Brisket queso to go
Bonnie W.

I exclusively by the chilled products here. Dined in and liked the food, been picking up meats here ever since. They have excellent pulled pork. We like to make stuffed poblanos at home with their pulled pork and top it with their queso. Easy to grab and go, they have lots of products vacuum packed already chilled or frozen.

The chicken wings. Everything was good, but the chicken wings were great! They are smoked, and then fried. They also make a threeso, which is a three cheese queso ‍in a very relaxed, inviting, family- friendly environment where you can walk- in and seat yourself. The food was fast and hot and the customer service was accommodating.

We wandered in after the lunch rush on a Thursday, driven by this spot's high praise and its place of honor in my 'Yelp BBQ collection.' A warm greeting set the tone in the nearly empty dining area. Having done my homework, I had my heart set on the dry-rub chicken wings, despite my husband's skepticism. Trust me, I knew they'd win him over. We also grabbed the lunch deal: a sandwich (brisket, naturally), borracho beans, and a creamy jalapeño corn side that intrigued me (cinnamon in the corn, maybe?). The wings--get the HOUSE RUB, seriously--were life-changing. Crispy, sweet, spicy perfection. Hubby had to admit I was right (a rare win I'll cherish). The brisket sandwich was solid, but those sides stole the show. Beans? On point. Corn? Addictive. Of course we needed to finish off our meal with a little dessert, the peach churro cobbler and some divine vanilla ice cream. Owners Matt & Trisha bring passion and pride to their food, and they're happy to chat if you're game. (Pro tip: engage, they've got stories!) The other staff seemed genuinely happy to be there, and even the bathrooms sparkled. We'll definitely be back--those wings alone are worth the trip.

Strouderosq had phenomenal BBQ, and the sweetest people working there. It's a small restaurant but they are really attentive. We loved the brisket!

Food is ok and prices are way too high. Won't be going back. My pocketbook can't afford that.

By the time the store opened, the line had grown to being over twenty parties long, so plan accordingly if you don't want to be waiting for a while. Between the four in our party, we shared a three meat BBQ plate with bacon burnt ends, brisket, and their house made sausage. For our two sides, we chose their hatch chile mac n cheese and their Mexican street corn. Following the recommendations of many Yelpers, we also ordered two of the brisket tostadas and two of the birria tacos. When we received our plate of meat, I was a bit surprised at how little of each meat there was on the plate, but in hindsight, this ended up being the perfect amount of food, where everyone was able to get a sample of everything. Of the items we ordered, my favorite was definitely the burnt ends. These were melt in your mouth tender, and was insanely rich and decadent. Each of the three pieces in our order had a beautiful bark on the outside that resulted in a satisfying crunch with every bite. The casing to the sausage was snappy and the sausage itself was very juicy. The brisket was fall apart tender. The brisket was a bit light on seasoning, so I ended up using the Aztec Gold BBQ sauce they had sitting at the table with it. The sides that we chose were both delicious. The pasta in the mac n cheese was cooked perfectly and the noodles was generously sauced. The elote was sweet and smokey, and the Cotija cheese added creaminess to the side. Overall, I had a fantastic experience at Hurtado Barbecue and wouldn't hesitate to recommend a visit if you're in Texas and are looking for great tasting BBQ.

Rating: 6.5/10 Date Last Visited: 7/12/2026…read more I ordered Brisket ($35/lb), Pork Ribs ($29/lb), the Texas Twinkie ($6), and a quart of Hatch Chili Mac N Cheese ($15). The brisket and pork ribs were decent, but honestly pretty dry and lacking in flavor when compared to some other BBQ places in DFW. For the price, it's pretty similar to other BBQ in the area. The Texas Twinkie is a jalapeño stuffed with cream cheese and brisket and wrapped in bacon. It was my favorite item as the cream cheese and bacon balanced out the spiciness of the jalapeño. The mac n cheese was also delicious with the perfect amount of spice. The service was great too as they made a mistake on my order and quickly corrected it. I like that this place is open daily and for dinner too. Overall, I would recommend this place if you're in the area and looking for some BBQ, but if you're a huge fan of BBQ then I recommend going to the other top BBQ places.

Even though the playground is usually his favorite spot, he didn't hesitate & insisted we go to Kafi for the brisket. That pretty much sums up how my family feels about this place. We've tried plenty of BBQ spots around Texas, but Kafi keeps bringing us back. The brisket is consistently excellent, and you can tell they use the highest-quality ingredients because the flavor really speaks for itself. Everything on the menu is done well, from the Wagyu and sausage to the burnt ends. It's become one of those rare places that the whole family gets excited about, and that's not something I can say about many restaurants

The brisket was tender, juicy, and full of smoky flavor, and the ribs were cooked perfectly--fall-off-the-bone good. The sides were just as impressive. The beans were flavorful, the mac and cheese was creamy and delicious, and the cornbread was the perfect finishing touch. The only downside is that it gets pretty crowded, especially during peak hours, so I recommend finding a seat as soon as you get there. Other than that, the food, service, and overall experience were fantastic. I'll definitely be coming back!

Try their HG brisket quesadillas!!!! Brisket heavy and excellent for the price. I love all their sides. My fave is the bacon ranch potato salad. Their mac n cheese is really good but not my go to. Go! The Real Deal!…read moreNow that we have that out of the way, let's explore further. I will start by saying Hurtado was close to scoring a 5 Star review but fell short for one,Major reason. My memories of the farmers market area of Dallas Texas are some of my earliest. Going back decades to when it was an actual farmers market. You know, where farmers load trucks of fresh produce and travel 10s or hundreds of miles in order to sell the fruits of their labor and make a living. Well, starting about 40 years ago, that small farmer ethos started fading and the powers that be implemented a Farmers Market Redevelopment Plan. Bingo, that's where we are today. A popular multiuse, living, working, resturant, shopping district that's self sustaining on the edge of downtown. Enter Hurtado and another startegiclly placed outpost for their award winning Texas BBQ with a twist. Located in a new architecturally pleasing building, the only potential barrier between you and the brisket is parking. On my Tuesday lunch this wasn't a problem but at busier times, keep this in mind. When you enter, the place is bright and clean with staff waiting to make your visit count. The hostess even brought us menues as we looked up at the wall menu choices, nice touch. Before long we decided and slid up the counter to order. Ordering, paying, taking our number and beverage glasses, was easy peasy. In case your inclined, there is a full bar which may entice my return visit . Full array of soft drinks and ice tea is also handy. We took a comfortable booth and only wait ed a few minutes ( long enough for our delicious hand cut fries to cook) before our "El Jeffe" was delivered to our table. After the drooling stopped we dove in sharing, brisket, ribs, hatch Chili Mac n cheese, brisket beans, bread, pulled pork, burnt ends, hand cut fries and Texas Twinkies. The food here is excellent. Made with love as Texas Barbecue has to be. Service with a smile is the deal clincher. I will return for a follow up review and reveal what kept me from serving up the 5 th star! For now I recommend you... Go!
