    BUYER BEWARE! I had an extremely frustrating experience with Star Nissan of Niles and would urge buyers to proceed with extreme caution. I agreed to purchase a 2021 Tesla Model Y at the listed and quoted price of $25,500 before fees ($27,778 after fees). Based on that price, I secured outside financing, arranged funding, obtained cashier's checks, and provided insurance while waiting through a week of delays, during which I was repeatedly told the vehicle was being "detailed" and "serviced." Off site. Communication throughout this process was poor, particularly with a salesperson named Ocean, who failed to clearly explain the vehicle's status. I was left repeatedly chasing updates and timelines with little clarity or follow-through. Once the car finally arrived and paperwork was actively being prepared, I was passed off to another salesperson, Josh, where it only went down hill, Josh raised the price to $27,795.63 before fees ($29,853.89 after fees) well above the originally quoted and advertised pricing (which had since changed to $25,888 online). I was told this increase was because the dealership would "lose money" if they honored the price I was quoted just two days earlier. Mind you, I only had to wait between the quotes because the car was "off site being serviced and detailed" When I questioned this sudden price hike, Josh stated that the listed price supposedly applied only to veterans or military personnel. This condition was never disclosed at any point, and I was never asked whether I qualified. This explanation was introduced only after financing was secured and paperwork was already in motion, making it feel like a retroactive justification rather than a legitimate policy. When I stated that I was prepared to proceed only at the originally agreed-upon price, Star Nissan refused to move forward with the sale. Bait-and-switch pricing, undisclosed conditions, and a complete lack of professional communication are a few ways to sum up Star Nissan. A reputable dealership honors its advertised pricing or clearly discloses all conditions upfront. Star Nissan did neither. I ultimately purchased a similar vehicle elsewhere through a transparent, no-haggle process at a lower cost, which only highlighted how unnecessary and avoidable this experience was. I would not recommend Star Nissan of Niles to anyone.

    Transmission held together with a ZIP Tie from Manufacturer

    Hi, Funny Story. I bought a Nissan Versa from here in 2006 but it was a 2007 model. I drove it until recently with no problem. Finally, transmission went out. I was told those new transmission are horrible. The Transmission place showed me that the manufactured of the care placed a zip tie to hold the chain in place for the transmission. Wow, I was shocked about how unprofessional that was and wondered did it cause my transmission problems. See Pic for evidence. The other thing is I would stay away from their service department. I had an exhaust issue where they wanted to charge $1200.00 to fix. My local mechanic fixed it for $90.

    If I could leave zero stars I would. When I moved to the area 20+ years ago this is where I purchased my first truck. The sales team and associates were amazing, helpful, always available. They worked for the customer, if there was an issue they would say come right in and we'll take care of the problems. I never felt I was being taken advantage of. In the last few years, I understand management has changed, standards and policies have changed like every business. However today was the final straw. We purchased out 2022 brand new fully loaded Pathfinder from another dealer. The truck has 7 miles on it. We've had the truck for 21 months give or take. This morning we made an appointment at Star because we did not feel like going to where we purchased it. BIG MISTAKE! The truck was dropped off at 9:20, before they even looked at the truck - the associate stated well you need your break line flushed - IT'S DUE That will be $189.00 - again the truck is 21 months old and has 14k miles on it. I stated it's not due, please just do the oil change and tire rotation. About an hour later we get a call from the associate, he sounded as if he was in a panic! He stated, your break line needs to be drained and also your back break pads are down to 4mm and they need to be replaced NOW! So I replied don't touch the break pads, I inquired wait shouldn't the front ones be worse they "normally are the ones to go first" he's said "well you must ride the breaks" I said "No", (again very panic voice) "Well you must do a lot of stop and go" I said "Ummm No" Well then you must be a go and ride the breaks hard" I said again "NO" ( Please keep in mind I've been driving for about 25 years and never was told I was a hard driver or ever had break issues ) I again stated " Do not touch the breaks or anything to due with them, When we went to pick up the truck, He started again I asked can I have my keys I will bring it to the dealer I purchased it from because obviously there is another issue going on if the back breaks are going so soon and so quickly. He stuttered like a fool... This place is SHADY AF! Do not buy a car here they will try to rip you off, they Will nickel and dime everything and try to sell you things that you don't need. The management sucks here they don't do anything - I'll get a generic response please reach out to the manger! No I'm not interested THEY ARE THE ABSOLUTE WORST - Shady 70's car salesmen - I'd not be surprised if this is breaks from another truck! Buyer Beware !!!!!!

    Dear Nissan North America and Star Nissan, I hope this letter finds you well. I am writing to bring to your attention a significant issue I have been facing with my Newly Purchased 2023 Nissan Rogue, which I purchased on January 30, 2023, from Star Nissan. The vehicle has been experiencing persistent engine malfunctions and CVT transmission issues, and despite multiple visits to various Nissan dealerships, the problem remains unresolved. The vehicle has been to multiple dealerships, and it seems that neither the dealerships nor Nissan Consumer Affairs have a definitive solution. The issues I am experiencing include, but not limited to CVT Malfunction, Engine Malfunction, the vehicle reducing its power and will go barely past 10mph. In addition, it started smelling awful the second time around. One time, my husband noticed on the security camera the headlight was also flickering. These issues have persisted even after multiple visits to different Nissan dealerships, where various diagnostic tests have been conducted. Unfortunately, none of these attempts have resulted in a successful resolution. I must express my disappointment and frustration with the lack of a satisfactory response from Nissan consumer affairs, dealerships and the Nissan service teams I have dealt with. This raises concerns about the overall reliability and quality of the vehicles, especially since this is a new vehicle. I understand that issues may arise with any complex machinery, and I firmly believe that Nissan is committed to customer satisfaction. This vehicle NEEDS to be repurchased back to this dealership, to NISSAN for its ongoing defectiveness, unreliability, and questioning our safety especially with my young children. I kindly request that action is taken as I can't be living with and paying for a defective vehicle with this engine malfunction and CVT transmission issues that are ongoing in my New 2023 Nissan Rogue. In light of the persistent problems and the fact that the vehicle is under warranty, I kindly request that you arrange for the vehicle to be taken back to the manufacturer. I have attached photos and a video of this situation. I have been to multiple dealerships as insisted by Nissan Consumer Affairs. I urge you to treat this matter with utmost priority and urgency, as the safety, reliability, and satisfaction of Nissan customers should be of paramount importance. Thank you for your attention to this matter. I look forward to a positive resolution as no one should be allocating costs to something that is defective and dangerous, especially being stuck in the middle of an intersection. I am hopeful that Nissan will demonstrate its commitment to customer satisfaction and address this issue promptly and satisfactorily. Update: This happened a 4th time on Thursday June 8th. Lemon Law, this car NEEDS to be taken back to Nissan. Nissan consumer affairs said it needed to go to a different dealership each time. It MUST be taken back. I got stuck again with my 3 month old.

    I had the most horrible experience with their service department. My 2019 highlander transmission…read moreneeded to be replaced and it was on back order for 3 months. They provided me a loaner. The loaner car was stolen from a parking lot while shopping on a Sunday. When I went in the next morning to discuss with the Service Director Mike Cooper, he says "Don't expect to find the car, it is probably on a shipping container going across the country". And then proceeds to ask me if I filed a claim with my insurance since I am responsible for the car. He then refused to provide me another loaner because he said they are out of a car. The car was stolen, how was that my fault? Long story short , the car mysteriously showed back up in the shopping mall parking lot 3 days later parked in 528 ft from where I left it on the next lot over. Funny how the GPS did work to track the car. Then Mike Cooper gaslights me to make it seem that I just forgot where the car was parked. I was with my husband and he remembers exactly where we parked. Plus If that was the case the car would have been found that night in the lot since the shopping mall closed at 9 pm and that would have been the only car on the lot with huge white letters on the back window stating Bredemann Service Loaner. So it looks like Northbrook Police wasn't doing their job either? I called Toyota Corporate to ask if they could help me with a loaner car and they just pushed me back to the dealership. They said they were going to make the GM aware. I never heard from the GM, but my car all of sudden had a new transmission and I was able to pick my car up a few days later after my call to corporate. This entire situation was sketchy from the start. As a result of this situation, I am no longer a Toyota customer.

Everyone I have dealt with has been courteous & very helpful & able to provide exactly what I have come for. I give them 5 Stars. I wish I could say the same about the service Dept for maintenance. The Castle Honda service is about as useless as anyplace I have ever been to. First of all as a dealer they charge so much more for any type of maintenance then other mechanics. I went here today to try and find information on the code for the navigation system in my car. I called and they said to look in the manual for the code so I poured through the Navigation manual & the owner manual trying to find the 4 digit code unable to find it I made a trip to the service dept hoping that they could show me where the information was in the manual. When I walked in the guy sitting at the desk was doing nothing. I asked him if he knew where the information was. While he was flipping pages he asked me if I bought the car there. When I told him NO I didn't he seemed to lose any interest or desire to even assist me. The only other time I used Castle Honda they did a half assed job on a repair for my car that needed work to fix it about a 1 1/2 weeks later. I was in Hyde Park at the time when my car alternator & battery died. I had to have my car towed into the Honda Dealer Downtown on 1111 N Clark Street leave the car & take an Uber home. The only reason I came here is because it's the closest Honda Dealer to my house. NEVER AGAIN

It was very clear to me that he was an advocate for me to enjoy the experience more than he was simply looking to make a sale. I had not purchased a used car in a few years and this dealership was new to me as it was out of my home state. He was very patient with me and while the car itself was very nice, it was Shahid's customer service that truly made me comfortable making the purchase. Shahid proved to be an outstanding member of the McGrath Sales Team. If you are looking for a vehicle, I would very highly recommend you ask to work with Shahid. You will not be disappointed.
