After seeing countless videos about Sugo Pizza, I finally decided to give it a try and see if it lived up to the hype. The location itself is very small, and parking is extremely limited. I got lucky finding a spot, but it's definitely something to plan for if you're visiting during peak hours. I placed my order online in advance and went to pick it up. The staff was kind and let me know it would be a few more minutes. I waited patiently, but after seeing other guests receive their pizzas before me, I decided to ask. It turned out my order had been ready the entire time. There was some confusion, but it wasn't a major issue. Now onto the food. The chorizo pastor slice was the clear standout. It felt like biting into a burrito in pizza form. The meat was rich and flavorful, complemented perfectly by the sweetness of the pineapple, the heat of the sauce drizzled on top, and the brightness of the fresh cilantro. This slice delivered bold, balanced flavors and is easily one of the top specialty pizzas I've tried in a while. The Contadina slice was solid overall. The sausage didn't leave much of an impression, but the sauce and cheese were well done. I recommend adding a bit of their chili oil and ranch on the side, which really boosts the flavor. The Japanese slice was not my favorite. While I can see how others might enjoy it, the strong aroma of the bonito flakes as soon as I opened the box was off-putting to me. It's an interesting concept and worth a try for those with adventurous tastes, but it didn't work for me personally. Unfortunately, the biggest disappointment was the pepperoni slice. As shown in my photos, the pepperoni was burnt, and when I took a bite, it crumbled apart without offering any real flavor. This slice lacked the satisfying crispness and bold taste that make pepperoni pizza a classic. There are far better versions out there. Pricing was fair, around eight dollars per slice. The portions are decent, making them easy to share if you're ordering a few to sample. Overall, Sugo Pizza is worth visiting at least once to explore their creative flavor combinations. While not everything hit the mark for me, the chorizo pastor slice alone made the experience worthwhile. Seating is available both inside and outside but is very limited. All the pizza options were displayed in the window near the register as well as the monitor on the wall. We opted for the Margherita Slice, Pepperoni Slice, Prosciutto Slice. Since the location heats the pizza after ordering the wait time can be 10-30 mins. The drink options are canned beverages: Coke Products, and Italian Sodas. Small spot with limited parking. Workers are super helpful with suggestions. Vibe is chill and workers are efficient. Waited about 7-10 minutes for my slices to get heated up. Limited seating if you choose to eat on site which I suggest so you get enjoy the slices at peak flavor. I had the Japanese and Al Pastor pizza. The Japanese was unique with its savory, creamy flavors. I was hoping for stronger mushroom notes but it was subtle. The Al Pastor does pack on the heat which i underestimated. There was a display of the pizza offerings right when you walk in. Pizza wasn't baked yet and it looked fresh. Saw a few little gnats flying around and landed on a few slices. wish they had covered the pizzas or something. Anyway, I ordered three slices: the Japanese, the Contadina and the standard pepperoni. The total cost of the three slices and a can of Diet Coke was just under $30. Kind of pricy if you ask me. I had two other friends with me and they also paid around the same. So a party of three was close to $100 for pizza. Ouch. My favorite was the Japanese. Good balance of salty and sweet. Perfect Unami flavor. The Contadina was a close second. The carmelized onions added a very nice touch. The pepperoni left much to be desired. Overall, the pizza was above average but for the price, I don't think it was worth it. This little gem beside Mitsuwa is a wonderful discovery. They sell pizza by big rectangle sizes so you can have different flavors. I tried out the staff pick - Japanese pizza that had bonito flakes, miso kewpie, mushrooms and it was really good! Interesting combination that actually works! Service was a little slow. Maybe they were understaffed being it was late at night already but they are very friendly. The place is small with a couple of bar stools to sit at. First off, the music playlist was pretty good! Now the bad part, It takes forever to get your food. I ordered 4 types of pizza the "Ono", "Pepperoni", Meat Lovers", and a "Caprese" slice all they had to do was bake, but for some reason it took over 20minites and we were the only people there. The taste of all, were mediocre, the sauce definitely stands out the most, not only the taste, but little there is, on all slices. Came by a Wednesday afternoon around 11:30 and seemed to beat the lunch time rush by an hour. The staff were welcoming and asked if it was our first time and gave recommendations. We split a Japanese and Pera E Gorgonzola slice along with the mint yerba mate and limonada. The slices are toasted upon order and the bread/crust was nice and crunchy - the two flavors paired quite nicely! Drinks were also good and refreshing. There's packets of crushed red peppers by the front counter if needed. The interior had counter seating and could be a bit toasty with the oven. My coworkers were preparing for hosting a conference nearby. We decided to order pizza and my coworker went to pick it up. We had two types, the Japanese slice and pepperoni. I decided to skip the pepperoni, since it gives me heartburn sometimes. As for the Japanese slice, I liked it for the most part however, the Bonita flakes were very strong. Don't get me wrong, I really enjoy bonito flakes when they're on items such as takoyaki or sushi rolls. But these flakes were overpowering and pungent. My workaround this was to peel off the bonito flakes, which made it more enjoyable. Some of my coworkers seemed afraid to even try it so they stuck to the pepperoni. There was limited but free parking in a small lot semi-attached to the Mitsuwa next door. The place is not very large; it's order at the counter. Looking at the display case, don't be too worried by the appearance of the pizzas as they're not yet cooked. They're Roman style; square shaped and crust/base almost like focaccia. This is one of my favorite pizza places ever. Sugo offers unique Asian fusion pizza flavors that taste amazing. They also have some traditional pizzas as well like margarita pizza. I think about this pizza place a lot and wish I lived closer so that I can eat there more often. The customer service is also really great. The service and kindness that the staff showed us (very) confused customers at the end of the line was top tier. The line was cut and marked as sold out when the dough was estimated to run out. They still left enough dough to bake one more run of each flavor to ensure that each customer was able to walk away with the flavors that they waited in line for!
