After trying to come here a few times and finding them closed or having a private event, I finally got to try last night, and I really, really like it. It has a nice clean feel to it and its decoration is very pleasing. But the food is the star.... Started off with the E-Saan sausage (Northern Thai sour sausage served with fresh ginger, peanuts, fresh thai chili, on top of lettuce), and a large Singha and a thai iced tea. The sausage was a very good starter and, with the fresh ginger, got us going. Next was the Pad Prik King with beef, and the Panang curry with chicken. We got it with white rice, but they offer brown rice for $1 more. Both of these dishes were excellent. The GF, who does not generally like thai curry, loved the curry. The Pad Prik Kink had some nice spice, but wasn't too overpowering. They have a good selection of appetizers, salads, veggie dishes (choice of beef, chicken, pork or tofu), and noodles (Pad thai and Pad See Ew come to mind). Also, they generally have some specials on the board. A welcome addition to the Thai cuisine in the area and a must try. I will certainly be back. read more

The Thai food here is good, it's not the best I've had, but it's not that bad either. I would describe the food here as having lighter flavors than I am used to from a Thai place, but the method and style of cooking still taste top notch to me. My friends and I ordered the Jungle Curry, the Green Curry and the Pad Kee Mao. I actually did not like the Jungle Curry, but I don't think I'd have liked it if some other place cooked it either. It had a good spicy kick to it, but since it is made without Coconut milk, the overall flavor (not including the spiciness) felt a little bland and uninspired to me. The Green Curry was excellent, albeit it relied a bit on the sweetness too much. There was a good blend of flavor and taste, but at some points it did feel a bit too sweet for my palate. That being said, it was still very good, though I felt the amount of rice they gave was not enough for the amount of curry they provided. The Pad Kee Mao was excellent, although it also felt a little too sweet at points. The noodles were cooked very well though and the overall flavor of the dish was excellent, though of course not the best I've had. Overall a good Thai joint that I wouldn't mind going back to, but probably won't go out of my way to go to. read more

This is a great Thai restaurant! I remember this place used to be known as Chayo or something like that under old management. New management has taken over for a few years now and they revamp the place and cleaned up the menu. The food here is sooo delicious! I've tried quite a lot from the menu from the many times I come where with family and friends. I would get to taste everyone else's dish and thought hey maybe I'll get that next time. The pad Thai here is definitely my favorite. It is moist and flavorful and I usually order mine sans peanuts. They make sure to do it right. You'd think requesting no peanuts is quite simple right? Just don't put them in? Well most places I've been to can't seem to do that because my requests for no peanuts always end up with peanuts... So Sumran is a step ahead because they are attentive. Speaking of attentive- the customer service is wonderful. I never feel forgotten here. Okay, it's quite small of a space so it would be hard to not be but you'd be surprised at some other places where servers would disappear into the kitchen or back for 10+ minutes. They frequent each table making the rounds to ensure their customers are doing well and have everything they need. One last thing- the Tom Yum Goon Fried Rice here is a must try! Honestly THE BEST place for cashew nut chicken. I've tried so many different Thai restaurants and other places are never as good as Sumran Thai. They're food is GOOD QUALITY you can taste. Fresh ingredients and never too greasy like other restaurants. My other favorites are the tofu yellow curry & chicken pad Thai. I usually love dining in because their staff is ALWAYS super nice however, with the new COVID restrictions they've had to close for dine in so I've been doing take-out and can always count on the same great taste with any of their options. 3.5 stars. Solid place, but nothing to write home about. I came for a coworker's going away lunch. The place was completely empty at 11am, and completely packed out at 11:30. I guess the work crowd around the area likes the lunch special! For the record, the lunch special is pretty cheap (~$7), a few of my friend got it, but the portions are very small, especially for a guy. I went with the Tom Yum Goong Fried Rice. It's a simple fried rice with big flavors from the lemon and pepper. It was tummy, and I'd probably get it again if I went again. Good food but over priced and small portions. This place has always been more spendy than other places for what you get.

It's pretty rare for me to venture out of a specific rotation of 2-3 favorite Thai restaurants. Sumran was a really solid reminder that stepping outside of your bubble can lead to good things. It's quiet and a little dark, but the warm service made up for all of that. Sumran Spareribs - these came out last, as I assume the preparation is most laborious. 5 good cuts of spareribs came with a sweet dipping sauce. The meat was tender and they were fried to a nice crisp, but I couldn't shake the flavor of burnt garlic. I'm not sure I would order these again. Sumran Tom Yum with Chicken Soup - we ordered a bowl since it was just the two people eating, but we do wish we'd gotten the larger portion. The great thing about the pot is that it'll stay hot through the entire meal. The soup came out first, so it was lukewarm by the time the other dishes had come out. Regardless, the flavors were bold and the spice level was even bolder. We asked for the spiciest level possible, and we loved that they took it there. No other restaurant I've personally tried in the US has made their tom yum this spicy. Ka Pow Moo Grob - crispy pork belly tossed in an extremely flavorful sauce with sliced string green beans, basil and chili peppers. This is another extremely flavorful and spicy dish. First off, I'd like to say that this is one of my most favorite Thai places in the OC. That said, I still remember a time when this restaurant started to serve with classy white plates, and colorful chopsticks (which I love) and then the mason jars ( which I hate). I understand it's trendy. But if this is a country store / restaurant in the Heartland of America, the mason jars are fine. If this is a hip little place in Soho, then mason jars may still fit. It's an Asian restaurant, with chopsticks and white plates. No go as far as aesthetics. Other than that, I like the food ! ;-). Good lunch prices too. read more

Love the layout its very cute and modern, dim lighting. One awkward table under the spotlight in the middle and that's where we were seated. Lol We ordered: Pad Thai with Shrimp and Beef- A bit bland, had to ask for the spice seasonings, more nuts, bean sprouts and lime juice. Then it was better. The beef was a bit chewy and hard. Shrimp was cooked well Boat Noodle- The presentation of it was very nice. The flavor was delicious however once again the beef was too chewy and hard. It felt like they precooked their meat and when they put it in the hot broth it cooks even more and makes it not tender anymore. Thai Tea- It came in a mason jar, very cute and hipster. Needed dinner after a long day at work. Yelp says good things about this place. Called in, waited a bit to place my order and was told 20 minutes. No problem. Seems like they were swamped, it took 40 minutes. The flavors aren't bad, but nothing exciting. Larb was supposed to be spicy. It was a 4/10 at most. Tried this restaurant for lunch today for the first time since we are in the area. And we are pleasantly surprised with the taste and quality of the food. So so good! We ordered the duck curry, drunken noodles and a vegetable dish with chicken. Everything was delicious! Portion is ok for the price. With inflation and the prices of everything went up so much the last few years, I think the amount is right. Maybe people should stop complaining about the portion, especially when the quality is good. If you want cheap food, go to some other fast food places out there or cook at home and let's see if the quality is this good. Service is also good and friendly. Really affordable and overall enjoyed my meal! We ordered two dishes for take-out. I ordered online and selected a pick-up time, which was fulfilled on the dot. The restaurant was very clean and the employees had the appropriate PPE on. Ka Pow Moo Grob (spice level: spicy) This dish had crispy pork belly and green beens and basil. I absolutely loved this dish, despite it being SO spicy. I underestimated how spicy the 'spicy' level would be, but it was still a very enjoyable dish. I'm still thinking about this dish the next day. It was very flavorful and a must try! Pad Thai with Tofu (spice level: medium) I thought the pad thai was a bit dry. I'm not sure if it's because it was a take-out order. The pad thai isn't as flavorful as some that I've had. It was just ok. It did not look as coated with sauce as I would like. I did enjoy the tofu though. Additionally, the medium spice level was not spicy at all. Tasted more like mild, which did work out in the end because the first dish was so spicy. My coworker and I decided to eat Thai food after a long day at work. We couldn't decided between Pad Thai or Pad See Ew, so we decided to get both. We got Chicken Pad Thai ($9.95)- Bangkok street style pan fried noodles w/ eggs, green onions, bean sprouts and crushed peanuts. I absolutely love getting Pad Thai at any Thai restaurant, however the Pad Thai here lacked a lot of flavor. It barely had any flavor compared to other restaurants. The Beef Pad See Ew ($9.95)- stir fried flat rice noodles w/ eggs, sweet black bean sauce and Chinese broccoli. This had so much flavor going on and I prefer this over their pad thai. The Chinese broccoli was still crunchy, rather than it being soggy. The flat noodles soaked up the flavor of the sauce and it just tasted amazing. On top of that, the side chili sauce that they provided had a nice kick to it. read more

It's all good to me but could be too much for some. If you are a little skeptical starters get medium. Pad See Ew: one word: Wow! Noodles done perfectly. Usually I get chicken added. Pad Thai: pan-fried noodles. This is good but much rather get the Pad See Ew. Gai Yang or BBQ chicken: savory sweet and sour grilled to perfection and it's a half chicken This is just a few of the favs from here and other stuff I tried is good too, nothing yet I would say is "nasty" or "yuck". At first I was exited to see a Thai restaurant near me that was open. However, when my husband called in an order, they were out of the duck curry so we only ordered the spare ribs. They called us back after taking our order and said the spare ribs would be chopped and asked if we are OK with that. We said yes, as long as it's still spare ribs. Unfortunately what we got didn't taste or look anything like spare ribs and was very charred. I wanted to support this restaurant, but not of they are going to be deceitful in what they serve their customers. I work near here and I pass by this place all the time on my way to work that I decided after I read the reviews of course to try it out. I've been here already 3 times and have gotten my co workers to come in an try it as well. The inside is very clean and modern and the staff especially the younger boy is very nice! Good customer service The owners are nice too! I'm a huge fan of chicken pad see eww. I love it here! So far I've had that, their chicken cashew nut , cream cheese wontons and their Lunch special of yellow curry which I loved too! By the way their lunch specials Are great for under 10$!
