    Hokkaido cream cake
    Sharon T.

Great assortment of breads to choose from! Always something new to try and they have great deals too! I like the Hokkaido cream cakes! It's a cute little bakery to grab quick bites and drinks!

Pastries were good, even if there wasn't that much selection to choose from. It was only 5pm, so they would be open for a while still. I got the coconut raisin twist (identical to 85°), ham and cheese stuffed bagel (actually a roll), the black Sesame mochi roll, and the green onion pastry. They all tasted good, but I felt they were all slightly higher price than made sense. The 4 pastries came to $12, where I feel I usually get a little more for that money (at 85°). Cashier wasn't very friendly, no smile and only contact was to ask if I wanted to buy a bag for my purchase (no thanks). Really small location, so no indoor seating. Parking can get a little difficult, because there's just so much in this shopping center.

What a cute little bakery in Mira Mesa! The service was super friendly. Stopping by here after dinner at KBBQ made for the perfect dessert spot. I tried the matcha tiramisu slice, and it completely hit the spot! I can't wait to come back and try some of their specialty drinks next time.

A good alternative to 85°. We came here to get some dessert after Shawarma Guys. Same plaza about a few doors down. I got a slice of strawberry cake, and their version of milk bread. It's a little bit more expensive, and the strawberry short cake at Parjs is a little better but I did really like their version of the milk bread. Bring your own bags, they charge for one.

    Portuguese egg tart ($1 each)
    Grace T.

This review is solely for their $1.29 Napoleon egg tart and $1 Portuguese egg tart. Both were baked to flakey perfection, had jiggly custard filling and were not too sweet. Honestly, the value of these is insane. There's not much you can get for $1 nowadays, and everyone could use a sweet treat. The packaging from this location was nicer than what I received from another location (box vs plastic clamshell container). I'm not sure if that's normal, but I did want to mention this because I frequently purchase egg tarts as gifts (and they're a hit every time). Highly recommend trying their egg tarts while this deal is still around!!

Nice little bakery with sweet and savory pastries. I tried the Crispy Butter Cake Cookie (3/5), Egg Tart (4/5), Ube Concha (5/5), Black Sesame Mochi Donut (5/5), Matcha Mochi Donut (5/5), and Mochi Taro Bread (5/5). I like that all the desserts I tried were not too sweet and that the mochi treats had a nice chewiness to them.

    Scallion cream bread

I was around in the area and decided to drop by. Besides the scallion bread pictured I have also tried their box cakes. When I entered the store the staff welcomed me which was so sweet! Personally for the food I would rate it 3.5/5 because it's not bad but nothing stands out. The quality is just kind of average. They do have a lot of options. Like the bread tasted not too fresh. But I guess that's normal since I went during evening time. Also wonder if they toasted the bread it would've been better. The bread I got was around $2.35 There's lots of parking in the plaza but not really anywhere to sit in the cafe. But cafe itself looks cozy ~

    Egg custard tarts
    Margaret A.

Delicate layers of light, crunchy, buttery crust greet you before the creamy egg custard envelopes the mouth. I've tasted two kinds of the egg custard here and although there is a subtle difference in taste, I love them both. One has more egg flavor and the other is slightly sweeter. Both just perfection. I'm happy that Soo decided to bring home some bakery beauties for me! Yummy, yummy! I look forward to trying out more items on the menu.

New menu item egg tarts!! $1 each (left) Napoleon Egg Tarts $1.19 each (right)
    Karen P.

Saw their new promo of $1 egg tart & $1.19 Napoleon egg tart on Instagram and definitely worth it! I have tried their pastries at the other locations in the past and was not a fan, but I'll try them again. I did find the Napoleon egg tart a tad bit more delicious - perhaps it's the extra flaky crust. At that price just get both if you're still unsure! :)

I come to this bakery after I eat nearby because I want something sweet. I am consistently disappointed in almost everything I choose. Guess it's my fault. I got the matcha bagel last time and it wasn't good at all. Service is fine but I think I'll try somewhere else next time. The store itself is cramped and hard to navigate if there are more than 5 people inside.

This was probably one of my favorite bakeries when I lived in Mira Mesa. I went so often, I likely gained weight from all the pastries and drinks! It didn't help that it was practically walking distance from me too. I once tried their black sesame milk tea, and it was SO good. I couldn't adjust the sweetness at the time, which was odd, but the worker assured me it wasn't too sweet. And it wasn't! It had a strong, nutty black sesame flavor that many places miss, combined with a nice, strong tea flavor. My new favorite drink from here! YUM!

    Katherine K.

Decided to stop in here since my guy and I had dinner close by. There was still over an hour before they closed, but there already wasn't much left to pick from. Honestly, nothing they had to offer really looked or sounded appealing. We ended up settling for some of the lava mooncakes: Pistachio Milk and Molten Chocolate. Staff was rude at checkout and didn't say a word other than the total to us. The chocolate one was the best out of the two, but that doesn't mean it was actually good. The pistachio one had no pistachio flavor to it. They were expensive, overly sweet, and dry. I wouldn't want to come back here to try anything else.

Mochi donuts are fiiiiire!! Matcha is the best!! The matcha is bold and sweetened perfectly.

Sunmerry Bakery is paradise for carb lovers... you get a tray, some tongs, and a mission to fill that tray w goodies. Big thanks to my friend and professional pastry enabler, Yelper Soo H., for the recommendation!! My faves: The Ube Concha, Matcha Mochi Donut, and Matcha Moon Cake. Each bite is like a gentle hug from a dessert trio that knows how to make you happy. Their slogan, "Not too sweet, just delicious," isn't lying... it's dessert therapy for people tired of sugar punches to the face. Pro tip from someone who learned the hard way: show up early unless you enjoy staring longingly at empty pastry trays and not satisfyingyour cravings. Overall, so happy and excited about this place!! Check em out!! There's something for everyone!!

Pizza was good, but soggy in the middle. The pasta was good, no complaints there. The sandwich was very lacking in the meat department... It was basically a bread and arugula sandwich. Had very low expectations for the gelato to begin with seeing as the colors were extremely unnatural and the way it was heaped was a clear indication to me that it is not legitimate gelato and unfortunately, I was proven very right. I got the strawberry so that my toddler could have a few few bites and it was so unnatural and weird tasting that she didn't even want any... And if that doesn't say something! My husband got the coffee flavor and he literally took three bites and threw it away as well. I will say, though, on the food front, the prices are reasonable here all things considered, but maybe stick with pasta... based on everything As a whole though, you can likely get a much more legitimate Italian meal somewhere else in the area, but it will probably cost you more.
