Though I had passed it, I immediately detoured, turning around to see what they were all about, namely because of they are straight from Philly. We've driven by this place many times and have always wanted to check it out but every time we had just eaten. Finally today we planned on stopping in! I watched Mark Weins on YouTube of his tour of Philly's top 5 cheesesteak shops and got us thinking about Cheesesteaks. We thought about stopping by the familiar Jersey Mike's but decided to look for a local place and found this shop near us. We drove by here hundreds of times but never noticed this place. We stopped by on a weekday for a late lunch and it was not busy. We were hoping that it would be good as its namesake. We ordered the Pastrami with Provolone and the. #9 special with Cheesewiz which has peppers and onions,and the Garlic and Parmesan Cheese Fries. I hate to do this, but this is unacceptable. Reading all the good reviews about this place, I wanted to try them out. I experienced very poor customer service this evening. Called at about 7:30PM to place a phone order. To start, the man that answered the phone wasn't warm and didn't even make a proper phone greeting. "Told him good evening, I would like to place a phone order". He advised that they do not take phone orders which is fine. I already calculated my drive in my navigation, so I proceeded to ask if my order will still be taken if I get there in the next 15 minutes. He let out a breath then coldly responded "I close the window at 7:55PM" and left it at that. I said ok and thank you. I jumped up and rushed to my car to drive the 8 miles there. I arrived here at 7:52PM and when I got to the drive thru speaker, he said they're wrapping up and not taking any more orders. My issue here is him not honoring his statement. His phone demeanor should've been enough, but as I said, I really wanted to try this place. He could've just answered no to me since he was clearly over his evening and wanted to close shop. I get it which is why I even asked and I would've tried again a different day. Maybe it was an off night and unfortunately I ended up on the end of someone not having the best day, but this is still unacceptable. If the individual that answered the phone was the business owner, please consider better phone etiquette and customer service. The chicken steak would be ranked 3.5 stars and the beef steak would be 2.5 stars. The lower ranking is because of the dryness of the sandwich and the lack of flavoring. There was no sauce, mayo or anything and the meat itself wasn't moist. Any moisture from the meat was soaked up by the bread, and there was a high bread to everything else ratio. It needed more cheese or flavoring or something. There was only green peppers, no red peppers and no onion. Its not that is was bad, it was just okay. Nothing to rave about. I'll be trying other steak shops before I think about going back to this place again. The staff was nice but the shop looked old and weathered. Great spot for a nice, hearty cheesesteak made with love by a family legitimately straight from Philly. The family has been in the business of making authentic Philly cheesesteaks for over 30 years and they brought the business to Henderson. We parked in the shared lot of this small plaza and walked in to cordial friendly greetings. There is a plexiglass barrier between the cashier and customer interface. Plenty of seating inside and out. Cashier gave us a take home menu to help us with our choices. After we placed our order, we sat down and were even able to use a high chair for our two year old. Drinks were brought out first, followed by food, then pickles, chilies, marinara, ranch, and ketchup. We went with the three cheesesteak special, plain chicken sandwich, mozzarella sticks, bacon cheese fries and French fries. We washed all that down with bottled water, cherry coke and root beer. This is definitely one of those places that lives up to its name and exceeds expectations. Our three children enjoyed the food which is a great indicator or us returning to a specific business.
