I've eaten here a million times but never took the time to write a review. I've always found the food very satisfying and always hits the spot. Today I'm going to give it four stars for my first review for a couple reasons. First which is not only an issue at stonefire as most barbecue restaurants are not a great value for what you get. Especially considering stonefire is a semi fast food restaurant where you take a number and sit down. But the issue that's become more consistent lately is the chicken breast has been dry. I think I figured out today the problem as my relatively dry chicken breast was sitting in a large puddle of juice. I suspect it's because they're slicing the chicken before the meat had time to "rest". Maybe that small adjustment would make a difference. A couple months ago I had ordered a chicken breast that was dry to the point of being in edible in my opinion so I sent that one back but today was not bad enough to return. Their garlic mashed potatoes are usually delicious although today they were not on point. The breadsticks are always delicious... the only variability is size and the amount of the yummy buttery garlic topping which sometimes is generous and sometimes is scant. That's what gives it all the flavor so it's pretty critical to get right. Not purchased today is their carrot cake which is one of the best I've ever had. If you're splitting it and still have a bit of an appetite I'd suggest the large for two. Otherwise splitting a small is fine just to enjoy the taste and cap off a great meal. So guys I'll kick it up to five stars if you bring a consistently moist chicken breast to the table! read more

Probably one of the worst experiences I have had in a while. We had never been before, but went because our dear friends said it was good. We walk in and it was somewhat busy. Still plenty of seating. However there were many tables with dirty dishes on them. The host/hostess were busy talking to each other so we had to repeat things several times on our order. They never asked us if we had dined there before or explained anything to you like you have to get your own plates and silverware. There were four of us. My husband and I ordered the french dip sandwiches and were immediately informed there were no more french rolls and it would be on cibata bread. Ok... Then the couple that was with us ordered their choices. We pay and go sit down with a buzzer. The food came out piece meal over a span of about 45 min. Not all at once so we could eat together. It was ridiculous. First their meat came.... Sat their about 15 min. Then the salad came and we had to ask several people to get the dressings we ordered. Then the breadsticks came a bit later. Next came our sandwiches which were "ok" at best. By rhis time our friends meat was cold. We had to ask twice for the mashed potatoes and they brought us a small order instead of the medium portion which we ordered. It was just a cluster ****. Why would you not deliver thw entire tables food at once? So everyone could eat together? Simple concept right? Apparently not. I watched the same thing happen at several other tables. This was not a good first visit and unfortunely will be our last visit. We might have reconsidered had the food been good, but that was not the case. Take your chance if you like, but for the cost there are many better places where they care about customer service and the food is much better read more

Just OK... This isn't my kind of dining experience. First of all, its noisy and loud inside - - like a cafeteria. Its also set up like a cafeteria - - you got to brave the crowds through the aisles to get your own plates, napkins, water, utensils, and soda drinks. And when its really crowded, you're likely to spill or slosh something. As for the food - - I think its just ok. This time I ordered the Rib and TriTip combo with Greek salad. Everything was just ok. Ribs were cold... TriTip was a little warmer.... Greek salad was chopped, almost ground into a puree and was loaded with their Greek dressing. Just ok. I still can't figure out how the ribs and tritip were cold when they were busy as hell when I was there. Sure, you save a few bucks eating here, but I don't think their food and the hassle of dodging people to get your wares to eat your meal is worth it. Only slightly better than Wood Ranch! read more

I had the tri-tip here and it was god awful. I'm sure the meat was at one point decent but they obliterated it sometime during the preparation. I asked for it medium rare and it came out wet, cooked through as if it were boiled, and had no crust or any sign that it had ever seen a grill. Avoid this shithole at all costs. read more

Great family spot. Large portions and amazing breadsticks.

It really pains me to give Stonefire 1 star because, generally, I have loved this place for over a year. Until tonight. I go there literally weekly for the Trip-tip Stimulus Package. I always have enjoyed it. Every time. Until tonight. We brought our stimulus package home tonight and ate most of the steak, some pizza, and a few bread-sticks. My girlfriend ate a very small amount of salad. We cleaned up and put it all in the 'fridge. Later, I raided the refrigerator for a little late night snack of a big bowl of salad and I found an entire latex glove in the bottom of the garden salad. I was so absolutely disgusted and mortified. I freaked out and called my girl in and we were in awe of how completely disgusting that was. Was it dropped in? Was it used? I immediately called over and spoke with a manager. He seemed to be very ingenuously apologetic and offered to send me a 'comp' on the salad. The salad only... and not the entire meal. Like I want to eat any of those other tainted leftovers. Also, like I want another nasty salad from there. I am super disappointed that one of my previously favorite places is now going to be completely off of my radar for a long time. Bomb Tri tip and BBQ salad. Great prices especially for big groups.

I lunched here today at the recommendation of a friend. An interesting concept where the customer does the "work" of ordering, gathering their utensils, etc., and then the food is brought to the table. The service was friendly but impersonal, and the server who took our order seemed to be having difficulty fnding the right buttons on the register. The chicken sandwich with "fresh pesto" looked good; I asked for it without the caramelized onions. When it arrived, it came minus the onions AND the mozzarella cheese. The chicken was moist and tasty, although the wood-fired grill flavor overwhelmed the rest of the sandwich. The French bread was fresh and delicious. But....pesto? No. Arugula and other mixed greens, a couple of tomato slices, and some chicken. Not a shred of basil to be found, and certainly no garlic, parmesean cheese, etc. My companion had the same sandwich and pronounced it "odd-tasting"; again, the smoky flavor of the chicken prevented any other taste from coming through. The tortilla soup was "ok", nothing special. The patio was clean and pleasant, and the food arrived promptly. There are other choices out there for adequate food; I will pursue those options before dining here again. Not terrible - not great. read more

The BEST! The food from this franchise is consistently good. The lemon chicken is oh so flavorful and just melts away in you mouth. The BBQ ribs are oh so tender and moist. The BBQ sauce is just right not so sweet that it overpowers the flavor of the meat. Also love their combo pizza and garlic breadstick. So yummy! I know this place is not the fanciest restaurant but foodwise it sure beats out some of the more expensive restaurants I've visited. Highly recommended!! read more

My favorite food here is the BBQ Chopped Chicken Salad, I just had this evening. It's always been prepared right with crispy salad, fresh shredded carrots, black beans, etc , fresh grilled chicken and the portion is good as well. The price is reasonable. 5 stars from me. read more

Usually pretty satisfied with this Stonefire grill. They were most definitely off their game today! We ordered to-go. Not sure if they were trying to cheap out on me and pull a fast one or whether they had a new chef that was completely lost? We ordered a few different tri tip salads. And this place charges quite a pretty penny for tri tip... So I'm ready to get me money's worth... To no avail.... Gross, crumbly brisket on my salad, how about my husband? Yup, gross dry overly sweet brisket on his salad instead of tri tip. How about my mother in law's salad? Tri tip! 1/3 tri tip salads had tri tip on it. Very disappointing. * after bring harassed by stonefire customer service, my family and extended family that have used them in the past for catering events have all stopped going stonefire completely and haven't missed it since there are now quite a few bbq type places with similar catering pricing. We adore Stonefire's BBQ Chicken Salad, order it once a week. But they raised the price 30% from $18 to $25! I understand having to raise prices, as all restaurants do from time to time, but that's an incredible jump! I didn't look at the rest of the menu, as we only bought the salad this time, but I know we won't be able to eat here as often as we usually do. Sad for us! read more

I've been to 2 different locations, the one off fallbrook in the valley and the one in winetkka. I didn't know they had one in Thousand Oaks! I was so excited since I LOVE this place. I tried it out and i ordered the large pesto pasta and shared with a family member. I feel like it tasted much more flavorful at this location!! I can't get enough of this place! Can't see the appeal here. I can deal with the counter ordering, & the lines, & the bus-urself vibe, but the food was just not good. for some reason, the "greek" salad was loaded with radishes (radishes? maybe as a garnish, but not a third of the salad) & was badly overdressed. And the chicken had this weird cottony texture..as though it has been soaked in --- something -- for way too long. Of course it's noisy, but that is to be expected, & not really a negative thing. The food is the thing, and that's really the negative. Not anxious to return. read more

Stonefire Grill catered a lawn party at our home for 75 guests. We could not be more pleased! The servers showed up right on schedule, and were friendly and courteous throughout the evening. Several guests commented on their professionalism. The food was excellent, and both the quality and quantity exceeded our expectations. High turnover with staff. Today it looked like they hired 5 12 year olds with no customer service skills whatsoever (walking in front of guests) no personalities and I counted 10 dirty tables inside and 4 out in the patio that the 12 yr olds could have been cleaning instead of grouping together doing nothing. The management must of changed because it used to be dependable not anymore. Probably will close by year end due to decline in service and quality of food. read more

This is one of my husbands favorite restaurants. We don't go out very often and we don't eat a lot of beef, but for the price, the tri-tip has never disappointed. The staff is always courteous. Love the bread sticks too and the mac and cheese is not too bad either. I've also used them twice to cater parties and everything turned out perfectly! One of my favorite place for take out. The chicken is a little bit gross. It tasted like it was injected with butter....still a great taste, but far from healthy. With saying all that, I went there a while back and in my Ceasar Salad there was a live bug crawling around. Gross! read more

My family loves this place! We just recently discovered the naked cauliflower which is so delicious. Their small salads (under 10-) is enough to feed 3-4 people!. Good selection of beer, nice seating too. If you want they have a wonderful outside heated patio. read more

This is one of my favorite restaurants! Excellent food for an excellent price. I absolutely love the atmosphere. Very clean, efficient, and organized. Service is fast, which is great. All the staff is very friendly. I had Lexy as my cashier, and she was very sweet, helpful, and gave me great suggestions about things I should try. I also had Kyle as my server, and he was so kind to make sure that I had everything from my order, and that I was satisfied during my meal. Overall, this is the place you want to come to if you want a well cooked meal. They have a nice variety of food such as: BBQ, salads, pasta, pizza, and desserts of course! If you haven't gone to Stonefire, you must go. I feel it's one of the best restaurants I've been to. read more
