Went up to the bar on Saturday night instead of waiting the 35-45 minutes for a table downstairs in the restaurant. So glad we did! There was one bartender, Austin, who was super friendly and still got the job done with a bar area full of people...all by himself. Sure, servers brought the food up, but he got the orders in and drinks served in spite of standing room only in a timely manner. We went last night. We were told it was a half hour wait. 45 minutes go by and my husband asks the hostess where we were at in line. She said 3 parties ahead of us. 9 parties later, I go ask the same hostess the same thing. She says we are next! Great - 8 parties later we finally are seated. The waitress was nice, but so busy that we didn't get but one refill on our drinks - wouldn't have been so bad except it took 40 minutes to get our food. The food - shrimp was subpar. My husband was like we could have saved a 100 bucks and 2 hours of time if we had just gone to the frozen section of Wal- Mart. Not sure what the fuss is with this restaurant. Right when me and two of my colleagues walked in, the host asked us if we wanted to sit inside or outside. We said inside. This man then proceeded to roll his eyes and annoyingly said "it's gonna be a few minutes" then walked away. So, we then saw the bar area. Plenty of open tables. He walked towards the back to get the table ready I'm assuming- along with "handling" his temper tantrum for having to do his job. We decided it'd be easier to just sit at the open high top at the bar area. Dwayne (his name) then comes back to our high top. He says "y'all can't read the sign that says Please Wait to be Seated??" We said "oh we are sorry. We just thought this bar area was seat yourself due to all of the open tables. And it's usually that way..." We laughed trying to apologize and make light as well. Fully prepared to move, as well! He rolled his eyes. Scoured. Then dropped the menus on the table. This man we then figured out is a MANAGER. A. Manager. We are all 3 grown adults. We were all so taken aback at this man child's "customer service." Found out through employees he makes his employees cry. Get. Rid. Of. Him. Wow. The place is cool. The food is great. Nobody wears masks but I guess that's the norm. The food was fine but nothing special. Also a lot of bugs but not their fault since it's outside. The food here is Great. However, the wait is very long and could be worth it if you don't mind. We were seated inside and it was extremely cold as well as the table next to us. We waited about 30 minutes for a table on a Saturday night, with a lovely view of the gas station across the street. My wife had a hurricane and we shared the Low Country Feast for two. The service was pretty good, although they didn't bring her (very strong) drink until about halfway through the meal. The food came out very quickly. I really wanted to enjoy this, but it was pretty disappointing. The sausage and potatoes were pretty well spiced, but the shrimp was just bland. It didn't seem like they had actually built up the boiling pot with spices and just threw them on top of the food. Not our ideal version of this meal. We were treated with complete disrespect today by the hostess and the management staff. The hostess was completely rude to our kids and the wait time on the food was outrageous. When we asked to talk to management, management asked what do you want me to do about it with an eye roll. If you own a bar that sells seafood on a touristy island, and you think you can get away with serving "popcorn butter" as part of a $26.95 meal, you're probably right. It's just not okay with me. When I compare this against all the other restaurant options we had between Tybee Island and Savannah, the artificial butter is pretty much inexcusable. They earned a second star back with a generous portion. Beginning to end it was a three hour journey to get our food. But that's not really my concern here, the food was great! My biggest concern is that they do not have (or are not enforcing) any COVID-19 safety procedures in place for this restaurant. Sadly every single seat was packed with people just 2 feet from the next table. People were sitting in every seat at the bar, 40-50 people were outside all sitting right next to each other waiting for tables. They are not requiring people sanitize there hands at the door, there's no social distancing whatsoever!!! This definitely made me very uncomfortable. I've been to only three restaurants since March, but they Have done a great job of separating customers by only using every other table and making sure that people clean their hands when they come in. Had I known there was no social distancing I wouldn't have waited two hours for a table and then another hour for my food. I thought the wait was so long because they had their restaurant at half capacity to make sure that they were being safe but they were at full capacity. The hostess let us select our table since a few were empty. We decided to sit on the patio and enjoy lunch. I ordered the Grilled Mahi Mahi fish tacos and a sweet tea. My sweet tea arrived extremely fast! (Great server) My food arrived shortly after. The meal comes with fries. I've never had tacos and fries, but it was worth a try. The tacos were very good. The fish was seasoned and grilled well, not over seasoned. The fries had a bit of seasoning, so if you're not into seasoned fries you may want to request them plain.
