Upon entering I was greeted and advised this was my first time in. The menu was explained though the staff appeared a little caught off guard. If y'all follow me y'all know how I feel about donuts! The pastry was lightly dusted with powdered sugar, crusty on the outside and moist on the inside; outstanding! A perfect vehicle for the thick seasonal berry jam that eventually oozed through. It was a great size and had an essential balance of jam. Espresso was fast, warm and sensually delicious (I have a special relationship to coffee lol). Most authentic Roman Caffe I have been to outside of Rome (where I lived for over a year). Not only are the cappuccino and cornetto completely correct, but they actually have Roman style zucchini pizza - which is impossible to find in the states. And don't miss the fun square donut. This place used to be amazing. I hadn't been back in a few years and like many places that was once buzzed out, it's seen better days. I ordered and sat outside. They gave me a number for the table for a server to bring the food. She brought it out with no silverware and when I asked she said, "it's in the back." Since I was near the street I couldn't leave my food and all of my belongings there. I mentioned this to her and she walked away, not offering to bring them. By the way, the place was nearly empty. I packed up my stuff and went to the back of the cafe to get my silverware then settled back in outdoors. One thing I ordered was "bread and butter with jam". The bread was warm and delicious but the butter was hard, very cold and unspreadable. I packed up again and went in to ask for room temp butter. I made a joke (smiling) and asked if they hand any butter that wasn't hard. The barista guy chastised me by saying, "there's a better way to ask for that." It was weird because I was friendly and I was the one who had to keep packing up my table to fix their mistakes. Long story short -- I'd get a bread to go, but eating there was more trouble than it was worth and being chastised by a weirdly sensitive barista was just strange. read more

Walking around Chelsea and stopped in here around 11am. I have been walking all morning, including walking all over The Little Island several times. My feet were tired! I'm walking all afternoon and need to fuel up. Saw this place. Total happenstance. Read a few reviews (thanks Yelpsters!) before walking in. I asked the person at the counter what she recommended. I walked by here out of craving for an espresso. I was pleasantly surprised at the diversity of all the assortments of food and fresh baked bread. I overspent and decided to have one of a tiramisu dessert, mortadella bun, and a loaf of bread. I would have to say a lot of food felt average but showcased well. My favourite was the tiramisu bread that had a very unique texture compared to the average cake. The cream was light with the bun and left each next bite to be desired. Prices are shown at each beautiful looking baked good. Great! Easy to see. But, when you knowingly put a price by an item, and you know that it is not the correct price, that is not good business. When I was sitting outside, enjoying my beverage and yummy, fresh chocolate Bombolini and preparing to post photos for a "check-in" here on Yelp I noticed that my receipt showed $4.50 for my delightfully delicious Bombolini BUT, I had a photo to post that showed $4.25 for my Bombolini . Hmm, maybe it was the tax? No, tax shows and is added separately on my receipt. Since I was comfortable outside, I did not feel like going back in to ask, so I called, identified myself etc., (cold brew and chocolate Bombolini) explained that I'm posting some photos on Yelp, and I just noticed Blah, blah, etc., and asked. The young lady on the phone said they had to wait for newly printed price signs. (Choose your emoji sign to place here, jeepers!! ) So, I wonder, did the owner make this rule, did a manager, did anyone?? I was surprised and kind of saddened by this answer. Saddened because, this place is SO VERY PLEASANT WITH YUMMY GOOD FOOD AND DRINK, and this response let me know that COMMON SENSE IS LACKING FROM THE OWNER, OR TRAINER OF THE STAFF. If you do not have signage with the correct price then why not do one of these : option 1- remove the cute little sign from that group of chocolate Bombolini ....and if a customer asks, you can tell them the correct price.....OR, option 2- write the correct price on that little sign. Worried about ink? Then cover with a piece of tape, over the handwritten price. We are in a Covid 19 PANDEMIC. I understand if you need to raise prices. I am glad that your business is open. I am glad that you are asking for proof of vaccination per NYC LAW. All I am saying is let the consumer know the correct price. Again, I am glad and grateful that your business is surviving. And I want that to continue. I brought my tray inside, tossed whatever paper into garbage. Used the clean restroom, and said goodbye to the young man and woman behind the counter: "Goodbye, have a good day!" The guy responded the same-nice , but the young lady kept her back to me, she was perhaps doing something, but she said nothing. A far different attitude compared to her friendly smile and greeting when I had entered. Was she annoyed at my pricing question? I don't know. If the owner happens to read this, can you comment on the pricing signage, please? I DID ENJOY MY ICE COFFEE COLD BREW AND THE FRESH, YUMMY CHOCOLATE BOMBOLINI . And being able to sit outside. Try: Croissant, Kimchi Turkey Avocado Sandwich, with an Iced Coffee Why: The Croissant has a sugar glaze on top which added some sweetness and texture in each bite. I also enjoyed dipping my croissant into the coffee! The Kimchi Turkey Avocado Sandwich was very unique and delicious. This spot is a really nice coffee shop for indoor and outdoor seating! Come here for some good baked treats and interesting conversations with some people form the neighborhood. Food: I tried the croissant and it was very good! Really buttery, a little too buttery for my taste but still very good! They don't heat anything Up. My friend got the pizza slices - the pomodoro and the cauliflower and she said that it was amazing! She ended up ordering 4 slices! Ambience: really nice cafe with ample seating and friendly workers. Sullivan St Bakery is right near me so I thought I'd try it out. I tried: Raspberry bomboloni: this was my favorite of the sweet stuff. Really soft and moist donut, and delicious raspberry filling. Cream bomboloni: not really my taste, but still good Chocolate chip cookie: decent, nothing special. It tasted like it had peanut butter too? My favorite things were the pizzas. I tried the zucchini one and the artichoke one. Those are great. Although "pizza" isn't quite the word I'd use, since they're more like focaccia or flatbread. Very tasty though. The pizzas are what elevated my review from 3 to 4 stars. read more

Strange that I live near here and have never posted a review. This place isn't perfect. But it's close. I can't speak to the debate about latte-cappuccino disparity but I can say the French toast is insanely delicious. As is the bomboloni. And chocolate croissant. And egg with avocado on French roll. Etc. everything I've eaten has been outstanding. And the latte was in fact prepared well. Service is fine and the ambiance is nice. I really appreciate having such a consistent place nearby. I've been here a couple of times and they are just a very solid bakery. Breads are the main event but cookies and pastries are also very solid. The focaccia here is fantastic. I am also a fan of the chocolate chip cookies. They are rich and dense and completely cooked, while still being moist and chewy (if you are looking for a break from all the mushy, raw-inside cookie madness). They also have good croissants, too. The store is pretty small, but there is very little in the way of quality baked goods in the immediate area, so just grab and go and enjoy at home (or inhaling as you walk). read more

I loved the vibe they've got going on here. It's an Italian-style cafe and menu, with a quiet, relaxed, rustic setting. They have pastries, soups, sandwiches, breakfast items, and all the caffeine beverages your heart could want. I got a coffee with almond milk, and later an almond milk latte. Was pretty great coffee, and not the smoothest latte I've ever had, but up there in terms of quality. It very much reminded me of Italian joe. Omg do you ever wish you hadn't found a place for eats! I wish I'd not found Sullivan St 2 blocks from my apt in Chelsea. I just go for breakfast + to bring breads to parties because if I brought them home my diabetic bread loving hubby could go into shock. The daily egg bowls, the breakfast sandwiches w scrambled eggs + a slice of pancetta, the pizza squares --- so much more. Really authentic Italian breads like you were in Naples or someplace. Came here 1 morning for a quick brunch before a walk in the park on a Saturday morning. It was a bit pricy, but a nice change of pace from a diner or fast food for eggs in the morning. I had 2 breakfast sandwiches, the Uovo and the Tartine since they were both tiny. The Uovo was my preferred sandwich between the 2, but you could probably eat about 4 of them easily since they're basically snack size. The tartine had a decent amount of Prosciutto and was delicious with the eggs. The chicken sandwich was nice as well and just a tad spicy. Definitely not enough chicken though. I'd say that all the sandwiches are overpriced, but the eggs are delicious and fluffy. I'd tentatively go back for the Uovo as a breakfast snack if I was in the area, but I'd probably get a more full breakfast somewhere else afterwards, because the Uovo is $8 or $9 a slider. Latte versus Cappuccino. Training issue. The lattes are made like cappuccinos, unfortunately. Lattes are about two-thirds steamed milk, with the other third split between espresso and foam. Instead, when I order a latte, it comes with about a third of the cup being just foam, which is essentially a cappuccino. A cappuccino has equal parts of espresso, milk, and foam. A third, a third, and a third. It's what I get but not what I ordered. There should be no need to request little foam when ordering a latte because, by definition, a latte always has little foam. And, worse, when I asked the staff for more hot milk in my latte to make it more like a latte than a cappuccino, the staffer was rude and snippy and just said, "you'll have to wait" because he was busy, when it was his fault he had messed up the coffee order in the first place. Please ensure the staff reviews the standard recipes for lattes and cappuccinos. read more

Appreciate the seating space at this bakery! Great to get work done or hang out with friends. We tried three bombolinis: chocolate, jam, and cream. The chocolate bombolini was my favorite - the thick, rich chocolate inside went well with the soft, chewy dough. The jam and cream bombolinis were also decent. The jam resembled an apple flavor, and the cream was runny and flavorful. I would like to come back to try their pizza (served Tues-Sat), but I like the fact that they have a savory option like pizza on their menu. I felt like their overall selection of pastries was limited, though. I would highly recommend this spot to anybody looking to try some fantastic bombolinis. read more

I have not had the brunch here bir have had their lunch pizzas which apparently are more extensive than the evening menu that I have posted in the pictures but this place is a fixture here since the early 90s. The service is prompt and friendly The complimentary sesame bread slices and and the extra virgin cold pressed olive oil will want you to take a bottle home. The pizza selection in the evening was quite limited Basically three pizzas: the popeye with spinach overload you see in the picture, the pizza rossa which is my favorite with a spicy kick to it. And the margaretia I had them add wine mozzarella to the pizza rossa but honestly I think it's best in its original form. I was excited to get my hands on one of the yummy French pastries that the reviews boasted. I got the one of the raspberry bombolonis (Italian donut resembling a regular filled donut). The dough was soft and fresh - cloudy and not overpoweringly sweet. The filling was delectable - real raspberry filling that wasn't just on one side of the donut. There was no filling coming out onto my hands because the dough was so fresh. The pastry was so small for $4. Everyone seems to love the coffee which I'll consider getting next time. Hot chocolate review: Blizzard bound Saturday, post Jun Men ramen, pre subway closing. I head for a hot chocolate fix. Yes! They're open before MTA shuts down subway. The hot chocolate with a flower on top is pretty damn near perfect- not overly rich, real chocolate paired with a chocolate chip cookie.
