I went to Sully's for the first time tonight and was blown away! We checked out the online menu before leaving the house so we could order some food to-go before leaving. The place was packed! There were two of us (one underage) so we had to stand and wait for a table for a little while instead of grabbing an open seat at the bar. The bartender served us while we waited though - Guinness for me, Coke for my brother. After we were seated, we ordered immediately. The food took a while, but we were entertained with March Madness on every TV in the room. Once the food arrived though, oh wow! I had the Reuben sandwich. Very, very good! You can upgrade to onion rings for a buck, which I did. If you have the onion rings, I would recommend requesting a side of the tangy bbq sauce to dip them in because that was a heavenly combo. I only had room for half of the sandwich, but brought the other half home for tomorrow's lunch. My brother had the chicken basket with fries. I had one of his pieces of chicken and some fries and they were certainly some of the best chicken tenders I'd ever had. He also could not eat all of the food he was given and had to grab a box too. We placed the order for our to-go finger steak basket and pastrami and Swiss sandwich when we first received our food at the table. By the time we had finished, the food was delivered and ready to go. My parents really enjoyed the finger steaks and sandwich even out of a box (and without beer!). Each time I visit Star, I hope to come back to this place. It's about time Star had a decent dining establishment, and Sully's definitely soared well above that decent mark and is up there with some of the best in the Treasure Valley. read more

So who as ever heard of strong mustard an a guacamole burger? Yuck. Waited 10 minutes to get a menu, another 10 to order. I ordered a medium rare burger, was told no problem. It came to my table jerky. Two tables came in after us and ate and left before I got food, because they knew them. This will be my last stop here, and I love 3 miles away. My husband and another couple went to dinner there last night. Really wish we went somewhere else. Saturday they advertise prime rib special, at 6:30pm they had none. Hubby settled on shrimp cocktail and calamari which was good. Our friends split a tri tip sandwich with a dipping sauce. Their comments, it was meat but no flavor. This sauce looked like dirty dish water. The bright spot, their fries were tasty. I settled for a house salad and potato skins. The house salad consists of core pieces of iceberg lettuce, 1 slice of cucumber, 2 pieces of tomato and a bunch of burnt croutons, inedible! The potato skins looked and tasted like they were made at lunch time then stuck in the oven to reheat until they were burnt. Again, inedible. Sully's is a great place to kick back, have a few drinks and enjoy some tasty food. Nothing super fancy here, just a typical bar/pub menu but I think the quality of their food is well above average compared to other joints of this nature. They offer Halibut for their fish and chips and buffalo burgers which I think is a very nice touch. One thing that I really appreciate about Sully's is how consistently clean it is. The staff is very friendly and are very good at what they do. The fenced-in patio is fantastic and complete with a large, flat screen TV, ceiling fans and two horseshoe pits. You can even bring your dog as long as he/she is leashed. Overall a very welcoming place to come relax and enjoy yourself. Update: They really more bar seating inside. read more

Going with five stars which reflects the impression Sally's made on me with my first visit. Of course Sally's had a lot going for it without doing anything - it was a beautiful sunny day, we ate on the patio surrounded by my golf friends - priceless! My golf friends are the reason I was in Star (I really have no reason to go there, but there is a golf course a couple of miles away - River Birch), but now that I've been there, Star, and especially Sully's, will be a must visit again. Back to the review - fortunately it was Tuesday and Sully's has a two for the price of one on any of their hamburgers (beat that you fast food joints) - I chose the Pepper Burger which was accompanied by fries. Both were very good, especially the fries - not sure what they do but they are kind of crispy (and that's a good thing!). With good food, what is left? O, yes - the service! If i rate the food as very good, I must give the service an excellent!!!! So, all in all, a wonderful and enjoyable experience at Sully's Pub and Grill. read more

Cold Soup For You! The Irish stew is good. ....once they warm it up. Soft drinks are routinely filled to overflowing then eventually served without ever being wiped clean. The chicken is fried in the same oil as the fish. Staff seems fresh out of care to give about your dining pleasure. We discovered Sully's when we moved to the area in '09. It was phenominal food....atmosphere and service. Not sure what happened or when. But Sully's is now off our rotation. read more

I have been to Sully's a few times. Waitresses are always friendly, and service is descent. It can get crowded , and pretty noisy, so not a place for a quiet drink. The food is pretty good as well. Their sandwiches are good, and I really like the clam chowder. They have good selection of food, including some healthier options. read more

Bad service one time can often be excused, but not twice. We went in and sat at an empty table (as the sign said "please seat yourself". Another couple had walked in right behind us. WE sat and waited for over 5 minutes, while the waitress attended to the table next to us, the people who came in after us, and pretty much everything else. We were not even acknowledged, until a busser asked if we had menus (we had nothing on the table in front of us, not even water). We said that no one had helped us yet, she went over and allegedly told the waitress, who continued to ignore us. We got up and left. Been there in the past for lunch and just mediocre. Decent for Idaho. Wouldn't know for dinner because the manager turned our group of 13 away even after we called in advance. Had to regroup at The Flats 16, which had great food, friendly service and accommodated our large group even though they were busy. An Irish themed pub with some Irish food as well. Some good dishes, some average but none bad. Noisy! Many TV's on the wall showing sporting events. Very popular in Star, even on a Thursday night. The flash fried calimari was good, especially with the the cocktail sauce but the breading was a bit heavy. The Irish stew was thick and tasty. Tried a 1/4 lb. Irish burger with corned beef, sauerkraut and spiced mustard and it was all right. French fries were crunchy on the outside and tasted pretty good. Cesar salad was a bit vinegary with stale croutons. The spicy chicken penne was tasty and spicy but the chicken tasted like it had been frozen; a bit rubbery in places. Decent beer and cocktail selection but wine selection is mediocre. Service was average; could have used a couple of more hands but they get an "A" for effort. With 10 - 13 tables (depending upon grouping) seating is limited and you might wait for 15 minutes for a table to open. read more

I have been putting off giving a review for this place for a few months now. I am sad because it used to be one of our favorites. Good service, good food, good atmosphere and not too far from home. But... hello.... I get all the problems as a result of Covid, but Sully's is getting ridiculous. First of all, we tried to stop by here 3 weeks in a row and were told the wait was over an hour, so we left. (We have been coming here for over 6 years and NEVER had to wait - even with the parking lot completely full and having to park in the street.) But, okay. We left and went elsewhere. Then, 3 weeks ago we came back and same story - over an hour wait. This time we asked why? Empty tables both inside and out. Told by the "hostess" the chef left and they were waiting on a replacement to come in. We said, "Okay, we will just sit at a table, have a beer and wait for the new cook to arrive." Waitress comes and asks if we want to order food. We said we were waiting for the cook. Waitress got a puzzled look on her face and asked what we were talking about. We told her the story we heard from the hostess and she just shrugged and said she didn't know what we were talking about. Whatever... we ordered and had our food quick and it was good as expected. Tonight we arrive and we were seated quickly outside. That's where it ended. We have been literally attacked by fly's!!! I am not talking a couple, they were everywhere! One even landed in my husband's drink and died! It took over an hour and 20 minutes to get our food. It was cold on arrival, of course (after that long, I wouldn't expect it to be warm). And, we thought the fly's were bad BEFORE the food arrived.... HOLY S***! It was like being at war! They were everywhere! I know you can spray for that, OR MAYBE , CLEAN THE KITCHEN SO THERE AREN'T HUNDREDS OF FLY'S! Oh my gosh! All I can say is gross! I, sadly, don't think we will be coming back. Oh, and my husband just asked me if I used the bathroom while we were there. I hadn't. He said it was disgusting. Overflowing garbage, nasty everywhere. Obviously the staff either doesn't have to go while they are there, or they just don't care. It really is too bad. I do like this place. Decent food, but last time they forgot the chips with the Fish and Chips. Then took a while to get any tarter sauce. Today just went for a couple beers. Beer was good, but the, what I presumed was the cook, came out of the kitchen, filled up a large plastic cup, probably 32 ounce, looked well used, with Guiness from the tap and walked back into the kitchen. Had a friend stop by from out of town and took him there for a feed. He had the meatloaf and said it's the best meatloaf he's had. I had the Irish sausage and onion rings and it was amazing. Full of flavor and the onions rings were the best I've had. They were nice and crispy and easy to bite through. Nothing worse than soggy and stringy onion rings. Luckily for me Sully's onion rings were perfect. Service was great! It was a perfect balance of checking on us and leaving us alone. Prices were affordable and I think that made experience even better. I didn't mind tipping the waitresses more because the prices were good. I'm definitely going back to try the meatloaf. There are a few restaurants that are actually better at a 4 Star than 5. This is one of the few. You walk in, seat yourself and they come to you. Ball caps and beer, lots of laughter and great food. We came on a Friday night and it was busy, but not much of a wait. Ribeye (10 oz) was one of the best I've had- $15.00! Also had a dark beer. Wife had the French dip (good). I asked for a water when we sat down and it didn't come until the check, but I'm ok with that. This place is the real deal and full of friendly people with great food. Very cool laid back environment everyone is very welcoming and friendly. Great service. Can't wait for the warm months to try out the outside area. After a road trip, my friend and I stopped in for dinner. I ordered the "hand cut" chicken basket and she ordered the Irish burger. When my basket arrived, it looked good, but that's where it stopped. When I picked up the first piece of chicken, the batter completely fell off, was greasy and uncooked and not breaded correctly. The interesting thing is that the chicken was completely over cooked and rubbery. It seemed that the chicken was old and had been recooked. I had to send it back. After waiting quite a bit I finally got the burger I decided to get instead. It was alright. The fries had obviously been refried from my last meal. Very disappointed. We won't be back. read more

I understand that times are hard with current regulations. I showed up about 45 min in advance of a large party to try and give them time to accommodate us. The waitress and hostess made an attempted but told me the truth that COVID rules made it hard and they would have to get aro al from their manager. The manager came in and just flat out lied about the reasons (none of which was COVID related) we couldn't sit together or even get tables near each other. We stayed to eat since it was later and going somewhere else would have been hard. The food was mediocre at best and the cocktails were just average. We won't be coming back anytime soon. I'd rather you tell me the truth than to lie to me. It's ok if you say no but at least be an adult about it. read more

Since I have a hard time starting with these reviews some time we will start with the service. While they did have a sign posted that said to check in for service on the very nice patio, they were with us in good time with some quite delectable specials. The food was very good, including the sirloin with grilled onions, mushrooms, and melted blue cheese. However the highlight of the meal was the outstanding hot wings we had. This was no Frank's red hot poured on some microwaved chicken wings. This was was some serious homemade sauce smothered on delicious tender wings. I'm actually sad that I will not be able to get wings this good back in Portland because...damn. read more
