Waitstaff is unfailingly rude. They will lie to you when you walk in the door about their willingness to seat you and when your party arrives they will split your across multiple tables. They'll talk about fire code violations from pushing tables together. Maybe that's true. But they'll be certain to be jerks about it. Don't waste your time. read more

I came out here for an acoustic evening. The staff is very friendly. My only concern was the wait time on food and drinks. It took over 10 minutes for somebody to acknowledge me, then 23 minutes to get a drink :-) I don't blame the staff! :-) read more

Chose sully's for a family reunion. Caesar salad was too spicy and had hair in it. Fish and chips had 3 very small dried up and over cooked fish and fried steak had hair dried right into the batter. Terrible. Service was very very slow, seemed short staffed. Good over 30 minutes to get a bottled beer and 1 mixed drink. One person in our group did not receive her food until the last person had finished eating. We had 9 adults and 6 school age kids. It was nice that the kids were able to run around. the quality of the food and slow service were the real issues. We trusted sullys to provide good food and reasonable service. St Patrick's day menu is great as long as you aren't gluten free. They cut the menu for the day down to a few items and would not even offer a salad. Frys are battered and if you wanted the burger with no bun and no frys they didn't discount it. So. If you like green beer and corned beef (which I don't happen to and my hubby loves) your SOL. Shocked that a salad was out of the question. Pretty disappointed on one hand and then I remembered. It's Star. Expectations need to be adjusted I guess. read more

Fun local Irish Pub. Some folks argue where's the Irish food...go to Ireland... this is Star Idaho. They do a nice job with their meals and often have great specials! Drinks...well not sure how they stay in business with as stiff as they make them...but hey that's a good thing! Service is friendly and if your a local they get to know you. Best place in Star to eat! One of the better in the treasure valley. California snobs need not attend!!!! read more

Food is inconsistent. Ribeye is very good occasionally. The service is the main problem. We have gone at various times and different days and the service is always sub par. My husband and I have walked in at 4:45, for an early dinner, not all tables filled, and sat there for fifteen minutes without anyone offering menus or drinks. We finally just left and went somewhere else. This has happened several times. We would love to support local businesses but bad service makes this improbable. read more

We were so excited several years ago when Sully's came to Star. We went there for lunch about a month after they opened and it was very good. Over the years we have become less and less happy with this restaurant. So much that we haven't been back for over a year. So, on this last Saturday we decided to give them another try. Bad decision. To be fair, I believe they were a lot busier than they thought they would be. The weather was nice and they were full. We were offered a place that is part of their outdoor dining with curtains and heaters. We opted to do that. We ordered drinks and were told it would take some time because they were so busy. That was fine. Our server was absolutely amazing. They better hold on to her, give her a raise. When our food came, the fun ended. The Halibut fish and chips were soggy and barely warm. The finger steaks were over done and dry. The best part of the lunch were the drinks, the fries, and our server. I have been in the restaurant and catering business for over 40 years so I understand getting unexpectedly busy but the problem here was the kitchen..I don't know if they were not trained properly or that is just the level of quality they find acceptable. It was a total waste of fifty bucks and we will not be coming back. We were so disappointed that we have been talking about it ever since. read more

We have come here several times for their amazing finger steaks, good drinks and outdoor seating. Tonight was a definite disappointment. Out of finger steaks, which is the whole reason we came here, out of French fries. There is no drink menu, so you need to know what you want. And some people brought 3 dogs, who have been barking and growling at every patron walking by. Gambled on a new-to-us place on my birthday and had a very tasty meal with good service. and wonderful small town feel. Steamed clams appetizer was flavored in a nice caper dill & butter broth, surprised me; my halibut & chips wasn't all bread coating and nice pieces of fish; hubby's Reuben was good, Mom's Coconut shrimp made her happy (I liked it too, no skimp on coconut or flavor); tap beer menu gave me enough choice & I had Shock Top. Food didn't take long to arrive. Service was friendly even tho she had all the tables. We went between lunch & dinner to be sure of a table since didn't know anything about it except a few good ratings on the food. It made a nice discovery to my Mom who recently moved to this area (escaping finally from Boise.) Even the parking worked out easy. So, why not 5 stars? A fairly inebriated man came up to our table and was kind of in our face (especially Mom's) tho not unkind, and it would have been helpful if staff had reminded him to let us review our menus so we could order. Spur of the moment decision to try Sully's - early on a Saturday night. There were a few empty tables in the bar and a few on the enclosed patio. We seated ourselves and were quickly attended to by our waitress. The four of us ordered drinks and our meals. A few more tables filled up and we were pretty much unimpressed by the ambiance of the place. We noticed that a few tables that ordered after us had been served their food and we inquired as to where was our order. The waitress informed us that half was "up in the window" and we would be served when everything was up. Obviously my sandwich was one that had been "up in the window" because the first bite was cold. Too bad, as the sandwich was tasty, but cold. The consensus was that the food was okay...not great, not good...okay. Who wants to go out for okay? The service...okay. The ambiance....for me, a little less than okay. Hard chairs, tables that look they were made in shop class and a few Irish things on the wall (BTW where were the Irish foods? One banger does not make an Irish pub). We won't be returning as there are plenty of mediocre restaurants without the drive! read more

This review is from Tuesday May 23.... went in Tuesday evening around 7:30 fairly busy but not packed. I ordered the Yukon burger which used to be really really good... hangover or late night good. This time the burger tasted like it was a frozen patty with zero flavor and no sauce.. it was a terrible burger. Why they changed what they used to do is a mystery but it will surly lose them business. Fun to bring all the friends to on the patio in the summer. It's that cool outside patio California vibe with horseshoes to play. Food is excellent and the only good spot in star! Good open range for the kids outside as well. Fun for the whole range of family and we enjoy long stays at Sully's enjoying the atmosphere and always get mud pie to go! Sully's SUCKS! . They don't know the meaning of service! My husband and I have ordered a Chef's salad to go at least once a week. Today he went to pick it up, got it home and the amount of lettuce (Romaine, with a national "do not eat Romaine warning " going on) over powered everything else, bacon when we ordered without bacon, traces of cheese, tomatoes the size of baseballs, and only half the amount we usually get in the takeout box. When we called to complain about the amount and the bacon, we were told that the manager made it, that the amount was normal size and anything larger was because someone else made it, that we did NOT order without bacon, etc, etc, etc! No apology, no we'll try to make it right, and we were made to believe that the whole thing was our fault, our $10.00 fault. On a second callback, we asked to talk to the manager and were told by the woman who answered that "I am the manager". She could have told us that the first time we called, or maybe made a good salad! Again, no attempt to apologize. We gave up. No more Sully's for us. By the way, the restaurant furniture is ancient, scarred beyond its age, the floor may contain whatever residue left over from the plague. But health inspectors haven't gotten new glasses yet. read more

Order the garlic parmesan fries, they're the best I've ever had and I don't usually order fries. I've been to Sully's a few times now and I agree with some reviews, the service can be inconsistent. But it's a bar, not a 5 star restaurant. Their food is surprisingly good for pub grub, decent tap selection, and friendly staff. Parking is limited, but you can drive around the corner (w on state, the South on star road at the light, the take the first left into the multi business lot) and there's plenty of spots. Overall, it's a great choice in a small town, especially if you order the fries! read more

We usually have a good time at Sully's, good food and usually good service. Tonight the kid situation was RIDICULOUS....a bunch of uncontrolled kids screaming and running around by the patio while paying customers were trying to have conversation, have a drink and enjoy their meal. We asked the kids to keep it down and asked the wait staff to talk with their parents. And they did. Then two of the parents actually yelled at us because we were parenting their children more than these self-absorbed people more interested in their mobile device than dealing with their undisciplined children. These 'parents' told us this happens all the time there and we should deal with it. We suggested that they patronize a more appropriate place like Pojos or Chuckie Cheese. Sully's, listen, don't allow this to continue, it's hurting business. read more

A big group of us (20+) went out to breakfast during a family reunion (we called ahead), so I'm taking that into consideration with my review, though I really did want to give them 4 stars instead of 3. I'm saying, like, 3.5. Their breakfast menu was simple---about 5 different dishes including salmon eggs Benedict, biscuits and gravy, and what I ordered, the cinnamon french toast: a cinnamon roll sliced and battered and cooked and a fruit compote on top. It was delicious. Slightly slightly too cool, like it had been sitting in the window. Which, like I said, is understandable since there was a huge group of us. Their house coffee was really good, too. Service was good, nice and friendly. The biggest negative thing I noticed was the acoustics. We're kind of a loud family, but that place is built to echo. There's a cut out in the ceiling that doesn't help and might hurt. The look of the place is cool, though. I would definitely go here again if I was in the area. The patio is huge and it seems like a great summertime place. read more
