I frequent this location a lot. One employee is consistently rude to customers. The first time I witnessed her behavior, I chalked it up to "maybe she's having a bad day." However, it has been multiple times I have seen her treat customers in an unprofessional manner. She is impolite, and seems to have an attitude. Never smiles, never says hello. She calls out your name and doesn't even wait to hand it to the customer before setting it behind plastic glass behind the counter. And don't even think about trying to get her attention to get your drink. She'll ignore you. Otherwise, the service is fine. My drinks have been made correctly. I just can't believe someone would treat customers like that... especially customers who have sick loved ones in the hospital (as this location in located on NMH campus). NMH has other coffee locations with extremely nice workers: Dunkin donuts, Au Bon Pain, Argo Tea, Stan's Donuts, Beatrix, L'Appetito, etc. read more

This is a 24 hour Starbucks, and the closest one to my place. Because this is located on the ground floor of Northwestern Memorial, the people watching is pretty interesting - lots of dudes frantically running around in scrubs. I don't like that there aren't very many outlets for laptops here, though. And when I was here at 10 p.m., it was almost totally deserted... and I much prefer the atmosphere at the Rush/Walton Starbucks, which is packed and energetic at 10 p.m. This place just makes me feel sleeeepy.. I wasn't able to find a Starbucks wireless network here, but I was able to connect for free to the "NMHGUEST" network instead. read more

Rachel, Sarah, Jennifer, and all the other employees at this location have been kind and courteous to me every time I've gone here, which is very often. No matter how long the line is, if I see Rachel and Sarah working the espresso machine, I know the line will go very quickly. I've had bad experiences at other Starbucks in this neighborhood, so I go out of my way to go here when I need my fix. read more

Added stars for convenience and literally the only option in the area for when you can't keep your eyes open. This coffee tastes like absolute hot garbage most days. Don't dare talk to anyone about it because you already get enough attitude from them when they call your name to come get your $5 disaster. Starbucks isn't great for people that actually appreciate coffee in general, they just cover up their carelessness with sugar. Knowing this you might ask "well why would they even go there if it's so terrible?" 1. Sometimes you just need caffeine 2. This is easily the smallest Starbucks I have ever been to. It's almost like a hallway and there's usually an incredibly long line. The line's long so it takes forever. No good. There's barely any food selection - just a few different pastries, etc. As mentioned, the line is long and it blocks the coffee making station (cream, sugar, etc.). Not good. This city has Starbucks everywhere - I'd suggest going to another one. read more

This Starbucks location is located inside Northwestern Hospital and they consistently provide terrible service. During my last visit i asked for a decaf latte and they said they couldn't make any decaf drinks. So I asked how much caffeine was in a grande caffeinated latte and the lady taking orders said she didn't know. So I lectured her and the manager about how they should have the nutritional info readily available since they are inside a hospital. The manager said "we live in a paperless society so I can just look it up myself". What a bunch of BS and attitude! Hope they close that location and replace it with a mom and pop coffee shop that will treat people with respect. read more

I went in at night and maybe the 2 people working were tired, or simply hated life. They were slow, rude and seemed irritated to be waiting on me. I ordered the blackberry mojito shaken ice tea. I noticed that advertisement said it had lemonade in it. I asked the guy if there was a lot of lemonade because I didn't care for to much. He just sorta stared at me and after a minute said "yeah there is lemonade in it" I repeated my question and he acted like he was just stupid? For lack of a better word. I told him I wanted a grande and when he started ringing in my order he repeated it back "ice peach green tea, venti". I said NO I ordered the blackberry mojito and a grande. The girl making it clearly was just as unpleasant. She offered no communication and when my drink was done she put it in the counter...no calling my name, the name of the drink....nothing. If I ever find myself needing/wanting a Starbucks this late again I will Pass before I go back to this location read more

This new man they hired is in his 70s. I'm not discriminating but he can't hear so maybe he should have a job other than cashier. Also, he doesn't party attention. I paid with a gift card my friend gave me, she didn't know how much was on it.,I waited for the guy to offer me a receipt or just give me an ok on the card. I stood there like an idiot but he already switched to someone else. Then people in the line called me back and I went back like an idiot after he loudly announced that there wad no money on the card. Ugh! I love Starbucks but this location is the worst! The line is always long and the staff are rude and snobby. Get over yourself, you work at a coffee shop!! Also, I have never waited less than 7 minutes to get my drink. They have about a 50% accuracy rate on making it correctly too. Starbucks is starbucks, but the extended hours and friendly service at this location definitely makes it stand out. Even when they're super busy in the morning, I find that they're pretty well organized and I never have to wait too long for my drink. The caffeine is absolutely necessary to help me power through med school. read more

Horrible customer service. Manager flat out said no to refill on hot coffee because I have purchased espresso drink. On the Starbucks policy it clearly states that refills are free for members regardless of what the original drink is as long as im getting refill on brewed coffee (hot, Iced Coffee or Cold Brew), and tea (hot, or iced). read more

I absolutely love this Starbucks location! It was kind of tricky getting in since my friend and I couldn't find the main entrance but sure enough it is the main entrance of the hospital. The staff is so nice and boy, they know how to make good drinks even at 2 a.m.! My friend tried their tiramisu latte, and he absolutely loved it! I just got my dark black coffee. I like how you can use your Starbucks card here but be aware, they don't follow any of the promos! So sad. If you are looking for a good spot to study, this location is the perfect place! It has free wifi, good drinks, comfy seats as well as counter seats! It has such an academic vibe to it that it just makes it perfect! I definitely recommend this Starbucks. read more

Some staff are nice enough - and by nice enough I mean not complete jerks. Unfortunately, a few apples spoil the lot. First of all, I've been there several times and never had an actually good cup of coffee. It shouldn't be that hard to make an iced coffee with breve and whipped cream, but apparently it's hard here. Add that to the fact that if you step off of their carpet, you are no longer eligible for a refill. Never mind that you've been sitting for a half hour within spitting distance of the barista - if you're on the tile, you're out of luck. I was also charged extra for half&half, which I don't think has ever happened to me before - and then they put maybe a 1/2 teaspoon in my coffee. Why charge 60 cents for something that I could add myself from your counter for free? Also, why go to Starbucks at all when there's a Dunkin right across the way, especially if you're not allowed to get refills if you use the restroom or can't find a seat in their 10-chair sitting area. I'm very disappointed with the service and quality of this location, and plan to get my fix elsewhere in the future. read more

Awful and unprofessional! I stopped at this Starbucks 12/31/15 around 7:30 am. My order was very simple, a tall blonde roast. At this time I was asked to step to the side and wait for my coffee which I had no problem doing until I noticed the flow of people who came way after me getting their drinks while I was still waiting. During my waiting period I noticed that the employee who took my order was too busy talking to another customer who was either a friend or regular patron that she was not paying attention and had forgotten my order. They were engaged in conversation and I even heard the employee offer up a free breakfast sandwich and proceed to go make it. I don't care about employees giving out free food but what I do care about is having a paying customer waiting while you do so. I finally went to the counter and asked about my tall blonde roast which was obviously forgotten about and I was told to go to the other side of the counter, which I did only two have two more people served ahead of me before I finally got my coffee. I will never go to this location again!!!!!!!!!! too bad zero stars is not an option because I would like my 1 star back. read more

So, I just moved downtown really close to Northwestern Memorial Hospital. I discovered a 24hour starbucks there. I have always had great experiences when I go to this starbucks. The lines are hella long which is intimidating but they have a system where they take your order like a drive through so that by the time you get through paying, your drink is ready! I recommend this starbucks to anyone that lives downtown. I used to go to the one on michigan avenue but my drink always tasted terrible from there. But at this starbucks I haven't had a bad soy latte yet! read more

Being a student at the med school, I frequent this Starbucks location often. The staff is nearly universally friendly. They make drinks right, consistently. It can get crowded/slow at lunch time. And it's open 24 hrs! (Though you have to access it through the hospital's main entrance with an ID after hours). There's not much that differentiates Starbucks locations other than good service, and this one has it! read more
