It was a long drive from Huntington Beach to Mission Viejo, but since the last time I ate there, I discovered they now have a location in Irvine which is much closer. I am grateful Irvine has a pancake house however this one is so packed. The first time I came here the restaurant was closing in 20 minutes so they didn't let me order. Then the second time I came here it was around 11PM & the lie was out the door and past the bank so I did not have time to order before work. So again I didn't order. Third times the charm they say, it is Asia's and I third time coming here and we're finally up early at 10AM ready to wait for our breakfast. We get here, it's a long line out the door nonetheless we are prepared. We are learning the menu so we can order once we reach the register. The menu is wonderful however you cannot really add or substitute even though we are clearly at a breakfast spot. For example, I wanted the S'mores french toast that came with nutella, graham crackers, and marshmallows but that did not come with any sides. So I decided to order the Eggcellent Turkey sausage with Eggs overeasy. My expectations were very high being that this place is so popular. You should have the option to have sides along with any meal even if that means paying extra. The food was good & that chai tea was yummy but I have to give this place 3 stars because of the long wait & strict rules for order breakfast. I want to like Stacks because it's a cute concept but it's just so disappointing. The line moves incredibly slowly...it's like the staff is surprised every day that there's a breakfast rush. the food is just okay, not worth the wait. And it often comes out in stages whenever the staff feels like delivering it, so we got our sides after we'd finished eating. So happy I finally got to try this place! Every time you come here the line is out the door so I wanted to see what the hype was all about. We arrived at about 9:10 AM and waiting for a half an hour to order. All of the servers were very attentive and offered iced water while we were waiting! We ordered one iced coffee, one brewed coffee, the lite bite w/ sausage, and the Portuguese sausage and eggs w/ home fried potatoes. Loved that they offered free refills on all drinks. I'd say the food is pretty much standard for typical good breakfast food. What I loved was the Portuguese sausage, kind of spicy but I prefer that and the potatoes were very crispy and flavorful! Scrambled eggs were just alright and the pancakes weren't anything special but they did off coconut and boysenberry syrups which was a nice touch! Why this place stands out to me is the amazing customer service! I would come back with friends and try the more special options like the loco moco! Tried this place for brunch earlier. There was a line (since this location just opened more than a week ago) but the wait was worth it. We tried the loco moco and mac*nut banana pancake. Both taste good and reasonably priced. This place is kind of small but it has enough outside seating so it was not too bad. Prices were okay too. The menu is regal as it is intertwined with American-Hawaiian display. It is the perfect next morning indulgence, great for friends or family & the staff is a delight. I must say, the Irvine location is much too small for the amount of guests they serve. They are kind & thoughtful enough to offer umbrellas in the rain or heat & also offer water for the long lines that arise after 10am. Came here this morning for the first time because of all the talk. The line was pretty long but it went by quickly. I recommend coming around noonish-1pm because it wasn't as busy. I ordered the buttermilk waffle and added Nutella ($1), strawberries ($3), and bananas ($1) and it was worth it! I thought I would need 2 waffles but one was more than enough including the fact that they put a lot of the fruits. I barley could finish it also. My friend got the crepe and it looked really good! This place is the kind where you wait in line to order and find a seat yourself afterwards. Servers will then bring you the food and refill coffee etc. Seating wasn't hard to find either.. inside and plenty outside. Price is around $10-15 per person, which is not bad imo! I really loved this breakfast restaurant. I ordered the captain crunch toast and their strawberry waffles. Aaaaaaammazzinggggg! Presentation was beautiful. Taste was delicious and their coconut syrup was sweet. The line was really long when we arrived. But our order came out surprising fast. They have outdoor seating and the weather was beautiful. The associates provided excellent customer service. Very friendly and helpful. While waiting in line they offered anybody a cup of water. They also help you pick a table and made sure it was clean and set up before we were seated. They offered refills for our drinks and also to take our trash. Customer service is efficient, attentive and friendly here. The food was decent. I ordered an omelette with a stack of pancakes on the side while my friend had s scrambler. The food was ok. Although I do enjoy a fluffy pancake, It was missing something and was a bit bland for my taste. The coconut and boysenberry syrup was a nice touch. I'm usually not much for gimmicky flavor items but I have to admit these were good and not overly sweet. Eggs Benedict was delish! Macadamia banana pancakes was also good. Tried this place for the first time on Sunday around 10:30am. Bad time to go but I'd say worth the wait. It took us about 40 minutes in line just to get up to the counter to order our food. My only critique here would be that they really need to have 2 cashiers to manage the line but not sure how that would effect the flow of orders that the cooks would have to manage. Otherwise, they had a pretty efficient system of assigning your party a table while still in line so that you didn't have to search for your own after ordering. We ordered the macadamia nut pancakes that were good but could have used more nuts to get that yummy nutty flavor. We also had the katsu chicken and waffles which was really delicious! (Not for calories counters) and The California Benedict but added ham to it and it did not disappoint. Yum! Overall we really enjoyed what we ate and are looking forward to coming back on a less busier day to try other menu items. read more

These guys are not organized. 1-hour behind on their tickets. Ordered a pickup thru postmates at 9:20am. Email said order will be ready at 9:45-9:55. Arrived at 9:42am...order was ready at 9:32am. The staff was ignoring the customers waiting in line. The staff was rude and did not apologize to the customers...they just kept saying it's not ready yet to anyone who asked about their orders. And my order was wrong when I got home. For taking as long as they did to make the order, someone should expedite and check the ticket before packaging up. One of the worst managed Stacks I've been to. I'll drive to Newport Beach or Dana Point from now on... and I live in Irvine across the street from this location. I've been in the restaurant industry for years now on the line and front of house and I've never seen such poor service. This is the service industry, right? When you get there you order at the counter then you find a free table and they bring your food to you. I suggest sitting outside unless it's not super busy inside. On the weekend it can get pretty packed. The food here was really good. I got the Florentine Scramble with the Lava Pancakes. The eggs where not over cooked and it was mixed so that you had a bit of everything in every bite. The home fried potatoes were good. The Lava Pancakes had this vanilla sauce that wasn't too sweet. The plate had a lot of it but just dive in. I think it would make a good to go place. Bottom line: the food is good and doesn't break the bank. Talked to the manager, her excuse was it takes about 45 minutes from time of order. I told her I did order early. The owner really needs to find someone who knows how to run the kitchen & front in a timely manner and not have customers feel as if it's their fault and not theirs. I don't think I will go back. The manager really didn't apologize for being behind or saw they did nothing wrong...or give me a discount or anything. Very disappointed.
