I would not recommend going here unless there is nothing else to eat. The food is mediocre; I could make the same dishes. However, the portions are big so that is a plus. In addition, the wait staff seemed very stressed and orders seemed to not go very smoothly, even when less than 10% of the chairs were taken. I felt very bad for our waitress, who knew what she was doing but seemed to be working with a broken system. The beignets were very average and the truffle fries were plain, boring fries topped with truffle powder. The burger was boring and tedious to eat. The omelettes were also just omlettes you could make. The bottomless mimosas were continuous though, so that's a positive thing. However, the orange juice wasn't quality or fresh. Overall, plating is nice, waitresses were nice, and food portions relative to the price were good, but the enjoyment factor is very, very low. Bought a table here a few 4th of julys ago. Asked the bouncer to smoke a cig outside, and told him I would be right back and that I bought a table. I came back after and they would not let me in and told me I had to wait in line. I tried explaining I had a $400 tab, & that I wouldn't pay if they didn't let me in... which I wanted to at the time. So they wouldn't let me in and I cancelled my card, and no I wasn't too drunk. I came back recently today and got 3 drinks for $30 and change. Left a $50 and the bartender took it without returning change. Not to mention the Paloma's were trash. Also the bartenders have tried to sell me cocaine several times. They do the bare minimum here, and it's all expired frat kids. If you want pull a stinky girl, this is the spot. I have never in my life been satisfied with this place, nor have I ever wanted to go back. Should change its name to 'bare minimum'. read more

Right now everyone is so worked to the nine and she made us feel Like she was excited to be at work and happy to be creating a memorable service experience. She freaked squeezed grapefruit for us and recommended the garlic knots and helped us design the perfect pizza . Just an over all service done right . They weren't good at all, tasted bland. I asked for garlic fries and paid $2 extra for garlic.. They sprinkled tons of parmesan cheese on my fries and no garlic in sight. Spent a few days in Newport and this place had good reviews so we decided to try it out. Came in for Happy Hour on a Wednesday mid afternoon. Sat at the bar and had a great time chatting it up with Alexis, Brittany and Jasmine (?). Ordered some food and drinks which was all great and couldn't beat the happy hour prices! Went to stag the other night with birthday party group. I've never felt more unwelcome and disrespected at any bar, let alone a bar in Newport Beach. This all had to with the lead Bouncer, who not only made one of us cry but insulted and cursed at us as well. Bouncer was completely rude to every single one of us, but the cherry on top was when the birthday girl lost her ID in the bar and the main old man bouncer wouldn't let her in to go look for it without an Id. A girl he had just let in 30 minutes earlier and had a conversation with about how rude he was. Bouncer (wish I knew his name but he looked like a 45 year old wannabe lumberjack) completely abused power, and almost seemed like he got off on being a complete jerk. Stag has lost several customers for life, and I'll let other locals know about this as well. With so many other options on the peninsula, maybe he should consider that he is still working with paying customers and should have some respect. In no circumstance should an employee, let alone a human being, treat people like that. Let's also keep in mind stag has the shortest line for getting into the bar. Maybe beggars shouldn't be choosers. I've heard Stag has been going downhill, but I didn't realize how inferior it has become. It seems like this bouncer has his own personal issues and should maybe choose another profession. read more

Some friends and I decided to check out this new bar and had a fab time. It's been completely renovated from what was there before, and it's got that classy retro look going on. It's also huge, with a long-ass bar that goes the full length of one side, lots of seating, and pool tables and other games. We happened to visit maybe a few months after they'd opened and that very day their kitchen had opened, so we were able to sample some of their food. We ordered some beers (decent draft selection), garlic fries and a few of their pizzas: margherita, quattro formaggio, and Genovese--they were all really good, with a good crispy crust and fresh toppings. Service was a little slow but friendly; I imagine they're still getting their bearings. I think this is a great addition to the area and I'm sure it'll be a mob scene come summer time. Not very often I write a two star review but here we go(feels petty but situation was avoidable)... it's Tuesday 630, the lady and I decided to stop by after having drinks across the street at sharkeez, first time walking in I was greeted by the bartenders, place looked okay but yelp had some appetizing pictures that caught my eye so here we are, took a seat at the bar and was asked to show ID, proceeded to pull out the ol' digi id (physical copy is waiting for me somewhere in the post office..) my lady had a physical ID and was told I couldn't be offered drinks they needed to see the physical copy ‍ bummer huh?
