Food is very tasty. Portions are hearty so you will be full. Prices are affordable. The wait is too long though - at least 45 minutes no matter what time you go in. Otherwise, great breakfast place. read more

i've come to stacks quite a few times and most recently just 2 days ago! my boyfriend and i ordered the crab crepe, banana macadamia coconut pancakes, and the all meat omelet. everything was delicious and the portions were generous compared to IHOPS. the price is very reasonable for the amount of food you get (we paid about $35). my boyfriend has never eaten at stacks prior to friday's visit and he's already a huge fan and talked about wanting to have some this morning! the reason why i'm not giving them 5 stars is because i think it's a little rude to be getting your bill before you're even finished. read more

Food is tasty, service is courteous; however, this restaurant is noisy and crowded. It is so noisy that the clamoring and the clattering of the plates, the knives, the chattering of the people give me a headache and it hurries me to leave. Our server seated us in the center between two four-seat tables; sort of like an extra row of two-person seating they added to accommodate the waiting line. Stacks is my moms go to brunch place. I usually get an egg dish, my fav is the crab frittata. Light, but filling. Accompany it with a mimosa and your brunch is complete. The free coffee and ice tea makes the wait go a lot faster, and you plan for a wait too. If you can, try to sit outside and enjoy the sunny scenery. read more

came here for the first time and loved the complimentary coffee while waiting for a table. We no longer sat down and I waiter was asking us what we wanted too drink and hadn't even opened up menu. I had the Crab Louis Benedict. The food came out very luke warm and Crab tasted like it was from a can. I asked for a salad instead of potatoes and came out with some concoction of some kind of salad that had everything but salad in it. Friendly attentive and patient staff. Came with a group of 10 for a late drizzly Sunday lunch. Wait was 30 minutes, but the self serve coffee helped keep us warm. I ordered the garden crepe, which was decent. It didn't fill me up, but the bagel and side of potatoes sure did. read more

I used to like this place but now to me its just ok. I feel like the pancakes are undercooked (middle is almost raw still). I even sent it back to the kitchen and when they gave it back, it still seemed undercooked. I would prefer Millbrae Pancake house or Nini's café in Burlingame/San Mateo. read more

i love places that are only open part of the day. i think i got an all meat crepe my first time which was reallly good. but then the second time i got this italian egg scramble thing and it was really the nasiest thing i have ever eaten. i remember i loooked at it and then didn't want it. the whole thing just tasted funny.. like the tomato sauce was expired or rotten or something. ooh! but the hash browns are goodgoodgood. and service is also good despite the wait sometimes. read more

Love this place! Every Sunday my boyfriend and I wake up, get ready, and drive on over to Stacks. If you're lazy or hung over enough to get there around 11:30, expect that crowd you would usually see waiting 40-50 minutes for a table! I always get their waffles, banana pecan or blueberry, or their banana macadamia coconut pancakes. My boyfriend loves the west omelette and the coffee is always good. The service isn't amazing, but it's what you would expect from a busy breakfast place. read more

Hadn't been here in a long time cuz I moved out of the area. We thought it would be nice to come here for old times sake on a week day off from work. Wow, things have changed big-time!! The food was horrible!!!! The banana-macadamia nut-coconut pancakes were super nasty. We both ordered a half-stack (2 pancakes) and neither of us touched them after our first few bites. The waitress noticed this when she was clearing off our table and asked if the pancakes tasted okay. The potatoes were super oily. The hot link omelette was the best thing on the plate although small portions. I had to actually send my first order back because when I asked, the waitress told me that the corned beef listed on the menu was hash but when she brought it out, it was cut up corned beef lunch meat, but she was totally cool about changing my order. My hubby and I love this place. It's like a glove on a cold day. We prefer it over the neighboring breakfast places. In contrast to the others nearby, their omelets and scrambles actually have flavor and taste. We also love the guy who takes our names to be in line. I have never seen him lose it. He's just steady as it goes. Very friendly and not frazzled. Maybe inside he is but he's very friendly and gracious. The servers are the same too. They look you in the eye for a change and acknowledge you're a human being when they seat you or serve you. We like the touch of having coffee outside. Keeps us loyal. I love this place more and more every time i go! This time i got the hot link omelette instead of my usual all meat omelette and man did i like the hot link omelette more! On the side i tried the banana coconut with macadamia nuts pancakes and it is just as good as the lumberjack. i really don't know which one is better i like them both so much! you just can't go wrong with those two pancakes, and they are huge. wow. this place is so busy on the weekends. I figured I would finally go and try it. I am confused. granted it is Friday. it wasn't as busy of course. the food was ok. just ok. I ordered a San Francisco something or other. basically a traditional joes special with cream cheese added to it and a bagel on side. it wasn't special but nothing I would complain about either. one gripe Is there were a lot of items in my dish that weren't supposed to be there. I fished out a chunk of tomato, I also found after putting in my mouth a sausage and some chewy white thing I don't want to think about. my kids got the Micky and Minnie pancakes. just ok as far as pancakes go but nothing wrong and they were cute. my major gripes are 1.39 for literally a daisy cup of chocolate milk with no refills. seriously? Also the manager was sitting around the whole time. never spoke or looked at a customer and was chatting up the workers most the time. at least sit around in the back room. granted nothing overly wrong. wildly confused by its popularity but we are in a age where we are manipulated more then we would like to think, hence a lot of nonsensical behavior everywhere. Stacks, in general, is just ok. That's why I don't understand a long wait time. The food is ok, the portions are HUGE..not necessary since most of the dishes are so rich an heavy. I was there recently and had eggs benedict. It was good but I found a hair on my bagel..a short, black hair..i think it was a beard hair, or some such, yuck! Came here over the weekend with a party of six. I've been to this Stacks numerous times so I have an idea of what to expect. This time was just not worth it. The two people who ordered pancakes were served lukewarm pancakes. How could you tell? The lump of butter on top of the pancakes never changed shape, never melted. Two people ordered the corned beef skillet. Both also came out lukewarm. There was too much cheese broiled on top. It was as if they were running low on corned beef because half of the pieces were just fat! Really unappetizing. The only dish that came out nice and hot was the dish that came out over five minutes after the others. Service was poor. The place was busy but not any more than usual. Time to find a new place for breakfast. read more

I have been brunching at this location close to 25 years. Nothing has changed much which is good for "comfortable food".

A little on the pricy side. But I have to say its a pretty cool breakfast spot with a really decent menu. Check it out.

I come here with my mom at least once a month! We always get the Crab Panini which is totally to die for!!! Fresh crab for $9.00 and it comes with a huge side salad. A tip, come at 2pm and you have the whole place to yourself. read more
