I have worked and eaten in many different restaurants in my days to see that this operation is perfectly set up according to the demographics its gonna serve. Tempanyaki basically means using an iron griddle to cook your food and I believe that do just that. The sushi bar had great assortment and because the chef was making assorted rolls it was nice to get a chance to interact with them asking them which rolls they had up on display to take. The service was great along with food as well answering majority of my questions and conversed well with small talk. Only bad thing I found through out my experience was how tightly packed the tables were. We were lucky we got in around 1130am before it started to pick up and didnt get locked into our seating arrangement. But other than that the two main factors of food quality and service was top notch. I intend to re-visit when im in mpls again. read more

Oh this place is good. Lots of seafood, very few dishes are over salted, and the price is great. It's one of the cheaper buffet options out there for the quality of food and service you are given. Highly recommended! As always I have to make a comment on how clean a buffet I go to is, and this place did not disappoint. To start with, the food was very good and the service seemed good as well. My family and I enjoyed our dinner. When it came time to pay our bill and leave, the treatment from the staff became extremely rude. The busboy brought us our bill as usual and we gave him our card to run. When he returned with the receipt to sign is when the irritation began. The man stood over my shoulder watching me fill out the form. When I did not fill out anything for the TIP spot of the bill, he had the nerve to point out the tip location and recommended amount. I looked him in the eye and said "No way in hell" and walked away. I TIP with cash when a TIP is deserved and anybody that wants to tell me that a TIP is required is wrong and does not deserve a TIP at all! Pressuring your customers into tipping is extremely rude and because of this I will not return and I will recommend that others avoid this location as well. A really huge Chinese buffet. The Teppanyaki grill was awesome. You grab your own ingredients and they prepare it for you. Steak, veggies, etc. Now to talk about the sushi... NOT LABELED FOR ALLERGENS (not labeled at all actually). It would be nice if they labeled what is shellfish at least so that I might not accidentally poison myself. Overall, alright for the price. I'll make it short. Teppanyaki is a great buffet for the price and for the food. There is a vast selection of choices which include sushi and hibachi style buffet and having been there several times the service has been very good. I found the food to be filled back very quickly if gone and with the exception of their mashed potatoes always being soupy, the rest of the food tastes great and Teppanyaki is not a disappointment in anyway. read more

If you have a disability of any sort stay as far away as possible from this establishment. The food was good, however the manager-on-duty - Nancy -was absolutely terrible to both my wife and I. My wife has a medical alert dog that has to be with her 24x7 (we have been here before with the MA Dog) and upon entering the building we were accosted by the manager who tried to make us feel we were unwelcome. Throughout the entire meal, the manager was watching (spying on) us from what she thought was a surreptitious area and following both myself and my wife around the restaurant like we were criminals. It is the place we will go every time we were in the area. The food was fantastic. They have variety choices for food. However, their service does need some more work. Last time when we were there, they asked us to pay up front. So we paid for dinner plus tips together by our credit card beforehand. Their waitress wasn't really helpful and always gave us a weird respond when we asked for refill. After the dinner, that waitress was chasing us asking for more tips. Favorite spot for a buffet in the area. Clean establishment and courteous staff. Nice sushi variety thankful it caters to vegans. I have yet to try the hibachi due to the line is long whenever I have been there. So it tells me it must be good. Plenty of choices in sauteed vegetables, rice, noodle dishes and fresh fruit if your vegan. Or meats, ranging from beef roast baked salmon or pizza if that's your style. The bad service started right as I was paying. If it wasn't for my sister I would've been robbed of money. I had to pay $16 and I gave them a 50. When they gave me the check it said my change would be $34. But they only gave me $23. My sister was able to get me the money they didn't give me and went on. In my opinion it's not quite as good as others have posted. With that said, I will say when it comes to buffets its above average. If you can get past the 4 million screaming kids and people literally running into each other then the food isn't bad. It's your run of the mill buffet food. The sushi was the biggest surprise. This is probably one of the best restaurants I've ever been to. Their food is delicious. You get to pick your own portions of food. Some of the chicken was mushy and slimy while in the sauce. The cookie's literally smelt like feces. The fish in the sushi was quite dry and it feel apart while you were picking it up. The crab was cooked horrendously; almost like they deep fried it. Chocolate desert was spongy to eat. Also just to add the koi fish were kept in very shallow water as well; their spines were sticking out of the water, that's how shallow it was. Raw chicken kept together next to other foods, like vegetables. The price was also absurd I believe I payed 40 dollars for 3 people. It was not an experience to write home about. Best buffet in Minneapolis! The variety is enormous. Sushi is delicious. They have hand scoop ice cream. Even a chocolate fondue. For 9.29$ lunch after tax without soda is a bargain. They served Prime rib for lunch. The service is typical. I came in right at 11am so wasn't busy. The place is clean. Will easily be back. I'm very impressed. Food is good I've been there three times, and every time service is not so good. I've had workers scoff and make tsk noises and whisper because I didn't tip or tip enough. One lady was tapping her tip plate demanding a tip and at the time we didn't have cash on hand or didn't have no small bills. It wasn't busy the last time we went and after a couple finished eating they brought a couple to the same table all they did was clear the table didn't even wipe it down or anything there was still food smeared on the table and they still sat someone there. read more

My family's been coming here for years, and THIS (along with Hibachi Grill just down the street) are our go-to places for Chinese. Their lunch buffet is very reasonably priced. The quality and variety of their food is excellent, as is their sushi bar. You could pay $7 for take out at Leann Chin or less than $9 for everything Teppanyaki has to offer. My family has been to this buffet many times & have always had an enjoyable meal (it's not fine dining, so you know it's gonna be a typical strip mall buffet) but tonight I found a large piece of metal in my sushi and after bringing it to the attention of the server & the woman behind the counter who appeared to be "in charge " , nobody seemed to be especially concerned & instead of comping my meal like any other normal restaurant, they offered me a measly $2.00 off.
