My husband and I came today for lunch. I ordered the Blu-Lu for my drink. It was amazing and strong! I would probably pass on the appetizers next time. We both got the fried shrimp and catfish combo basket. It was delicious! I got a side of white rice and asked for a side of the spicy garlic butter. It took my meal to the next level! We will definitely be back. The only suggestion we have is to PLEASE change the music!! It was horrendous! It was down tempo and acoustic! It absolutely killed the vibe! Kicking off our anniversary weekend with some Storming Crab. They just opened 2 weeks ago in the old Fudruckers location in McKinney. Let me start by saying Joe Crab shack who? This place blows Joe's out of the water!! Amazing ambiance, I loved the inviting decor. I felt like I was in a tropical beach destination somewhere, maybe even Miami. We sat at the bar since there was already a wait of 30 minutes, no problem, it was a great seat. The owner, Kevin, waited on us. He gave us the scoop, he and his brother opened the restaurant, this is 1 of 22 locations since 2016. We got the biggest feast they had, which included King Crab legs, New Zealand Green Muscles, crawfish, sausage, potatoes and corn. We chose our spice flavor - Cajun spice - and the hotness level - we settled on Hot ( it was middle of the road on the spice scale) Roy doesn't like too hot, I could eat the hottest spice they have, I was blown away by the flavor of the boil flavoring. It was delicious, so much flavor in every bite. I'm not usually a boil fan, it's a lot of work to eat. This was all well worth the effort. I'm stuffed to the gills. They have a convenient wash station after you eat to wash off the mess of the meal, it's not a place I'd venture to take a first date, Medieval Times comes to mind. You can tell it was close to their opening day. The waiter hadn't ever been a waiter before today so that made a difference I'm sure in quality of service. We waited for seating and it seemed some people who came after us was seated first. You just need a little patience. The decorations were fitting and they had these side sinks that of course is smart for a seafood boil. The setup was inviting and the bar looked nice too. For the costs, there wasn't quite enough seafood. The flavor was however good and the seafood was cooked correctly. Which is a big deal. We will try again in a few months to let them iron out the kinks. read more

Absolutely delicious dining experience! The complimentary bread to start was out of this world. We had Oysters ~ 1/2 doze fresh | 1/2 dozen baked | & the fried Oyster basket ~ all were perfect! Boudin balls were a great accompaniment to any Cajun meal. With our hunger already being more than satisfied, we chose to share a bowl of Gumbo (which was amazing) & we were curious about the Cajun Fried Rice (image oriental fried-rice w/ a Cajun flare - outstanding!) Ice cold draft beer in tall glasses was refreshing & plentiful enough to sufficiently wash down the entire meal. The service was excellent. My only regret? Not knowing Storming Crab has been open in McKinney since 6/2021 ..... I've been missing out for a year & a half! read more

Great service and atmosphere. The staff was great..There is a fully stocked bar with large seating.. sports playing on large screen televisions. The prices are reasonable for the large portions.. Large variety of seafood. Mix and match seafood combinations or pre-select suggestions. I recommend Storming Crab! read more

We went to 6:00 on Sunday night and the place was almost empty. We're kind of glad thinking we might get good service but now that didn't happen and it's because the place is so awful. The best thing we got was the hush puppies and they call that a 'premium side' we got a good laugh out of that. Yes it was premium since it was the best thing they served us. Got the the fried shrimp but they cut to look like a french fry and put the shrimp in something else I suspect. It tasted okay but very pricey for seven bites of shrimp I could have gotten a Long John silver's and been happier. Crawfish etufe was barely warm very little meat bad tasting salty .I couldn't eat it my wife we both made the mistake of ordering it. We asked for salt and it took about 10 minutes to bring it. That was before we we realize they over salt the food so that's why they don't put it on the table I guess. Then there was oysters on the half shell which we're not cold nor were they fresh tasting could not finish that either. I got the gumbo it wasn't bad though it hardly had any seafood in it was all rice and sauce. Food was brought it random intervals. Hush puppies were brought like it was an appetizer. Oysters on the half shell brought about 2 minutes before the main dish not giving time to realize they we're not edible anyway. Got a margarita that that's possibly the worst one I've ever tasted. I'll give service 2 Stars .they weren't friendly, food brought out at random intervals but we did get what we asked for. But not we expected cuz we sure wanted good food and we all left hungry. The sea food boil was not worth it...they do not marinate the food with it. my shrimp was over cooked and they even forgot my sausages then when I asked for them they gave my dry sausages that really didn't have much taste to them...I couldn't even eat my food because how disappointed I was with the taste and texture of the shrimp. read more

First time visiting, and I won't return and would not recommend. The food was nasty. The only item that was tasty was the sweet potato fries. The waiter was not friendly at all and acted like he had an attitude towards the end of our visit perhaps he thought he deserved more towards his tip. read more

Ok - this place is amazing! You can generally tell if crab is prepared badly - won't come out of the shell, lots more work getting the meat out etc. the Snow crab and shrimp were prepared perfectly! Great value for the amount of food you get. Seasoning off the charts! (I recommend the house Cajun seasoning). Bar was super fast in delivering drink orders. Food came out within minutes. Staff was super friendly and knowledgeable - Claire waited on us - she made this place even better! They even have lunch specials - and I can see how this place can deliver excellent food quickly. New Seafood place that just opened a few weeks ago. The atmosphere and waitstaff did great which is why it made it to a 3. If it was judged off of the food it would of gotten a 2. We ordered the jalapeño poppers which were just like Sonics. I mean, you wouldn't know the difference. We then ordered 3 shrimp baskets, 2 with onion rings and one with French Fries. The food came out and was very bland. When you have Cajun in your name you think a lot of flavor or spice. The onion rings where like buying from Kroger, nothing special. The fries were good though. They sell Pepsi products only so if your a true Texan looking for that Dr Pepper you are out of luck. That's just a personal preference and didn't count toward the rating. :-) On a positive note that do have complimentary seafood cheese bread and it was good. If I could rate this restaurant less than 1, I would. I don't mind paying for good food, but it is very disappointing when the food is not good. My family went this past weekend and I have never experienced food that was to say the least not even minimal satisfying. Two of us had shrimp and I have never eaten shrimp where they took 1 shrimp and it was considered 2 on your plate because it was split in half and stretched out long and as thin as almost a straw. Had crab cakes that had no flavor and was told part of it was the claw on a stick...horrible. Prices are expensive and the food is not worth it. After paying $200 there, had to stop at Popeyes for their shrimp and some chicken. That's just how awful it was. No one in fam enjoyed their food. I would not recommend this restaurant. I would hate to give such a good restaurant such a bad review but the service was absolutely awful. The little girl who was the hostess was terribly rude. I've been here a few times and got a different hostess, she was this very sweet girl with black hair. I hope to see her again because this new girl was terrible to speak to. Everything is cooked in a bag, they bring it to your table and dump it on your plate. Very bland steamed food, I could get better in a bag at Walmart for a quarter of the price. This was my first time grabbing food from here and the atmosphere was nice, the inside was clean and friendly employees. However, my food was not good. I ordered lunch, which was the create your own seafood boil, half a pound crawfish and shrimp and I added sausage, eggs and corn. The shrimp were over cooked and the the flavor was bland.
