty rice was my least favorite and the reason is because I didn't eat it that night but the next day while trying to enjoy my leftovers, I realized that it contained several bottom of the pot burnt parts. While it had flavor, I couldn't finish it because of the burnt parts. My honey loved his stewed curry chicken We couldn't make it to dessert because we were stuffed lol all signs of an incredible dinner. I highly recommend this place to anyone desiring a good culinary experience. The food, cocktails, and ambiance brings the Caribbean to NOLA and after you're done you can walk off the meal on Frenchman Street.
We first came to Spicy Mango in May, and it was our first visit. Considering I've been to New Orleans four times this year alone, I can honestly say that DC (bartender) we met during that trip, is the reason we came back again this past week. From the moment we walked in, she was incredibly welcoming. She struck the perfect balance of being friendly and engaging without ever being overbearing. Even though she was a newer bartender at the time, she was knowledgeable about the menu, answered all of our questions and had such an upbeat, genuine vibe! She's easily the most welcoming bartender we'd encountered in New Orleans and that's the damn truth. We tipped her extremely generously both visits because that type of hospitality deserves it. On our first trip, we had the coconut shrimp and ceviche which were crisp, fresh, and beautifully presented. This time we were already full, so we didn't even order food. We literally stopped in because we wanted to see our fav bartender in Nola. I wasn't even planning on having a cocktail, but when we saw DC working the outdoor bar, we wanted to be served by her because her energy is literally that contagious. Even though we were seated at the indoor bar she immediately said she'd see if she could go out of her way to take care of us there. That level of hospitality and willingness to accommodate guests says a lot..... As a bartender myself, I know firsthand how insane this job can be, which makes me appreciate her even more. She genuinely makes people feel welcome. I asked her to create me a gin-based mocktail-style cocktail, and she nailed it. My boyfriend ordered the Flaming Margarita, which was fantastic as well. The ambiance is a 10/10. We even chose to sit outside at the bar in crazy heat because we genuinely enjoy being around DC's positive energy. Spicy Mango has officially become a must for us every single time we fly from New York, whether we're stopping in for food or just drinks. Exceptional service like hers is hard to find, and she's the kind of bartender who turns first timers into loyal out of town regulars. Bravo to her and the entire Spicy Mango team. Service, food and drinks on point both times.
Stopped by Spicy Mango in New Orleans after finding out Marsh was hosting a private event, and they recommended their sister restaurant just five minutes away. Safe to say... I'm glad they did. Overall: 9.5/10 Coconut Shrimp: 7/10 Crispy and flavorful, but it wasn't my favorite dish of the meal. Elote Corn: 10/10 As an elote lover, this had my heart! It's not your typical street corn, but the flavors were incredible. Braised Cabbage: 10/10 This completely surprised me. Perfectly seasoned with just the right amount of spice. Curry Chicken: 10/10 Absolutely delicious! Authentic curry flavor, perfectly spicy, tender chicken, and plenty of vegetables served over white rice. Dirty Rice: 8.5/10 Really good, but I think I was just getting full by this point! Caribbean Cough Syrup: If you enjoy bourbon, be careful... this drink will definitely sneak up on you. Secret Garden (with a splash of mango): 10/10 As someone who loves a good mocktail, this was an excellent choice--refreshing, flavorful, and beautifully balanced. Service: 10/10 Taylor crafted our drinks and took great care of us throughout the meal. Joshua, who I believe is part of the management team, also checked in several times and made sure everything was perfect. The hospitality here truly stood out. Ambiance: 10/10 Think sexy date night, birthday dinner, girls' night out, or an elevated happy hour. The atmosphere is intimate, stylish, and perfect if you're looking for a vibe. Parking: There is paid parking nearby, or you can try to find free street parking, but it can be a little challenging depending on the time of day. If you're in New Orleans and can't get into Marsh, don't overlook Spicy Mango. It turned out to be an amazing backup plan and a restaurant I'd happily return to on purpose.
Forward to the Spicy Mango, so glad I had the opportunity while in town. We came earlier than our reservation, so we were lucky to be seated. They had happy hour ongoing, almost half off drinks and appetizers. We got the mango habanero wings, the joshi bread, bujwah, and spicy mango margarita. All the appetizers were fantastic. My favorite drink was the bujwah, very passionfruit-forward. We decided to try their red snapper. It was delish, just needed a little salt for our taste. Honestly, I had a great experience at Spicy Mango. Our waitress, Melanie, was outstanding; she had great recommendations. I wasn't feeling half way through dinner, so we had to cut our dinner short. She provided me with a water cup to go without me asking, and she boxed up my meals. I loved the genuine care she displayed. I was sad I didn't get to pig out like I wanted. I can't wait to be back to try more menu items.
The ambiance was everything and more!! The service was ok, which is one of the reasons I'm giving it 3 stars. We asked for napkins 3-4 times and never received them unfortunately, outside of that the waiter was nice. After wanting one thing on the menu, we were told that they did not have it and it was substituted with something else since they are still testing everything out. The food is also why I gave it 3 stars. The wings were my appetizer and they were lukewarm as if they were just sitting there. They weren't freshly made at all. The drink was nonalcoholic and it was GREAT !!! The jerk Mac n Cheese was also lukewarm as if someone else ordered it and they no longer wanted it then gave it to us. A steak was also ordered but I didn't get a chance to take a picture of it. I personally wouldn't go back.
GOOD. First of all the interior is extremely beautiful. Definitely sets a vibe for a nice date night. My waitress was very friendly and knowledgeable about the food and drinks on the menu. I got the jerk chicken burger, and that was one of the best jerk chicken burgers I ever ate The chicken was marinated just right the spice of the jerk chicken so authentic and it was just an all-around good juicy burger Alongside with yuca fries it just blends so well The street corn was fire wish there was a lil more And then wings was on point
A beautiful restaurant with a really cool concept! We visited for the first time during coolinary, and all of the food was good! The steak was cooked really well, and we enjoyed the flavor of the oxtail. My mocktail was really good and featured Ritual non-alcoholic gin, so it was more than just juice and I liked that. It was $18, though, and mocktails aren't included in the happy hour 40% off special. The prices are kinda outrageous, but I did enjoy the experience! An automatic 20% tip is included, so just be prepared. During this deal, our group of 3 spent about $220. I might return for a happy hour or another special because I think it's worthwhile if you have the cash to spend and you're looking for a neat dining experience!
I was super stoked to try this Caribbean style restaurant with a Nola flare during my visit to New Orleans last weekend. I'm an aesthetic queen and loved everything about the beachy decor low lighting and decor extended to the restaurants. Reservations strongly recommended. It wasn't busy at all throughout our early dinner, and we still had to sit at the bar which i thought was silly. Our food did arrive quick and it was great but I was very disappointed about the amount of gnats flies hoovering around my food at the bar. The bartender saw us swatting and eventually brought over these little fans that did not help at all. The A/C vent was leaking as well on my sister at the bar and we had to move down to avoid that mess. Branzino 4/5 Presentation on taste and portion size was perfect definitely sharable. Hated all the bones. I order branzino regularly and typically do not have bones like that. Jerk Chicken 4/5. The jerk is hot in spice like breathing like a dragon hot but it is really good and has a nice char flavor you don't need sauce for it. I ordered half chicken and had plenty to share. Plantains were perfect, not mushy, firm and delish. I added cojita cheese for an upcharge. The cabbage was seasoned down and definitely recommended side. I wasn't a fan of the jerk mac but my sis loved it. It was a little dry and the jerk pieces were as well. The bartender whipped up a tequila espresso martini Don Julio style and it was decent. Def made for a great photo. Helpful tip: 20% auto gratuity at the bar.
I was very excited about visiting this restaurant based on my previous experience because the food is delicious. Unfortunately during this visit we were unable to order any foods on the grill which includes the jerk chicken. As a result I ordered the curry chicken, jerk Mac n cheese, and a mocktail. The food was absolutely delicious. However I was surprised to discover the mocktail was $18. This was the same price as the Long Island ice tea which contains a decent amount of alcohol. Prices are not listed on the drink menu so be sure to ask before ordering. Hopefully the grill items will be available at my next visit. The restaurant executes the theme perfectly though.
LONG POST ALERT I enjoyed the vibe of this place although at first I wasn't sure how it was going to be and here's why. We arrived around 8:45pm for a 9:15pm reservation on a Friday night. It was very busy and when we were getting ready to walk in, a man came out and asked if had a reservation to which we responded "yes". He asked the name, I provided it, and then he said that we can wait in the line (which is outdoors) behind the others. Fortunately, the weather was pretty good despite it being the end of July and there was only about 3 parties ahead of us. When we were called for our reservation, we walked in, the hostess asked for the name, I provided it, and they asked us to follow them. While we were following them I stepped on a piece of broken glass, it caught the hostess's attention and they immediately diverted their attention to cleaning up the glass. The only thing I didn't care for was the fact they didn't communicate what they were about to do and left me and my best friend waiting outside (we walked through the restaurant to get to the patio) while they were inside cleaning up the glass. It didn't take too long though. We were seated and they immediately asked who was the birthday girl. I replied "MEEEE!!" I was surprised they paid attention to that because I didn't write any special note to say that it was my birthday. This made me start to feel seen! Once our waitress came to the table she also acknowledged my birthday with excitement and was extremely kind, professional, and enthusiastic! I ordered the Red Beans Oxtails (RBO) and my best friend ordered the Braised Oxtails. I had the Hey Merlot Merlot while my bestie had a Rose to pair with our meals. I must say that the Merlot paired SOOO good with the RBO!!! The RBO was VERY spicy in my opinion but it was so good and flavorful that I could get past it. If you're sensitive to spice please be mindful of this. The Merlot was able to take away the spice a little and I could taste the wine in such a different way! My bestie said that she couldn't really taste the Rose since her Braised Oxtails were spicy and bold in flavor but eventually her tastebuds were used to the spice and she was able to taste Rose and she enjoyed it! Our meals were SUPERB!! The RBO had to be the BEST oxtails that I've ever had! We also ordered plantains and they were SO good! I don't live in the area but Spicy Mango is now a must whenever I'm in town.
Visited NOLA for my friends birthday and this place was on her list to try. NO NOTES. Service was great. Drinks were on point. Food was delicious. Place is GORGEOUS!! I would definitely go back.

Spicy Mango exceeded our expectations! We made reservations and were seated promptly as soon as we checked in, which was a great start to the evening. The restaurant is absolutely beautiful inside--very aesthetically pleasing with dim lighting that creates the perfect atmosphere for either a girls' night out or a date night. We ordered the charred elote, jerk mac and cheese, red bean oxtails with rice and peas, and the West Indies French 75. Every single dish was delicious and full of flavor. The oxtails were tender, the sides were amazing, and the cocktail was the perfect complement to the meal. The food, ambiance, and service all came together for a wonderful dining experience. We truly had no complaints and will definitely be back! read more

I've had great experiences at Spicy Mango. I am typically seated immediately on the patio since I always forget to do a reservation. Lessons learned here because as the weather gets hotter, I'd like to dine inside so a reservation in a must. The food service is always timely and pleasant. The ceviche, Jerk chicken mac and cheese and Flaming Branzino are my go to dishes. Recently there was an increase in parking fee near the restaurant. I don't mind spending money but $45 for 2 hours was a bit shocking especially since I met a friend there who rode separate and paid the same amount. So be prepared to spend on parking and on the restaurant. The restaurant is worth it though. I typically get upset at Caribbean restaurants in the city who just don't understand flavors beyond NOLA flavors but this place has mastered that. read more

Beautiful restaurant! We came for lunch on a Sunday since they were open during the day for Bayou Classic weekend. It was four of us, and everyone enjoyed their meal. I started off at the bar while waiting for my party and had two drinks, the Bujaw and the Montserrat. I thoroughly enjoyed both; they were strong, well-made, and flavorful. The only drawback was how hot it was when I walked in. It felt like a heater may have been on, and since it was warm outside too, the temperature was uncomfortable at first. Once my entire party arrived, we were seated promptly, ordered more drinks, and then our entrées. We had the red beans with oxtails, the oxtail plate, and the lamb plate. We also ordered the jerk mac & cheese, cabbage, and bread. Everything came out quickly, was beautifully presented, and tasted delicious. I enjoyed my oxtails, though they could've been cooked a little longer to be more tender. The jerk mac & cheese had great flavor from the jerk sauce, but it could've been a bit cheesier and creamier. Overall, it was a good experience. Our server, Alex, was excellent, very patient, knowledgeable, and great at explaining the menu since it was our first time. I'll definitely be back and am already planning to bring other friends. It's perfect for girls' night or date night. We came for lunch, but I can tell this place really shines and sets the tone for dinner. read more

If I could give this place more than 5 stars I would! Absolutely stunning restaurant with twinkling lights, palm trees, neon signs, and a fun tropical vibe. Our waitress was so extremely kind and funny and made our experience all the more fun! I got the RudeGal and they set it on FIRE adding to the theme and overall experience! This place is not all vibes, the drink was phenomenal-- spicy and very flavorful! My partner and I got the charred elote to share and it was delicious! It was creamy, cheesey, and had that smoky grilled flavor. For my main, I got the jerk mac and cheese and it was one of the best meals I've ever had. It was incredibly flavorful and smothered in cheese! Next time i'm in NOLA, I will be back! read more
Made a reservation here for a Friday night during our visit. Everything was great from the moment we walked in. Keegan was a great server and made great recommendations. I had the oxtails with white rice, my wife had the flaming branzino. We shared the jerk chicken mac and cheese, and the plantains. Everything was phenomenal. The oxtails had a nice kick to them, and the branzino was delicious. We had to make a special trip back to our airbnb after eating here because we could not let our leftovers go to waste. Highly highly recommend. The only thing I would add is that I recommend to go later in the evening because it seems like get more lively as the night goes on. Food was okay, but not for the price. Our server/bartender never checked on us after taking our order. Someone else had to come give us our bill because she wasn't even looking our way to get her attention. We had a reservation but still had to wait a long time. They let walk ins sit before the people with reservations, it wasn't just us. read more

My mom begged me to go back and I am glad I did!!! I'm not sure if they read my previous review but THIS time everything was delicious! Elote was fresh and packed with flavor Lamb chops were cooked to perfection with a bit of heat on the back end. Oxtail Mac and cheese did not disappoint I tried the oxtail and grits AGAIN...Grits were smooth, with some thickness to stand up to the jam packed flavors of the oxtail and gravy and everything was fresh and hot. Drinks did what they needed to do with great presentation and our server Bre was top tier Ambience was beautiful only complaint was it was a bit humid but not terrible read more

Food was amazing! Definitely lives up to the name when it comes to spice. Staff were really friendly and knowledgeable about menu items, however, it did take awhile getting food and and drinks. I treated myself to a solo dinner at Spicy Mango and had a great experience from start to finish. I didn't have a reservation, but I was able to grab a seat at the bar right away. Taylor, the bartender, took excellent care of me. She had great recommendations, a friendly attitude, and checked in throughout my meal to make sure everything was just right. She suggested adding shrimp to the grilled branzino, and I'm so glad I listened--it was the perfect addition. The grilled branzino was delicious, and the rice and peas had a rich flavor with a welcomed kick of spice. The plantains were also a great complement to the meal. I was especially excited to find a non-fried option in New Orleans that was still full of flavor. I also had two cocktails, and both were well-made and enjoyable. To finish the meal, I tried the red velvet cake. It wasn't the best I've ever had, but it was still a decent dessert and a nice way to end the evening. If you're looking for something different from the traditional New Orleans cuisine, I highly recommend Spicy Mango. If you enjoy Caribbean food, you'll definitely appreciate what they have to offer. I'll definitely be back the next time I'm in New Orleans. read more
I had an amazing experience here! I was able to walk in on a Friday night without a reservation and was seated pretty quickly. The decor and ambience are amazing-- as expected from the owner. The vibes were all right. Drinks: I ordered a standard lemon drop and it was fine Food: you MUST start with the ceviche!!!! It was the best I've had in my life! You'll want to lick the bowl; it's THAT GOOD! All components blended perfectly, and the recipe is well executed. I also ordered the branzino with a side of peas/rice. The entree was tasty as well; I have no complaints. My friend had the lamb chops with spicy cabbage and enjoyed that also. Spicy Mango is off to a great start and will have a repeat customer in me. read more

Not only is the food good but also you will be safe! I made a reservation for French Quarter Festival weekend around 11pm for me and my friend. We were followed by a guy that just would not leave us alone. Once we got to the restaurant Priest (security) was incredibly kind and got rid of him when he noticed how upset and uncomfortable we were and he made sure we were safe from the time we sat down until the time we got into our Lyft to depart! I will always be appreciative of that! Larry Morrow! You got a patron in me for life. The security alone is a key detail many restaurants are missing. The restaurant is incredibly beautiful and I wish I could've gotten more pictures to capture it from my POV. I ordered the strawberry lemon drop, the mango habanero wings w/ the oxtail Mac and cheese. Everything was good, I do recommend more sauce for the wings but other than that it was a quick bite to end the night. But see that oxtail Mac and cheese!! 10/10. We finally tried Spicy Mango during our latest visit to New Orleans, and all we could ask ourselves was why we waited so long. We had walked past this Caribbean Creole fusion spot on Frenchmen Street countless times, and now it is easily one of our favorite dining experiences in the city. From the moment we walked in, everything stood out. The atmosphere is vibrant and inviting, the location is perfect, and the service was attentive without being overbearing. Every detail felt thoughtfully done. We ordered the whole snapper and the Emerald Green Salad, and both were outstanding. The snapper was seasoned and cooked to perfection, flavorful and beautifully presented. The salad was incredibly refreshing, with a combination of flavors that made every bite exciting and perfectly balanced. This place exceeded expectations in every way. Highly recommend making a stop here if you are in New Orleans. read more

Atmosphere was very nice, an elevated Caribbean vibe, service was great and the food was good. Our server was very attentive and suggested a few of her favorite bites and drinks. It was happy hour so there were two specialty drinks to choose from a strawberry spritz and a dusse lemonade. Unfortunately the dusse lemonade was sold out. Happy hour ended at 7, it was only 5:30 so it was kindle odd to be sold out of a drink so early. We ordered the coconut shrimp and crawfish fritters for apps. Both were good, but the shrimp were my favorite. The fritters were a little too doughy in my opinion. For entree I got the red fish escovitch. It came out hot and fresh. It was a nice size fish so I definitely had enough for left overs. read more
What an absolute vibe of a restaurant. The service was astounding and attentive, the music was a hit and the decor was her great. We started with the shrimp ceviche and Mac and cheese and both did not disappoint. The shrimp ceviche was juicy and tender and the Mac and cheese was perfectly crafted. The stars were the branzino and oxtail. The branzino had such depth and flavor and the oxtail was so flavorful. The downfall of this dinner was the drinks. We had the caparihina , old fashioned, spicy margaritas and cough drop. They were good but not worth the $18-20 per drink as they were either too sweet or not enough flavors Overall, this is the vibe to get Caribbean inspired cuisine. read more
Wow!! What a pleasant surprise! My experience at Spicy Mango was truly a treat. The space is beautiful and immediately whisks you away to an island inspired paradise. Aside from the fact that my friends were pretty late arriving which caused us be seated well after our reservation time, the wait staff was more than patient and accommodating. Once our whole party of 4 arrived, we were seated indoors which I was grateful for due to the outdoor heat. Our waiter Cory was super friendly and patient and helped us navigate the menu. We ordered the coconut shrimp, the wings and the crawfish beignets all delicious and the perfect appetizers. My friends ordered the special spicy margarita that had a little flame at the top. And I had a mango lemonade which was a tasty and refreshing zero proof option. For entrees we ordered the oxtail, flaming branzino with sides of plantain, cabbage and rice. The meal was a 9/10. Everything was flavorful-and the portions were perfect for sharing. We even had leftovers. Sadly, we didn't have time for dessert but I would've ordered the mango pie because I've never had a mango pie before. I honestly can't wait to come back and try more of the menu. read more
I love Caribbean food so I was excited to try Larry Morrows take on it. We ate inside and it was cute and felt like we escaped to a tropical get away. The bathroom was outside and next time, weather permitting, Id love to sit outside amongst the beautiful greenery. My server Alex O. was very helpful and gave great recommendations. We started with the coconut shrimp which was a good start. For the entree my friend and I shared the escovitch snapper, cabbage, rice and peas and yucca fries! I enjoyed everything but the snapper was not escovitch. It was great fried snapper but the vegetables weren't quite pickled and the sauce on the plate was good but not what I was expecting or wanting when I ordered escovitch. We finished with the rum cake which was really good but I was full and could only enjoy a bite. I'd definitely return to try other items on the menu. read more
The food is so great ... make sure your belly is prepared to be fed WELL! This was my first time ... so I asked for recommendations. The waitress at the bar, where I sat, was extremely helpful. We started with the mango habanero wings. EXCELLENT - best combo of a little sweet with a hint of heat! We did shareable options - braised oxtails ( which comes with steamed Jasmine rice) , braised cabbage , plantains and rice & peas. EVERY ITEM WAS SIMPLY DELICIOUS!!! The braised oxtails - tender and that dark brown roux makes you want to drown in it - so damn tasty and seasoned well. The braised cabbage has a spicy kick to it - but still very tasty. You will NOT need any salt or pepper. Forgive my photos - at night the ambiance gives you a deeper Caribbean evening vibe. Nice for a second date or romantic evening with your special someone. Also great for a girls night out. Wish I could rate it 10/10. I will be back - and use my flash! Lol... read more

Absolutely loved spicy mango and was delighted to hear that it is a black owned restaurant. Service was amazing thanks to my sever Jamal. I got the oxtails, jerk mac n cheese, shrimp ceviche, mango habanero wings, pickled slaw, and red snapper. Everything was a 10/10 and portions were huge. The atmosphere gave me beach vibes and I love it. This is the perfect date spot. read more

10/10. Everything at Spicy Mango was amazing. I had the shrimp ceviche, grilled elote and the crawfish beignets, when I say delicious I mean delicious. My west indies French 75 was made PERFECT!!!!! Our waitress Tia was also great. My husband had the Jerk Chicken and said that was the best he ever had. We will put Spicy Mango on our go to list every single time we are in Nola.. Spicy Mango Spicy mango boy was I expecting much better food than I had. There was hype around this place so decided to try it out of the other 8 places I visited while there. To begin with the vibe, atmosphere, and ambiance was amazing and love it all and really was my favorite about this place. Our waitress was great, very helpful and knowledgeable abut the menu. Drinks were top notch for me which is why I'm giving it that extra star for 4. Try that spicy mango margarita (extra spicy) Let's get to the dishes..... Started with the habanero wings which were great and falling off the bone. I ordered the oxtails and red beans which were flavorful but my oxtails were definitely more burnt and on the crispy side rather than tender, and this is coming from someone that can cook oxtails and also a Jamaican. Tried the side of dirty rice and I enjoyed that as well. Also for $34 dollars 2 pieces of oxtail is wild!!!! Also ordered the oxtail man and cheese and I would have been better off just ordering plain Mac n cheese because again the pieces of oxtails in the Mac n cheese were burnt. Like giving it a burnt rip rip feel. Don't know if I just went on a bad night but I'm definitely not running back or keeping here as a must try place. Now I would visit one more time to probably give it another chance and try another dish before writing them off because it wasn't all bad. read more

My new Favorite Restaurant! From the moment I walked in I was in love, felt like I was in a resort instead of Frenchmen Street. Me and my friend went on Monday night and we were immediately greeted with smile. We had reservations but arrived a few minutes early, they asked us if we would prefer to sit inside or outside. We decided to sit inside, the outside area was gorgeous, but it was just too hot around the time we went. I can't wait to sit in the outside area when temperature starts to drop though. Our waiter Qui was VERY knowledge on the menu and helped us with all our selections. For drinks we had the West Indies French 75 and the Zacapa Old Fashion. These were a great twist on traditional drinks. To eat we had the Shrimp Ceviche, Jerk Mac and Cheese, and the Branzino. They all were so flavorful and delicious, but the star of the show was the Jerk Mac and Cheese. I could go back just for this dish. For dessert we shared the rum cake, so good! I can not wait to go back. The service, ambiance, and food was a 10/10. Located on Frenchmen St so be prepare to pay to park. read more

Beautiful space. Great staff from the front door and everyone one I interacted with was so so helpful and on point. Bathrooms were accessible and clean. Chairs are questionably accessible but they have booths. Outside seating is gorgeous. Ambient light. The prices are $$$ and I personally didn't see the value in the food itself but the experience was great. Drink menu drinks are 18-25 at 1/2 off happy hour. The passion fruit cocktail I had was delicious. Our server KG was impressive and set the expectation high from now on if I were to return. read more

Now serving brunch! I ordered the jerk chicken and waffles. Chicken was very spicy but not over powering and the waffles had plantains in them. The shrimp ceviche was the star of the show. A must! Beautiful restaurant. The server was new but she was able to answer all of our questions. We went on national margarita day, $5 margaritas. I'd love to go back and try other menu items. read more

Found this place as we wandered around NOLO and it was great! Perfect for my vegan friend as well. We got the Joshi bread and the butter was delicious. My main course was the ox tail Mac n cheese and that was excellent as well. It was a little heavy and I couldn't finish it. My friend ordered the Cuban po boy which she said was delicious as well. We had a great server. The manager wasn't very engaging and almost ran me over without an apology. They also had the AC blasting so high it was very uncomfortable and we couldn't wait to leave. We saw they had a cute outdoor eating area we wish we saw and sat outside inside. read more
Spicy Mango was very good! Amazing food and service. I love the music they were playing it was a r&b Caribbean mix. Interesting and different. Our service was so excited to be there and gave the best recommendations. Definitely get the spicy mango margarita, the bread with an AMAZING guava butter, and the oxtail. I had oxtail for the first time here! and let me tell you, it was delicious. we also had the chicken mac n cheese and ceviche ! The service was great and the ambiance was super classy! will return if i ever come back to NOLA read more

I made reservations here after looking at many reviews and social media posts of the food which looked absolutely amazing. This was the best decision I made. From the time we checked in at the front desk, Jamal was very friendly and personable. We arrived about 45 minutes early for our reservation, but Jamal gladly accommodated us and sat us immediately. We were greeted by our server within a few minutes, Corey G. Corey was absolutely amazing and only added to the amazing experience that we had. We started out looking at the menu, and Corey literally navigated us through everything on the menu for his recommendations and any feedback he had received from other customers as well as all the items that he tried personally. He did not steer us wrong! We started with the mango habanero wings as an appetizer dinner. Delicious!! We did the whole Bronzino and jerk chicken sandwich along with oxtail Mac and cheese..... yes yes yes!! Presentation stellar, taste amazing, and the overall ambiance of this restaurant is unmatched. Our experience was so amazing I asked to speak to the manager..... enters Josh. Josh was the manager And contacted all these amazing dishes. You can tell he loves what he does and Is passionate about the customers experience, perfection of the dishes and professional growth of his staff. Hands down a 10 out of 10 here. The hype is real lol. I like all of the Morrow Hospitality restaurants but this is close to the top. I wasn't aware that there was a happy hour but it includes wines and most cocktails. The spicy margarita was very good and even has some theatrics lol. We tried the crawfish beignets, flaming branzino, red beans oxtail, curry chicken, jerk Mac and cheese and rice and peas. Everything was excellent. I did make reservations so I'm not sure how the wait is for walk-ins. Perfect place for a birthday dinner. Be aware that a service charge is automatically included. read more
Each dish is packed with flavor in unique ways that bring the whole meal together. My favorite was definitely the jerk mac n cheese! When you walk in you're warmly greeted and then enter into a chic space. It's great for pictures with all the photo op friendly decor too! read more
I have been to spicy mango twice now and here's my review. It is very cute in there, the big tree and the dim lighting but the music is sooo loud. I hate hate hate restaurants with loud music. The music coupled with the sounds of patrons talking, we could barely hear each other or the waiter. The waiter was very nice and kind and he gave us recommendations and explained things to us. Now the food: all the appetizers were great, the sweet bread, the delicious charred elote, and the crab balls. All so good, in fact we got a second elote and I got it again the second time I went. For the meal I got the oxtails which were very good to me, my one complaint is they could've been more tender but the flavor was there. My sister had the red bean oxtail which also was good but it looked like she didn't have as much oxtail as me so something to consider. We had the cabbage and sweet plantains on the side and I'm not lying when I say that is the best cabbage I've ever had. I could've got that and some rice as a meal by itself. Now I am a cabbage lover but that is truly some good cabbage and it doesn't taste how myself or family cook it at home, it's just better. The plantains were also done well, came with a crema sauce which the waiter did clarify if I wanted and I tried it and it was good. Everything was great I was stuffed. Now the second time I went I had the curry chicken and this for me was not as good as the oxtail. Again it just wasn't very tender like I felt the chicken could've been stewed more, idk. It wasn't the best curry chicken I've had. It didn't leave me wanting more like the oxtail did. But I will be spicy mango, if not for a whole meal then for apps and drinks. I say it's worth a try. read more
