We stopped during the week, we arrived were seating promptly. We ordered immediately but it took 20 mins for our food to arrive, it looked as if they had microwaved it because it was dry and sloppy. The waitress came once only to check , customers who came later in bigger groups were seated immediately and food had arrived faster then when we were served. We left an entire plate and informed them of the food not being great and it seemed as if they were annoyed we said anything. This place gets super busy which I don't understand why since their food is not that great. I ordered the mexican omelette and the triple berry pancakes. The potatoes that came with the omelette was super bland. I had to add salt and pepper to make it taste a bit better. The omelette itself was cooked decently but the ingredients inside lacked inspiration and taste, it needed to have more a flavor profile. The pancakes came out looking gorgeous. They didn't bring out any maple syrup without charging you extra which is pretty sad. The pancakes were nice and warm when first biting into them but they had a weird after taste that wasn't very pleasant. The waitress was very pleasant but she was so busy that she rarely came to check in on us. She never bothered to refill any of our drinks and took forever to give us the check. We decided to head to the cash register directly to pay without having to wait for her again. Parking is also a bit of a challenge here, for the amount of time you have to spend on finding parking and ordering, it's really not worth it to eat here for me. I came here on a weekday morning with some coworkers. We were a big party and were seated in the back corner. The main con to this place was the wait time for our food to come. However considering how big our party was, it is understandable. I personally ordered the California Benedict and shared the banana coconut pancake. The Benedict was pretty good. The sauce was perfect, and the Benedict came with a hearty amount of artichokes. The portions were ginormous, and I could not finish all the food. The pancake was interesting. Chunks of bananas were mixed into the pancake batter and the top had coconut flakes incorporated into it. Sometimes the pancake tasted a little too banana-y, sometimes too coconut-y. Stacks used to be the "go to place" for a quality breakfast and decent service, unfortunately after the experience yesterday, my family and I will not be returning. The service was terrible, we asked numerous times for a glass of water and silverware and refills were never provided, despite our requests. We ended up having to take a fork from a nearby table because one was never provided. The pancakes and waffles were okay, the steak and eggs breakfast was horrible. The waitress asked how we wanted the steak prepared and we said medium rare. It was delivered well done, dry and tasteless. Our waitress never returned to ask how our meals tasted. When she brought us the check, we told her how awful the steak was and she smiled at us and walked away. We used the box provided to bring the steak home to our dog. Such a disappointing experience, no plans to return to Stacks whatsoever! read more

I grew up going here and it's always delivered the best The blueberry pancakes are so tender and fluffy and soak up the maple syrup, and they're bomb with compote and whipped cream (it's so rich and not the cheap kind of whipped cream but REAL whipped cream). The Mexican chorizo omelette with salsa and avocado with a buttered bagel side and the HASH BROWNS are a must. The hash browns are the kind where they look like they were grated and they're cooked in a big pile so the outside of pile is crispy and the inside is tender and soft. Nobody does hash browns as well as Stacks. The service is always good, and they offer free coffee outside while you're waiting to be seated. Weekends are always busy with a long wait time and weekdays are less crowded, as with most restaurants. Definitely recommend. read more

People come to stacks for brunch food but I actually absolutely love their crab melt! 5 stars for the crab melt! It's stuffed with real crab, avocado, cheese, and tomatoes. Every bite makes me go "mmmmmm" and it's pretty filling too! I can only finish half. The meal also comes with fries (and you can choose sweet potato fries for no additional charge!), salad, and fruit! All for about $16 before tax and tip. That's a pretty good deal. I've also had brunch food at stacks and it's pretty typical brunch fare, but costs are a little higher than other brunch spots. My family and I always love going to Stacks. The food is great -- and we are always treated nicely with prompt service. Today, my friend and I had absolutely EXCEPTIONAL customer service. Gerardo greeted us immediately after we were seated. He got us coffee almost before we finished asking for it -- and left us the pot. My friend subsequently asked for a stronger brew, and Gerardo was on it! It is rare to have such phenomenal service. Please provide him with high praise. Sad review. Food is typically good but service is getting worse. Waiter was absent, confused, couldn't remember to even bring straws when requested. When they arrived they were kids straws. I mean what am I going do with a kids straw? Blow bubbles. I had to get up from my seat 3 times because the waiter was "missing" and order from the front desk. Food came out and my wife was missing her food. When we asked about it he (our waiter) asked what she ordered and forgot to put it in. My food order was wrong and other items were missing. I get people have off days but this guys wasn't even trying. We filed a complaint to the manager and she was friendly and attended us for the duration but only after the complaint. It's a bummer since we visit often but now have to second think it. Not sure if its worth the gamble. May have to just make a drive to the other location in Menlo Park. read more

Have been to Stacks many times over the years but over the past few years, the service and food has declined. The place holds to a local spot where many go to; especially for brunch. The place is not hurting for business, especially on the weekends where parents take their kids. Yuppies abound and solo patrons covet the counter area. As usual, the wait to be seated would have you think your getting a free lottery ticket with every meal. In the past, you wouldn't mind the wait as the food served was of a better caliber then of recent visits. My associate had the California Benedict and I ordered the Reuben Sandwich. The food was served luke-warm, like the parenting of some of the kids that were allowed to roam the dinning area. The coffee was decent enough but both orders were "greasy" and the Hollandaise sauce tasted as if out of a can. Worst Reuben ever as if the preparer simply read it's making from an index card! The corned beef was chunky and the fat was not trimmed off. Very chewy in texture and the sauerkraut was not drained, which made it's overly greased bread soggy. We would have sent our orders back if not for the loss of our server who forgot our requested water and the refilling of our empty table milk container. Although she was very prompt in dropping off our bill even before we were done eating. This is my last trip to Stacks as it has become very mediocre and the service has dropped from a 25% gratuity to a 15% one at best. Too bad because it use to be better. Straight up advice- Don't go to this place. Today was my first & for sure last visit to this place. I ordered a veggie omelet & a protein smoothie. But instead I got a plate full of potato side & crushed ice! The omelet was merely there and the smoothie has all ice with probably a drop of nutella & piece of banana. Service was not friendly but I would accept that for a busy morning. I personally have never had a smoothie served without a straw. Yes, I had to ask for one. To top it all, I discovered a HAIR in my potatoes when I was about to finish eating. I called the server and showed him that.
