Been here several times, great family place. WONDERFUL service. Came this evening placed our order and got our seats. Started getting our food, salad and bread. Then it slowed down, we waited quite some time for our meat to come, and our final portions. We waited, they were busy, and it happens, didn't say anything. Next thing we know the manager came over to our table and apologized for the long wait, offered to heat everything up and comp our ENTIRE MEAL, we were a party of 8! Nothing exciting or fantastic ordered the roasted corn on the cob and came with side of melted butter and chunks of white stuff. Asked server what is that he said that's be because the butter doesn't melt all the way. Does he think I have a brain with air in it or half a brain hello...... I even asked is that Mexican cheese on it to give him a hint??? He was clueless and said it was unmelted butter. . I'm not coming back. Wood Ranch is still way better. Below is my first review and generally we give this place 5 stars. Tonight for pickup wasn't nearly as good. The cashier first was going to take payment from the person who literally just walked in the door while I had been standing in line for a couple of minutes already. Then she took my payment and walked away. I sat down at that point. The order was supposed to be ready at 6:45 and I paid at 6:43 and figured a couple minute wait was standard. Nearly 15 minutes later I asked if my order was ready and it as sitting on the shelf ready the whole time. I would have asked for a refund and left the food if it want for a party my daughter was heading to. First time here tonight and loved it. Great food quality and prices with a ton of variety. Everyone from the cashier and host to the managers and food servers were very well versed on the menu and extremely pleasant. We will go back for sure! read more

I've been putting off coming to Stonefire just because everyone I know who has gone has just said it was 'meh', and I havent had the budget to try out just 'meh' for myself. When I met a guy who LOVED it, I was kind of excited to try it on someone else's dime so to speak...er, well, no, actually literally on someone else's dime. It is a little off putting as a first time consumer, becuase you have to wait in line and then BAM it's your turn to order. So mush pressure to make up your mind, looking at the menu at the register... I decided on the bbq chicken chop salad and the guy at the register said the petite size will be plenty. For only $7 I was pleasantly surprised at the portion size and taste! I really didnt have the time to look at the rest of the menu but from the quick glance I did, it seems to be like a Bandits or Woodranch type place with better prices. I suppose not having to pay a wait staff they save enough to have more reasonable prices. The setup is similar to Corner Bakery (in Simi); kinda cafeteria-esk but the food is better. I was full on the petite salad and it was delicious! I'd go back. It isn't the type of place to go if you are looking for a nice night out but definitely family style or good for a casual couple night. read more

My boys and I come here occasionally, and we always enjoy ourselves. The pork ribs, bbq chicken, pizza and garlic breadsticks are to die for. The food is always flavorful and reasonably priced. The ribs,1/4chicken combo with a Caesar Salad is what I usually get. The garlicky breadsticks with the Caesar is almost a meal in itself. They also have combos for two or more. One of the only restaurant BBQ sauces i think is really good! Like, finger licking good. Their comfortable, partially enclosed patio is nestled under the spreading branches of a huge Oak tree. I would definately recommend trying Stonefire, another "something for everyone" kinda place, without sacrificing flavor. A tiny bit more attention to the patio customers wouldn't hurt, though. read more

My friends spoke highly of this place when we decided to come here for dinner. We decided to order the family style dinner. It came with ribs, pasta, salad, brisket and bread sticks. I would say the ribs and the bread sticks are the main highlights of the meal. The ribs fell off the bone and was very flavorful. The bread sticks were warm and soft. It had oil and some cheese. It reminds me of Olive Garden bread sticks but MUCH BETTER. Overall, it was a fantastic meal, and I hope to come back soon for more. read more

I've gone here for both work lunches and with the family. It can be a little on the expensive side but the food is always good and we always have leftovers. The lemon garlic salmon is so delicious. It's cooked perfectly and the lemon garlic seasoning is the perfect compliment. Their salads are huge so a petite size is more than enough for one person. Finally, you can't come here without having their garlic breadsticks which I suggest dipping in the ranch :) read more

I don't know if I'm crazy or what. But everybody tells me that stonefire grill is the place to go. They say they have great prices and great food. But when I went there, all of my high expectation were demolished. I despise this place. I ordered the boneless chicken breast. First off, I would like to say that it was the worst chicken I have ever tried. I literally thought it was chicken tofu considered how moist and watery it felt in my mouth. It was so filling and it just had a horrific texture. I cannot believe that is even on a menu in an actual restaurant because that was unacceptable. The only reason why I am giving Stonefire grill two stars is because my companions ordered the Tri tip and enjoyed it considering the cheap price. Overall, don't waste your time and money, everybody likes it here but I do not feel the same way. It has poor quality food and it was borderline inedible read more

So, here we are nine months after my first review and I can't say SG has improved. My husband stopped in to order a -- you guessed it -- blueberry topped cheesecake for me as a surprise. "We're sorry, but we're making the blueberry sauce. It'll take 10 minutes." OK, even if you were making the sauce from scratch, making it and having it ready are two totally different things. Even if it was being removed from the stove right that second, it would take at least 15 minutes in a professional blast chiller to cool it down sufficiently as to not totally melt the cheesecake. Secondly, the blueberry sauce tastes just like Comstock blueberry pie filling. I can't believe it's made in-house at this multi-location, busy restaurant. Even mom-and-pop places often don't have time to make things from scratch, especially with a busy customer base. My thoughts are that the blueberry filling had run out and no one wanted to take the time to retrieve the 5-gallon container from the stock room. You shouldn't be running out of product in the middle of the day, people, especially for regular menu items. Maybe offer us a discount coupon or something. For a family business, this is really sad. For any business this is really sad. We're not coming back. read more

Went in today and ordered a pizza which took about twice as long to come to my table as it usually does. I asked the nearest employee to check on my order. The manager, Michelle, came by and apologized for the wait and returned five minutes later with my food. The pizza was awesome. What really was awesome is that Michelle came back, checked on the quality of my lunch and gave me a gift card. I have been coming here about twice a month for the past three years and this was the first time I have ever had to wait a little longer for my order and was impressed that Michelle made it right. The employees have a McDonalds attitude. The guy behind the register never smiled once as he took our order or as he delivered the items to the table. I ordered the tri-tip and rib combo and attempted to order my tri-tip "on the rare side of medium rare" because I often find that when I order medium rare it arrives done medium instead. I was told that I could only order it rare or medium rare, but could not make any special requests. My friend asked if he could talk to the people in the kitchen or if I could write a note and he said no, there were no special orders allowed. I finally told him I'd order it rare, but probably have to send it back for more cooking and that seemed to make him happy. He took our order and turned away without explaining the procedure of picking up our own silverware and plates. Luckily I'd been to the Stonefire Grill in Valencia before so I explained to my dinner companion what we were supposed to do. She was pretty annoyed at the way he treated us. For those of you who don't know, here is the scoop. You need to grab a paper menu as you enter the building and join the line for the cashiers. When you reach the front of the line you will be expected to know exactly what you want to order, including the salad or sides. Once you've ordered, they give you a number and your drink cup. Keep walking and you'll find the soda fountain and near it the place where you need to collect you plates, napkins, and silverware before choosing a table you'd like to sit at. We gathered up our utensils and found a spot to sit and the same stone-faced young man delivered our food. We were joking about the fact that my friend says that Claim Jumper has average food and great service but Stonefire has great food and subpar service. The good news is the food was fabulous! The tri-tip arrived on the rare side of medium rare, which is how I wanted it in the first place. The rib meat was fall-off-the-bone tender and really tasty. The Greek salad was perfect as were the breadsticks. Frankly, the food deserved 5 stars, but we deducted 1 star for the fast food level of service. When we were done, we decided to make a quick stop in the restroom before the return trip to Bakesfield and here is where they lost the second star. I was standing at the sink washing my hands and my friend was in one of the stalls. We were once again comparing the food and customer service at Claim Jumper and Stonefire Grill when one of the Stonefire workers entered the restroom and went into the stall. We continued to talk about different restaurants customer service as my friend washed her hands and then it happened. The Stonefire worker flushed the toilet, walked out, made eye contact with me, then left the restroom WITHOUT WASHING HER HANDS. My friend and I were both horrified. Less than 10 seconds later we exited and saw that same worker, a busperson, was drying plates with a towel and piling them where the customers could come and pick them up. We immediately found the manager and told her what happened. She assured us they had a sink in the back where the worker could have washed her hands, but we weren't buying it. There was less than a 20 second period when she was out of our sight and there was NO WAY she had time to wash her hands at the other sink. We strongly suggested that they not only make the worker wash her hands, but that they rewash the entire stack of plates and launder the towel she was holding. The manager was talking to her after we left so I hope it got handled. I also hope she hadn't been in the bathroom before she dried our plates. Not concerned at all that this is a partially self service restaurant. With Caesar dressing like this place has - I'd chop the lettuce myself!!! I wanted to lick the salad bowl - best Caesar I've ever had. You must like garlic because basically it's garlic paste on lettuce, but if you are a garlic lover then it's a must try! So I went here a couple weeks ago on a Thursday night and it was not great to say the least. It wasn't the food more the service. We ordered a pizza, tri tip, salmon, and two salads, one to go one for there. ( this will be important later) So the first thing that happened was our pizza came out, briefly, until being dropped. They apologized and said they would make another. After this they brought the salads out. They boxed the wrong one to go which was all right but they tried to fix it in the most confusing way ever. They said they would get a new box and switch it, but the problem was that one was for here. So we were just like get a new plate, plate the one for here and throw the other one in the box. It took a couple minutes for them to figure out what we were talking about. We got that fixed up, and then the salmon came out. This too also became floor food as it left the plate midair and hit our table. To be honest this isn't the worst service I've had, but to give credit to the wait staff, they were all probably high school kids from the local high school which is like 3 minutes away from the restaurant. This place isn't getting 2 stars only for the hilarity that was our meal. read more

This was the first time I have ever stepped foot in a Stonefire Grill - every time I have it, I am always at a party that caters with Stonefire. If you are unfamiliar with the process, you order from the counter, sit down at a table and they bring you all your food. You have to serve yourself drinks and utensils which is a little strange but easy enough. The food came out fairly quickly and was really good. Love the portions here and variety of options, mostly heathy too. When I come here I usually get the trip tip combo that comes with bread sticks and salad. I truly could live off the bread sticks, so much better than olive garden. The staff does a great job making you feel at home in a casual atmosphere. If you are with a family they usually have a coupon out for their pizzas, salad, bread sticks, and either trip tip or chicken for $20. One last thing, save room for dessert they have the best brownies and carrot cake in the Conejo! read more

It took me awhile to finally get to Stonefire Grill over the years but finally I did and I'm comfortable giving them 5 stars for food and service for the price. The customer service is friendly, patient and helpful. I've tried several salads and my kids have tried the tri tip, shrimp and other items and we were all pleased. The ahi tuna salad was fresh and tasty. And what will keep me coming back is fair pricing along with good sized portions. The lunch deal was also a good deal. The only hiccup I've had is coming in on a Friday night around 7pm and pretty much all of the beers on the menu that I selected they didn't have, which was odd. They were also out of brownies, so we had to go elsewhere for dessert. read more

Ate here for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. The counter people were helpful and friendly, and though it was full, we found seats. Unfortunately, this isn't enough to raise my star rating. I ordered a cheeseless vegetarian pizza, a garden salad and a drink. The pizza was so gloppy with sauce (some kind of marinara mixed with barbeque) that I couldn't taste whatever vegetables were on top, and it was soggy and undercooked on the bottom. It got to our table very fast, making me wonder how cooked-through it could be. At most pizza places it can take 15 minutes to prepare a pizza from dough to finished product, and this was ready in half that time. The menu says "cheeseless vegetarian pizza," but when I went to the website today to read about the ingredients, it states plainly "there is a small amount of Parmesan cheese in our pizza sauce." The pizza is called "cheeseless," but it has cheese. So, it's not cheeseless. How horrible, but especially those with severe dairy allergies. Cheeseless means no cheese, anywhere. Sorry, but this is unacceptable. The petite garden salad was huge, but I am not impressed by the amount of food on my plate if it is not quality. I wondered if it was one of those grocery store bagged mixes--it was made of iceberg lettuce, almost shredded (shredded so small it had to sit on top of my fork, versus being able to be punctured--I would have been better off using a spoon), with dry carrot shreds and some cubed tomatoes. Much of the lettuce was brown on the edges. My tablemates' food looked far superior to mine, making me think that the vegetarian options are an afterthought to appease the vegetarian friends of the meat eaters who go here.
