Corn Crème Brûlée and Chef Daniel's au Gratin Potatoes**

The ambiance and service were easily the stars of the evening. Every staff member we interacted with was warm, attentive, and genuinely seemed invested in making sure we had a great experience. The hospitality alone made us feel well taken care of throughout the meal. The drinks and starters were absolutely *chef's kiss*--full of flavor and a great start to the evening. Unfortunately, the entrees didn't quite live up to that same standard. They were good, but ultimately a bit underwhelming and not especially memorable, particularly for the price. That said, I still enjoyed my overall experience and would absolutely return. The exceptional service and inviting atmosphere make it worth another visit, and I'd be interested in trying different entrée options next time. Not every dish can be a winner, but the staff and overall experience definitely earned a second chance.

Lots of parking available! Came here on a weekday but was still busy. The bread was soooooooo good! Very flaky and buttery! I could have this everyday. Filet mignon was super tender and prepared to perfection. Sides are slightly on the salty side for me, but still tasted great. Appetizers come in pretty good portion.

We celebrated our anniversary at Steak 48, and from the moment we arrived until the moment we left, the experience was exceptional. We had a 9:00 PM reservation and ended up arriving about 10 minutes late, but we were still seated promptly. Valet parking was only $11 (plus tax), and the attendants were friendly and efficient. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted with "Happy Anniversary!" and a handwritten note from the General Manager congratulating us on our celebration, which made the evening feel extra special. Our server, Victor, was fantastic. He congratulated us on our anniversary and provided attentive service all night. I'm not much of a wine drinker, but with their impressive wine selection, I wasn't sure what to order. Victor recommended a wine that paired perfectly with my meal, and I ended up really enjoying it. The restaurant itself is absolutely beautiful and elegant. Between courses, we were given warm lemon towels to refresh our hands, which was appreciated. We started with the Caesar salad, which featured a perfectly poached egg on top--a delicious twist on a classic. The crispy croutons were incredible. We also ordered the Chicken Fried Lobster Tails, and I have to say... they absolutely lived up to the hype. We have literally been thinking about them every day since our dinner! For our entrées, we ordered steak and salmon. The steak was cooked medium-well exactly as requested--perfectly tender, juicy, and full of flavor. It arrived on an incredibly hot plate that kept everything sizzling throughout the meal. We paired it with the mac & cheese, whipped mashed potatoes, and broccoli. Every side was delicious, especially the creamy mac & cheese. Even though we were completely stuffed, we couldn't pass up dessert. The Red Velvet Bread Pudding was amazing and the perfect ending to the meal. We couldn't finish it, but the staff happily boxed everything up for us to enjoy later. To top it all off, one of the staff members even offered to take our anniversary photo, so we were able to capture the memory without having to ask. Every detail made this one of our favorite dining experiences. Steak 48 knows how to make a celebration feel special. We're already planning our next visit... and honestly, those Chicken Fried Lobster Tails alone are worth coming back for! Also worth adding the restrooms were clean, heated seats & a bidet.

Another 10/10 experience at Steak 48--still the best steakhouse and my favorite restaurant in San Diego. We came in to celebrate my birthday, and everything was exceptional from beginning to end. The bread was a 10, the oysters were a 10, the shrimp cocktail was a 10, and both the ribeye and filet mignon were cooked perfectly. Dessert somehow kept the streak going: the key lime pie and butter cake were both outstanding. This visit was especially meaningful because it was our first time dining here with our new daughter. The team made the evening feel genuinely special, including a handwritten birthday card that was such a thoughtful touch. The food, service, atmosphere, and attention to detail are consistently on another level. Steak 48 continues to set the standard for steakhouses in San Diego. An exceptional birthday dinner and another unforgettable experience.

Such a great meal! I really LOVED their beet salad and they gave us a complimentary dessert for our anniversary. Great service as well - definitely will be back!

Greeted inside by a wine wall and attentive host staff, you immediately are transported into an elevated experience. You wouldn't know you were on a busy intersection once inside. Our wait staff was helpful, attentive and had wonderful recommendations. Food: - Maine lobster escargot - good but probably wouldn't order again. Nice chunks of lobster prepared like escargot. - torched scallops - superb, delicate, tender. - complimentary bread - kinda tastes like Pillsbury crescent rolls tbh but good nonetheless - NY Wagyu 14 oz off menu. Wow. Perfect marbling so it's rich but not crazy fatty like a Wagyu ribeye could've been. Our server recommended it and she was spot on. Temperature was great. - crème brûlée corn - elevated cream corn. Just sweet and rich enough. - hasselback potatoes - I don't think I could not find a better version of this. Tender potato with super crispy exterior. - Lou Lou's dessert (complimentary for our anniversary) was so good but we were soooooo full. Had several bites and didn't want it to go to waste so got it packed up for us to eat later. - drinks were all good and plenty stiff. This isn't an average steakhouse. Self parking is pretty non existent, so get lucky or plan for valet. We just got back from Japan so I was happy to see Toto toilets in full effect though I didn't need to use it. The bar is massive and was packed for a Friday night.

There are certain key milestones in life where the gravity of the moment requires a culinary celebration that transcends the physical food and engages the emotions. Steak 48 absolutely lived up to that calling as my wife and I were celebrating our 10th anniversary together. I booked a reservation 2 weeks out online. Steak 48 has a strict business casual dress code. From the moment we walked in, the service was fantastic from our hostess to busboy to waiter. We were treated like VIPs which really elevated the whole experience. The interior is immaculately classic with that "old money" subtle vibe. In addition to a world-class butchery, steak 48 also has a fantastic fresh seafood bar. As with any elevated dining experience, my philosophy and recommendation is always to order a wide variety of dishes and curate them in partnership with recommendations from our waiter. This experience was no different. My wife and I ordered the house bread, roasted Brussels sprouts, and hasselback potatoes for sides and appetizers. For mains we indulged in a dry aged prime bone-on rib eye, shrimp, and each ordered a lobster tail from the fresh seafood bar. Cocktails were also ordered. We ended with a complimentary anniversary dessert. The highlights were the dry aged rib eye and the lobster tail. It was a feast worthy of a king. I will most certainly be back to steak 48 to celebrate life's next milestone with my wonderful wife. We did self-parking for our first visit but I think I will use the VIP red carpet valet service at our next visit. Sometimes it's worth indulging to reward yourself for hard work. Highly recommend steak 48!

My partner and I had a lovely experience here for dinner. It was our first time and we were blown away at how exceptional the service was. We each ordered a drink, we also got the crispy shrimp, rolls, mac & cheese, hassle back potatoes and 2 types of wagyu. I thought the crispy shrimp was the highlight!!! It was so flaky and had amazing Asian flavor. I also really liked the bread as it tasted like a buttered biscuit. I ordered the mac & cheese which was a decent portion. I liked the flavor and texture. My partner really liked the steaks and thought they were supple. We also really liked the hassle back potatoes. The restaurant provided a complimentary dessert - we chose key lime pie. It had a nice tartness and it was also a way bigger portion than we expected. I would recommend this place for a special occasion or if you don't mind spending $ for a dinner out.

Five star experience all the way from a knowledgeable sommelier to a phalanx of servers and outstanding dishes, this is a $$$$ steak boutique that coddles you in all delicious ways and, surprisingly, with a lower ambient noise level. Comfortable tables as long as you're not too big. Outrageously decadent Brussels with bacon, whipped sweet potato (almost dessert), those crazy buttered potatoes where each slice hides a stick of butter... and speaking of which, those butter rolls are 100% addictive. Don't eat lunch that day because these are the calories you want to share.

One of the best steak restaurants I have been to. Of course it is coming from the guys who started Mastro's. Great decor. Amazing service. Our waiter and staff were tops. The steaks were amazing. The highlight for me was probably the best steak I have ever tried (it was priced that way) the special Snake River farm Wagyu Tomahawk.. the perfect mix of steak and fat you could ever eat. Cooked to perfection and sizzling hot. We ordered so many sides I am trying to remember my fav items .. hasselback potatoes (cream cheese sauce omg) sweet corn and the whipped potatoes (mashed potatoes) was amazing. Also the Caesar salad with poached egg another one of the best Caesars I have ever had. The mushrooms were ok. I also tried my wife's filet which was delicious but the Snake River steak was WOW! Share it with someone. Since we were doing multiple birthdays we tried a bunch of different desserts. Triple Chocolate Bomb was the best, the shell was sooo good. I avoided the marshmallows. Red Velvet cake and Gelato Cake were a distant 2nd and 3rd. Overall I would love to comeback!

Amazing food, horrible photo. Mushrooms, au gratin potatoes, 12 oz filet mignon. Very good.
    Zen X.

The 12 oz filet mignon was cooked to perfection and didn't need anything. (I don't like when places serve their steak with sauce on it.) The au gratin potatoes and sautéed mushrooms sides paired well together, but we thought we should have swapped one out for something green. Service was okay. Nothing too special about the decor. But the food speaks for itself.

Food: - butter rolls (on the house) 10/5 so soft and buttery! It was one of the best I've had! - Wagyu tartare with some pita bread and additives 3.5-4/5 - 45 day dry aged ribeye steak 5/5 - buttery and nutty - veal chip 5/5 - super soft and moist - scallops with caviar appetizer 10/5, although the scallops and super bite sized it has a kick of an amazing ocean flavor with texture - chef Daniel's au Grau scalloped potatoes 5/5 - wild mushrooms 5/5 - asparagus 5/5 Dessert: Carmel vanilla ice cream with cake and whip cream 5/5 Customer service: Excellent Joseph was a great server! 5/5 I would say one of the best servers we've had in a while! Thank you for allowing us to enjoy the evening! Ambiance: Romantic and beautiful! Highly recommend any event or setting! We will be back soon! Reservations highly recommend! They were packed! Parking is abundant Bathrooms have a bidet

Yummy dinner rolls in a takeout container
    Alyssa S.

Review is for a takeout experience. They got rid of the outdoor seating that Searsucker had - & we were celebrating a birthday and wanted a homey atmosphere anyway. Hostess was great. They don't normally include their delicious (complimentary) dinner rolls in a takeout order, but can add them on request. Food: DINNER ROLLS: *Delicious*. Carby goodness. STEAK: Everyone was very happy SEABASS: I don't eat meat, but I would not recommend the seabass. Very expensive. A giant hunk of fish - but (steakhouse style, I guess), there was absolutely no sauce on it and it tasted a bit fishy. Maybe I was supposed to pay another $6 for "chardonnay butter" in addition to $67 for the lonely piece of fish? I used some of the truffle butter that came with the Hasselback potatoes and then made it more palatable. POTATOES: We got --Hasselback ($19): extremely delicious. Very large. This and the dinner rolls were great. --Baked potato: not quite as exciting as the hasselback, but a very nice example of a loaded backed potato. I don't think you need to pay $16 for this as opposed to having something you can't get everywhere (like the Hasselback). Overall, the dinner showed me that steak-eaters like it - and that it's not for a pescatarian like me. But I was very happy with the rolls & the yummy Hasselback potatoes!!

How are the steaks prepared? Salamander (double sided broiler), skillet, over wood or charcoal?

You can choose I did not see wood, but you can see the kitchen so easy to watch your steak cooking!

Can you eat in the bar at Happy Hour?

We do have our full menu at our bar, but we do not have a happy hour menu.

What entrees are available for a vegetarian diner?

Not much, but you could always make a meal out of their side dishes. They have plenty to choose from.

    How much for valet?

0 -tips only Someone said it used to be $20 -but no one was keeping track when we left.…

Do you have gift certificates available for purchase and if so, in what increments are they sold?

We do, you can get them online or in the store at any amount you would like.

Did I hear correctly that a corkage policy is now in effect, but it's $85? Unbelievably arrogant

My experience has been that "Arrogant" is an excellent choice of words when describing the management climate of this store.

Despite their over-the-phone assurance prior to that visit that a particular menu item, Crab Stuffed Tiger Shrimp, was available, it was not. I wrote a Yelp review describing our experience that day and quickly got a very nice message (I assumed from management) expressing their desire to make things right but that response was taken down in less than 24 hours before I had a chance to reply. Fast forward to a couple days ago, August 3rd. A much-cherished friend and I had to be in the Del Mar area on 8/3, so a week before, I called them and asked if the stuffed shrimp shown on their menu was available and, if so, were there any time restrictions. The person I spoke to stated that it was available and could be ordered any time we came in. I was so happy to hear that after not being able to get it at the IB location. When we went to the Del Mar location on 8/3 in the afternoon, I tried to order it and was told by the server, who was not at all friendly, that the kitchen was closed until 5:00pm and that we could only order off the Oyster Bar menu. Note that the online hours don't state that the "kitchen" hours are different than the "Oyster Bar" hours. Perhaps that explains why the woman over the phone stated that the stuffed shrimp can be ordered at any time. If this is true, I respectfully suggest they update the hours shown online. Quite disappointing that once again despite reassurances, I was not able to order my favorite thing on the menu that's always available at the La Mesa and downtown San Diego locations (regardless of the time) AND is also on the IB and Del Mar menus. Our server on 8/3 was not the least bit welcoming but everyone else was nice. He came by quickly enough upon us selecting our table but didn't bother to welcome us even or introduce himself and after 15-20 seconds of uncomfortable silence, he finally just asked if we wanted something. To his credit he did bring us what we ordered (except the shrimp of course!) fast enough but after that walked by our table many times and only stopped by once when we flagged him down and once after that to tell us he was leaving and that Gabby would be taking over....maybe hoping that we would close out right then so as not needing to share his tip with her. We were not done yet, so Gabby did take over and she was terrific; and quite a contrast to the original server whose name I never got. I'm a South County resident so not at all likely to return to the Del Mar Brigantine in the future especially knowing the shrimp might not be available. My final comments...and sorry for being so "wordy" here is that the doors facing the racetrack were wide open which let in the very warm and humid air so the ambiance was not comfortable. The restaurant itself is pleasantly clean and beautifully decorated.

It's perfect. Not greasy and all the ingredients are of the highest quality. Service is great! Everyone is friendly and will give tons of details about their product (there's a butcher shop as well). Come enjoy this gem.

I sat there patiently, and the female employee came to the register to take my order after a while. I ordered my burrito... we had a choice of bacon or chorizo at the included price. Carne assda was three dollars extra or if I wanted all three meats it was five dollars extra. I probably should've not done this, but I paid for all three. I walked around while I waited. After seeing everything in the entire place, I took a seat near the Pick-up counter. While I was waiting there, the guy who was cooking was complaining about so many things. The one thing that really was upsetting is he said something along the lines of "people have to wait for their food anyways." this guy is angry and bitter, and does not like his job. The wait was oddly long I was tempted to ask them to cancel my order but I waited. The Third employee handing me my food with a smile in a box no bag no napkins no nothing. I guess those were self served, but would've been nice if he had said something because I got home and didn't have napkins or anything. The icing on the cake is paid for three meat definitely there's no bacon in here and I think I found one piece of Carne Asada so I paid five dollars extra basically for a chorizo burrito . There's hardly anything inside of it. I taste more tortilla than the inside. This was the most disappointing burrito. I think I've ever had in my life. I should've gone to the taco shop and gotten a much better burrito. Shame on you, Ranch 45. I don't have the energy to call you or go back and why waste my time and money coming back to complain. Our last visit also took a ridiculous amount of time for one pastrami sandwich. I was waiting in the car while my husband went in. Sad to say I doubt I'll be back here ever again. Step up your Customer Service step up the execution of your beef. Stellar quality meat is not enough. You need to execute and have staff that isn't complaining with an earshot of the customers.

I was quickly seated and able to choose any table I wanted, so I picked a little spot in the corner where I could enjoy some much-needed "me time" during my vacation while my daughter played at the beach. I asked what she thought would suit the mood for my solo lunch date, and she immediately raved about the empanada and sangria, so of course I went with her recommendations. The empanada was absolutely phenomenal, and I'm so glad I listened to her! I also enjoyed the two sauces it came with and the salad. It adds a nice touch to the hefty little beef empanada (also packed with flavor!) I also have to mention the ambiance. The seating is so cute, there's plenty of shade, and you're right by the beach. It's giving relaxation, positive vibes, and genuinely great food. Hawaiian reggae is playing and it's definitely a sign to come back because it's my favorite genre. I already know I'll be coming back the next time I visit San Diego because there's so much more I want to try here. The squid ink ravioli is at the top of my list, along with the baby chicken and the chef's choice soup of the day. Bella, thank you for making my afternoon brighter than I anticipated. From a mom who really needed a little break, a delicious meal, and a great conversation with a stranger, I cannot thank you enough. You made my solo lunch date feel extra special. See you again when I'm back!
