Ok, as some of the other reviews recommend, check the waitlist prior to arriving. I ignored the recommendation and had to wait 30 minutes. As for the food, i have mixed feelings. I thought the sushi was perfect for an AYCE, not the best in the world, but definitely good. My issue was with all the non sushi items. The NY steak was the toughest NY steak I've ever had. Same goes for the ribs. The ramen was fine but every other non sushi meat dishes were so tough or soggy (oily wet tempera). Even katsu was tough. I channeled the inner Asian in me and ate them all so i wouldn't end up with a fine but i would only get sushi here.

Lunch review only. Stopped by for a weekday lunch due to great value (around $20 for silver and $25 for gold tier). We were lucky and snagged some street parking right in front. Tiny location but we were able to snag some seats. I would say that for a sushi place, the sushi menu is somewhat limited but again, it is what you pay for. There are some drinks including thai tea and fruit tea that is a wonderful option and makes the value even better. There is a small hot/cold bar while you wait for your ordering selections (you order on an ipad and I believe you can only order every 15 minutes or so?). They had a variety of different options including soups (like ramen and udon), grilled items, appetizers, salads that are all good portion sizes (small enough that you can try several different things). Ramen was OK, I enjoyed the small salads, drinks and sushi roll fish quality was good (rice ratio was a little high but reasonable). We didn't feel the need to gorge ourselves and got to try some random things like dumplings and salad given the reasonable price point and I ended up satisfied with my meal. It's not the highest quality and the option list isn't the most expansive, but a very reasonable place that I enjoyed.

The Titanic Salmon Sushi boxes are incredible. Each piece is so buttery and delicious. The price is very good considering the size and the quality of the nigiri. I bet each one is equal to four normal sized nigiri! I got super full off of three pieces. The presentation is also very nice. I would highly recommend!

Great place to grab sushi around Seattle. The pieces are huge for a great price. The salmon was a bit too tough and chewy for me. Good flavor and sauce though. I'd come back and try their AYCE.

Wowww! I came here on a whim because I was waiting for my friend to get his car fixed. This was the first thing that popped up close to me. I wasn't sure if this was a place where you go order upfront and sit, or a restaurant. After I was seated I was informed this was all you can eat and you use your phone to order. There's a 90min time limit and you can order a max of 15 items at a time. The prices here are CRAZY. It's $20-$23 for lunch and $31-$37 for dinner. I ordered a shrimp tempura which I wasn't expecting much from, but it was pretty good! The tempura was really crispy, the noodles were chewy and they put half of a hard boiled egg in it. I ordered nigiri, rolls, and hand rolls and WOW I was surprised at the quality.. the fish was really fresh, they used real crab in the rolls. Since they make it once you order this place beats conveyor belts by far in terms of quality. I think if I ordered everything I ate here over closer to downtown or Bellevue it'd easily be around $60. It's crazy that it was only $37.. and that I could order much more?! Unfortunately I wasn't that hungry so I only ordered one round. They also have a salad and fried bar that you can self serve with miso soup that looked decent. I didn't try any of it, so can't compliment on the quality... But see my photos and remember I got this all for $37!!!! Id definitely come back for sure.

Very impressed by the quality of fish for an all you can eat spot! And also very appreciative of the appetizer/boba tea bar. We did the gold for lunch on a weekend which ended up being about $40 per person, which is a little expensive but I think was worth it for the amount of sashimi we ordered. I also was pleasantly surprised by the beef udon and tataki. Super quick bringing out the sushi as well and did not notice a smell that was mentioned in other reviews.

An AYCE sushi place with very good prices and quality. We can in for lunch and the staff quickly explained how things work. You order via your phone and you can put in 15 ordere every 15 minute. You get 1.5 hours and they do charge for leftover food. We essentially only did one round of 15 orders cause we weren't too starved but still really enjoyed everything we ordered. The ingredients were fresh. Every dish was made to order and came out warm. The variety of rolls and dishes was great too. I can see filling up the whole time with delicious food. A super fun, economical spot for a group!

We went for dinner and did the silver option (about $30 pp). The gold is about $5 more pp. the major difference is gold includes sashimi and a few more premium items like steak and an eel hand roll for the dinner menu options. The silver menu includes all the regular sushi and rolls outside of 1-2 hand rolls as well as some soups (udon, ramen), salads, rice bowls, appetizers, and tempura. The food comes out quite quickly and the staff are very helpful. There's a hot and cold bar with things like noodles, salad, and tempura and a self-serve boba bar (2 fruit tea and 1 milk tea option with toppings in the cold bar). Overall it's a good price for 90 minutes and ordering up to 15 items every 15 minutes. The quality of the sushi, including ratio of rice and non-seafood filling was maybe 4/5 stars, but overall fine. It was pretty empty around 4:30 when we arrive but by 5:30 when we were leaving it was packed. They have lots of tables packed fairly close together and when it got a little too bright from the sun they lowered the blinds which was nice. If you're looking for a deal, this is a good choice. If you're looking for big sushi selection or super premium quality sushi, then maybe not. Overall a good crowd pleaser, especially if you've got some folks in your group who aren't big sushi fans but are still hungry.

Love that they brought Sumo to U District! They have a variety of sushi, sashimi, grilled, and deep fried options. The price for dinner is $32.95, which isn't too bad. They also have self serve boba with different toppings!! The ordering system is a little finicky and we thought we wouldn't have enough time to order but 15 items every 15 minutes does add up. They also have a hot bar but nothing was fresh when we went, so we skipped it.

Weekend trip to Seattle and saw this on social media. We were excited to try it but it ended up being okay. Gotta love AYCE, but the sushi had alot of rice, the sui mai was not real sui mai but still love that version, the salmon skin roll was super hard and tough. My favorite item was the fried calamari, avocado roll, and one with mango in it which was pleasantly tasty. They have a menu but you order off a QR code you scan with your phone. Some items you get yourself at the hot food section. Good selections of items to choose from, we ordered a good amount of appetizers, hand rolls and sushi rolls. We opt out in getting Shabu hot pot, but it was a hit because everyone else was ordering it. Service was great, staff were really nice. We didn't wait long for a table, but it did take a bit for them to activate our QR code to order. Once activated, the food came out pretty quickly. The place isn't too big, tables are close together. If you are looking for quantity, def come here, but not for quality. Unless you get sashimi, another table ordered it and it looked fresh. Overall, if you love saucy rolls, worth a try!

Good to have an AYCE sushi place in Seattle, but if you have the time to make the drive out to the Kent location, would recommend that instead. I came in for AYCE sushi dinner with 2 friends on a Friday night, and there was a bit of a wait. Figuring out the whole waitlist situation was a bit messy - there didn't seem to be a clear process and we had to flag a staff member down to ask. There also isn't a lot of space for you to wait in the restaurant - luckily we had parked right outside so we were able to avoid the cold. After a bit of a wait, we were finally able to get seated. Ordering is done through phone. I believe there's a cap of 15 items every 15 minutes. My friends and I ordered an assortment of different sashimi, nigiri, rolls, as well as some of the hot items. Overall takeaway was that the quality of items at the Sumo location in Kent is much better. The sushi rice seemed low key undercooked and definitely under-seasoned, to the extent that we didn't really want to eat it. Service was okay, but they're definitely very busy. The one thing that was different about this location compared to Kent is that they also serve sukiyaki, which seemed to be a popular option among the other guests. Maybe we should've done that instead of sushi? I'll be saving myself the trouble of going here next time and heading to another location instead.

We decided to go for the gold ayce menu since there was a lot of better items that we wanted to try out. Everything was delicious and service was pretty fast! The items that we don't recommend getting are the karaage chicken and shao mao, but everything else was great! Their food bar and boba station was great as well (with three different drink flavors to choose from: lychee, Thai tea, and strawberry). My daughter really liked the bbq chicken on the skewer from the bar! They have a free membership you can join so you can get points and redeem for free stuff. The first order gives you 10% off! I'll definitely come back again. :)

I've come twice, once for lunch and once for diner. I will not be back a third time. The lunch menu is limited. The dinner menu has more to offer. However, the fish quality for both menus is lacking. I also don't love the open buffet, watched several children cough directly into the food. You don't have to grab anything from the buffet, they will deliver most items. The service has been great both times, there are several people running around delivering food. The place feels clean enough, but the tables are very close together. For me, there are just too many better options nearby for a similar price point. My solo dinner with a tip ended up being just over $40 (that does not include a drink). For $40 I can order a few rolls and a small sake, then if I'm full I can take my leftovers home. You are charged $13 per pound to take home anything you don't finish (I understand why, they don't want people over ordering for leftovers).

All you can eat. We were greedy and we couldn't even finish the second round. The inside is very tight, many places your chair will touch the chair of the table behind you. Service was 5 stars but it was crowded. Many options and variety. The ingredients were all fresh. read more

We enjoyed our lunch here. The atmosphere was pleasant. The service was good. The food was tasty. If you are on a low-carb diet, you may want to come here for dinner instead. For lunch, almost all of the sushi has rice with it and they warned that they will charge you if you have any food left over. I believe dinner has meat and sashimi available. But, for $22 on a weekday for lunch it's a little above average. Thanks! read more

Interesting place. You can order only a certain amount of orders every 15 minutes. Kind of a pain, but i can understand people order so much and end up wasting everything. The sashimi and nigiri was actually quite good. Their fish was fresh and didn't taste funny or old which was good. Ramen was so so but its not their specialty so no biggie. All in all a pretty good little spot especially if you are a roll person. If you are more fish and sashimi oriented you will have to pay more but still the prices weren't bad by any means. read more

Quantity over quality but you somewhat get for what you pay for if you eat a lot. They do offer a good selection but be careful about the lunch vs dinner menu. In the weekend, they charge dinner prices for lunch. The dinner options have much better food read more

My visit was very disappointing. I found a hair on my sashimi, which is unacceptable. When I pointed it out, the host only offered to remake the dish but did not provide any real compensation or apology, leaving me feeling that the issue was brushed aside. In addition, dishes that were supposed to be served warm like scallops on TNT rolls and salmon skin are cold. On top of that, the fish didn't taste fresh, which is the bare minimum for a sushi restaurant. Between the lack of quality and poor handling of the situation, I won't be returning and can't recommend this place to others. read more

The food is pretty good: not top tier Japanese like a place like Rondo but certainly more than good enough for an all you can eat place. The sushi is better than open bar buffets like Feast, although those place have more hot options. I don't really like how almost every roll has cream cheese in it and I usually stick to the sashimi options. The service is actually really good and that's not something I usually expect from AYCE. They will accommodate gluten allergies if requested and have a military discount with ID. read more

I was really excited for this place because it had an omakase box for $25 as a promotion. However, most of the nigiri was just ok--salmon and various tuna/yellowtail/not sure was not super flavorful. My favorites were the ebi and scallop, which is kind of confusing because a lot of smaller sushi places won't do those very well but here the normal crowd favorites like salmon and tuna left a lot to be desired. I ordered a roll (I think it was the tropical roll?) that purported to have snow crab and received imitation crab instead. I should have asked for money back because I only ordered this roll because I had thought it was real crab. It was mediocre; I think they sauced it too much. I mentioned to the servers that their menu was misleading, and they said they would correct the issue with the "snow crab". Weeks later, I still see "snow crab" being advertised. My boyfriend got the gyudon, which was again just ok. The egg was fully cooked and not runny--minus points. The whole place is a little confusing--it's fancy enough to serve omakase in a super aesthetic presentation, but also uses solo cups for water (and imitation crab instead of snow crab). Would probably not come again. read more

It was a cool spot. The servers in the weight staff were very, very nice and hospitable. The food was a little different. It didn't have your traditional rolls that you would normally have a different sushi places, but it was nice to try new items. Took advantage of all you can eat and my favorite one I would say was the Walla Walla roll. I did enjoy the fried oysters that was a yummy appetizer. read more

If you come with a group of 6 you are still limited to 15 items per 15 minutes. Not really an ayce when you are 2.5 items for every person per 15 minutes. If you come as a duo then the price is reasonable, but at 36.95 for 15 items is not really ayce. read more

Food: 1 star , this time Service: 5 stars, always Ambience: 2 stars. Read below... I've been going here for awhile. It's been a great find, especially on a budget. But they recently changed the menu, and while most of the changes are adequate, it's still an ok value I guess, something just wasn't quite right. First, they've started serving wasabi in condiment packets. Second, and what was really the key to this poor visit, the nigiri was room temp, or a little warm and it just wasn't fresh. The lack of freshness was evident in the rolls too, but hidden better, as of course it would be. I'm really hoping this was a one-off visit. I'll return and give the new menu another chance. I gave 2 stars for atmosphere because I don't go to AYCE for atmosphere. It's clean and pleasant but it's small and you feel on top of each other with other tables. And for $40 , that's ok. read more

After a long day at the Woodland Zoo, eating ayce sushi hit the spot. Pretty good menu for ayce that even include dishes beyond sushi; was delighted to see ramen and udon as an option for picky kid eaters. Service was relatively quick. Orders came in a steady manner. It was easy to get caught up in adding more and more orders. Quality of the sushi was fine, nothing too special. Pretty standard and solid ayce spot! If you're looking for like high quality, speciality sushi rolls, go somewhere else. But to get a sushi fix on a large appetite, this will do the job. Enjoy! read more

We've tried Sumo in Kent and had really liked our experience there for AYCE! We arrived around dinner time and were surprised to be seated right away without reservation. However, you could place yourself on a waitlist ahead of time before even arriving! The selection of appetizers, soups, udons, ramen, rice bowls, and etc was amazing. We came mostly for the sashimi and rolls! They most definitely did not disappoint. Sumo also has a buffet bar with some warm plates, which I wasn't the biggest fan. It had french fries and chicken nuggets, great for kids! I thought for AYCE, this was delicious. Highly recommend and will be coming back! read more

Food was yummy but service could be improved. Beautiful restaurant with simple table and booth seating. Water station available with red solo cups. Staff is very quiet but friendly. I called ahead to make sure they were open normal hours for 4th of July and employee on phone seemed to not be familiar with the hours even on a regular day lol but they were open, so I came in for a small quick lunch. I was the only one in the restaurant and one table still hadn't been cleared/cleaned even though there were 4 employees and one (cashier/server) was on his phone. It's a holiday so I'll cut them some slack but I found it odd I was served on a to-go plate even though I ate inside which is bad for the earth :( looked over at the dirty table and apparently they were given plates but not me? My roll was yummy but didn't blow me away as I ordered the rainbow roll and inside is supposed to be California roll but inside was mainly all avocado and cucumber not much crab...Maybe I just came on a bad day. I don't know if I would return. read more

My friend and I were looking for a place to eat last minute and I came across this place on yelp. With so many 5 star reviews, i was intrigued to try it out myself. Upon walking it, i found that they have different promotions, including one that is $9.95 for chef special rolls. It was such an amazing deal, and I ended up getting the ninja roll for under $10. It actually came with 10 pieces whigh surprised me. The filling was really interesting, with salmon, avocado, crab, etc. but the combination was really tasty and I enjoyed it. The roll didn't fill me up, which is normal, but this meal was so affordable and im glad i came. read more

Brought my family to this location for the first time. This location is more for students (younger crowd) around the area. We experienced really bad customer service, the parking was hard to find, noticed that the workers only pay more attention to the students, our order kept on getting messed up a lot, took a very long time for our food to come out, some food being out of stock, some food items didn't taste that good and you have to request for ice with your water. THIS LOCATION IS NOT FAMILY FRIENDLY! Me and my family normally go to the Kent location of Sumo all you can eat. I know the drive is a little further but if you want good customer service, better tasting food and have all the food items in stock with the robot server experience I would really recommend the Kent location. read more

Coming from a city known for its AYCE, my expectations were not very high for this random spot. Boy, was I wrong. What an amazing sushi place with absolutely delicious food all around. We were extremely impressed with the quality of food at Sumo. I have honestly never had better all-you-can-eat sushi before. The rules for ordering are pretty relaxed, and there plenty of options to choose from, including specialty rolls and even sashimi. We were told that the max # of items that can be ordered at once is 15 every 15 minutes, and that was more than enough for us. This is definitely a must try for sushi lovers! read more

What I can say is that I was recommended to go here from a family member on the way to the airport via light rail. My 10 yo son and I got off at U District stop and walked the 3-4 city blocks to get there and the first thing my son noticed was that the health inspection notice on the front entrance was "Okay" which is 1 step away from getting shut down. My son loves sushi and can eat an easy $50-100 worth of sashimi, which is why we went to an all you can eat sushi spot BUT he was concerned with getting food poisoning right before getting on an airplane so he said he didn't want to risk it so even though we went in and sat down and I was in the process of selecting food to order off the digital menu we decided to leave and just eat at the over priced airport food court. I hope that they do more to get the rating higher and post it online so we can come back and I can give Sumo a proper rating read more

Unequivocally some of the best sushi I've had in Seattle. The Ninja roll in particularly was a mouthwatering combination of textures and flavors. All of the sushi was very fresh and flavorful. It's not terribly spacious inside, so if you have a larger group it's probably best to just order takeout. Will definitely be returning to try more menu items! read more

Went for lunch to try this spot out and unfortunately, was not impressed. Got the gold lunch. Lots of mayonnaise, lots of imitation crab meat, lots of RICE. Sushi fish (salmon, tuna, etc.) was of really low quality, super stringy and chewy, and pretty much almost inedible. Some of it was actually inedible (tuna). Lots of fried food that had more fry/breading than food. Hot bar was pretty bad and definitely not fresh. Over-sugary drinks. Honestly, the whole meal was super unhealthy and even more critically, super NOT tasty. I pretty much will eat any sushi (even grocery store) and am not picky, but would not recommend. Since my last review the restaurant has closed and reopened, and expanded their menu, to now include more dumplings and varieties of noodles. They also now have a very handy duo of ordering kiosks, which you order at prior to sitting down. I found their kiosks easy to use, which isn't always a given. This being my first visit back in a while, I had to get the spicy cumin lamb biang biang noodles. However I had to try some dumplings, so we shared the lamb dumplings, while my dinner buddy had the spicy cumin lamb rice noodle soup (the same kind of noodles you'd get at a ten second yunnan noodle type of place). They also now have a complimentary side dish bar that has seaweed salad, peanuts, and kimci, as well as some condiment type things like scallions and minced garlic. I helped myself to some seaweed salad to nibble on while waiting for our food, and it was good although food comes out quickly enough that you don't necessarily have to rely on it unless you're really chomping at the bit. The spicy cumin lamb biang biang noodles are just as good as I remember. The biang biang noodles here are perfectly chewy, and the rest of the dish has a lovely flavor aside from just spice. They're generous with lamb and cabbage which add a lot of textural variety to the plate. The lamb dumplings were the sleeper hit of the meal, filled with juicy, tender hunks of lamb surrounded by toothsome clearly hand-rolled wrappers. Absolutely do not skip the lamb dumplings. My dinner buddy really enjoyed her rice noodle soup with spicy cumin lamb, which I think would be a great option on a cold day. Everything is pretty much self serve here, so don't expect full service -- although they did stop by to refill our water once. The food here is so good, though, and prices are so reasonable, that I truly do not care that the experience is pretty bare bones otherwise.

The peanuts and scallions add a delightful crunch. Their beef chow fun satisfies every bit of childhood nostalgia I have for this dish, with lots of wok hei, bouncy noodles, and the most tender of beef. I think my favorite beef chow fun in the city still lives at A+ Hong Kong Kitchen, but this is a close second. The portion here is also huge. I am a human vacuum and I actually brought leftovers home, which is rare for me. The pork with hot sauce noodles is seemingly a fusion of zha jiang mian and dan dan noodles. My friend really enjoyed it and actually finished the whole thing, which is saying something given that she doesn't usually eat that much. Fresh, Delicious, and Worth Every Penny! I had an amazing experience at SUMO Sushi All You Can Eat! From the moment we walked in, the staff was welcoming and attentive, making sure we had everything we needed. The sushi was incredibly fresh, with generous portions and a great variety to choose from. The AYCE menu is a fantastic deal--everything from classic rolls to specialty sushi was made to order and arrived quickly. I especially loved the spicy tuna roll and the nigiri, both of which were top-notch. The tempura was crispy, and the appetizers were just as good as the sushi. The atmosphere was clean and small, making it a great spot for a date night or a fun dinner with friends. If you're a sushi lover, this place is a must-visit! Omg worst sushi and rolls ever !! Just everything from udon to appetizers to all bad ... was at kent location past week and food was awesome, but this location was horrible... sushi rice not marinated at all and they put crap load of rice in all rolls to sushi. But then again what was i thinking .. this is catering to school kids .. everything was bad!! Also service was non existent these kids that work here dont care.. no plates were cleared and we had to stack it on our small as table on our own . To pay ots like chipotle u go to counter to pay .. STAY AWAY FROM THIS LOCATION JUST HEAD OUT TO KENT!!!! read more

The food was okay, but the meat seemed low quality and the sushi was underwhelming. The service was poor, we often had to go to the front desk just to ask for water or a soup spoon. Our server also said they didn't have any soup spoons, yet another table received one from a different server. The bathroom smelled unpleasant as well. When we went to pay, they initially charged us the dinner price instead of the lunch price, which had to be corrected. Overall, it was a disappointing experience. read more
