I've been to stagecoach many times and they are always top-notch! Even during these crazy times, stagecoach remains very authentic and true to who they are. I ordered over the phone and my meals were ready within 15 mins on a busy Saturday morning. They are currently closed for dine-in, but have a small patio area opened in front of the restaurant. When I went to pick up my order I saw a lot of sanitizing going on as well as social distancing. My fiancé had the country friend steak and the position was huge! He also appreciated that the gravy was packaged separately. They have him about a 6oz cup which was pleeeenty. My sister had their 3x3 omlette and it was plenty for her to share with my mom. I had the club sandwich and wasn't very impressed. Bread was pretty dry, turkey reminded me of deli meat and the fries were soggy. Honestly I've driven by both locations so many times, I've always wondered how the food is, and on Sunday I finally gave it a try. This place, honestly, was better than what I was expecting in many ways. Move over Black Bear, there's a better place in town that gives you the same, if not bigger, portion size than you! The wait was the biggest concern for me while heading there. It was Sunday, it was brunch time, I was expecting the hour long wait that you get when you go to brunch everywhere else. Thankfully we were told 20-25 minutes and we slid right in in that time frame. Service came by often, and brought the food out pretty quick. As well as checked on how we were doing often. Food was good. I tend to order the corn beef hash as a "baseline" for new places that I go to, so I have something to compare. This has probably been one of the better places I've gone for it. It wasn't greasy and the flavor wasn't masked with "too many potatoes" or any other filler that may come in it. Did I mention the portion size is pretty big? because the picture doesn't do it justice because of how much was mounded onto the plate. Also as an option you usually get your choice of toast, or English muffin. Here, cut out the English, and you get the choice of toast or muffins. Yes, Muffins. I thought I was getting a blueberry muffin, but I literally got a bread basket with 2 blueberry muffins in it. Pleasant surprise. (Side note, I didn't get the pancakes, but my girlfriend did, and they filled the whole plate.) I hadn't been to this location in years as I normally go to the Florin Road location. We walked in and saw how busy it was, but we put our name down for a table and sat down to wait. After a few minutes I approached the host station and asked for the approximate wait time since we had a meeting to get to after lunch. The kids (and I mean kids) working the counter seemed a little bored even with all the bustle and commotion. I asked if they could give me an estimated wait time, and one kid said there were two groups ahead of us. I asked if they could estimate how long it would be, and the kid said maybe 15 minutes. I thanked him and went to sit down again. As I did, he said loudly, "We can't do anything about people eating." I hadn't raised my voice; in fact, I thought I had been pleasant. We left. Passive-aggressive nonsense like that doesn't deserve our money, and they don't deserve yours. read more

Been coming here for years. I needed to write a review because their Ultimate Omelette is amazing. Cooked perfectly, fluffy egg, sautéed veggies, sausage, bacon, ham, and cheese. This was my first time at this restaurant although I heard about the great food from people I finally made it out to Elk grove we made reservations and when we arrived everything went so smooth I didn't catch the names of the two ladies in the front on a Saturday morning that just passed ...they were absolutely hard working and very sweet the food our part ordered was perfect temperature perfect seasoning the food was absolutely delicious! Crêpes are bomb! Pancakes are huge and really yummy! Potatoes were fire! Yummmmy I want to give a huge shout out to my server his name was Jackson and he was Super friendly! IHOP, Denny's, and Black Bear has lost one customer and all I can tell. Was greeted as soon as I walked in the place with a smile and friendly manner. Wait time 15 minutes. Got seated and ask what I would like to drink. Didn't have to wait for a waitress to ask. I reviewed the menu and chose the Chicken Fried Steak. The waitress took my order and a few minutes later it was on the table. Hot, fresh, and delicious! If you haven't tried Stagecoach in Elk Grove- don't. I want to keep this gem to myself. read more

We recently started going to Stagecoach (last 18 months) and are so happy to have discovered this place. It's a local gem and the service is always so amazing. I know the place is known for their breakfasts (which are very good) but personally I'm in love with their patty melt cheeseburger. So perfect in its simplicity, with lots of grilled onions and swirled rye bread. And the fries are standard frozen shoestrings, somehow they taste better than McDonald's. Maybe it's how fresh they arrive at your table? Because it doesn't take long to get seated and served, no matter how busy they are. And we've had great conversations, chatting with others waiting for their to-go order, etc. so don't be intimidated if you see a group standing outside. This place is tucked away in a shopping center and has all the breakfast favorites you can imagine. It's a small cafe with indoor dining. The staff were all really friendly and we were seated after a 5-10 minute wait. The menu is very extensive and they even have an entire vegetarian page. Their breakfast did not disappoint. The hash browns were great and I was pleased they had perfectly toasted bagels available. The portions are huge and overall the food looked and tasted great. I was so wonderfully surprised by this restaurant. The decor is very cozy - sort of a country-Western themed local diner. Service was warm, friendly, and efficient. The staff and customers all seemed really happy and comfortable. Locally owned too. Now for the food. As a mostly-vegan, I figured I'd be stuck with hash browns and a fruit bowl, or have to make an exception for some eggs. Wow was I wrong! Sitting in the middle of the menu was a dedicated vegetarian/vegan menu! Vegan skillet! Veggie Benedict with vegan option! Vegan burger! Loaded french fries with vegan chipotle mayo! The food came out and it was all really delicious, fresh, and filling. Basically, Elk Grove is pretty tough for vegans at breakfast time. This place is a gem. The chicken fried steak is dry and chewy and the gravy is too thick and too sweet with little to no flavor. Two stars Sandwiches are always soggy in my experience. Two stars Scrambles eggs are hard or undercooked. Two stars Potatoes are good. Four stars I go there for the local ambiance and am looking for a menu item they can't mess up. Decent food, but nothing amazing. My boyfriend and his family of 6 came here on a Sunday morning for his mother's birthday celebration. It's a pretty small restaurant, but the staff were friendly and accommodating to our large group. I had the stagecoach skillet which was potatoes, onions, bell peppers, ham, and bacon topped with two eggs. I ordered them over easy - one was fine, one was overcooked. The dish itself was lacking seasoning. The potatoes were also strange because they didn't really have any texture. It's like they boil them and then throw them on the flat top for 30 seconds - not long enough to get browned. The bell peppers were also more undercooked than I prefer. The portion, however, was very generous. Comes with toast. My boyfriend had the corned beef hash. The corned beef consistency was mushy. His potatoes were also really soft. The scrambled eggs were rubbery. Half of his potatoes were REALLY salty. Comes with toast. Overall, not sure what the hype is. Food was boring and mushy - maybe that's why it's a hit with elderly diners? Or maybe it's popular because there aren't too many other breakfast spots in this area. Their portions are big so you may want to share a dish or you'll have leftovers. It's located behind Denny's in a strip mall so there's plenty of parking. I wouldn't recommend or return by choice. There are way better breakfast spots in Sacramento that I'd rather go to. Tip: Get there around 8:30 to beat the crowd. read more

I mentioned that the food at the other location is way better and she made some comment on how the other location is too loud for some customers and involves too much frying.
