First time here with a few co-workers. Their ordering experience is a bit different. You walk up to their front counter/cash register and order what you want and pay for it right there. Then they hand you a pager for your food and you serve your own drink and find a place to sit. In about 15 minutes or so, your food should be delivered to your table. I order a chicken pesto sandwich. It was truly horrible. Rubbery chicken with cartilage still attached. I asked one of the passing employees (I think his name was Cody?) if I could get something else. He was very nice & professional about assisting me but I felt bad to even have to ask in the first place. I couldn't eat it and had already paid $10 for my meal. I have now been here twice so the review reflects both experiences. This is an uninspired restaurant that fails to deliver real value. The food is fine but not really memorable. The portions are average but the price points are above average. A Cobb Salad with virtually no chicken but more lettuce and over diced tomatoes; ribs that are tasty but not distinctive and a weird combination of self serve and waiter service that is great at Carl"s Jr. and The Habit but not at a $50.00 + dinner ticket for two. What an incredible meal and outstanding service! I had Stonefire Grill cater a small family wedding on 11/3/16 and it was fabulous. Working with Melanie in the Catering department was always a delight! She answered all of my questions, set up a Tasting in Irvine so I didn't have to drive all the way to Thousand Oaks, got back in touch with me in a very timely matter. Our server, Ryan K., showed up on time, set up quickly, served and cleaned up (for an amazingly low cost) and made my job as the Wedding Planner so much easier! I will definitely be recommending Stonefire Grill to my bridal couples for a great Rehearsal Dinner or economically sound dinner choice with really delicious food. read more

I am giving The Stonefire Grill 5 stars, not because of their food, but because of their customer service. I take out food at least twice a month from this restaurant and I have been very satisfied. Unfortunately, tonight was a different story. I called and spoke to Daniel, the manager, and explained to him how unhappy I was with the quality of the food I ordered tonight. He immediately apologized and promised to make it right. I was so impressed with his professionalism. He was patient, understanding, and empathetic. That was the first time a manager took responsibility without making excuses. I hope Stonefire Grill knows what a valuable employee Daniel is and how lucky they are to have him. Daniel exhibited exemplary customer service. Wish more businesses felt that this kind of customer service were essential and beneficial to their success. The variations of flavor options for the Tri-tip and chicken are great and the value of the "family" meal deals make this a great place to return with a group. We did the largest family meal deal ($200) to feed 27 of us. Not only did we feed everyone, but we all took leftovers home. The staff was great and accommodated an unannounced large group like it was no problem at all. They set up tables on the porch for our group and within 3-4 minutes and got everyone settled in fast. I used to give this place a 5 star rating....but it seems like the quality of food and service is going down. I requested our breadsticks be changed twice, but the same thing---they gave us dark brown overcooked hard breadsticks!!! I then complained to the manager on duty Jake, but he insisted that, thats the way they make their breadsticks. I refused to believe him bec we dont normally get our breadsticks hard and burnt like that. Another issue was, the cashier kinda messed up our order, instead of a large south of the border salad, she charged us for the small. We were willing to pay more when we realized the salad they served was small but she said thats ok, they will just give us 2 small salads. When they served the other salad, I noticed that there was no avacado on mine, so I again asked our server why there was no avacado in our salad, then they delivered the avocado 10 minutes later. Our dinner was interrupted so many times that just made us lost our appetite. Upon leaving, I went ahead and asked for the name of the manager, I was really meaning to call the General Manager of this location because of the deteriorating quality and food and service. This manager Jake instead of being apologetic about all the mistakes his crew made on our food, he was more arguementative. He said ---"just to let you know, I was doing you a favor by just giving you a large salad and not charging you extra, defending the issue of the missing avocado on my salad. I said "hey we were willing to pay extra but you decided to give it to us anyway---so dont sound like we owe you that favor because we prefer to pay full price than owing you a favor and not even make and deliver our food correctly!!! Instead of making it right this Jake was giving us a dumb excuse! I find this manager very rude and unprofessional. If he will be the manager running this location, then we will not return to this location. Its like eating in a restaurant in a 3rd world country!!!! Never again!!! read more

Stonefire is great! Love the crisp salads, cole slaw, and the tri tip... but my favorite thing on the menu is the cheesecake (go figure??). The place is staffed by the most adorable squeaky clean kids who keep it clean and running efficiently. Bottom line: good food, good price... save room for dessert. read more

Ordered pizza to go... when i picked it up and got it home, the crust was about a third of the ENTIRE pizza! -- When I called and talked to the manager, he didn't even apologize, let alone offer a discount on my next pizza or a free desert or anything. In general I have always liked going to Stone Fire, but there are some things that bug me about the place. First, You can not order a small salad al-le cart. You have to order this salad that feeds over two. The only way you can is if you buy the meal. They offer a margaretta pizza with a small salad, but they refuse to offer the small salad with anything else. When you order soup and a salad, they repeatedly bring the soup before the salad, or the ribs before the salad. Even after asking them not to, they still do it and then expect a service tip up front. I am having a hard time getting my wife to go back there. The other night in her salad was a large piece of wax. We brought to the manager's attention and she had no idea where it came from. They were nice enough to comp the meal, even though we sort of lost our appetites. I wish they would give you a chance to eat your salad before the hot dish, they can't seem to get this. read more

They kept me waiting on hold to place an order more than 5 minutes so I called back, Then they informed me 2 of the sides I had chosen with my meal were not really sides for my meal even though they were listed as sides. We get our office lunch at least 3 or 4 times each month from Stone Fire Grill in Thousand Oaks for the last 7 years or so. Our office staff has grown significantly and picking up individual orders to go for up to 18 people has become a big task. We are thankful that the pleasant and helpful staff at S. Fire Grill has made it so much easier for us. Our special thanks to KELSEA for consistently doing a great job of putting our orders together, for being so accommodating, pleasing, and funny. I have been to this location a couple of times this year. It's an easy place to go with a large party or family. I have only had the meat dishes and have yet to try the pasta or pizza. I can say that the tri-tip cooked medium rare is fantastic. The chicken breast is also consistently good too. The service is solid. The servers are technically not waiters as you initially order at the counter and then someone else brings your food to the table. If you need to add something once the server has left your table, it can be a bit tough to find someone to help you, particularly if the place is busy. But this is a minor quibble. If you like trip-tip this and excellent breadsticks this is the place for you. Very reasonably priced too. read more

While I appreciate the attempt by a Stonefire Grill spokesperson to contact me my MAIN bone of contention IS THEIR SYSTEM. I don't know why some restaurants want to keep trying to re invent the wheel. To wit -- GIVE ME AN F-ING WAITER OR WAITRESS I can tip who will schlep me my food and drinks. That is all i ask but Stonefire seems to have built their business on a 'no tip' model and they tend to hire 18 year olds to work in their stores -- could it be that older, smarter folks don't want to work for a flat hourly wage -- and they can only get the high schoolers to work that hard without tips? I work hard at what i do. I don't go out 6 nights a week. When I do go out and spend, say 50 bucks on a meal for my wife and I I do not begrudge leaving an 8-10 dollar tip. In fact I'd RATHER tip someone to get me my extra water, and return the undercooked whatever and maybe bring me some extra condiments than have to get up and down during the meal to do this stuff myself. So unless Stonefire plans on NOT having endless lines and unless they plan on changing their system there is no need for anyone to contact me from Stonefire. The food is good. It's a GREAT take out place. But NOT a place for an adult to have a relaxing meal. Period. read more

It was my first time here at Stonefire. I came during lunch time. I've always wanted to eat here and I was very excited to try it. I looked at the menu before hand and the bbq chicken wrap sounded like it would be a great choice. I ordered and my food came pretty quick. The mash potatoes were great, the breadsticks were great, however the wrap was not good. I was very disappointed with the chicken. It was super soft, wiggly and almost seemed uncooked...It was cooked, just didn't taste like it. There was a lack of bbq sauce. Very light pink in color. I assumed with bbq in the name you'd be able to actually taste bbq. The wrap was bland. I opted for no tomatoes. Without them, I was left with a tortilla filled with a handful of iceberg lettuce, a ton of red onion and very little avocado. I think maybe adding black beans, cheese, more bbq sauce, tortilla strips, just more ingredients and well done chicken would have made my meal more enjoyable. I am definitely going to give this place another try and I look forward to a better meal experience. read more

Stonefire is an excellent choice whether I want a quick lunch or I want to eat out with my family. I've explored the menu and I haven't found anything that I don't like yet. My favorite is the lemon garlic chicken and the bbq tri tip. They have a really delicious and unique pizza that they call the Stonefire Favorite as well. The service there is always great, and they have a beautiful patio with heaters if it gets cold. Great overall experience. read more

My Fiancé and I come to Stone Fire for a relaxing evening and exceptional food and we always leave satisfied! We have gone to many restaurants but the service here is out of this world! Cody is the gentleman that helped us at the front to get in out order and he was so kind, patient and sincere with helping us throughout the night. I had to tell the manage just how amazing the food and service is every time we come in! She was also one of the most pleasant people I have ever met! I Felt like I had one of the best meals in such a long time because of the constant help from Cody checking on us making sure our food was perfect to the impeccable service the manger not only being so kind to us but to her staff. They have kids running the registers for one thing. I ordered a hamburger and he charged me for a double cheeseburger then waited awhile then got a double cheeseburger and it's also very pink and raw but it was supposed to be a cooked regular hamburger! So I sent it back for a hamburger, then waited awhile longer and I got a hamburger over cooked that tasted like propane. Ended up with upset stomach. read more

My bio teacher owns this chain. Yeah no investors, no stock trading, etc privately owned. This is good because the QC can be closely monitored. I really dig the food. Breadsticks are rad and the pizza is great. But there's nothing unique about this restaurant at all. Very good marketing went into the branding. However the food is DEFINITELY much better in quality than similar restaurants and i would say somewhat priced a little more reasonably. Not for broke college kids to be eating but geared more for the small to medium family. They're doing something right because the place is never empty! read more

I use to go here all the time and never had a bad experience. Last night I decided to take my mom out to dinner and we decided on Stonefire because we haven't been in awhile. Unfortunately last night was not that great of an experience. We walked up to a sign stating their soda machine wasn't working and apologized for the inconvenience. I understand situations like that occur and it didn't really bother me. What bothered me was the lack of problem solving that occurred. What also bothered me was how the food was presented to us. Our garden salad lettuce had turn brown and you could tell it was getting old...why serve it then? We ordered the lemon garlic chicken breast individual meal and there was so much sauce on the plate that when the server put the plate down the sauce went over the plate and onto my mom's shirt...there wasn't an apology and the server just walked away. I understand we all have our off days, but considering what all had happened last night it just made it a bad experience over all. I'm giving this review 2 stars because other than the lack of beverages and bad lettuce the rest of the food was okay and the young gentleman who took our order was very friendly. read more

My family lives in Simi but we often come to westlake/TO for dinner. We love Stonefire. There is options for everyone. Our cashier/server last night (Richard) was really friendly and made for a great experience. I let the manager know but wanted to give him a shout out on Yelp! The tomesto (tomato and pesto) pasta is delicious...we love the ribs....tri tip....breadsticks....Caesar dressing...my mom got the Mediterranean plate tonight. The good is just delicious...I also attended a party this weekend that was catered by Stonefire and food was just a great...can't say enough great things about this place! read more

I had a horrible experience ordering takeout from Stonefire in Thousand Oaks! I order salmon and asked for it to be blackened. The mgr. told me that they don't blacken the salmon even though I have gotten it that way in the past at least 5 times in the last 6 months.When I asked why they could not do it she said again we don't do that. I cancelled my order and sent an email to the owner Mary about the unacceptable customer experience I had. No one ever contacted me. This is a perfect example that Stonefire does not care about the customer I would rather give my money to a business that would show they appreciate their loyal customers. read more

We've been to Stonefire many times, including recently. Always have a good meal there and the pricing is reasonable. We have the Tri-tip and Salmon dinners with Greek Salad and breadsticks. It can be a little loud, but not so that you can't have a conversation. When it's really busy there can be a short wait for a table, but the turnover if rapid and the short wait, if necessary, is not an issue. read more

Stonefire Grill. This is not only a fabulous restaurant, if I were teaching a marketing or business class, I would take my class to Stonefire to show them how a business should be run. The food is good, I'll get to that in a minute, but the real star here is the service. I have never been to another business of any kind that "gets it" like Stonefire. Friendly beyond belief, but you can tell that as a part of their culture, the customer comes first as you are treated like royalty. On to the food. I have had many meals inside Stonefire, take out and catered meals, as they are my go to for large events that I am not catering myself. The hot tip for lunch is you can share any of the Small salads, yes small, with a friend and you get a great meal for around 5.00 each. As for the other items, BBQ, Mac and Cheese, Tri Tip etc. Not best in class, but very solid (reason for the 4 and not 5 stars). The reason you come here is because of the great deal on the salads, if you want reasonably priced BBQ, have a family or large gathering, need to have something catered, or need to be treated special. Who doesn't need to be treated special now and again! Also, they do not actually charge a tip, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't tip. Give because these people deserve the reward!
